What to get

Hi All, My living room TV currently has a cheap Visio Soundbar, I also have my Alexa and Turntable setup to Audioengine A5s. I want to upgrade to the Sonos Arc and Sonos Sub, however I’m not sure what to do with my turntable, I kind of want to get rid of the A5s because I think the Arc + Sonos Sub will sound much better than just the 2 Audioengine A5s for room listening (especially since I have no sub with the A5s). What are your opinions as to how to go about this? Should I keep the A5s and join them with a Port? Or get rid of the A5s and get a Five for Line In? Or is the best solution getting an AMP and using the A5s as surround? Will this properly crossover the Sonos Sub and Soundbar?

Hey. Hope you’re all well. I bought a Sonos Play Five a month ago and I’m loving the quality of it - however I was a little annoyed when the newly rebranded Sonos Five was announced so soon after buying the Play 5. Apart from more storage and the new radio feature in the newer model, will there be any noticeable differences to the sound between the old and new and would it be beneficial to buy the newer model? Thanks 

Hello all,  I see there is a discount for nurses and first responders. Is there also a discount for resident physicians? I’m a resident at Texas Children’s hospital. Some of the nurses were talking about how much they love their sonos speaker. I thought it would be nice to put a few in my office and patient rooms to play some calming music on stressful nights. 

Will be getting ARC next month. Should I upgrade Play:1 to One or SL as surrounds? Since ARC has GA built in do I need surrounds to have GA capability too?

Will I be able to experience the full Dolby Atmos sound with my 65” LG SK8000 PUA TV with the Arc soundbar?

I have 5 Sonos speakers and loved waking up to my local radio station and being able to listen in every room.  My local station recently stopped streaming on all of the radio apps.  I want to purchase a stereo receiver that will connect to my Sonos system.  What receiver will work and what other equipment is needed?   I will be looking to sell my Sonos if I can’t find a solution.   I believe Yamaha has a system that works with receivers.   Thank you in advance. 

Just received the email about the Dolby Atmos supported Sonos Arc. Jumping out of my skin with excitement but what do I do with my current Playbar? Will there be a trade offer available for loyal customers?  

Is it right to assume that the RCA inputs of a Connect/Amp/Port will provide a better Vinyl experience than the Line-In of a Play:5? Thinking about for multi-room L-R speaker separation… Thanks!

Sonos tells me that my Connect 90 will no longer be supported in May.  What Sonos products would be a good replacement  for these?  I have two of them connected to free standing receivers in remote areas of my home. Thanks

I replaced my Sonos Connect with a Sonos Port. I used an optical cable to bypass the Sonos DAC (in the Connect) to take the signal to a dedicated Arcam DAC. This option is no longer available with the port, which just has a digital out connection. My question is, can I use an RCA cable instead of a digital coaxial cable (which has an RCA connector anyway).Even if it works, can I be certain that this will not damage either my port or Arcam DAC?

If I pre order the Arc, will it be charged to my credit card immediately or when it actually ships?

Hi there,  I’ve just got rid of my archaic surround sound system and, after research, want to buy the Sonos Beam. However I’ve heard that Sonos may introduce a Dolby Atmos version next month and I’ll kick myself if I’ve bought one in May to find a Dolby Atmos version available in June! Is it likely that this will be the Playbar not the beam? And any idea on cost? The Beam is probably about as much as I’m happy to spend.    Thank you!

Can someone please clarify the 2015 cutoff month for the Connect to be considered a Modern Product?This really shouldn’t be this hard, but Sonos fumbles around on this question. For example, I want to add a November 2015 Connect to an S2 system. From what I can tell l *should* be okay if I buy this unit. But that’s not 100% clear. Does Sonos not know??  

Hi everyone I have a TEAC TN-280BT record player and a Sonos Beam. I have tried a Bose Bluetooth speaker on it via Bluetooth but volume does not go very high in sound? I was thinking of getting a sonos move and pairing it via Bluetooth but I’m a bit worried it will be the same as the Bose  or get a play 5 and use audio output lead to connect to record player? Anybody know if I will get better sound and volume this way. Also I’m hoping to be able to pair the new speaker with the Sonos Beam. Thanks in advance for any help. Andy  

I'm working on an outdoor projector/speaker setup.  I currently have the following: A projector which has an HDMI input, but no high quality audio output.  A Sonos Amp wired to outdoor speakers. An iPad that has a lightning to HDMI output connector.   I’m trying to figure out if I can use an HDMI splitter to send the video signal via one HDMI cable to the projector and the audio signal via another HDMI cable to the Sonos Amp HDMI Arc input. Will the HDMI Arc input accept sound via an HDMI cable in this manner?  Or do I have to get an HDMI splitter with optical output and then connect an optical cable to the Sonos Optical Audio Adapter which then plugs into the Sonos Amp HDMI Arc input?  Would appreciate any suggestions.  Thanks!

My TV currently has a Playbar connected via Optical Cable and the sound has been wonderful. However, we have two rear speakers that we have not been utilizing and now it’s time for a slight upgrade. I’m looking to add a Sonos AMP (new version) to the mix.    Question for the community: Will Sonos AMP be connected wirelessly to Playbar? Or do I need to physically connect it to HDMI ARC from the TV as well?

Hi there, I may be way off base here, so apologies in advance, but I couldn’t find a clear answer anywhere. I have an older Play:3 (and some other stuff, but the rest doesn’t really matter for now) that does not work with Airplay 2. I also have a record player. As such, I was considering getting a Port to connect my record player to my audio system., but have a few assumptions/questions:   I understand that the Port supports Airplay 2. I understand the Port will connect my record player to my existing system. I assume the Port will work with the Play:3, and therefore my record player will work with the Play:3. If my understandings and assumption above are correct, then will I be able to use Airplay 2 from my iPhone (let’s assume in Spotify), play via Port, and then choose the Play:3 to play music through, effectively giving the Play:3 Airplay 2 support? Again, apologies if I’m missing something. I hope I’m right, but reckon I’m probably wrong here :)

I have a pair of One SLs wall mounted in a smallish sIzed bedroom configured in stereo for use with Apple Music and Airplaying from phones.  They sound great but I feel like a Sub might help give a fuller sound.  Would the Sub be overkill?  Can the sub be configured to work with the two SLs in a 2.1 setup?  Cheers.

Hi everyone,  Quick question. I have a Play 5 Gen 2 that I was looking to stereo pair with another Play 5.  When I looked online, I can see now there is a Play 5 Gen 3, that looks very similar to the one I have.  Digging a little deeper I saw you can’t pair a Gen 1 with a Gen 2, but I can’t find anything on pairing the Gen 2 and a Gen 3 play 5.   Are they considered more or less the same as they look identical? Or should I just opt for the cheaper Gen 2 Play 5? Any help would be most appreciated!

Hi, I have an old soon to be depreciated Bridge and want to replace it but I’m not sure of the best option. Getting a Boost would obviously be the easiest direct replacement but as I would quite like an additional speaker, I was wondering about using an IKEA Symfonisk to create the mesh network as an alternative. What would be the reliability and performance be like compared to just getting a Boost?

Hello,   Is there any word on when there will be a successor to the Playbar / Playbase (ie a Playbar 2.0)?    I’ve recently begun enjoying a Beam and was doing a lot of comparison shopping before hand. It seems the Playbar is woefully out of date in terms of technology (No HDMI port? No Apple Airplay compatibility? It’s 2020 now...)  I understand by all accounts that the Playbar sounds nice. But all Sonos products sound nice! I’d love to have something a bit more substantial for my home theatre setup than the Beam, but I’m really struggling to see the cost justification. So does anyone know of any new generation or new product line coming down the pipe?   Thanks   James

Hi   i have three old connect amps - one connected to in-ceiling speakers in the kitchen, one connected to in-ceiling speakers in the dining room and the third connected to outdoor speakers on my back deck.    I am thinking that the best solution for the indoor zones is just to replace the connect amps and speakers with a couple of Ones or OneSLs. It doesn’t seem to me that I would be missing anything that I currently have, except that I would need to keep the speakers somewhere they could be plugged into power outlets.  Does this sound correct?   my bigger question is with the outdoor speakers. Ideally I would like to keep the speakers I have. I am not sure if I need the port or the Amp to do this.  Can anyone advise?   thanks

I’d like to add to my system and torn between the price difference.  the living room is 15’x30’ (typical), we have the TV and Playbar in the corner.  I’d like to add two more speakers.  If I can get away with purchasing a One and One SL - I want to do that.  However, the ceiling speakers look really clean, but at that price - is the quality really so much better or is the higher price just covering the style of being in the ceiling - I’m assuming the higher price with the amp produces a way more awesome sound. Can someone provide thoughts on the difference in sound between the two when added to a Playbar? How about Ceiling speakers compared to One/One SL/Sub - what group is a better sound?
