What to get

Is there any news on an updated version of the Five?An Era 500 for example? I’m surprised nothing has been mentioned yet seeing as it came out in 2020 and is lacking some of the functions the newer Era 300 has. I’m looking to get a new speaker but just cant spend on a Five now, this late into it’s lifecycle. I’ve seen quite a few similar posts online.

I want to add a Pro-Ject to my sonos system.  I also want to listen to my vinyl using Sonos ACE headphones.  What other sonos product must I purchase to make this work?  I do not have an ARC and suffer from all the outdated Sonos equipment I have -- it all sounds and works great but is quickly obsolete when Sonos adds new products -- it ages so quickly.  Help?

I have a small room but a 90-in projector screen setup. I'm curious if the beam is too small for the projector screen or if the arc is too big for the room. I also intend to purchase a sub and two SLs.

I have a Samsung smart tv with Sonos soundbar and play 1 speakers. Sometimes the speech is difficult to hear. Is there a Sonos product that I could add to my system that would improve quality of speech?

I’m about to buy a Sonos system purely for music. I was thinking about a pair of Era 100’s and a Sub mini. But after more research I’m now considering the Five. But do I need 2 of them for stereo sound? It would make the set-up a lot more expensive.My only consideration is sound quality, (and the price of course!) so am I going to better my first option of using a sub & 2 Era 100’s, with a system without a sub?I would appreciate some experienced input with this. ‘

Hello. I'm wondering if Sonos is the right solution for what I'm looking for and, if so, which products. This question is actually on behalf of my parents. They are wedded to a large CD collection and have no interest in streaming, at least for now. They'd like a setup for their television (soundbar and possibly also a sub) that ALSO has an audio input to which they can attach their CD player. I think they plan a single room setup for now, but would like the option to add speakers down the road that will allow for music from the CD player to play in multiple rooms.One other relevant piece of information: they live in a community that has a common wifi network for residents. I'm not sure whether they have their own wifi network in their unit (although they may - I will check). Does that mean Sonos can't be used for the purposes above?Thanks, appreciate everyone’s help.

Hi AllI’m new to Sonos and a music fanatic. I’m looking to put a Sonos system in an outdoor space called a naya. It wont get wet or ever be in direct sunlight. From the small amount of research I have done, it looks like a Sub Mini and 2 x Era 100 speakers would do nicely.Would they be ok with the humidity?Does this seem a good starting point, and could I add a screen at a later date?Do all 3 require mains power?Have I missed anything?Any input much appreciated!Many thanksColin

I have a arc system with sub and two ones as rear speakers. When playing music from smart tv apps, such as Spotify and watching music videos, I don’t get the best sound quality, like I do when listening to music through the Sonos app. I have found out that the arc system has two modes. One for watching tv, and one for playing music. When listening to music through tv apps, It will only play in tv mode, and you don’t get that good music sound quality the system is capable of producing. So I wonder why Sonos don’t have a manual “switch” for this?  I would love to have great music sound quality also when listening to tv apps and watching music videos.

I live in a standalone apartment with no one above, sides, front or back of me, so cranking up the volume is not an issue.  my apartment is laid out with both a family room and dining room adjoining each other with a side kitchen and the question I have with a 17‘ x 33‘ living and dining room area combined, would I be best served with 2 ERA 100 speakers or 2 ERA 300? I now have a Beam gen2 with a sub mini and would upgrade to a GEN 2 Arc when it comes out later this year or next year or whenever. I’m 79 years old and my hearing is not that great, but would like speech clarity in the movies I watch. After getting my sub mini along with the beam 2, the experience has improved greatly with my Samsung TV. Would I be best served foregoing the side surroundsound speakers and keep my current set up? I don’t care about wasting more money if I’m not gonna get a good improvement.  

Is there a wireless speaker that will allow me to hear TV programs audio?

After spending thousands of dollars on Sonos products they’ve now released an “update” that makes all of it mostly unusable. They added no features, they improved no functions, all they did was incorporate advertising. Now I have to scroll through crap adds on my phone before I can try to play music on the speakers I paid stupid amounts of money for. That is, if I can even get it to work given the app fails to work and/or outright crashes most of the time. And on top of that, I’m now getting relentless emails, text messages, and popups advertising their headphones. As if I’d ever give them another dime. Learn from my mistake - don’t buy app connected or controlled hi-fi gear. This is what happens, even if the company has been trustworthy in the past.

I want to set up a home surround system with Sonos speakers.  My preference is to use four in ceiling speakers and one Beam.  Will this do for a good setup?  My preference is to primarily use in ceiling speakers for this purpose.

Hello, I know there are a lot of similar discussion, but I did’t find my solution now. Maybe it’s just to individual, but let’s give it a try.For years I have my two Sonos Play 5 (1st Gen) in the living room, one Play 1 in the kitchen and another Play 1 in the bedroom.For now I like to upgrade my living room. Mostly listen to music => Spotify, mainly Rap & Pop, therefore the Play 5 as a stereo pair are perfect.  But I like to add a Soundbar for a little home theater. Beam Gen2 in mind. Ratio Music to Movie is about 70:30 Room is around 40 square meter.Now my question: Which would be the best solution for listen to music in a good stereo quality but still have the option to enjoy movies with Dolby Atmos?Option 1: Two Era 300 and Beam 2 Option 2: Two Era 100, Sub Mini, Beam 2 Option 3: Open for suggestions in ± same BudgetWhat do you think? 

I am wondering which would be better for listening to music - mostly vinyl at low ish volumes in a smallish sized dining room 3.5 m x 4 m.Cost is about the same ATM with upgrade pricing. Era 100 x 2 plus sub mini or 2 x Five? many thanks

So. Lived in cheap rental. Got 55"tv, sonos beam gen 2 and sub mini. That was eargasm compared to what i was listening before.Fast forward not 2 years later, bought a small flat.  Now im sitting about 1m further away from tv with sofa right in the corner against the wall. And now i just dont LOVE my setup. Now dont get me wrong, still a big upgrade from tv, but feels like i have to turn sound up too much to get the same effect. And beam just feels... smaller? sub still shakes the window easily so not looking to upgrade that. My sofa is maybe a couple inches from the back wall and maybe 20cm from side wall.  So my question is. If i want…. More. do i have space for surrounds? Would 300’s be wasted in less  than ideal placement? should i get 100? i cant move sofa forward. Maybe just a little to the side.Or i have no space for surrounds and i should upgrade to arc? For lack of better words, im looking for ‘bigger’? sound so i can listen quieter and still be happy. mostly video streaming, g

All of my six Sonos speakers are compatible with S2 except two of my Play 5 S1’s. Decided I don’t need new Play 5 speakers but would like to replace them with what use to be called Play 3 instead. What is the closest match to the old Play 3.Thank YouJohn

HelloI know many are disappointed that the coming Sonos Ace headphones will not act as a “room’ in the Sonos ecosystem. However, there is a plausible explanation that may apply to a limited number of Sonos users. More on that later (see Side Note).Also at launch the Ace headset will only receive TV audio (no music audio) from an Arc soundbar to be followed by the Beam (Gen 1&2) and possibly the Ray. I am building a new house and trying to figure out the speaker situation in the entertainment room.  I want to make it look as sleek and minimalistic as possible, so was thinking about using the in wall/in ceiling speakers.  Given that it is a new build, I can still run wires wherever needed.  Just need some help or recommendations.  In general, what I as thinking was 2-3 (right, left, center) in ceiling speakers in the rear and 2-3 in wall speakers in the from (right, left, center).  Is this reasonable.  Would it be better to use an Arc instead from the front, or would it be even better to use an arc at the center and then two in walls as the front left and right?

HelloI’ll keep this short; but first let’s address the elephant(s) in the room straight away….Yes, the Sonos App is still somewhat of a work in progress. Enough said on that. Sonos Ace headphones do not connect over Wi-Fi in the same manner as other Sonos products; and therefore do not appear as a “speaker” in the Sonos app. That’s good news as the Ace Headphones will not impact the number of Sonos units on a single system which is 32. Assuming I’ve made the correct interpretation 😂🤔I imagine that the latter comes as a shock to most. HiThe question is often asked “does a Sonos Sub improve the listening experience of Sonos speakers”. IMO the answer is “Yes”. The more prudent answer given by community members (in most cases) is to suggest that the person asking the question allow their ears to make the final judgement. Meaning…purchase a Sonos sub and return it within the Sonos return window for your region; if not satisfied.  In the US the Sonos return window is 45 days. You can also do the same from a local or online retailer that offers a reasonable return policy/window.Sonos speakers (IMO) are great but none offer the low-end that I prefer...not even the excellent Sonos Five. Hi this is somewhat confusing and would have expected the Sonos site to be more wizard like to assist choosing a turntable. We have an arc, sub and 2x plays 1s in the lounge, we have play bar and 2x 1s in bedroom. We have a 5 gen1 in kitchen and a play 1 in the study. we would like to add a turntable to the mix. Ideally hooked up in the lounge to the arc and I revive I need a pre out amp integrated into the turntable and connect that to a port or connect which will enable the turntable to play to any speaker? The other option is to buy a high end turntable that has WiFi built in? Thank you

I am new to Sonos and new to surround sound/Dolby atmos. I recently purchased an Arc soundbar and am planning on purchasing a sub mini. I believe this will put me at 5.1.2? I was originally planning on adding 2x Era 300s to achieve 7.1.4 but the decoration committee vetoed that and would prefer an in wall solution. Now I am looking at the sonance in-ceiling/in-wall options and I have a few questions: Can I achieve 7.1.4 by adding both in-ceiling and in-wall with two amps? By adding only the in-walls would this be 7.1.2? What is preferred and why? The 8in in-ceiling or the in-wall?  Thank you!
