What to get

does anyone here use sonos with google wifi or bt whole house wifi? Do you have any issues at all? I need to get one of these for my flat.

After much reading in this forum I decided to go for a Sonos system to replace our old Hifi system in the living room (80 m2 / 860 sq ft). Note that is only for music - I don't own a TV. In this forum, the consensus seems to be that the luxury option would be two Sonos:5 and a Sub, but that a pair of Ones and the Sub was almost indistinguishable from it. So I went for the pair of Ones + Sub, set up as a stereo-pair and adjusted with TruePlay. I'm not impressed. Sound is fine in the lows (obviously), but really weak in the mid-tones. What shall I do? Return the Ones and get a pair of Play:5? I want to be sure that this is a significant upgrade. Most posts seem to compare a pair of Play:5 w/o Sub to the pair of Ones and Sub, and the one post that compares both pairs with Subs concludes that the difference is barely noticable. Is this true?

VINYL! I absently fumbled into a local weekend record market and walked out with 10 vinyl albums! Nothing to play them on though! So jumped online and soon a brand new Pro Ject turntable arrived. Hooked it into the Play 5s and oh my freaking aunt! I’m back in love with music! Words cannot describe the sound. I have two Play 5s paired and they have absolutely come alive, and then when I play it through the Arcam and Dynaudios and crank them up, they just sing like I’ve never heard! I usually listen to digital flac files that I rip myself from cds using EAC, or recently have bought and downloaded some flac albums through HD tracks etc. but the vinyl is just in incredibly awesome. I would urge anyone to have a listen before you start dissing vinyl. Some of the albums I bought - all second hand and most play like new: Nick Cave: My Trial (12” double album at 45rpm) WOW! We have 8 zones of wired ceiling/wall speakers (16 individual speakers) that are currently connected to a Niles SI -1230 amp. There are individual volume controls for each of the 8 zones (wall knobs in each room). We use this system for playing music. We do not use this for television - we have SONOS equipment for all TVs. We'd like to be able to power and control the existing wired ceiling/wall speakers with SONOS. What SONOS equipment would be required to do this?

This is great forum and I've been reading all day about what to get and think I'm starting to get closer, but still need help. Right now I own a single Sonos One. I use it in my kitchen (which blends into my living room and dining room) and it does a great job in filling the house with music. Now I want MORE! I already own a soundbar with sub for my TV (the VIZIO SB3821-C6 38-Inch 2.1 Channel Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer) in my living room. We use this solely for watching TV and it does a pretty decent job. I was thinking about getting the Beam and swapping it out with the VIZIO soundbar, simply for a new soundbar BUT ALSO to get even MORE music in the space (it would be more focused in the living room but could also blend with the Sonos One in the kitchen). My first question is: should I do this? Is the Beam going to be a major sound upgrade from my current sound bar? Is the Beam, playing music in a shared space with my kitchen Sonos One, going to sound even more imp

Curious if anyone has used a Play 5 to connect to RCA cables of a Vinyl Player. Can you then stream to your others SONOS speakers in the house? Is there an advantage or disadvantage to this as compared to connecting to the SONOS Connect?

Can I use a Sonos Subwoofer with wired speakers through my receiver, using a Sonos Connect?

1st Problem I ordered 2 Sonos One speakers on 11/22/2018 from the Sonos web site. The order process went without issues. I was sent an email that said what I was charged and that the product would be delivered and set up on 11/28/2018. I also got an email from my credit card company saying there was a charge from Sonos that was an amount 20.81 larger than what my Sonos invoice said. I still don't understand how and why Sonos can actually charge more than they quoted me in their invoice. 2nd Problem I received a 2nd email today reminding me of the following: "Just a reminder, your Sonos delivery is today. Your expert will call or text you prior to your delivery to confirm a precise time. If your expert can't reach you, then they cannot deliver your product." The on line status of the order has never changed from pending. I have no idea how my expert is going to call or text me because I was never asked for my phone number. Alright a little background. I am a college student living in a apartment with only a small space where I am able to set up an audio system. My goal is to connect my pro-ject essential III phono turntable to some sort of speaker system. I also stream music through Apple Music and one a variety of apple devices so I would like airplay 2. As of right now my two options are: 1) a pair of Sonos play 5s using a phono to aux to connect to the input of one of the play 5s. 2) The other option is a “traditional” system comprised of an amp and a pair of bookshelf speakers. The pair that I am looking at right now is the Definitive Technology demand 9 bookshelf speaker. I guess my question is really how good does the play 5 sound compared to traditional audio setups. I understand that some people find it counterintuitive to plug an analog turntable into a digital streaming speaker but I just don’t think I have the room right now for a turntable, amp/receiver and speakers. Starting to regamret buying my sonos play1 last week - it was sold to me as a Bluetooth speaker, the best their is apparently - but it continually disconnects as it's actually a wifi speaker and my router is in another room - I can't use it all, I can't use YouTube, I can't connect on Bluetooth - it's a terrible waste and I'll be taking it back tomorrow

I currently have in my Family Room, the following setup: Playbar, Sub, and 2 Play 1s (so surround sound). Here is my first question: If I have zero interest in using the built in speaker with the turntable and only want to use my existing Sonos speakers to play the music, my assumption is go with the Connect over the Connect Amp? Utter novice & help is greatly appreciated! Newly renovated house. Looking for best option for 3 zone multi room set up. 1 & 2 Large open plan kitchen 25m2 and dining area/sunroom 35m2 - each of which will have a pair of wired in-ceiling speakers (Polk RC80i) 3. Lounge 25m2 - wired for wall mounted speakers but none selected as yet. Also contains TV with Sky Q box cabled back to central location where all physical boxes will be (will be using magic eye for remote) Would like a Sonos amp that enables me to play music in the different zones (definitely need to split lounge from others, splitting zones 1&2 would be nice but not essential) and also to be able to play the TV through the lounge speakers without having to mess about too much. If this is complex then may invest in a sound bar - again recommendations welcomed. I am travelling to Italy in january and am looking to buy Sonos One to add to my collection. I cannot seem to find a store in the store locator anywhere in Italy. Surely this cant be right?

So i started out with one Play:5 in my kitchen area, it sounded amazing, deep bass etc.., so i went and bought another one for my bedroom, my bedroom is huge and it didnt sound to great there so i moved the 2nd one into my master bathroom, it sounds amazing, then i bought another for our entry way, so now i have three Play:5's, all sound great, these things are starting to get expensive so in some random areas of my house i purchased 3 of the Sonos One's. Now i have 6 of these speakers and i almost feel like the nice clean sound i had is getting watered down, is it possible too many of these can actually cancel eachother out? Maybe i need a Sonos Sub? But if i get that i have no idea where to put it, i already have a nice 3 piece setup for my TV which isnt Sonos... decisions decisions...

I'm possibly going to order a Play:5, but do I want the Gen 2 version? And when was the second Gen launched? (How can I tell whether the unit I get is Gen 1 or 2?

Hiii guys,,,, I am new to the Sonos system and buying speakers in general. I am much more of a music listener then I am movie/tv surround experience. So far I just have two Play:1s and don't want to start getting to far down the road without considering the road to take for building the best music listening setup. So those of you that are true audiophiles, in your opinions, what is the best Sonos setup for the ultimate music listening experience? Hello, I saw the Sonos system and was impressed with it. The question I have is... I have two home theatre receivers..One of them is upstairs hooked up to speakers that are in the living room and kitchen, while the other one is downstairs hooked up to a home theatre. I want to be able to play the same music on both systems at the same time. I can't connect them with any cables since they are in different parts of the house. What Sonos equipment do I need to buy? I just purchased a beam (has not arrived yet). I have a fairly small house with small rooms. Each floor is probably 800 - 800 square feet. I'd like to buy a used play 1 or 3 to save some $$ but is it worth it and what is the earliest gen that would be compatible with the beam. Also, would the 1 be adequate for my size of home or would a 3 or 5 be a better choice for richness of sound.

We use an Amazon Fire Stick to watch TV. If I want to stream from the TV using a Beam, do I need to use an Alexa-enabled Sonos speaker? We passed on getting an Amazon Echo out of privacy concerns with Alexa (don't want anything in the house that is listening to all our conversations). And is it different if we use a Roku instead of a Fire Stick?

Is there any mount out there to buy to mount the beam to the TV's VESA mount? And they aren't even responding to emails. And to clarify. I DO NOT want a mount (vesa) to mount both the TV and the beam. I know those exists. And I don't want them. Just want to mount the beam to the existing vesa mount. Easy as that. 🙂

Hello I am setting up a new connection in my den area and was looking to setup an atmos. I was wondering if your system allows that.

I am currently re-doing my master bathroom. I have in-ceiling/wall speakers throughout my house and now is my chance to add something into the bathroom. Has anyone put in-ceiling speakers for their Sonos inside a shower? Obviously it would have to be water/moisture proof. I was thinking about putting one speaker in the main area of the bathroom and one speaker inside the shower. But I’m open to any other feedback or suggestions. I’m trying to figure out the best move and the associated budget. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm planning a setup for my bedroom. I am either going for a 3.1 or a 5.1 setup. My main uses will be Netflix or audio through Bluetooth. I have a few basic questions based on what I'm planning to purchase - Sonos beam as my centre speaker.. Two 1s as my surround and the sub 1) do I need an amp or this will work by itself by plugging just the beam to the TV. 2) do I need any wiring? Also since my 1s will be placed on the walls in the background, do I need a power socket right there to avoid any wires been seen? 3) I'm planning to buy it in USA and get it to India where I live. Will it work on a 220v powerline without the use of any power convertor? Thanks in advance!

Buying a few speakers in the Sonos system. For a small room, where theres no room for 5.1 surround setup Would you set up Two 2 Sonos ONES, via Airplay 2 for sound from Apple TV (Netflix and Itunes rented movies mainly, DirecTV occasionally) on each side of an LG TV/Apple TV 4K, pointed at the listener? Grouping them in the app for TV sound, and use the speakers for general music when not watching TV in this room. Or, would you buy 1 Sonos BEAM for TV sound, and 1 Sonos ONE in the room dedicated to music. I kind of liked the sound of two Sonos Ones on my left and right but it might be a hassle to have to activate them via Apple TV each time? Thank you.
