Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Several times both Sonos and Echo are playing music at the time time. I have instructed Alexa to pause, and it only pauses Echo, and not Sonos. I then have to ask Alexa to pause Sonos. One time, the Echo stopped responding after issuing multiple commands, and I had to unplug the Echno and restart it. Any suggestions as to how to avoid this issue?

Set up a Sonos one a few days ago, was working great, loved it. Got home today and said Alexa play music, but nothing happened. Appears that Alexa stopped working but I’m bit sure why as I didn’t do anything to it. I can still play songs through the Sonos app. I tried eating and reconnecting the Alexa app to no luck. Alexa seems to recognize the Sonos one but just won’t respond to anything I say. I wonder if it is an issue with the mic? Any help / ideas appreciated.

Howdy, I keep learning more about the Sonos One and using Alexa and I keep getting confused about what can actually be done with Alexa and what can't! I would like to be able to just tell Alexa to play my music. Music I've bought over the years, CDs and downloads, that are now stored electronically. I'm not too bothered about streaming other music and certainly don't want to be stuck paying for a subscription service. How best to achieve this? Initially I thought I'd get the Sonos One and a NAS and could ask Alexa to "Play The Who in the living room" and the Sonos would access the NAS and start playing. I've since heard that this will not work. You have to start the music using the Sonos app and then you can use Alexa to skip tracks or change volume etc. But she won't initiate play. So, streaming service is the way to go. According to the FAQs on here Sonos works with Amazon Music, Google Play music and a few others. However I

We have a Sonos One, and initially when we set up, it would always play the Radio Station that we asked for with no issues. A few days ago, when we requested a Radio Station (“Heart FM”) it just refused to play the station and wouldn’t do anything. After a reboot today, I again tried “Heart FM” but to no avail. I then tried just “Heart” and it started playing just songs. In the end, it finally accepted “Heart UK”. Has anyone else experienced this odd behaviour by Alexa on Sonos?

Why does my new Sonos 1 with Alexa not recognise that I use Spotify? I ask her to play an artist from Spotify and she keeps reverting back to Amazon...... confused!?

We are thrilled with our new Beam Apart from a slight issue. Whenever anyone on the TV uses a word anything remotely like Alexa, the sound in the TV goes off for a few seconds whilst the Beam is waiting for an instruction . It really is very frustrating...I’ve just been in to try to change the wake word on the Beam and can’t..Does anyone else have the issue with sound drop outs like this? Surely this is an issue that needs sorting promptly?

Just bought the new Sonos One with built-in Alexa, all works fine a part from the timer, when I ask for a 2 minute timer, Alexa repeats this then followed by 'sorry I'm having some trouble' any ideas what the problem/solution is?

Problem: My Sonos One has recently stopped playing music from Spotify. Details: It is connected to the internet as it can tell me the time. It is connected to my Spotify account as it will say eg "playing coffee table jazz on shuffle" when I test it with "play some jazz" but that's followed up my silence. It must be a problem on the Sonos end as my Amazon Dots still play the music fine. What I've done: Updated software on both my phone apps and Sonos One. Uninstalled all the apps and reinstalled. On my Phone De registered and re registered my sonos one in ALEXA APP Factory reset and re set up my sonos one - The speaker itself (these steps were mostly guided by me trouble shooting via google and this site) And I'm still back to where I started. Everything works except actually playing the music itself. Can anyone advise as I've run out of idea

I posted a reply on another thread for the same problem but nobody has replied with anything to help. To copy the text - I bought a Sonos one to replace an Echo as I loved the Alexa functionality in the kitchen but wanted better audio quality. The speaker is amazing but Alexa is terrible. I also find myself shouting at it to respond. I have the old Echo in another room and quite often that answers me when the Sonos One is still ignoring me. I've also noticed that quite a lot of the Alexa skills don't work on the Sonos One - for example "play radio X" won't launch the radio x skill. On the whole I am really pleased with the sound quality but Alexa is a big let down. While I'm having a moan - the noise it makes when it finally does respond is horrible 😃 Here's hoping this is software.... Can anything be done to improve my Sonos One? I read a comment that it should be just as sensitive as the Amazon Echo, and it is nowhere near that g

I set up my speaker 6 days ago and the microphone or alexa has stopped responding. I have unplugged it but no change. The only buttons that seem to work are the volume buttons. All worked perfectly until now.

Updated Sonos to latest version. now need to bring volume to 70% to get reasonable volume.

First let me say I have been a sonos user and supporter since my first system in 2006. I originally started with on amped box and then got another. I used these over 10 years without fail. I have allot of home automation in my house and waited patiently for sonos to get alexa support. I went out and immediately purchased the sonos one on release day and couldn't wait to use my existing alexa's. Then disappointment settled in quickly. Not only was the alexa integration not what I expected the ONE was beyond disappointing. We replaced the alexa in our bedroom with the one. Will I be able to ask an Apple HomePod to play music from Apple Music? I am considering changing from Apple Music to Spotify so I can use Alexa to play music on my Sonos system but would like to know if it is worth waiting for the HomePod?

Hello Alexa has stopped changing radio stations. ‘She’ is listening, because I can ask all sorts of things and I receive the appropriate response. The radio station that I want to change to is announced, but nothing changes. Many thanks.

Hi everyone, so basically my question is whether there are any hue lights that can sync up with the standard sonos play 1 speaker. I've heard that Phillips hue lights don't have any built in functionality with sonos but there are third party programs that can allow you to do this? I'm running with windows and an android phone, cheers for any help

Alexa will no longer start playing radio, Spotify or audible via my Sonos beam. It responds e.g. "BBC radio 4 from TuneIn" but then nothing plays. I've also contacted Amazon in case it's their problem. Diagnostic report: 1233412052

Has anyone processed a return in the UK, I've filled out the form twice this week http://www.sonos.com/en-gb/mbg Each time I fill the form out I get an email from Tech Support saying they will call within 24 hrs, which doesn't happen,, we're meant to get a returns label ?!

When will drop in be enabled on the Sonos? I am changing my speakers out in my house... I would not have transitioned to Alexa or Sonos if I knew this was not an option. I still have a lot of speakers to replace but do not want to move forward. Is this something Sonos is considering or do I need to find another solution?

When I ask Alexa to play a song, her response is that my "Amazon Marketplace settings are not properly configured for this device" (a Sonos One). Alexa works in all other respects. I've checked everyone on Amazon's end, and I can't see where the problem is. Here's some facts to consider. 1. We are US expats in London. We have 2 Amazon accounts, and I've made certain that the Amazon Music Unlimited account is tied to the UK account, and that the Amazon music services in Sonos are also tied to the UK account. Same thing for Alexa. 2. I wonder if the issue in any way related to the fact that my Sonos app comes from the US Google Play store, and not a UK-based Google Play account? Anyone else have the same problem when you ask Alexa to play a specific song?

What am I doing (or saying) wrong? Set-up: I have a SONOS Beam, linked to my Apple TV Box via the Optical Adapter HDMI ARC Cable. The idea being, when I'm watching normal TV I use the TV speakers and when I watch a film via Apple TV, I get my sound through my SONOS Beam. This works great!! However, when I simply want to listen to music, whether it be Radio or a playlist,.. etc. I say: "Alexa, Play Radio 2". Alexa suggest she's found the station via TuneIn (or a playlist through Amazon Music) BUT doesn't play anything. I've checked the volume by playing something manually via my SONOS App on my phone. NOTE: The Apple TV box is off. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

I am signed in to Amazon music, pandora, Spotify premium, and iHeartRadio. However, when I ask alexa to play a station, song, artist, or playlist she only plays one song before an error occurs and stops playback. Any ideas how to fix this?
