What to get

I've read several posting about why I cant get them to connect, and I think the solution is an HDMI switch with optical output. Morning, I want to have a couple of external speakers to my sonos so I know i will need to get a connect amp for these. My other question is i have a surround sound system with built in amp in my lounge which i would like to use too, can i use the connect amp to connect this too or do I need to buy the sonos connect without the amp? Many thanks

I'm considering getting a sonos setup for the kitchen, living room (tv), bedroom and study. I don't need it to be the loudest as I don't want to annoy the neighbours. What would you guys recommend for the following: Kitchen: 2x play 1s? or 1x play 3 Living room (tv): playbase or play 3 & 2x play 1? Bedroom & study: 1x play 1 or 2 in each room? thanks in advance

Can this be done and if so, how? I have 4 Gen2 Play5s all in one room. Of course I grouped them together to all play in that room. In my other room I have my Bose surround system with a Denon receiver. What do I need, if anything can, to hook up and make the Bose work with Sonos? I've been told the playbass will do it and replace my center speaker but I'm not sure if it will work or how.

so we currently have an a CD player which connects to a set of speakers using ONLY the audio out red/white cable All the speakers are wired to a central point (around 10 in total) with the 1 red/white cable going from the back of the player into the speaker central point Would a connect be suitable to replace the CD player on its own? So the connect would be stand alone to stream Spotify with a single cable connected to the red/white output and it stream the music through the speakers? Thanks

Hello, My house has a Leviton HiFi2 system with ceiling speakers. There are 8 speakers on the main floor that are broken into 4 zones. I can blue tooth or connect directly to the system with a head phone jack to play music. I currently use my old Nexus 4 as a source for the system. I use a Leviton app (only works on Apple) to control the speaker volume. I am looking at Sonos to become the central hub to the system and I would also like to add 2 WiFi speakers in two different areas. So to me it looks like I would need a Connect and 2 Play5s. The Connect would be hard wired with Ethernet with a broadband connection and the speakers would connect wireless into my Wifi network. WiFi coverage is solid where I need the speakers. Would I plug in an Ethernet cable, power and then a headphone jack between the Connect and the Leviton system? Will Sonos be able to control the speaker zones (4 existing and 2 new for the Play5s) and volume of all the speakers? Can I

Now that the Playbase is out, is it better than the Playbar? Any thoughts? I currently have the Playbar, Sub and two Play 1s and 65'' LG OLED TV for my home theater. Should I sell my Playbar for the Playbase? Can the Playbase handle the weight of my TV? Thanks!

I have a turntable connected to an old Marantz amp. I have a Sonos Connect running through the tape-out so that I can play my turn table through my 5.1 system (playbar, sub, 2 play 1's) I am also considering purchasing a pair of play 1's for another room across house...and also to move / setup outdoors on nice days. My other option is a play 5 in place of the pair of play 1's...... which would represent better sound for turntable?

I already have a nice Subwoofer that I'd like to integrate with my pair of Play 1 speakers. The Sonos Connect seems like a possible way to do this. First question: Can I pair the Play 1's with a Subwoofer via the Connect? Second question: could the Connect be used with the Playbar (if I were to get one) for home theater?

I currently live in a small ish apartment and have one play 1 for the living room I want to expand and am debating Between a play 1 or play 5. If I went with the play 1 I would create a stereo pair and leave them in the living room. If I went with a play 5 I'd keep that in the living room and move the play 1 to the kitchen or bedroom. I worry that the play 5 would be To much for my living room but I do like having multiple zones Thoughts are welcome

Have a 345 sq ft basement living / TV room (23' x 15'). Leaning towards a Playbar + SUB for simple TV watching, but was also considering a pair of ceiling speakers driven off a connect that would be shared with other rooms. When I decide to group all speakers together to play a single source in, say, "party mode", will I experience a delay between the Playbar + SUB and the connect-driven speakers in the same room?

I already own a Sonos Connect:AMP and I would like to hook up the rest of the rooms of my house. My house is about 11 years old and was wired with good speakers, but an obsolete media playing system. There are 3 Rooms that I would like to hook up to their own "Room" on the Sonos app, so that they can all play different music hypothetically. All of the wires to the speakers are already wired to a centralized cabinet in my living room. I am looking to add a DAC to my SONOS - Nak RE1 - KEF Q70 system, and am considering the Schiit Bifrost. My source is a wide range of ALAC, MP3 and AAC material. Any advice, is it worth it? Am I likely to hear the "wider, more detailed, deeper, etc." sound the reviewers write about.

I've done a bit of research (and tried to find the answer in this forum but didnt!) and wanted to confirm I understand what I'm interested in buying We primarily stream music and play records--both through our old receiver and speakers. We're looking to keep our receiver and ditch the speakers both for better sound and better size. Our receiver is not near our router so I am looking at a play:5 to be able to connect our reciever/record player to for the living room- without the need for a connect or bridge or other tools Additionally, a single play:1 for the outdoor porch to be able to broadcast the records inside or stream other tunes. I'm considering my first foray with Sonos products and currently am running a basic setup of Yamaha receiver with iPod dock and pair of Klipsch F2 floor standing speakers. I bought this setup new about 10 years ago but still do enjoy it. The room with the system is our living area with a large vault and the Klipsch speakers do a great job of filing the space even at a low volume. I was thinking of switching to a Sonos Connect option for ease of use as we are mostly only streaming or playing music off our iphone libraries at this point. My questions are as follows: 1) Is there any reason to keep the Yahama receiver and use Connect? Or should I just get a Connect:Amp? 2) Will a Connect:Amp run well and properly power the Klipsch speakers? 3) Any other suggestions as related to this setup? We are not audiophiles but enjoy having music on daily. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

So, am thinking of investing in 2 x Play1 and a Play 3 Device for the rooms. I would also like to get the Connect device. Let me explain my setup. Presently, I have a Technics separate system, including MiniDisc (dont laugh), MultiCD and Record Player. We use this setup presently to play and listen to Old Vinyl, Mini Disc Recordings and obviously existing CD Collection. I also have a iTunes playlist stored on a Western Digitial NAS, nearly 250Gb worth of ripped CD's. We also use Spotify on iPhones/iPads/Android phones. I also have a 3 x 4kHD ANDROID SONY TV's dotted around the house, with the main one in the living room being Sony Android TV with wired soundbar and bass driver. (PS4 connected also). I am also re-wiring the house to effectively give WIred Ethernet to any smart enabled device, including TV's. WiFi signal is OK, but I just dont trust it enough. So, question time. I would like to be able to listen to anything from the technics system, ANYWHERE in the house, Is

I am about to buy a Play 1 to use with my android phone. I do not use any music streaming services such as Pandora but simply shuffle through my own onboard songs. Will Sonos let me do this? Thanks in advance

I've recently purchased the Soundbar. I want to build on it now. This would be for TV viewing and music. I've been reading the reviews and will likely stay away from the Play 3. So, would you do a SUB for sure? If I did a SUB, then thinking 2 Play 1's. Or, should I skip the SUB and do maybe 1 Play 5? This is a downstairs open living room (with TV), dining room, kitchen area. It's about 1300 sf. I know I'll add Play 1's later for upstairs bedrooms. Thoughts?

Hi All, I love Sonos and have been working towards expanding my current set up in my new house. I've gone from a flat to a 3 bed house and need music to envelop my living space accordingly. I currently have a Playbar with Sub and 2 Play 1's as surrounds in the lounge. I want some speakers for the kitchen/diner and also the bedroom. I was planning to do this slowly and pick up a piece or two over time but now that Sonos plan to hike the prices up in 8 days I am taking the plunge and getting the credit card out. I just need some advice on what would best suit my circumstances as i'm going in circles. So I was originally thinking a pair of 1's for the kitchen, then I toyed with getting 1 Play 5, but what about a pair of Play 3's... I can't seem to decide. The room is 6m x 2.5m and whatever I get will be on a shelving unit at one end of the room. The bedroom would be fine with one or two Play 1's so that's no problem. Ok, I'm interested in setting up a SONOS sound system throughout my house. This is what I would like to accomplish. Living Room: A good speaker connected to the TV. Which also could be used as a speaker for music from the SONOS system. Game Room: A speaker connected to the SONOS System. Backyard: A speaker connected to the SONOS System. One thing is that I would like to have at least one speaker be able to connect to any music device and not use the SONOS app. I want friends to be able to come over and use their phone, or a DJ to use their system to connect to the SONOS system. This is what I think I will need. Living Room: SONOS sound bar. Game Room and Backyard: One Play one, and one Play 5. The play 5 is necessary as it is the only device able to connect to using a 3.5mm jack. Does this sound correct to you all? Thanks.

Contemplating purchasing a Sonos system. Have complete Apple system including AirPlay. Sonos documentation says I need to have AirPort Express (entry level unit); I have AirPort Time Capsule (the premium unit) already installed. Can I use my Time Capsule to establish the AirPlay connection? Or do I need a separate (and redundant) AirPort Express?

Please anyone thinking of buying sonos please don't make the same mistake I did! Play bar went dead in less then 2 years. They only have one year warranties. I spent $800 some dollars on this thing and now it's a dead unit! They offered to replace it for $200!! What a joke!!! Seen around the Internet a lot of people are having the same issues! Please don't buy this people!
