Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

I know this has been asked in various ways on here but I can't find a satisfactory answer. I have a Google Home, Play 1 and Play 3 and I dearly want them to be able to link together using the Google Home as voice control for all the speakers. Is this going to be possible at some point? The lack of clarity is putting me off buying a Play 5. Sonos please give us a hint!! 🆒
I have a Logitech Harmony 650 Remote. It will not consistently control the volume. I have increased the IR Repeat. I have unplugged and rebooted the whole system. I have deleted the remote from the Sonos App and re-installed it. The app asked for up 3 times, down 3 times, and mute and said it was good when I did the increase of repeat, removed the remote and reinstalled. Anybody know what I should do? It does work from time to time. The remote controls my TV, my Roku and my dvd player fine.
Are there size limitations to Imported Playlists? I had one playlist of about 20 that would not import. I. Tried and tried variations to get it to import. Only when I split it in three parts did the Imported Playlist work for those titles. The original playlist I created included about 3500 songs.
Is there a way in the Sonos controller to change the order of listing to artist name first, instead of album name first? With over 400 hundred albums ripped to ITunes, it's easier to have the artist name in alphabetical order. The listing is correct in ITunes and Apple Music, but it's reversed in my library in the Sonos controller. Thanks. Loving the Apple Music and Sonos.
Trying to stop everyone logging in and switching the play list, wondering if there is any way to put a password on the system so only those with the code can access the system
My desktop goes to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity (so far, so good). But when it wakes up, the Sonos Contoller for PC (ver 8.2.2) will not reconnect to my Sonos Connect. I have to close and restart it the application. The system is working fine in all other regards. This just a bit annoying.. it would be better if it could rescan the network without having to re-launch it, once the PC wakes up.
Hi, would like to say that I am really happy with recently purchased Play:5 2nd edition - love the ease of use and sound quality. I am using only streaming media (Spotify and di.fm radiostation) and Sonos has some room for improvement there in general usability. This time I would like to ask to add some kind of auto volume level function because songs on the same playlist might be recorded or encoded with different volume level and sometimes I am really tired of adjusting volume up and down after each second song. For example playlist 'All Out 80's' by Spotify having all sort of music and I have noticed that rock usually played much quite than some pop song after it. For example quiet song 'I am gonna be' by The Proclaimers (quiet) against 'Rock Me Amadeus' by Falco (loud) https://open.spotify.com/user/spotify/playlist/5wDvHZhgPBlWyDEZ3jSMF4 I wonder if anyone else noticed same patterns or if this feature exists somewhere...
Hi everybody, My sonos apps on all my devices keeps shutting down from time to time, has anyone else been having this problem the last few weeks
Sonos Software is so complicate and non intuitive that I'm alwas afraid to touch anything when I got something Working ! Since a few month I use three Play 1 Не is Shuffle all from My Music folder on WDMyclout the two other are Connected to the Same radio Station Now I want to change the Music source for one of the station. Of course this sounds to be very difficult and impossible to do from My Android Mobile App So I go to my Desktop App and Impossible to find or remember how to do it If I right click on the selected Station I have no Menu option to select another Music Source I see so many complains about Sonos Software awfull design that I can not understand why nobody decide to make something better with true Ergonomic Designer and not with geeks sparsing feature here and there with their own tecno focus ! I thing that some consider that the power of a sofware reside in it's difficlty to use or understand !
Please enable searching across all audio sources (Music Library/Streaming Services/Amazon Cloud Player/etc.) in the Windows desktop controller. The ability to do this in the iOS controllers is wonderful--it feels very limited by comparison to have to choose a single source to search within in Windows. Thanks!
I use Spotify and Google Music through Sonos. No local media. I assume this is the way everyone is going or will be going. When playing on Sonos you get the option to Thumbs Up/Down a song as it's playing and it then says that will affect recommendations. But how will it? Is that solely for Sonos and local media or does it affect your Spotify/Google Music recommendations? I thumbed up a song through Sonos thinking it might mirror the thumbs up in Google Music but it didn't. So what did it do? Am I right in thinking nothing at all? If it essentially does nothing for streaming users then can it be changed so a thumbs up/down in Sonos will mirror on the streaming service?
To all, I’m not certain this is the right place to ask this, so please let me know if I should switch to another group. My problem is app connectivity. I purchased 2 Play:1’s, which I set up in my living room as a stereo pair. I have a Linksys router and Netgear range extender because of the distance to the router. When I first set it up, the speakers would cut out fairly often, and the app on my iPhone and on my iPad would lose its connection to Sonos even more often. Because of that I purchased and installed a Boost in my router, connected my speakers to its network, and since then haven’t had any loss of signal with the speakers. However, the problems with my iPhone and iPad are just as bad. Either it takes multiple attempts to change a radio station or open Spotify (with error messages each time), or I get the Sonos opening screen that says I need a wi-fi connection. I still have a strong signal from my network, and my other apps seem to work well on the home networ
I have noticed that the app on my phone, my wife's phone, the iPad and even the iMac has intermittent connection issues. Sometime it discovers the Sonos system and sometimes it does not. I discovered this today when I was trying to add two new Play1 speakers that I just received. To date I have not be able to add the play1's to the system. I have tried the following: 1.) Reboot router 2.) Power down router 3.) Delete app and reinstall Pretty frustrated at this point.
Hello all, I recently purchased a Sonos One, and I am really impressed. Playing local music is a huge plus. I noticed that great care has been taken to make the iOS controller app accessible via VoiceOver. Unfortunately, this is not so true for the Mac version. Most of the buttons are not labelled, however they do have VoiceOver hints, such as Crossfade, Play, etc. Apart from this, it is a quite huge issue that all lists, including the search results, the source selection, etc, are not visible to VoiceOver at all. This essentially makes the Mac version unusable. Would it be possible to enhance the UI in this area please? I would be happy to beta test, and give you further information, if needed. Erion
Is it posible to make a function with maximum sound level for some rooms? In my kitchen it's annoying when I have a party, and the guests just can set the volume to maximum.
Trying to find out if it's possible to play a (shuffled) playlist AFTER a song that is currently playing. Right now, it seems that if I choose to shuffle a playlist, there isn't a "Play Next" option and will cut-off the song currently playing.
Hi all, SInce I updated my laptop to windows 10 the sonos app won't work. I have tried to uninstall it and restart but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks
Similar to Itunes there should be Shuffle by album mode, which plays a complete album and then randomly plays another album in the playlist.
I'm fairly new to Sonos, Spotify (ex-Slacker user) and just today got an Amazon Echo Dot. I had already configured my Harmony remote to work with my new Play:5, but just a few minutes ago I added the Harmony skill to the Dot. Now I can simply say "Alexa, tell Harmony to turn on the Play 5" or "Alexa, tell Harmony to turn the volume up" or "Alexa, tell Harmony to skip this song." I have not found a way yet to request a specific song, artist, playlist yet so for now it immediately starts playing the default playlist I tied to the Harmony activity. I suppose I could add separate activities to the Harmony software, then give friendly names to each one within the Alexa software which would allow me to select various playlists. Has anybody else tried this configuration to use the Echo with Sonos? Curious to hear what your experience has been. Still trying to determine if there is a way to select a different Spotify playlist or radio station with voice. Thanks!!!
Hi - it has always been a mystery to me why crossfade is on a different controller panel (and hence harder to find) to the shuffle and repeat options. Logicaly to me they all function on the queue for a particular speaker. I expect it to be changed on each update, especially a major UI update like v8 - but no.
I have an Echo Dot, Harmony Hub and multiple Sonos boxes. My set is Tv on the wall, receiver, apple tv, dvd, cable box and sonos connect boxes in connected to receiver closet. My sonos connect boxes are zones, living room, sunroom, office, bedroom and a connect amp in the lounge. Once i installed my echo dot, it recognizes all the zones. Harmony app installed and I can't get it to move to sonos so i can play music. Also tv does not turn on or off with Dot but it does lock up the Harmony Remote until I push help key. Thoughts or clarifying questions?
Please explain to me why, after several years and many updates, I still can't sort a playlist by song title and/or artist. This is such a basic feature of every other music manager I've ever seen. Why hasn't Sonos added this feathre?
If I want to play music in the whole house, I have to group the Kitchen and Living Room together. I wish I could save that group as "Full house" and have it selectable, just as a room. Preferably, you would want to create all kinds of groups. Like "Dinner Insider" for Kitchen+Living room and "Dinner Outside" for Kitchen+Outside area.
First thing I'd like to state is that the Airplay device works with a standard speaker connected via a jack to my Airplay Express. I have configured a Sonos Connect called "Airplay", I have connected a Jack from airplay to RCA on the IN on the Sonos Connect. In my environment I also have 3 rooms configured, Kitchen (Sonos Connect -> Amp -> ceiling speakers), Living Room (Playbar and Play:1 x2) and Bedroom (Play3). I want to be able to play music from my iPhone over Airplay to the "Kitchen", I have configured as shown in the screenshot. However every time I close the tab to see if the config has been applied I get an exclamation mark and it doesn't work (see other screenshot). Am I missing something? Any guidance greatly appreciated.
Hi, this is just more (and more recent) requests to add support for AndroidTV with the Android controller... The main Sonos controller says not supported on my Sony Bravia 2016/2017 AndroidTV. From the Play Store. This was a post from a while back. https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-software-228995/sonos-control-on-android-tv-box-needs-better-remote-interaction-6734000
