What to get

I want to replace part of my B&O installation with Sonos equipment. The current setup is the following: BEOCENTER 3 as a central Hub. Connected (on the "in-side") to this are : Satellite decoder ; Telenet Decoder ; Radio/CD player ; DVD Player. on the "out-side") a Panasonic TV Plasma operated only as a screen ; 1 B&O Subwoofer Beolab 2 ; 4 B&O speakers Beolab 8000 (Front Left and Right - Back Left and Right) ; 1 Central Front speaker B&O Beolab 3. I want to replace the sound part with SONOS ( Playbar ; Sub and 2 Play s 1,3 or 5's). Can anyone advise on if this is possible and how? Thnx in advance.

I've just won a Connect (ZP90) on eBay and want to use it to add Sonos to my bathoom (6'5" x 5'9" , 1.96m x 1.75m). I don't have much experience with audio tech so just looking for some advice on what to buy. I'm looking for fairly decent sound quality, though I'm not an audiophile, and good volume but it's only a small room. Amp: Am I right in thinking I need to buy an amp to power the speakers? If so, does price matter or would something like this be fine: http://amzn.to/2kJENgs (I'm planning on putting it all in the loft above the bathroom) Speakers: I'd be willing to go up to £100 or so but not sure if I need to spend that much, does stereo really matter for a bathroom or could I just get one speaker? Is there a specific stat I should be looking at? e.g. watts, ohms, amps etc? All advice welcome, thanks 😳

Hello All, I'm fairly new to the home entertainment system so I am looking for some advice on what is the best product to get that will suit my needs. I am hoping to install some (not yet looked into) internal ceiling speakers throughout my home, bathroom bedrooms living rooms etc. I am hoping there is something available that can connect either (wired or wireless) to all devices (phones, tablets and also TV) so I can play music in separate rooms, but also so I can play the audio of my TV through the ceiling speakers. I am hoping this is then controllable via an app so for instance, I can turn down the volume to my sons room when he plays XBOX! Does anyone know of a system that can achieve this? Any help on what is needed will be great!!

New to Sonos with a Connect:Amp running a couple of ceiling speakers quite nicely. My question concerns a vintage stereo system with very nice JBL Control Monitor speakers and a partially dead NAD 7020 integrated receiver. Is it better to repair/replace the receiver and add a Connect - no amp thereby being able to connect turntable etc. and still use the JBLs ... or junk the receiver and add the Connect:Amp. Looks like for the $150 cost difference in the Connect vs. Connect:Amp, I'm better to keep/fix or replace the receiver. Seems a break even proposition. Will the Connect:Amp be equal to the NAD is powering the JBLs? Am I missing something?

This is for anyone who is planning on buying a Connect! I hope to also cover concerns that you have that I also had before I bought one! I am posting this on Sonos's official website because I have LOTS of good to say about my experience! Why would I post something negative about Sonos here? (this doesn't mean I am biased ;p) TL;DR: It's gr8 and I now use them as my desktop speakers. My Sonos is now WAY more versatile than normal speakers and input delay isn't an issue even though it working through your WiFi. What made me buy a Sonos Connect? Was there any input delay? Was the delay significant in gaming and other applications? Was it easy to setup? I'll answer all of these! First off, I chose to buy a Connect due to the lack of inputs available for my two Sonos Play 1's. I loved the build quality and sound these speakers produced, and found the only way to get a line in was to buy a Sonos Connect. Even though the whole setup cost me almost £600, it was worth it! Hello, I'm building a new home and trying to plan out a whole home audio system based around Sonos, Amazon Echo Dot, Connect Amps, and external speakers. My main goals are to 1) have access to Sonos in most rooms of house, 2) Use Echo Dot, Connect Amp and ceiling speakers to voice control music in kitchen and master bathroom, 3) have 5.1 surround sound using playbar, subwoofer, and ceiling speakers. I would like to lay out my plans and hoping you all can tell me if it will work, how i could improve it, and if i'm missing anything. And of course all smart ass comments to tell me how stupid I am are welcome 1) Kitchen: Amazon echo dot wired to Connect Amp...and Connect amp wired to ceiling speakers in the kitchen. Basically want to be able to say to the Echo Dot to play music off Spotify/Amazon/Sonos. Also, at times I want the option of being able to use my iphone/SONOS App to play music on the kitchen speakers and zone them with other rooms if/when I want to (ie: play a song

I have a pretty nice wired receiver but I need to move to a wireless setup. I'm thinking of buying the Sonos Connect to attach to that receiver/amplifier, but I'm wondering what the point of even holding on to that amplifier/receiver is, considering that Sonos speakers are each independently powered. My understanding is that the receiver would continue to feed the Sonos Connect multiple sources like a record player, optical TV audio, etc. However, the Sonos Connect would not control the wired speakers attached to the receiver, and the receiver's amplifier would basically be a brick. If my understanding is correct, wouldn't I be better off selling my receiver/amplifier and using lining in audio to the Sonos Connect so it can send the music signal to each independently powered speaker? Not quite understanding the role of a receiver/amplifier when all speakers are independently powered.

Hi, I recently purchased two play 1's for my home office and set them up in stereo setting and really appreciate the output. As such, I have contemplated adding more Sonos units to my main living space. The primary purpose for the system is to play Spotify but would be a bonus if it worked as rear speakers if possible with my current TV/ home theater setup. Current Equipment: - Denon AVR-S710W 525-Watt 7.2 Channel 3D Home Theatre Receiver - Mourdant Short (2 wall mounted speakers + 1 centre channel) I am trying to determine if I should: 1) buy a Connect + 2 play 1's and use them as rear speakers for TV and also use them for music + a subwoofer 2) buy a play 5 since its new and use it for music alone and maybe later if new play 3's come out get two and move the play 5 elsewhere 3) In future, I may want to add wall mounted 2 Play 1's in diagonal corners of the dining room as well. Looking for thoughts on this placement as the room is a bit of a hexagon shape. 4) also

I'm wondering if I can use a Sonos Connect:Amp to connect my Roku TV, LP player (currently played through my Roku TV built-in speakers), and two Echo Dots (instead of waiting for the formal 2017 Sonos/Alexa integration) to my two Sonos Play:1 speakers. I use one Dot and one Play:1 in my bathroom and all else in my living room. More specifically, I'm wondering: 1. If all my Dots will play through the Sonos system if only one Dot is plugged in 2. If I can add the built-in Roku TV speakers to my Sonos system, to use as an extra set of speakers while streaming music from non-Roku devices or watching Roku TV 3. If I can connect my Roku TV, LP player, and Echo Dots to the Connect:Amp simultaneously

Any recommendations on two play 1's vs. a play 5 for a kitchen/tv area setup? I am thinking of placing the unit(s) on the 3 foot high shelf ("short bookshelf" in picture) and was leaning to two play 1's for the potential to use as rear speakers for TV setup but that is really secondary and want to ensure nice sounding music fills the tv/kitchen space (vs. just if I am sitting on the couch) and potentially can be heard in dining room as background music so then thought the play 5 may be better at filling that space? So options I am thinking: 1) two play 1's on bookshelf 2) 1 play 5 on bookshelf (I lean towards this) 3) 1 play 5 and subwoofer (but may be too costly for now) 4) 2 play 1's and subwoofer (but may be too costly for now) Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hi all, I recently bought myself a couple of play 1's to get me started. The plan is to expand over time. I'm happy to listen to streamed music these days but the wife is insisting that we must have a CD player as we already own hundrends of cd's. I'd like to get a sonos set up in the lounge and the choice comes down to 1x play 5 or a pair of play 1's. I know that the play 5 has a line in (to connect existing CD player) but is there any advantage of using a connect over the line in on the play 5? If not I'll just listen to the play 5 and compare with stereo play 1's. Also if I use the line in on a play 5 is there a time delay between the music in different rooms? Thanks

Is there ever any chance that Sonos will work with the amazing Roon?

I'd like to add a Play 1 to my existing home theater system that I have a TV, CD player and 2 video disc players connected to. I'd like to play audio from all devices through the Play 1 and I assume I need a Connect to do so Is that correct? Assuming I do, an issue is: all of my RCA speaker outputs of my RX-V475 are taken by the surround sound speakers. I do have open AV OUT RCA jacks but if I hook the Connect to those jacks, will it transmit any component audio signal playing through the amp to the Play 1? What jacks on the amp should can I run the Connect output to? Thanks in advance.

First steps with Sonos ... We have an open plan living/dining/kitchen area, around 6m x 8m, with a couple of central pillars. Kitchen in one corner, lounge space along one long half, utility space in remaining corner. Would we be best with: - 2 x 5's one at each end of lounge space, perhaps a 1 in the kitchen. Maybe overkill? - 1 x 5 centrally placed on long wall in lounge space. With two 1's in opposite corners. - 4 x 1's in each corner, maybe add a sub? Much appreciated!

Hi all, i intend on buying sonos speakers to listen to music in my roughly 80m2 living and dining room. Which speakers would you recommend? I assume 2 play 1 will not be sufficient, right? My budget is sufficient for max 4x play 1 or 2 play 3, or one play 5. Thanks a lot

Hi All I'm looking to buy a Sonus setup. I have a new Samsung TV HD 4K and I would like to play music from the TV, particularly You Tube but also from my Galaxy phone and from my Ipad. It looks like I need the Play Bar and a wireless Sub to play from the TV but can I play from my phone/iPad thorugh the Play Bar :? Thanks 😃

Hi I'm proposing to buy a Player, sub & 2 Play 1 speakers and need to know whether the system would be compatible with my Samsung UE75KS8000. You list the 55KS800 TV as compatible but the 75" is not mentioned when you deal with the bigger sizes. Also, are there any issues with the Samsung 4K Blue Ray player? Thanks Nigel Cohen

I have a Samsung smart TV connected to a Samsung HW-K450 wirelessly, using Sound Connect - it cannot be wired as there's not enough space. I also have two SONOS PLAY:1, which atm I'm just using for music. What's my best option to keep TV and soundbar on their wireless connection, and add in the two SONOS PLAY:1? The soundbar doesn't have a line out. I thought of getting a sonos connect wired to the TV, but I'm not sure if I can output to two sources at the same time

Hello, I have 14 ceiling speakers in my house and I'm looking for an amp that would enable me to play music with the best possible control features. At the very least, I would like the following features: - control via an app - ability to play different music in different zones from different devices i.e. multiple phones I have no background in this field and I'm looking for advice on which amp/equipment will enable me to make my house into an exciting beat box!

I have 8 ceiling speakers in 4 different rooms in my house. Each room has already a volume switch for 2 speakers on the room. I bought a very cheap receiver and I don't know if I did it right, the receiver keep shutting off every 20 minutes. I think its because it doesn't have enough power. I'm willing to spend some money to get the right thing but I need to know what to buy...do I need an AMP and a Receiver? And if yes, which one will I need to power all these speakers with no problem for 6 to 8 hours???

With this approx £200. However, anyone know what the quality would be like from a play 1 pointing downwards ? (electrically this would also be great as I have sockets in the attic)

I am a sonos virgin but just built one big room for my kitchen/entertaining space. It measures 21 meters by 9meters. I want to have a sonos system and don't know where to start ? I also want sonos in my other rooms- 2 bathrooms/ lounge/ master bedroom. Do I buy a bunch of play 5's and start from there ? Any help appreciated - thanks in advance. Colin
