Controllers and Music services

When updating the beam generation 1 and using the latest app, the facility to play locally downloaded files is not available.I downgraded back the Beam back to the previous software version. I also downloaded the Sonos S1 app. I had to factory reset the Beam and add it via the Sonos S1 app.  I was then able to play files on my mobile direct to the beam.Has anyone found a way to easily play local files on the Beam via the Sonos app (not the Sonos S1 app)? Thanks

Can the active speaker be more obvious - the grey ‘highlighting’ isn’t highlighted enough. 

The unability to create the personal music library in searches is bad enough and has been reported by many users already.Now I faced another challenge when trying to browse the music library: so far, in the new app, the listing of albums was accurate, still a bit clumsy to go through without the A-Z bar on the side, but possible.On the weekend, without having done any further app update (Android), the album list looks very different. The Sonos app lists every song of an album as one album (!), so the actual list of albums is not there anymore. With 55.000 titles on my NAS, it has now become completely impossible to choose albums or tracks.Have other users also run into that problem?

Any update on the availability to at least turn trueplay off from an android device?  I know it "saved" our Trueplay settings but if I move my speakers around I should be able to at least turn Trueplay off.  That has nothing to do with the microphone used in androids and cannot for the life of me figure out why I can't toggle that off anymore?? 

Is it me or is the latest Sonos App the worst ever user experience. I hate it !!!

I have setup SiriusXM in my Sonos account.. I can access SiriusXM through the Sonos app but i cannot get my Sonos Control to connect to SiriusXM. I keep getting an error message stating “unable to browse music - there was a problem connecting to SiriusXM.” How do i clear this error on the Control unit?  

So my app recently updated and now I can’t change my EQ settings or control volume limits on my devices.  anyone else experiencing the same issue. Worked fine before the latest update..   

Using Anghami Music here.1. Playlists cannot be played, end up with a circle. It doesn't matter if it is a followed Playlist or own Playlist. 2. Playlists added to Sonos favorites are empty and cannot be played Diagnostics submitted 

Hi Folks,3+ months into the updated Sonos app debacle, here is a list of features that worked great on version 16 of the app but still do  not work on version 80 of the app.  I hope we can get fixes for these and check them off in less than 3 months:Add/Edit tracks to a Sonos playlist. I use playlists heavily from music in my local Library. Some of these playlists have thousands to tracks.  Since the upgrade, I cannot edit them at all. Album art. Album art no longer displays for tracks from my local Library. When viewing the queue, the app should zoom to the currently playing or last played track. When a playlist has more than dozen or so tracks I shouldn’t have to scroll to find the current track. Touching the volume bar should allow me to adjust the volume for any of the devices currently being used. Now I have to click the speaker list at the bottom. I suppose this is mainly personal preference.  I will try to post here as each of these get fixed (hopefully!). MikeS 

If I search for an album (or a playlist) on Spotify from the Sonos app and choose to play a specific song on the album, the first song of the album or playlist plays, not the one I chose. When opening the queue for that specific room in Sonos app the queue seems disabled and it looks like when I used to play on a Sonos speaker from the Spotify app. Image attached.Both iOS and Android. Anyone else experiencing the same? 

HiI mainly have used my Sonos system to listen to my own music, which is stored on a Buffalo LS-WXLF5D NAS.I had it set up and working fine on the S2 app.Since the up-heavel with the app, I have been without this function. I now see that Manage library is back. I have gone to Add Folder / Enter Share info….given my PC path name and the NAS mapped folder - //192.168.1.10/ZBut, I just get Access is denied. I’ve tried with and without the NAS’s username and password, but same result. Have also tried turning off my Firewall, but same result.Am I doing something stupid? As I say, it previously worked.Thanks!Damien

Is there going to be an update to access my usb router to play my own library? Or is there way to connect?

Seems like I am in the same boat with so many others.  I have 7 Sonos One SLs and Apple Music will no longer play.  I was looking to purchase the surround 7.1.2 setup, but this has completely turned me off of getting it.  Seems like app updates can render your speakers useless.  Or at least useless for your primary use.  I miss the time when things weren’t so reliant on connection.  I have tried to reauthorize with no success…i can see the service and pick the playlist, but it just spins.  Any help/workaround is appreciated. Sonos, try some beta testing before crippling the users.

Hi all sorry if someone has already asked but does anyone has the same problem?   I set my alarm either chime or sono favorite like a radio.  However, it never go off at the set time.  I live in UK and she since the new app my alarm isn’t working anymore…Any help will be very much appreciated.Thanks

Hi everyone,I currently have 4 x Play:1s, a gen 2 sub, a Five, a Roam SL and a gen 2 beam. They are all running firmware 16.1.1 (build 78152020) and are controlled by the 16.1 S2 android app (build 78151030). I ‘sideloaded’ the 16.1 version following the disastrous release in May.My main use case for Sonos is to play my personal library of music from a USB stick connected to my router on 2 zones (2 x play:1s and 2 x play:1s plus the sub). The beam is used solely with a TV, the roam/five are used to stream internet radio.For various reasons relating to my routers support for SMB1 (ASUS DSL-AX82U), not having a NAS, working without internet and not wanting to upgrade to the latest app version, I want to downgrade the play:1s and the sub to S1 and separate the components into 2 systems, with the more up to date components on 16.1 S2.The 16.1 S2 app does have the option under ‘support’ to ‘downgrade products to S1’ and I’m wondering if anyone has done this on the pre-May S2 app? 

Since installing the update in May, I haven’t been able to use my Sonos speakers for the only use that matters to me: play the music recorded on an external SSD inserted in the Satechi Stand & Hub For Mac Mini (https://tinyl.io/BOh8) connected to my Mac Mini through USB. I followed the instructions from https://trello.com/c/wcfwIU8A/2-local-music-library But… Any help would be very much appreciated. 

Hi folks, turning to the community as one last throw of the dice to try and resolve this, otherwise I will be selling the 2 x Move speakers. Having read through the various posts around the updated app (absolutely horrible) and various posts surrounding my similar issue, I have been unable to find a solution that works.  when I try to access the speakers through the app (BT full fibre and iPhone 15 pro) I get the attached error message about “system not found on network”. I then search and add my speakers once again. Within 2 minutes, they disappear yet again.  I have to go through this process EVERY time I access the app, I have been unable to simply open the app and play music since the app update.  can anyone offer some advice with this that has maybe found a solution as I do love the speakers but this has now become unusable and will be forced to sell.  thanks all. 

I am hoping that someone can assist with a major problem I have and this is not yet another 'new app problem'.I have Amazon Music Unlimited connected to my (extensive) Sonos system. With the latest app update it has basically stopped working leaving me with limited misic. Behaviour is odd however mostly it just doesn't work and I get errors saying there is a problem with Amazon. However, every so often it does at least list some music, e.g a playlist. When I try to play it, it may work or skip a number of songs before finding one that plays. After that it will stop. If a speaker already had a music queue, you can hit play on the speaker and it works but stops after maybe 3 songs.I have tried:- uninstalling and reinstalling Sonos app- re authorising Amazon Music- other devices (same behaviour)- contacting Sonos support (have an incident number but have to phone next week - will update if I find out more as I have sent diagnostics).I attach screen shots as examples. Sonos Playlists have dissappeared. Does anyone know if they will be restored, or are they lost forever?

Will you be restoring the old UI for switching between rooms? This new app is very cumbersome for this feature. 

when is this app going to be corrected????!!!!  it has been months and I still can’t get recently played now my subscription s ie Amazon do not populate what the heck!!!

I'm trying to prevent the Sonos app from taking over control of my Android volume buttons, since this prevents me from controlling media volume on my phone when my Beam/TV are on, and instead unmutes the Beam volume.It appears this brilliant company has eliminated the ability to sever this control. I can't find any settings controls, and this Sonos community forum page is inaccurate:Does anyone know another way? Or do we just have to wait for Sonos to fix this (at the same time they undoubtedly break five other things)? 

I had 5 SL speakers for years. Worked perfectly, even with new app. Family and friends loved it. Sonos sold a lot to them.  Then I got a Beam 2 three weeks ago. Music played perfectly on all 5 SL+Beam. Speech Enhancement and Night Sound never worked, but when I called technical support, after sending in diagnostics, they told me it was a known bug. So there is that. Then app got updated last week, and now it will randomly pick speakers to play music on, changing every few seconds, and at random volume. My partner is getting upset with me and wants a different system.  So now to reliably play music, I had to buy bluetooth speakers from a different firm. I was about to buy an Arc with a subwoofer and 2 Era 300 for my beach house. My partner vetoed that. Nobody in my circle will now touch Sonos. So why are they making the app worse? music was working perfectly until their last week’s update.  sigh,     

I am totally frustrated and infruiated with the total failure of the new app. that was installed in May.         In my case the main problem is that I have lost all my play lists which disappeared with the new app, and it says no music available when I try to update. These Play List have been compiled over many years,  In addition to this I cannot install any new music from I tunes on to the sonos system any longer -it’s an absolute disgrace. In simple terms my sonos system is now useless!Following Mr. Spences  [sonos CEO] communication a number of weeks ago I would have expected some progress but in my experience nothing has changed . It is now 5 months since that failed  app was installed  & still no solution ,  how much longer are we expected to wait -6 months a year 2 years before all the issues are resolved , if ever!!  As one other contributor stated why don’t they re install the original app which worked well until they sort out the problems with the new app-is this not poss

In the lat month we have had 2 household power cuts and each time my sonos has lost the path connection to my music library. since the new issue of sonos app I am unable to add a music library on my Ipad or android phone and I have to fire up my aging laptop and use the windows app.just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues.An update to the new app would make life so much easier if I could just use my Ipad!
