What to get

Hi! I would very much appreciate some advice from the community regarding choosing a Sonos unit for a very specific room layout ?. Please consider the enclosed floor plan, and bear in mind that no changes can be made to layout of the room or seating arrangement (so I will always be sititng ’off-axis’, and never usually in a sweet spot for stereo). * I will choose between a Play:5 or a Playbase only. No sub. * The unit will be used for music only. No TV. * The position marked on the floor plan is the only possible location for the unit. My question: Which choice is likely to give the best performance for music playback - a Play:5 or a Playbase? I understand that the Playbase for music-only might be an unorthodox choice, but aesthetically it would work great in my room. Has anyone here any direct experience with the Playbase who can compare it directly to the Play:5? Thanks in advance, /James

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on ceiling mount installations of Play:1 or Play:3 speakers that do not involve the Flexson products? The Flexson ceiling mount would be perfect but they are ludicrously expensive and I have not found many alternative products available. I have a screened in porch that I want to place a speaker on that is entirely sheltered for about 4 months of the year with a vaulted wood ceiling and available power supply but can't find many more cost effective options for ceiling mount.

In the midst of a major home renovation and trying to determine the best configuration for my needs. Currently (in my old house) I use a 7-channel receiver wired to 5 channel soundbar for TV audio. I also have a 5-channel receiver currently wires to 2 sets of speakers. NEW HOUSE WISH LIST: 1. Basement: in-ceiling vs sonos 1 for gym 2. Kitchen: in-ceiling 3. Dining/living: in-ceiling (location is between these 2 rooms) 4. Den (TV area): sound for TV. Would like ability to play sonos here as well 5. Back deck: exterior wired speakers 6. Master bedroom: in-ceiling I'm struggling with how to incorporate my existing receivers, sonos CONNECT:AMPs and/or CONNECT, and freestanding sonos speakers. Here are my current plans with a few questions: 1. TV: I think it would be simplest to keep my current TV/receiver/wired soundbar setup for watching TV. If I want to play sonos through the soundbar, is it as simple as using a CONNECT? 2. Kitchen/dining/living: I should be able to use o

Here is the situation: I have a fairly large space (including living room, kitchen, dining room, tv area) which is pretty much all open plus a deck. Currently renovating and planning for audio. Number of speakers: Living room 6 , kitchen 2, dining 2, TV area 2, deck 2. I'd like on/off/volume control for different areas. I can't see playing different sources but I suppose that would be a feature. Option 1) 1 Connect:amp per speaker pair. That's 7 x $500 = $3500 Option 2) 1 Connect for each area + multichannel amp. 3 Connects (living room, kitchen/dining/tv, and deck) plus something like the Russound D1650. That's 3 x $350 + $1000 = $2050 plus I get two extra channels or I could bridge to the outdoor speakers. The D1650 has screws for volume control on each speaker so I could fine tune before using Connect for volume control. I'd lose some of the savings in wiring and figuring out some 12V trigger workaround. Thoughts?

Just ordered a pair of Play:5's and am going to need a floor stand. Looks like the Flexon is the only one that fits the new Play:5? It will only allow landscape orientation though, which is kind of a bummer. Are there any other floor stand options available that will fit this speaker?

Isoacoustic stands often provide dramatic improvement for monitors and subs regardless whether they are mid-fi or hi-fi by tightening the bass and mids - increasing the fidelity. Question: 1. Anyone tried the smallest L8R130 for the Sonos 1/One? 2. Anyone tried the L8R155 for the Sonos 5? 3. For good measure, anyone tried those for the Sub? And did you hear improvements? I have 2 configurations I’ve been debating on for an outside inground pool sound system. Option 1: (1) Sonos Connect:Amp (4) TIC GS3 - each speaker is 100W and an Impedance of 8 Option 2: (1) Sonos Connect (1) Pioneer VSX-D411 Receiver/Amplifier - has 5 channels at 100W per channel with an impedance of 8 (4) TIC GS3 - each speaker is 100W and an impedance of 8 I’m leaning toward Option 2 due to the matching of the Watts per channel and impedance. The Sonos Connect:Amp says (2x55w) which makes me feel like I’m going to underpower the speaker and potentially stress out the connect:amp. It also seems like I won’t be able to maximize the sound of those speakers (which could lead to less quality). Am I right in thinking this? Or am I way off? I think I’m just looking for a nudge/confirmation that my instincts are correct. Thanks for any help the community can provide.

Hello, I am remodeling my bathroom and shower and would like to put speaker(s) directly in the shower area on the ceiling powered by a Connect:Amp. The shower is approximately 60”x36”. Is that enough space for a pair of Polk RC60i speakers? My concern is that the ceiling will be a little crowded with two can lights and a ceiling mount shower head. Would I be better off with a single stereo speaker like the RC6s?

We are looking to spend about $1k to begin a Sonos sound system in our large home. Currently we have a decent stereo with two 17-year-old Klipsch speakers and a Yamaha HTR 5240 receiver (which was a freebie from a family member after our other very expensive receiver broke) in the family room, where the TV is. We run the TV audio through that receiver. We have a Tivoli radio with a line in (no bluetooth) in the kitchen. Main living space has open floor plan with a kitchen, dining room, and large living room with no TV. The living room is 24' X 15.' We want speakers in the main living area, connectivity to the family room stereo, a speaker in one bathroom, our kids' bedroom, and our own large bedroom where there is also a TV. I was recently impressed when my daughter threw Channel 4 on my ipad onto her TV via an Apple TV box. I have two Play:3 speakers and a Boost in my lounge. My question is: can I throw Channel 4 onto my TV via Playbase with audio out to my Play:3 speakers? A secondary question must be can I subsequently push my TV audio out to the same Play:3 speakers. Advice and Guidance much appreciated.

I fairly new to sonos and currently have 4 play 1's spread out throughout my apartment. I fell in love with the sound from the play 5 and want to add somethings to my living room set up. have a vizio tv with a 4th gen  tv. Recently upgraded to a larger tv I want to set up a system for my living room. My tv is currently in a cabinet. I like closing the doors to hide the tv. I have been obsessing over whether to get the playbase or the Playbar. I initially wanted a playbase for its looks and setup but the playbar blew me away with its full, round sound. The playbase seems better for dialogue and tv use but the bar is much rounder and fuller for music. I listen to music more than watch tv. I don't plan on getting a sub. If I put the speaker directly under the tv it will be inside the cabinet and may limit the sound; I will have to open the doors everytime I want to listen to music. Hi. Moving into a newly built cottage in June. Trying to decide on the best Sonos package for my needs. Thinking so far. Living Room: Sound Bar + 2 Ones + Sub package. Kitchen: 2 x Ones + 1 x Spot or Dot Main Bathroom: 1 x One Bedrooms: A One in each room Just a couple of questions please: Is it possible to create a stereo pair from a One and a Play One? Ideally I'd like to be able to take and make mobile calls across the Sonos speakers. Am I correct in thinking this is possible with an Amazon Spot or Dot connected to a One? Would a call's sound come through the Sonos speakers in the kitchen rather than the Dot/Spot? I had considered a 5 for the kitchen as I like bass and depth in my music. The general consensus seems to be that I'd miss stereo sound more if I were to do that, so at the mo I'm opting for 2 x Ones instead. Im a complete novice when it comes to Wireless music systems and Sonos products, so apologies for the dumb questions, but here goes ... I am having my house renovated so have the opportunity to install speakers in the ceilings of my home so I can stream music around the house. I want to have 3 zones in total each one with ceiling speakers: Zone One in our front lounge (which is a kids room, 5m x 4m in size), connected to the smart TV in the same room. Kids can then stream their own music (from their phones). I want to have this zone connected to the TV in the same room so the sounds comes from the ceiling speakers. Zones two and three are also on the ground floor but in a separate very large open space (kitchen/diner/lounge) which is about 15m x 6m in size. New to Sonos, not an audiophile at all but bought a vacation house and the smoking hot young girlfriend thinks bringing in some music would be a good idea. The previous owner of my house did a decent job, 15 years ago, creating a 10-zone speaker system throughout the house. All the ceiling-embedded speakers in each room are wired into a set of Niles SSVC-6 speaker selectors in a closet, and then these selectors are wired into a Sony receiver. The receiver has it's input set to an FM receiver and set to a local radio station most of the time, and local volume control for each zone is controlled by a wall-mounted volume nob. So, i can walk into any room of the house and turn a knob and hear that one radio station. Changing the input requires me to go into the closet, and of course, all rooms get the same input. I'm looking to modernize and extend this system with Sonos components. I have a few goals: * extend the system into two areas that don't have speakers * add streaming sources such as Spotify * be able to control the input source from my phone * Try to clump my 10 existing zones into about 4 that should be able to have

I currently have a play:5 (gen2) stereo pair in the living room (on either side of the TV on the mantle) that i use for music, but i also have a playbase in there (under said TV). I'm wondering if it might be worth adding a sub to the playbase and using the 5s elsewhere in the house. Obviously the sound will be different and the stereo separation would be lacking, so I guess I'm just looking for qualitative opinions. Has anyone tried both of these combinations? Thoughts? Thanks!

I'm looking to buy a power cable with a UK-head for a Sonos Connect that is coming from the USA. Yes, I could go to a store I guess but would like to purchase one online. Could anyone in the know advise what 'type' of connector goes into the Sonos Connect? It seems to be that rounded 2-hole type. What is the technical name for it, so that I might order the right item? I bought my first Sonos (Play:3) in November 2017 and love it. I’m hooked on Sonos. I’m looking to expand the system with another 2 or 3 speakers and would appreciate recommendations and/or if my plan sounds like a good one. Prior to buying the Play:3, the last time I bought quality speakers was in 1995 when I bought my Cerwin-Vega DX-7s, which I’m still rocking today in my home office. Since then I’ve only acquired a smattering of lower quality bookshelf or computer speakers, and a fairly cheap 9-year-old Onkyo HT-S3200 5.1 system I use with my TV. Needless to say, I’m loving the sound of the Play:3 and have been deliberating how to expand the system. The Play:3 does a great job filling the main living area of my house, but I’d like to take the sound to the next level. My Sonos system has suddenly started to drop out....not happy......I’ve spent a lot of money, relying on Sonos. Disappointed

I am currently in the process of building a new house. I own 4 Play:1's wanted to use them in 4 rooms throughout the house (Kitchen, Dining Room, Screened Porch, and Office). The builder is suggesting I purchase the On-Q /Legrand lyriQ™ Single Source 4 Zone Audio Distribution Hub and let them install Klipsch in-celing speakers (1650c) in those 4 rooms and use the Play:1's elsewhere. Is there a way to install or would anyone recommend installing Play:1's in the ceiling? Or should I consider the builder solution and purchase a Sonos Connect to plug into the distribution hub with in-celing speakrs? Thanks, -Matt
