Controllers and Music services

Just wanted to let you Sonos know that I used to be a great ambassador for your products - I have five.  Since the forced upgrade where half my products no longer work, or if they do I have to use different controllers for each, I’m embarrassed to admit I was ever a fan.  Your business is a disgrace.

Been using the Sonos arc for about 6months connected to an LG CX via eArc without issue (other than only getting a + and - symbol when controlling the volume)  today though the tv is recognising that the volume is being changed but the speaker isn’t doing anything, it will change via the app but not with either the sky or magic remote. 

I am trying to play songs on my phone to my Sonos and the Sonos app on my iPhone does not see the Sonos speaker phone connected via ethernet, however it works over Wi-Fi. All my other devices connect just fine via ethernet. However for some reason Sonos has blocked ethernet functionality via the S2 app. I do not want to use the soeaker as a bridge. I have a fast ethernet connection and I don’t want it to be on Wi-Fi.Please update your app to use ethernet as a priority instead of wifi.

The app’s UX is soooo flipping badly designed that deleting a room is so unintuitive that an inter-planetary search needs to be done to find out how to do this simple task.Then all the self righteous fanboys (schmucks) jump in defending why it should be so crap and that we should all appreciate it’s un-intuitivity - Well 418,000 search results don’t agree with you.So after the question was posted back in 2018 and still remains - How the flipping hell do you delete a room. AND why has it taken over 3 years to still be so sh1t?

Hi,Not sure is this new thing or havent this worked with me before. I use my Android to control my Sonos system trough Spotify app. For my phone I normally use my same wifi as my Sonos system has. Now when I use my mobiledata 4G in my phone I can control my Sonos system (that is still connected to the wifi!) normally with no problems. Has it always been like this as using Sonos S2 app it demands to be in the same network as the Sonos System but in Spotify this is not the case.

Hello, just after opinions on Amazon Music Prime?.I'm looking at getting the Amazon Prime account with Music Prime.How well does that work with Sonos and can you select individual songs or is it just playlists?.I'm aware they do Music Ultimate but I'm only interested in how the Prime works with Sonos.Any comments appreciated!.Cheers, Keith.

I’d like to request the ability in the app to turn off the surrounds completely when listening to music. Currently the lowest you go can is Ambient/zero, which still allows some sound to be audible from the surrounds. I’m sure there are users out there who would enjoy the reverse as well, where you can keep the surrounds on for music, but mute completely for TV/Movies. My setup includes an Amp, 2nd gen sub, and Ikea Symfonisks for the rears.

I have the Fire HD 7 4th generation using OS 5.6.8.0..Sonos S2 App is not supported. What can I do if anything?

I would like the sub level to be discrete for music/tv - as per the surrounds when grouped with an Arc. Being able to adjust the surrounds (in my case 2x play5 g2) is great, but the sub is stuck at a single level - I have to set to -4 at least on most good films/shows but then move back to 0 for music

It’s a good app but running on macos it starts out at 100mbs which is fine but keeps growing until it’s using 1GB of memory. (on the latest sonos desktop app and version of MacOs).  Needs fixing

I have always been using the Sonos App, with the Deezer music service connected. This works, but the functionality available is never as good as the Deezer app itself. The Deezer app couldn’t play on the Sonos speakers though, so I never used it.I just discovered that Deezer has (finally) allowed us to connect to Sonos from the Deezer App. Select the “Audio Output” with Airplay. I now see my more recent Beam and from there can group some of my older speakers. This is great, as I now can use all of the functionality in the Deezer App, not the limited set from the Sonos App/Deezer plugin.The big surprise though is this sounds better. I’m not sure if I’m imagining it or not, but there seems to be a marked improvement in sound. The songs I’m playing now are all marked “HQ”, but AFAIK I was streaming high quality audio using the previous Sonos App with Deezer configuration.Is it possible I really am getting better sound with this configuration?

So it’s been months since S2. Before the update, S1 was already able to play back flac 24/48. The promise was of more HiRes audio to come. I sold my gen1 connect in anticipation, bought a Port. And waited. I can still play the only same files as before, I’m a couple hundred pounds down, and feeling a little duped to be honest. Just curious whether there are others feeling the same....

Is anyone else getting the error message when trying to set up their Sonos One?“Something came up. The application has cancelled the request to choose a device.”I recently moved house and tried to connect my Sonos and this keeps popping up.Old house had no problems and i’ve never seen this message before.I am on a new Wifi system.What i’ve done so far:Factory reset the Sonos. The app recognises the Sonos One Begins to try and find Wifi and shows a Wifi i’ve never seen before (See image below)and if I click it, the error message pops up.I have tried on both the Sonos S1 app and the Sonos S2 app.I think it may be an issue with my phone? Please, please SONOS let us be able to save a couple of sound profiles in the APP!I switch between Music, TV and Movies with my Beam and x2 Ones, and one EQ/SOund setting for all doesn’t work.Movies over Netflix are extremely Bass heavy and surrounds overpower the BEAM.Music is perfect& TV needs more Treble.  Please allow me to save my desired Sound settings under 1 button in the APP, so I don’t have to faff about depending on what I am listening too. I have linked my Amazon Prime Account to Sonos successfully.  Yet anytime I go to try and play anything from Amazon Music, I just get a message telling me to subscribe to Unlimited.  It directs me to amazon.com/music_on_sonos where I am being asked to subscribe.  Am I missing something if all I want is to access the free music I can get through my Prime subscription?

What apps can I use that will play a full album/CD from one artist? I do have my Apple library but not sure if there is an app for me to access that content.

I’m a PC user. I have an audio book on several CDs.Using iTunes, I’d like to rip all the CDs so I can do the following: Play the digital files ripped from CD stored on my PC using my Play5s, and PlayOnes Play the files on my iphone or ipod.Does the Sonos system require the files to be in a specific format? I don’t want to rip them, only to realize they should have been ripped to a different format. Thanks!

I’ve been using Sonos and controlling it from my phone for over 1 year.  last week I receive a “netwrok problem detected” error when “I sign in to use new features” on the bar at the top of the app or when I check for updates in system updates.  I run an iPhone XR with iOS 13.2.  The Sonos is up to date.  The Sonos app runs correctly from other iPhones in my house.

This has only just started in the last month or so, you add a track to ‘play next’ to the queue which it puts into the queue but just continues past it? Any ideas? thanks 

I want to add Shared Music Folder for music that is on my Synology NAS (DS720+). When I try to add the NAS shared folder (Shared Folder via File Station) I get either error 900 or 1001.  Note: I do not use the cloud capabilities of the NAS. The NAS is only accessible on the local network.

I have a large library of original CD files ripped onto my hard drive and in Apple Music (formerly iTunes) The files are all in lossless format. I have (4) Gen One Connect Amps.  What is the best and highest fidelity way for me to connect the Mac and Sonos?

I have just replaced a Seagate NAS which worked well for 6 years. I used it to create a music library for sonos and also backed up a few photos.  I replaced it with. WD My Cloud and have mixed feelings about this. I am having to use the app to play the music and cannot seem to find which address to use to find the music library. The app categorises the music poorly and does  not even display the alphabet down the right to enable you to find artists , tracks or albums. I have used iTunes to download almost all of the music. I am also having trouble with the format of the file due to this. I saved all my uploaded music on an expansion drive. When I am putting this on the mycloud it will not play any that hare WMA files but only MP3 . It will not seem to play WAV files which is often the case for download codes.  Wishing for my seagate back, although I hope I can resolve these things. I can upload the CDs to make sure they are on MP
