Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

Can an amp, with speakers connected, be used for both TV surround sound and music? I have installed a Sonos system in a home. There are 11 Sonos amps for music in several rooms/spaces, 3 Arc soundbars and 3 Subs (for the three TV-viewing areas). I’d like to set up the system to play music on the Amps when the TV’s aren’t on, but then switch them to TV sound when the TV’s are turned on. It seems this is possible, but I am not having any luck trying to set it up. Can someone offer assistance, please?
The Sonos Amp goes into ‘idle’ mode when it doesn’t detect an audio signal for more than 3 minutes. It’s a shame that the Amp doesn’t automatically wake up from idle mode when the TV it’s connected to is turned on. Every time you switch the TV on, and begin playing content, you miss the first 3 seconds of audio as you wait for the Amp to wake up. This problem also occurs when you pause whatever content you’re watching for more than 3 minutes - the Amp goes to idle mode, and then you miss the first 3 seconds of audio when you begin playing again. Every other audio receiver turns itself on when the TV is turned on, using HDMI CEC control. Surely the Amp could do the same? The Amp should wake up from idle when the TV is turned on, and stay woken up until the TV is turned off.
I’m finishing up my 3,000sq ft shop/garage. I put in 5 pairs of in-ceiling speakers and a pair of sonance mariners outside. The shop is completely open, so I purchased 6 amps as I wanted to rock the place if necessary. My goal is/was to have the 5 amps powering the inside speakers all grouped together and essentially never ungroup them. I put up a Sony X95k and connected eArc hdmi to the first amp, and everything is working exactly how I envisioned other than volume control. While watching TV, the TV remote control only controls the volume on the first amp. To move all volumes in unison I have to use the app. When listening to music it’s perfect because I’m using the app anyways and it controls all the volume, but I’d like to be able to not have my phone on me and pick up the TV remote and control all amp volumes in unison. Is this by design or should I be setting up the amps differently? Each amp was set up as independent stereo pair and then I grouped the 5 interior ones together.
I have 25 port in basement all connected through wird .i want to add 1 sonos port in my pool area where is no any wire connection and no any sonos zone player to connect on sonosNet . i ahve only Wifi coverage there. can i travel new player to my Wifi and to add my system?
Does the Project Phono SB that Sonos sells on its site include a preamp ? Thinking of getting one , hooking it up to my Play 5, and running it through my sonos network which includes two Play 1s. Will this work ?
Hi I want to connect my turntable to Sonos Beam Gen 2, sub mini & 2 x Sl's. I have two questions 1. I currently have turntable connected to vintage marantz amp to external speakers. I no longer want to use external speakers but want to connect to my Sonos surround setup. My turntable has pre-amp & I have connect gen 2. Will connecting connect gen 2 to my marantz amp improve sound over connecting directly to turntable?Question 2. I'm new to Sonos so do I connect the turntable (Connect gen 2) to my current setup entitled lounge (TV surround sound) or should I set up another group titled turntable with same speakers? Hope that makes sense.Help much appreciated.
With the last update, the sound on my Port has changed.I use the analog outputs with variable volume control and uses the EQ and loudness and the Port is connected directly to a power amplifier, with large floor speakers.I don't have an Arc or Beam, but to me it sounds like Port now have the same Enhanced Clarity sound profile !I am not satisfied with this because I believe a product like the Port should not add a sound signature to the sound, it should play with a complet neutral sound.I can understand Sonos will have a sound signature on their speakers, but not on the Port.I think it must be a mistake, that this sound change update, has been sent to the Port.

Is Sonos Boost discontinued?? I couldn't find it anymore from TC Acoustic's (the distributor of SONOS for Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong) website and got reply from their CS that it is no longer in production...
Does anybody know what the screw sizes for the official Sonos One stands are? I’ve lost the screw kit that came with the stands. There were two sizes per stand (instructions just list them as ‘black screw’ and ‘silver screw’)I went to Home Depot but couldn’t find any that fit Thank you.
The analog RCA outputs are said to be 24 bits. Is this per channel or is it 12 bits per channel 24bits combined?
Hello,I am looking to purchase a U Turn Orbit Plus with a built in Pre Amp. Will my old Gen 1 Connect:Amp Z100 work with this turntable? Or will I need to get a more updated amp/port/five for this to work?I currently have a collection of (2)Sonos One SL and (2)Play:1 speakers, a Beam, and Boost. So does this work? Turntable w/ PreAmp → Connect:Amp Z100 → Sonos speakers (One and Play:1 or Beam)
Perhaps a crazy question, but here goes:I’d like to add in-ceiling sonance speakers in our family room. Problem is, it’s a 2-story tall room so the ceiling is probably 25-30-feet tall. I’d rather not rent a scaffold or lift to deal with it. So that got me thinking: Since there is attic above that room, would it be possible to install the speakers from above? What I was thinking was Step 1: cut the holes from the attic. Step 2: drop a fishing line/rope/whatever through the hole to the floor below. Step 3: attach the rope to the speaker. Step 4: attach the speaker grill to the speaker. Step 5: Carefully pull the speaker up to the hole from the attic. Step 6:???????????? It seems like steps 1-5 will get me a speaker that is in place, but not secured. I suppose the big question is I can you twist down the locking mechanism from the back side of the speaker? (See picture) Anyone have experience with this? Or does anyone have a speaker handy to see if there’s a way to lower the clamps from t
Can I connect a Sonos Connect (ZP90) to a subwoofer amplifier instead of a stereo amplifier? I only want the low freqencies so I can use a wall subwoofer with my Sonos Ones.
Hello, I’m looking to get a Sonos AMP with 4 x Monitor Audio C280 IDC (specs below). Would this pairing be okay if I wired them in parallel? https://www.monitoraudio.com/en/product-ranges/core/c280-idc/ Thanks
I am looking for a high quality DAC/Preamp that will play nicely with Sonos. In particular, it would be great if it was “Works with Sonos” certified. I see based on that site, that the Onkyo, Pioneer Elite, and Integra A/V receivers have this capability. However, those are way overkill in terms of features for my 2 channel setup and often have less than stellar DAC chip implementations anyway.Quite by accident I discovered that Meridian actually integrates “works with sonos” in their high end Dac / Digital preamps - which is great! But before I go buy one of their units, are there any other similar “high end” vendors that also integrate with Sonos?
Has anyone else experienced a loss of output signal from their Connect following the software update on November 4, 2022? Mine worked fine for six years until the update. This appears to be deliberate. After five hours with various support folks, failed return requests etc. they suggested that I just go buy a new one.
Morning all,In getting support on another Roam related question, I started to consider wifi strength and possible RJ45 connectivity. There are many devices out there that indicate that they are wifi only but in reality do support a wired connection e.g some Roku boxes, even my treadmill that has essentially an inbuilt android tablet in it.Adding a Ugreen usbc to RJ45 device can often introduce a wired link to replace a wireless one.Does anyone know if that is possible on a Roam unit?Reason to ask is that I’m off to a location that has notoriously poor wifi services but were rooms do have RJ45 ‘s outlets at the desk and room level. It could be a nice insurance policy.Very interested to hear if anyone explored that route. Many thanks
Just ordered a Pro-Ject Debut Turntable and I have TWO fives and I’d like to connect them both. What’s the best way of doing this? Do I connect the cable from the turntable to one of them and then link the other by Bluetooth?
Hello,I’m in the process of getting a new construction home built. I’m wondering if there would be any issues putting Sonos ceiling speakers ~18 inches away from a coffered ceiling similar to the coffered ceiling on the perimeter of the living room below image below? Does that give enough distance to avoid any issues? For context, my home layout is very similar to this open concept with the living room and kitchen / dining being an open space like the image below. Thank you!
Moved into new house that came with sonos amps and wired speakers. All amp lights were white. I performed factory reset to add to my sonos system, and mute button flashes green with led off. When I press any button, mute button goes off and led is yellow. Continuously tell me me can’t find device. Can’t find the amp that I did not factory reset either. Any suggestions?
After a fair months with various issues, the main sources of which being:Wireless DECT baby monitor, replaced with an non DECT one DECT cordless home phones, never used so replaced with a basic phone just for line checks Neighbours mesh hopping networks and sometimes choosing same channel as my Sonos. I spoke with my neighbour who set a permanent channel and it has improved his experience too with their streaming etcI now have a fairly stable Sonosnet, I have also moved a couple of speakers around based on what I have learned over the last few months about causes of interference etc. Due to this movement I now have a Sonos Boost doing nothing. My network matrix is currently: Everything seems to be working as we want, local files, online streaming etc The two upstairs speakers that are red I have very limited options on where I can move them to and I cannot work out what is causing the interference, but they seem to be working as we like. However I have some questions:Would replacing
Hi all,There don't seem to be that many posts about specific Sonos Amp & speaker combinations, so I thought I would briefly share my impressions of the Sonos Amp in combination with the Bowers & Wilkins 707 S2 loudspeakers.I ended up with this combo after half a year without a Sonos (or any real) stereo system following a move to a new, somewhat smaller, home. Having finally got my modestly sized living room in order with furniture placed and (just) enough room for a pair of compact loudspeakers, I went shopping. The 707s were not actually on my initial list of potential buys (I had intended to try their larger sibling, the 706, among other speakers) but upon hearing that my listening space was quite small (effectively a quarter of my living room, putting my usual listening chair less than 2 metres from the speakers) the sales person suggested trying the smaller 707s and they pretty much blew me away, with a remarkably full range sound for such a small speaker. Of course, they a
