What is the best way to control Sonos via the Amazon Echo Dot

So this is extremely annoying and I am extremely frustrated with the producr to date. I have had these device almost 2 years now for the most part, and have been having this issue the last year. So the issue is with the application or the speaker itself. About 4 months ago, I upgraded our home Wireless internet with a new router/modem repeaters, etc. i thought this was the issue with the connectivity. Apperently thats not the issue, because it is happening to date. Here is the system: Play 3 - Garage PlayBar - Fam Room (Closest to router) Sub - Fam Room (Closest to router) Play 5 Gen 1 - Main Area (Furthest From Router) Play 3 - Master Bedroom Play 1 - Master Bath Description: So this occurs intermittently, there is no cause, pattern, or reason quite frankly. Hey there, our house has mutliple Wifi names throughout: KitchenWifi, PoolWifi, LoungeWifi, BedroomWifi - the reason being is we found having them all the same name (eg. EntireHouseWifi) resulting in devices keeping a latch on routers that could be far away (weaker) rather than the stronger signals nearby. Having the wifi networks different names meant if you were on your laptop in the kitchen, you could purposefully choose "KitchenWifi" and be 100% sure you were on that particular router. My question then, is how do I connect different players to particular networks - from what I can see, you can only choose ONE, and your speakers will all try to latch to that name? Or am I wrong? Second part to the question is, if I connect my Play3 by the pool to the ethernet network via cable, does that take governance of the signal/path or will the speaker still attempt to join the Wifi mesh?

Hi support, I have an issue where I can't get surround speakers to work with my current computer/Sonos setup. I've read a lot of stuff on the issue but couldn't find a satisfying answer. I own a playbar, 2xPlay:1s and they are configured as surround system in my sonos controller. So I have this computer hooked up on my Samsung TV (Model: PN51F5300) with a HDMI cable. It has an Asus P6X58D-E motherboard with AMD 6770 gpu. The playbar is connected on my tv through the optical cable. I suspect my tv doesn't relay anything else than PCM/2.0. When I go into sound settings of the tv, I only have the option of PCM. The other option doesn't output any sound. I tried to connect the computer's optical cable directly to the sound bar and it did not work. My main source of video comes from my Plex server. In both cases, when I play music through the sonos apps, it works perfectly. I understand that my TV doesn't relay anything else then PCM. What could I add to my setup to have

I have a challenge for anyone up to the task. Not a straightforward arrangement so I have attached a diagram which I hope makes sense. (They say a picture paints a thousand words ) I live in the country and have little or no broadband. I therefore use an EE Huawei E5180s-22 4G LTE 150Mbps Router Cube. I place this in the bedroom as it gets the best 4G signal here ( Up to 32mb ) I have cable from the back of this router to my office, which is where most of my tech lives. In my office I have an RJ45 splitter box which then connects my iMac, Lightwave system and Netgear Arlo home security system. I also connect in to a TP link power extender at this point which then provides good coverage throughout my house on all floors. I have a play 1, 3 & 5 in the house which I have set up using the ethernet cable and used all of these speakers wirelessly when I first set up the system. I have purchased a QNAP NAS and will be moving all my music files from an old NAS to the new server and also setting up Plex with Sonos. I have created a ton of playlists through the SONOS app, once I point SONOS to the new location of the music files with the playlists continue to work or will they all have to be created again?

Currently, I am living on campus as a freshman in a dorm in college. The wifi used here is a roaming wifi called "Eduroam," and both my Iphone SE and MacBook Pro use it as the primary wireless internet source for my room. I have an Airport Time Capsule used as, basically, a giant backup flashdrive since I was unable to connect it as a router for my room. I realize that the new Sonos systems require, in most cases from what I have seen on other threads, a wireless internet source to receive updates and operate with a phone or tablet as the controller. However, my Play:1 detects the Eduroam and attempts to connect to it; but when I insert my given school password (each student has a unique password based on their student i.d. number), there is a long delay and it claims that it (the Play:1 through my Sonos phone application) is unable to connect to the Eduroam network. Is there anyway I can simply connect my Play:1 to my laptop via ethernet cable to access it directly or into my Airport

I just moved my home office, which meand my wifi router and bridge are in new locations. I wanted to review my Network matrix to see what it looked like after the move. When I got to x.x.x.x:1400/support/review/ , the only thinks that comes up now is a hyperlink that says network martrix (the other links are no longer there) and if i click on the link, the table does not appear.

Hello there Sonos-comrades I am building a little software for controlling my Sonos speakers. A Customer of mine wants a waterproof volume control in the shower. However simple this seems its not quite that easy. Does someone with some programming knowledge know if a raspberry pi could use its built in web server to control sonos from a contact closure?

Is it normal for these Sonos devices to send tens of thousands of probe requests per day? It is kind of flooding out my network analysis. I can just filter this traffic out, but before I do I wanted to find out if this is normal behavior. Between my three devices, over the last 1-2 hours, I have captured 14,000 probe requests. Seems kind of crazy. I have a Sonos Play:3, Playbar and Connect. They are all connected via wifi, none of them are plugged in. Examining my network traffic, I see that they are constantly spamming probe requests to Sonos_OPSFJSLDGNSODV (I made that name up but that's the basic idea). I guess that is a mesh network that the three devices use?

I'm trying to set up a sonos play that used to be in my home. Moving it to a boat using the marina wifi. It's not a public wifi - you have to have a slip/password to log in but I can't get it to work. Are these firewall issues? And if so any ideas how I can get past them? Thanks...

i have a multi zone sonos wired system. i have speakers on the patio and would like a bit more power out there. it would be great if sonos would update the software so u can "channel" the power of amps to power one set of speakers .. thoughts ?

From what I've read, SONOS BRIDGE creates a dedicated mesh network for the system. Does this mean that every time I want to use the SONOS app on my iPhone I will need to change the WiFi network settings on my phone?

Hi All, I have a large garden and an Ethernet cable running underground from my main router/wifi location (#1) to a secondary wifi/router setup as a repeater (#2). The two locations do not have continuous wifi coverage. My main house fed of #1 has been running without issue. I've recently connected a new Sonos to #2. I tried normal wifi setup but it failed. I tried the Ethernet cable (plugged into #2) and it worked fine. I could successfully get the new Sonos speaker to group with the ones connected to #1. However-it only works when connected via Ethernet cable. When I try to connect via wifi on #2 it does not work. I presume because #2 is giving off a different wifi connection than #1. Does anyone know how to make both of my routers appear as if they are giving off the same wifi network-as I assume the new Sonos speaker would then work wirelessly? To be clear-there is an Ethernet cable coming out of router#1, and plugged into router#2. This is the only way I can get inter

Hi there, I have a Pioneer VSX-527 receiver connected to my TV, speakers, a Mac mini, a Wii and an Apple TV. I use a Logitech Harmony to control most of this setup. I hate that I have to switch on the receiver and the Mac mini, and then run Spotify in order to stream Spotify in our home. (I could also Airplay it to the Apple TV, but I would still have to turn everything on, and I'd be dependant on a single mobile device.) I would like to be able to stream my Spotify music whenever I want, without first having to switch on stuff. But I need my receiver for connecting all my devices to my TV and my speakers. I would love to reuse these speakers for my music streaming, instead of having a separate system for this. So I'm thinking of placing a Sonos Connect:Amp between my receiver and my speakers. I could connect the speakers to the Connect:Amp and that would enable me to stream music over my existing speakers. But how can I connect the Pioneer receiver to the Connect:Amp? It does

Hi, I'm new to Sonos and to audio setups in general, but I've been reading a lot of posts on here the last few days (thanks Buzz for everything you write here!), and have pieced together an outline of a plan, but I have some missing pieces and wanted to confirm the pieces I *think* I've settled on. Here's my situation: ----- I moved into a 'pre-wired' house and am determining how I want to set up. ----- I have a spot at the home theater room that has: ---------- 5 wires (2 strand) for the 5 in-ceiling speakers that make up the home theater grouping ---------- 3 wires (4 strand) that head out to volume control boxes in other rooms (let's assume they are impedance matching VC boxes, but I still have to check and confirm) --------------- These other rooms have their respective VC boxes and 2 speakers, 2 speakers, and 1 speaker (bathroom). Hello Everyone, i have recently bought a few SONOS Play's and i found out that google play has the option to directly play to sonus devices. As i am an Android developer myself, i wanted to integrate that function into my own apps (or more specifically into my Favorites Podcast Client) I have searched google and the forums for a developer libary used to do so, but i could not find one ? So my Question: Is there a libary to include into your own apps so that you can integrate your app with sonus ? If not, i think that would be a great thing, as it would spread compatibility with sonus way faster than Sonus could ever integrate all Services on their own. Are there plans for Sonos to go beyond the 32 device limitation? I'm looking to set up a large Sonos network of possibly 50+ components.
