What to get

What would be better? A Beam or a pair of Sonos ones? Looking for music in a double car garage. Mostly pop / hi-hop type music. THANKS

Hi everyone. I am permanently installing two Gen 1 Play 5's in my room. I want to mount them on the wall. The best wall bracket for my purpose is the Flexson tilt and swivel but they appear to be discontinued and out of stock everywhere, irrespective of what websites claim! 1 Does anyone know where I can get some of these in black? 2 Does anyone know of an alternative, probably generic, wall bracket that will work brilliantly? There is a bracket from Cavus but this only has swivel, not tilt. Tilt would be the more important feature in my installation. I hope someone else has battled with this and look forward to inspiration :-) Cheers Andy

I am slowly working on getting my House outfitted with Sonos Speakers. I currently the the Beam and that works fine for my Current Usage. I thinking about what to do for the Rear Surrounds. I now there are essentially 3 of the smaller speakers which I am thinking will be fine for my particular setup. I am just getting thoughts on if there would be any reason for me to get the Sonos:One (Gen1 or Gen2) over the Play:1. Since this will primarily be for surround sound usage and some music, whenever it gets to that point when I can get my family to actually use that aspect of them more commonly.

Hey. My setup today: Kitchen: two stereo paired Play 1 Living room: Beam Daugthers room: Play 1 My question is. We often listen at low volumes, but I really need more bass in the living room. But I think the Sub is expensive “just” to get more bass. Is the SUB worth it, when we for the most of the time only listen to low volumed music and television. Do you got the Beam and SUB, and what is your opinion about the sound at low volume, or is it first when you crank it up, that you feel the bass. Can you even feel the bass in your body?

Hi, I want to improve my tv sound and living room stereo. I have a pair of Bose 201 bookshelf speakers and I’m considering either buying the Sonos amp for the Bose speakers with a Sonos sub or simply a Sonos playbar with a sonos sub. Sound quality is the main goal. What would you recommend?

Hi Guys. I have a 30' x 30' deck plus double that in garden and have been moving a pair or play 3's outside when needed but now need something better. I debated a bean under the eve but it wouldnt last I think and the mrs doesnt want white or large speakers on the wall ruling out the new Sonance ones ... what would you recommend? a) keep using the 3's b) old or new Amp + standard speakers BOSE 251 Yamaha AW592 Dayton Audio IO655 Monitor Audio Climate 50 c) old or new Amp + smaller speakers Polk Satellite 30's TIC GS5 d) old or new Amp + flowerbed speakers Niles GS4 (as much cheaper than bose ones)

I have an approx 32x16 covered porch that I would like to use sonos on--want to attach to wall so they don't "walk" off to other places 🙂 They would be pretty well protected but there is the occasional blowing rain. Any one else have this? And what setup would you recommend? Thanks!

Hi, I have a SONOS Playbar and pair of Play 1's synced up for my TV setup and have mulling over adding a SUB for a while now. I do enjoy a full cinema sound experience so am keen to know if people think it's worth it as I find it extremely hard to justify the price tag of the SONOS Sub. Is there a a cheaper alternative way of getting a subwoofer addon to my Sonos setup? For example, could I get another brand sub and then connect it up via a Connect perhaps to work in sync? Just looking at all my options really.

Hey all, So I am looking into upgrading my sound. Right now I just have a single Sonos One. However, I do have Logitech z313 speakers that I would love to integrate. And I have Vizio Smart Tv that would love to intergate as well. However, I am a little confused about Sonos Amp and Connect:Amp. I am not sure which one would be better for this set up and the differences I need to know. Also, will my Sonos One voice command have any issues with this set up?

I have a large room (garage) with six in-ceiling speakers already installed. They are all wired to a common location in my house. My plan was to power these speakers with the new Sonos Amp. Since there are six speakers and the Amp only powers up to four, I'm wondering what is the best way to go about this? Should I get two Amps? If I do, should I put four speakers on one and two speakers on the other? If I have four speakers off of one Amp and two off of another, will I notice any volume differences or syncing issues between the sound coming from the different groups of speakers? Ultimately, I want to play through all six speakers in this room via the Sonos app and volume control. What is recommended for my setup? Thanks for any advice offered!

I'm thinking about the Sonos sound bar and wondering if the sub is necessary. I am using the bar to enhance my Tv/TiVo/Apple TV.

Thank you everyone for your input so far. Here are a few options I was thinking about. Currently I only use Sync Cloud Storage to backup my files. Theoretically, I could rip all of my music and put it there but do need a stand-a-lone NAS? I have already had two standard hard drives fail in the past so if I back up any music I want to use SSD's. Here are a few ideas that I had. Please, I need you experts to tell me what you think: 1) Get a Brennan B2. It's a CD player and a ripper that stores up to 2 TB of music. Storage is not SSD but it seems very convenient. I would also be able to continue to play obscure CD's that are not offered for streaming without having to rip them first. It also has a built-in amplifier and the sound quality should be better than using a non-audio NAS device. Check it out here: https://www.brennan.co.uk 2) Get a QNAP TS-453BT3. It has two thunderbolt ports so read/write times should be very fast for ripping CD's and I can get up to 2 TB's of SSD storage

Hey guys, I currently have a Connect:Amp wired up to two pairs of Polk Atrium 4 Outdoor speakers. I have the speakers mounted in the four corners of my deck. Everything works well, but it doesn't have enough poke for a real party. I can't turn the volume right up because when a decent base note comes along the amp will cut out - presumably to protect itself. So, I'm faced with a dilemma - do I sell my existing Connect:Amp and pony up for the new Amp which has more than double the power - or do I buy a second Connect:Amp and have each Connect:Amp drive two speakers? Hello all, I've been looking to upgrade my home sound system as I currently have a cheap 2.1 soundbar/sub from Monoprice that I got for ~$40. After doing more research, I'm considering going for a 5.0 (5.1?) setup, with a Playbase + 2 x rear speakers, of which I'm gravitating towards the Play 1s. That said, I had a few questions I was hoping to get opinions on. For context, I primarily use my TV for gaming, but it would be nice to be able to play music/podcasts in my dining/kitchen area (it's an open floor plan style great room) too. I had a few concerns I was hoping to get opinions on Below is a poorly drawn diagram of my living room/dining room/kitchen layout. I should also mention that, since its an A-Frame style house, I have very high ceilings, 20-25 ft . My concerns: 1.) Would the Playbase + 2 x rear speakers be enough, given the space of the room? Again, I also have very high ceilings, 20-25 feet high. Right now buying the sub would be out of my price range

Im currently running a software squeezebox on rPi hooked to a Audiolab MDAC into a Bryston 3bst. ive ripped about 1000cds to alac but more and more i find i use Apple Music which squeeze doesnt support save via airplay which can be spotty and no shared queue for my wife to add things. Afaik AM is only supported by Sonos. im intrigued by the new Amp for the increase in power and airplay 2 funtionality plus just getting me into the Sonos system. ill only ever use it in 2 channel mode. That said i wonder if i could just buy the connect and run it into my existing dac via optical or coax? im not sure if the amp would be an upgrade compared to the bryston or how the preamp/dac works in it vs the mdac.

Hi all, I'm pretty new to Sonos (borrowed and returned a pair of Play 1's) and I've been thinking about getting a Beam which will eventually become part of a surround sound set up with a Macbook/PC, an amp/hub out to a couple of Play 1's and a projector. In the meantime I want to play tunes from Spotify using e.g. the Sonos app and audio from movies (e.g. on Youtube from an iPhone, or iTunes using a Macbook Pro) using Airplay 2. Does anyone know if you can use Airplay 2 to play the audio from videos without there being a Smart TV or Apple TV or similar in the mix etc? E.g.; 1. Can I watch a video on youtube via Safari on my phone and hear the sound from the Beam? 2. Can I watch a movie or TV via iTunes, iDVD, Safari, or VLC etc on a Macbook and get the audio out of the beam (ideally in stereo) in sync with the images? Essentially, can you use Airplay 2 to treat the Beam as a Bluetooth speaker? Apologies if this has been asked before, I've not been able to find a c

If i get 2 x Sonos Play:5 speakers and only want to stream music from a phone or a computer, do I need any additional equipment like an amp?

Ok so I have 6 Play ONE's in a restaurant that work great here's my problem I don’t have a secure network so anyone can get on and mess with the music and volume its happened! I have looked into the router and since we have Comcast business it will cost extra to make a guest network. I am in the process of remodeling my house and have the ceilings open. My objective is to add two speakers in my kitchen ceiling and two speakers in my living room ceiling. For the kitchen, there will be a TV mounted over the fireplace. I'd like the ceiling speakers to have the ability to play sound from the TV or from Sonos (Connect:Amp?). For the living room, I already have a Beam and want the two ceiling speakers to be able to play sound from the TV or from Sonos and to also integrate with my Beam to either play TV audio or music from Sonos. I'd like each zone to be independent from one another so the sound in the kitchen doesn't necessarily need to match the sound in the living room. Can you make a recommendation for equipment based on my requirements? Note: I have not purchased the ceiling speakers or Connect:Amp yet, just the Beam in the living room.

I have my system working again now (Playbase + 2 Play:1's as surround in the lounge with the PB hardwired to a 2nd router used as an AP which is hard wired to my main router), another PB + Play:1's in the dining room and a Play3 & Play5 Gen2 upstairs. Would there still be a benefit in getting a Boost and having this hard wired to either of the routers? The main one is in the hallway near the front door and the 2nd is in the lounge close to the tv. Hi, I’m new to Sonos and I’m looking to replace my existing TV/surround and Music systems that currently sit at opposite ends of a long lounge. I have found a few threads that give partial answers to my questions so apologies for any repetition here! I want to be able to keep my CD and Turntable set up but reduce the footprint (and wires!) that accompany my existing kit (see below for list of all components). My overall questions is this: Would a Sonos amp, beam, sub and a pair of ones effectively solve my problem? I have a couple of decent Q-Acoustic book shelf speakers. Am I right in thinking the set up above IN ADDITION to these speakers would provide surround sound ? E.g. Would the beam provide the centre channel audio and the Q-Acoustics the front left and right channels? Please help! The Problem: I am trying to add a new share to my iPad Sonos application, but cannot get it to link to my raspberry pi to play music. I have loaded SMB via My OSMC and can play music from the Pi on my PC via my wired network. Also, I have FileBrowser on my iPad and can play music from the raspberry on this too. I have enabled UPnP on the Pi and my Sonos speakers are recognised in the Add Music browser The Pi is called 'mediacenter', the HDD My Book and the file 'Music'. I thought the path should be: \\mediacenter\My Book\Music, but this and every conceivable combination doesn't work, (with or without a space between My Book). I have tried using passwords, osmc/osmc & pi/raspberry and also using the Pi's IP Address. I have tried every conceivable combination - what am I doing wrong!! Hi, I'd like to ask some opinions about my Living Room / Kitchen setup. I know a couple of people have asked similar questions, so apologies for the redundancy! I've attached a sketchup of our open plan combined Kitchen / living. It's quite a large space at 6m wide by about 13m long. At the bottom of the drawing the RHS leads to an open hallway. At the top the glass doors open onto a back deck. Unfortunately there's a lot of hard and reflective surfaces, particularly around the kitchen (shiny doors, marble bench, floordboards etc). The living room is a little better as it has a couch and rug, but there's still a lot of glass and bare floorboards. Ideally what I'd like to get out of the space is to feel the nice warm sound that I fell in love with when I bought a Play:1 and put it in my small bedroom. I actually love the treble and the highs in music the most, but it's not the same without the depth and warmth of the bass. In terms of music I'll listen to almost anything rangi

I'm interested in converting my existing system. I'm looking to have a 5.1 system in the family room, with the ability to add speakers in other rooms and outside (the patio is covered). To be honest, I'm a bit overwhelmed at all the different combinations and what I really need. I currently have a Yamaha receiver which my cable, apple TV and Blu Ray player are connected to providing one input source to the TV. The receiver has multi zone capability and I would like to retain that option going forward. I would appreciate any help or guidance that could be provided.
