Advanced setups

We have a large property with a main house, entertainment building and a pool house.  There is one Unifi network for the entire property UDMpro, 3 USW24 switches and 10 Access points, the outbuilding are connected by fiber to a switch in each building.  In the main house there are 12 amps, 2 arcs, 1 beam and 1 sub.  One of the amps is plugged into Ethernet and the rest are on Sonosnet.  The Main house works fine.  The outbuildings are to far away to connect via Sonosnet and when I try to wire one Amp in either building via Ethernet the network crashes and does not recover until I unplug the Ethernet.  I have STP (not RSTP) enabled with the switches prioritized appropriately and IGMP enabled.  In the Entertainment building there are 4amps and 2arcs, in the Pool House there are 2amps.  What would be the best and stable way to connect the outbuilding Sonos players.? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys I saw an old thread on here that went unanswered but I could no longer add to it.   So I made a new one to possibly help others who run into this issue!   I often install Sonos equipment in peoples homes and today I faced an issue for the first time with Xfi pods and wireless Sonos zones not appearing after setting them up on your network. I figured out that if you wire a Sonos Boost to the xfi pod and add the boost to your system while connected to the “xfi pod wifi” (just stand close to it during setup), then you should be able to add it to your Sonos account. From that point on you can factory reset your Sonos equipment and add to your network without issues, since a Sonos boost gives off its own dedicated network to all your Sonos equipment. Now all of the Sonos equipment appears on the customers network without any issues. I believe the problem is that the xfi pods give off their “own network” but still have the same name and password. My content (movies, TV shows etc.) is on a wired network and my wifi is on another network.  If I buy the surrounds or the sub (I have a Beam Gen 2 coming), will this setup work properly so I can get the full experience of the Sonos system?  BTW, I have a Samsung Smart TV with ATMOS that will be served through the eARC port on the TV and my Android phone will be on the same network as the Sonos speakers.

I currently have my Sonos Connect connected to a Sony STR-DH590 receiver to power my Living Room in ceiling surround speakers. Is there anyway to connect my Sonos Arc to this receiver so I can have the ceiling speakers and ARC play together?

I have a Sonos Beam (Gen 2) and 2 x Play 1’s setup as a surround sound system in my TV room that works very well.They all connect wirelessly to an Ubiquity Access Point that is hard-wired to a Router that is directly connected to the Internet.I am trying to connect my new Sonos ONE (Gen2) as a standalone system in another part of the house wirelessly to another Ubiquity Access Point that is also hard-wired to the SAME Router. Both Access Points have different SSID’s as they are far apart and the one cannot “see” the other.During the new setup process the Sonos S2 App immdiately picks up the new Sonos ONE and the installation went well up to the point where the App decides to connect the Sonos ONE wirelessly to the existing Sonos System’s SSID which will obviously not work as it is too far away.PS: When I attempt to configure the new Sonos ONE my Smart Phone (Android Ver 12), I am wirelessly  connected to the SSID in the new part of the house where I want to use it as a standalone syste

Hello allIm aware this is a question that has been asked before but im yet to find a solution or answer that i understand.I have a client who has an old Cob house with super thick walls. We have wired in TP-Link access points to each room with a single SSID on Auto channel configuration. This is so all devices can roam inside and outside on the same network seamlessly. This works fine for all phones and laptops etc.With the new Wireless network in place we reconfigured the Sonos system setting up as like brand new. When in the Kitchen, id reset the Play1 Sonos then it would appear in my app and add as usually expected. When i then walk in to the Lounge. i see the App look like its lost connection as the username etc goes Grey, then after 15 seconds it appears white and showing connected apart from its no longer showing the Kitchen Sonos device. I continue by resetting the 2 x Lounge Sonos Play1 devices and add as a Stereo pair again in the usually expected manner. I can now see both co

Hello. I apologize for any ignorance. I’m new to the group. I'm purchasing 2 Sonos systems. Arc+Sub+Ones for two different rooms. My walls are open and I'm running various low voltage wires cat 6, hdmi etc. Down the road i may go with in wall or amp driven speakers. TV and arc mounted above fireplace. Blue Ray, Roku, Apple TV, Nintendo, Future Sonos Amp with be 20 feet across through room connected through cables in the wall, as well as cabling back to the network switch. I'm looking for insight/resources on the do's/don't in terms of wiring to be somewhat future proof and avoid any regrettable mistakes. Are there any really good threads here on this topic that could help? Also this will all be connected to 2 new Sony A80k or LG C2 TV’s if that matters. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You

There is an easy fix!  Going into the Xfinity app on your computer or device you need to check the connectivity of all your Sonos speakers, especially the Soundbar(s).  The Soundbar(s) must to connected to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for the Surrounds to connect.  If the Soundbar is paused or disconnected the Surrounds will not connect.  My One SL would not update from 14.8 to 14.10 (now 14.12 as of today, 20 September) when that update came out.  Sonos Support is still saying there are know issues.  These issues are from customers; not Xfinity.  Maria from Sonos Support got the problem fixed, albeit it took an hour on the phone and Maria remotely accessing my laptop, but once we got the connections in order my One SL updated in a matter of seconds and I could connect my One SL’s as surrounds again.  Please note the Surrounds have to be in vicinity of the Soundbar you are trying to connect to; not your Gateway.  I hope this helps all of you having this problem.

Hi,Just purchased a Samsung Frame TV (2022) and am considering buying a Leon Frame bar as it will match the aesthetics.  This soundbar does not have an HDMI Arc connection.   I have previously installed in-ceiling front and rear speakers, which I plan to connect using separate amps.Relatively new to this world, but I’m concerned I won’t get 5.1 surround with the way I’m trying to set this up and would appreciate guidance.Samsung Frame TV to Sonos Amp (HDMI), same Sonos Amp to Frame Bar (Center speaker) Front and Rears each with their own Amps.  Sub on its own.Will I get 5.1 out of this setup?  Apologies if this is obvious, appreciate your input!

Hello everyone, so I have a question, we have Sonos amps setup around our house, and we recently got an Orbi mesh system to put throughout our house, and I’m wondering if there’s anyway I can setup the amps to work on the new network while still being able to do it via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi, it’s currently setup to work via Ethernet but it only works when I’m connected to my main Wi-Fi, I was wondering if there way anyway i would be able to forward them or something, the Sonos amps are plugged into a switch and the switch is plugged into the main router 

Ok after several weeks of this I can shareStart moan.While the idea that ALL iot devices should sit on an iot vlan SONOS resists that to its maximum. The iot vlan only has one basic change over a standard LAN in this instance (was planning on tightening up further later) was that ONLY the HOME network could open connections to the IOT vlan not the other way around. Changing the wifi  that Sonos uses is a a REAL PAIN INTHE ASS and you have to allow up to 2 hours per SONOS device to do it. It will require following instruction that do not work, Press and Hold these two buttons until you hear a chime, after 60 seconds no chime, start all over again. Connecting to SONOS wifi - failed move closer to device - ANY CLOSER and I would be INSIDE the SONOS. These games will go  one for a few hours - with 7 devices changing the WIFi took two days!!! It should NEVER be this hard. Once completed AIRPLAY & Alexa works great between networks but SONOS stubbornly refuses to work at all for playing

Has anyone set up Sonos with Starlink internet yet?  Sounds like they don’t allow much customization on their router but it does do 2.4 and 5. Might be able to use your own router as well but rather use theirs if it works. I’ve found I have to force the 2.4 band to channel 6 to avoid interference. Might not be an option with Starlink router?

Okay, I’ve read numerous suggestions over the years to establish presets or scenes so you can, worh minimal effort, reset your system to play certain configurations (volumes, locations, etc.).   But they are always closed with no resolution.  This is an EASY feature.  Why does Sonia continue to ignore its best clients?

Looking for some help.  I have a Playbar (ethernet to Google Nest router), Play5, 2 Play1s, Sub, and a Move.  The Playbar is the only speaker connected via ethernet.  All of the other speakers appear to be connecting to my home WiFi.  In About My System, it shows WM:0 for the Playbar and WM:1 for all the other speakers. Two questions…1) My Sub is not working (can’t feel it vibrate).  Note, in the Sonos app, in the System menu it displays Kitchen (+Sub) so it seems like it recognizes it.2) Is there a reason that all my devices (aside from the Move) are not connecting via Sonosnet instead of my Wifi?  My house is small so all the speakers are not too far apart. I’ve tried factory resetting all the speakers multiple times.  I’ve also tried connecting each device through an ethernet when resetting them.  However, once I unplug the ethernet, they connect through WiFi again.  And I don’t know how to make Sonos “forget” my WiFi.  Note, all the speakers work, except for the Sub (I just don’t u

I have recently installed a new ASUS AIMesh home network with one main router and two nodes (loft and kitchen). Sonos just doesn’t seem to like connecting via direct WIFI anymore as my speakers (8 x Play 1s) continually drop off the network/App. I have had to switch to a wired deployment as a workaround. I have been searching the web for help, disabled airtime fairness and also ASUS smart connect but still fail to have a stable Sonos system over WIFI.Any other comments or ideas from anyone is very welcome! I just wanted to share my findings in this, since I have installed a Sonos system at work where we have a segmented vlan-separated network here, which we have locked down pretty hard. So this is what I have needed to do for opening up for Sonos, and the scenario is the following 4 vlans vlan 3, 4, 5 consists of desktop computers and wireless clients. vlan 6 is a guest network, fully open to internet, but has no regular access to anything else in the office (until now). I put the Sonos players on vlan6, to give them full access to internet. It is behind NAT. From computer/wireless (3-5) networks to vlan6: TCP port 1400 (Sonos control) From vlan 6 TO vlan3-5: TCP port 3400, 3500 (upnp events) UDP port 1900-1905 (upnp discovery returns) Now, the final piece of the puzzle was the multicast used for finding the players. We use a Clavister firewall, which support something they call SAT multiplex rules (other vendors might have similar functionality but call it something different)

I wanted to post a few clarifications regarding SONOS and Spanning Tree Protocol that have been raised in this thread. SONOS ZonePlayers use 802.1D Spanning Tree (STP) for loop prevention between wired ZonePlayers and the wireless SonosNet Mesh Network. The Spanning Tree running on ZonePlayers is compliant with IEEE 802.1D and can inter-operate with other IEEE 802.1D and IEEE 802.1w compliant devices. Note: IEEE 802.1w is an updated version of the Spanning Tree protocol called Rapid Spanning Tree. The two types of STP protocols are compatible and 802.1w should revert to inter-operate with 802.1D devices (such as Sonos). Therefore, 802.1w Ethernet switches will work with Sonos ZonePlayers. SONOS ZonePlayers CAN be connected to Ethernet switches that do NOT support Spanning Tree as long as the Ethernet switches do not interfere with the STP BPDU packets transmitted between ZonePlayers. This is typically never the case and these switches pass the BPDU packets like any other packet.

Hi there, I've recently been encountering various issues with my Ubiquiti UniFi network where the signal just disappears for hours on end for no apparent reason. I decided to reset my Sonos system and set it up using my Sonos Bridge over SonosNet rather than on my home WiFi network to help reduce interference on the 2.4Ghz band. Primary reason for this was that my Sonos Controller on my iPhone would often tell me it could not find the Sonos players, despite all being on the network. Heres what I have: BT HomeHub 6 acting as DHCP server for entire network and VDSL Modem to my ISP (WiFi is turned OFF on this BT HomeHub6) Ubiquiti UniFi Switch 8 connected to BT HomeHub 6 providing PoE to 2 x Ubiquiti UniFi AP-AC-Pros (one upstairs, one downstairs) Sonos Bridge and various other streaming media devices (Panasonic TV, BT TV Box, XBOX) is also wired into my UniFi Switch 8 to provide a reliable wired network for the SonosNet base (Bridge) for other players to connect to I ha
