Controllers and Music services

I have S2 Controller Version 16.1 build 78151030 on my iPad. When I use the app on my iPad, there appears a message that the iOS version on my iPad is “no longer supported”. However, it works perfectly. That’s good. On my Mac, I have S2 Controller Version: 16.6 build 83161210. When I attempt to use the app on my Mac, I does not work, but demands that I check for updates. I do not want to update on my Mac because of a long history of Sonos updates causing my system to fail and requiring laborious troubleshooting and repair.How can I get my Sonos S2 controller on my Mac to work again without risking the failure of my existing Sonos system?Thanks for helping if you can. 

Hello everybody,when I launch the app, select my speakers (2 Play5 Gen1 Stereo) and choose my TuneIn radio station and put volume to e.g. 5 as soon the music starts the volume goes up automatically to 25! Independent of last volume when turning off (at any other speaker of my system). When adding additional speakers it seams to refer to latest volume on that speaker.I read that there is no default volume in any settings. So how can I fix this anointing way to loud start up volume?Thanks from Munich 🤗

I would like to have the results from a search list items according to my preference.  I’ve been using Sonos for many years because I could prioritized by music library, not paid streaming services.Searching from the home screen has music library as the LAST group!?  Why Sonos?  I can rearrange the home screen to have my music library first, how do I have my music library results first in search results.I know I can go to the music library first then search, but why make this an extra step.  Why do you push streaming services first, because it is financially advantageous to you?  Unless I am missing a setting, I see no way to change the search order results. Please give us music lover back the control to set our own priorities. 

Having recently finally upgraded my Android and desktops app to the latest releases, I feel that the ‘new’ S2 app is now nearly as functional as the ‘old’ S2 app. However, there are a few features that I valued before that don’t seem to be there. My question is, are any/all coming in future releases?The persistent notification I used to find really handy for quickly managing the sound and on/off, but now have to open the app, wait a few seconds and then get access to the relevant controls.  If I am streaming radio, my ‘station of choice’ is BBC Radio 3 via BBC Sounds. On the desktop app this shows an image, either of show or music playing, but this is not seen on the app.  Also when streaming BBC radio via BBC Sounds, clicking in the 3 dots (bottom right) there is an option to “Show in Sounds”. Ever since the new app came out, we’ve lost the ability to set inputs as favorites. Is this on the roadmap to add to the new app?

I love a lot of the Sonos Radio stations I’ve listened to - but sometimes I can’t find them when I go to Sonos Radio and browse the categories. Two examples (in app and web app) - If I browse to sleep sounds, I see 3 stations:Piano for Sleeping, Rain and White Noise. But I remembered using others ones - so when I search for sleep I find others - like:Rockin’ Chair, Oceon Sounds, Forest Sounds, Rainforest, Pink Noise, Brown Noise.When I browse to Artist Exclusives, I see 9 stations, but I remembered Bjork had one and it isn’t there. If I search for Bjork, I find it in the search results. I tried the Sonos support bot - which basically told me to use search for the missing ones. I find that unsatisfying though. I hoped that browse would always be a full set of stations where I could be introduced to new stations and see all existing stations. I have no idea what other stations are missing f

Where is the EQ setting in Android app ?In IOS (IPad) i could find it in Device setting.The inconsistent menu between IOS and Android is confusing. 

Trying to listen via S1 App to Mixcloud content via my Sonos system.Can search Mixcloud OK but not getting any audio at all - I can listen via the Mixcloud site after listening to an ad.Is anybody else having this issue?

I’ve been muddling through getting my local Mac music library accessible to Sonos (something I used with no issues for years before the App was improved).  I have it working sometimes but also not working.Some of the tracks work exactly as they should, launched from the Sonos program on the Mac or from the App on my  iPhone.  Some of them fail from my Mac, but then work from the iPhone, and then also work from the Mac. Others pop a persistent error message of the form:Unable to play '<track name>.m4a' - cannot connect to /<HOSTNAME>/<DIRECTORY> because the server cannot be found. My music library is on an external disk mounted directly on my Mac which is sharing the filesystem (SMB enabled).  I am trying to launch the music from the Sonos program on my Mac and also from two family iPhones.It

After updating the Sonos app on 4/9/25, Amazon Music will not play properly.  Songs start and then quit playing or I get an error like ‘Song not encoded properly’.  What is going on??  Why the continual problems with Sonos??!  What can be done to fix this issue?  I’ve already removed Amazon Music and then added it back -- no change, still skips or partial plays.  Please fix this!!

SonosNet Channel is showing as an option in the Network settings on my Sonos app, but I’m not sure why.  The reason I’m asking is that I’m trying to get to the bottom of why my app lags more than it used to. I have tried Sonos support and given them diagnostics, but after 1hr and 20mins on the phone to them nothing had improved and I’m none the wiser. They asked me to connect a speaker via Ethernet to create a SonosNet but that seemed to make the lag worse.  I have since done a hard reset of all speakers, uninstalled and reinstalled the Sonos app on my iPhone. But the SonosNet channel still appears as an option. I have 5x Sonos Play 1 speakers and 2x Sonos One speakers in my system. All of them are showing as WifiMode1, so are connecting to my WiFi. I have an EE Smarthub router, with WiFi turned off and use a TP Link Deco X50 mesh system in AP mode. Will I ever be able to play songs (i.e., mp3s) stored directly on my phone to my SONOS system (without using a 3rd party app like Spotify, YouTube Music, etc.)?

Perhaps my biggest gripe with Sonos is how bad the integration with soundcloud is. Never mind the 100 track limitation on the likes but the music discovery part completely sucks. When can we expect a better integration 

I have created playlists within Sonos for years and have had no trouble moving tracks around, but now there doesn’t appear to be that option anymore, is that correct, or am I missing something?I sincerely hope Sonos haven’t removed that feature, or it could be the final straw.

I spent a good part of the weekend re setting up all my components. I get an overnight Sonos App update and it can’t find my system or any components?????? Sonos you are an f ing disaster.Issue is now fixed but I can’t believe how many times I have had to setup my existing system. Virtually every product had to be reset to factory default. 

I understand the technical aspects of the sampling rate, bitrate and mastering of media sources. However, if I play a Max Quality (24 bit, 192 kHz song on Tidal) or the high res lossless version in Apple Music from within the Sonos app or the Lossless capped version in Apple TV and compre vis a vis a Bluray, I find that the sound quality in terms of the fidelity, overall tight sound, louder, wider soundstage and greater feel  iis observed when the source is Bluray.  My setup is Sony A95, Apppe TV and a mid range Sony Bluray player with Sonos Arc, 2 Era 300s and a Sub in a single room. ​@jgatie ​@Corry P

Har netop oprettet en Spotify konto (free) for at prøve det af, men jeg mangler som sagt min playliste. Alle aps er opdaterede med sidste versioner. Moderator Note: Google Translate- Why can't I see my Spotify playlist in Sonos (S2)? I subscribe to Tidal without any problems. I just created a Spotify account (free) to try it out, but as I said, I'm missing my playlist. All apps are updated with the latest versions.

Is firmware updated automatically?

Is it going to be possible again soon with the S2 app updates to access and play your local music files directly through the controller?I want to listen to audios in the 48khs sample rate without them being resampled and as I understand the only way to guarantee this is by using the app, but currently with no access to local music on my device the only other option is to install a NAS drive with a local media server which still requires a computer or laptop for that setup.It seems a hassle right now with Sonos just to achieve the basics. Does anyone have knowledge about how this works and what to expect?

Hi All, In my living room I have a Beam, a Mini Sub, and a Five. Here are my dreams… 1. Have the Beam and the Mini Sub for watching TV / movies. 2.Be able to swap to the Five and Mini Sub when listening to just music / records. I want better quality audio than a sound bar can offer for music listening, plus my record player is on the other side of the room and want a speaker near that.  3. Being able to go all out and have the 3 speakers play.  The issue I am running into is I cannot get the Five to join the others in one room on the app or I can only connect the Mini Sub to either the Beam or the Five. Is what I am dreaming possible?Does the Port solve any of this?Would a pair of Era 100’s and 300’s plus the Five make this possible and just ditch the sound bar?Ditch the single Five and go with a pair of 300’s or 100’s and keep the beam? Once again my Sonos system can’t connect to the Relisten service. This has been ongoing for a few days now and their regular app works fine and so does the Relisten website. My Sonos says it can’t connect, however, via either my iOS app or my desktop app. 

I have been forced to upgrade to the new app (I installed the desktop app on a new PC, which upgraded all my speakers - despite them being set not to upgrade, which then meant my Android app no longer worked) and despite all my fears, so far it isn’t as bad as I was dreading - and my NAS library is there, with artwork 😊. Hoping that well documented missing features (such as editing playlists) will come back soon 🙏🏻.There is one thing though that I can’t find and perhaps this is because it isn’t there. Most of the time I listen to streamed radio (BBC Radio 3 - and notice that the image is no longer visible in the app, which is surprising/disappointing, but not critical). In the past I have set up a queue which I can switch to easily when I decide that I don’t want to listen to the radio for a while. I can’t find any way in the mobile app to be able to find the queue - am I missing something? 

I live in France and have been using Sounds to access Radio 4 live, for many years.  I now hear I will not be able to do so. Any solutions please?                                                                                                   

I’ve been using a Sonos Port for many months now making the switch to Sonos when the Apple Lossless support was introduced.I’m very happy with the solution and appreciate that ‘features’ take time to implement but I really do think its about time a better way to navigate through the Album and Artist lists is introduced.It is currently very laborious to have to scroll through complete A to Z lists just to get to the item you want.It surely should be possible to add a capability to jump to the starting letter of choice.Here’s hoping…Thanks
