Voice control and smart home

Hi. My Sonos 1 and 5 are connected on the Google Home device list and Sonos is a linked service. Recently I cannot use Google voice commands to start any services on my Sonos devices - it just defaults to playing on the Google device I asked to perform the action. If I go into the Sonos app and play something I can then pause/volume change etc via the Google Home app no problem. Is this a Google or Sonos issue? (I’ve rebooted all my devices/router etc. unlinked/linked everything but the problem still persists)

With my Sonos One, I can call out for Sonos or Alexa. When I ask either of them to play a song, they say  okay, but nothing happens. If I ask for FOX News they say okay, but nothing happens. What’s wrong with it? Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct.

Hi, I use a Connect to stream a playlist from my Plex Media Server to a legacy speaker system (B&O 6000’s and a set of ceiling running off an Ashley amp) and also a Sonos Arc.I actually have two questions:Is there a way to normalize the volume of the playlist in the Connect? Most tracks are fine, but occasionally they’ll be quiet tracks. I’d can use a hardware compressor between the Connect and DAC, but then the normalized audio would not reach the Arc. I wish there was a normalize setting on the Sonos app like there is on PlexAmp.  Is anyone else having trouble with Alexa routine? I’m just trying to pause playback at night and restart it in the morning, but I’m seeming to get anywhere. Alexa does not seem to find the Connect at all, and the Arc is set, but it just doesn't work. Many thanks in advance 

I have no interest in streaming services at all.  ALL I want to do is use my voice to get my sonos to shuffle play all the music on my NAS.That’s it.  Simple.  or it should be.I created a play list of all my music.I say ‘Sonos play [x] paylist’It bitches about not having a service connected?WTF?

Alexa has been working fine on my Sonos Era 100 but it suddenly stopped responding to voice command “Alexa”. I tried Sonos Voice and it’s working, confirming that mic is not the issue. I tried all the troubleshooting steps defined here:https://support.sonos.com/en/article/alexa-commands-not-working-on-sonos Alexa Voice assistant can be successfully added through the Sonos Android app. However, when saying “Alexa”, the Sonos Era 100 does not respond. Trying a full command “Alex what time is it” also doesn’t work. Any other solutions that I should try?

You have closed the topic on “energetic Alexa”, but the issue persists. I am up to date on all devices as well as iOS Mac OS software and the fact that Alexa response volume cannot be adjusted separately is something to be addressed. I had to switch off Alexa support on Sonos and went back to echoes. While watching a movie using airplay for example requires a rather high volume level on speakers when used with LG tv unit that is not connected to the ARC sb. Sometimes volume has to be set around 50, and when Alexa responses it’s blasted ok after turning off the light o asked it to at full volume is a serious issue when using devices at night. I am mostly up at night cause I live in Warsaw but work with teams in the US remotely while coordinating Lab work locally in Poland and I am mostly up till 6 am and sleep half of the actual day.  Please, consider adding a feature to separate notification / response volume from the streaming audio volume or at least fix the Alexa volume level being

I have a very odd situation that recently developed.  When I make a request via Alexia on Sonos to a Spotify play list, it will sometimes connect and sometimes it will not (i.e., nothing happens). If I ask for my previous playlist, it will consistently connect, and then I can then connect to a new playlist request upon a second Alexa request.Any suggestions?

Alexa voice assistant on Sonos One is far lower than media content. Raising volume for Alexa (e.g. instructing Alexa to play at louder volume via voice command) makes the media play too loudly. Please add volume control for Alexa.

Why does TunIn and even the New Tunin not work for local stations when you use Sonos Voice.I have tried everything for voice commands and it still won’t play local stations. Even tried the radio station frequency. 

I'm experiencing difficulties with the Arc Ultra and Alexa built-in volume/sound/audio vs TV/music volume control.There's a mismatch in the audio between Alexa and TV or music. Specifically, the Alexa speaking volume is almost inaudible. If I turn up the volume I can hear it fine. When I switch to TV/music the volume is way too loud forcing immediate action to turn it off or turn down the volume. I've had the Ulta Arc for about a week. Alexa is not usable if I have to turn up/down the volume for Alexa then the TV.Are there separate volume controls for Alexa vs TV/music? If there are separate audio controls I've not been able to find anything in the app or instructions. Are there any other options such as equalizing Alexa audio to match the TV/music? 

I’m not able to get Google nest to play anything on my pair of Sonos play 1 speakers.when I try and add Google assistant in the Sonos app it doesn’t work it just pops up help info instructions on how to set it up which I’ve already done. I’m using the Sonos app on my iPad. I have installed google home and Google assistant and the Sonos app. I try setting the default speakers to the Sonos speakers in Google home for the nest device. When I ask the nest to play music it says okay and that it’s playing on the selected speakers but the speakers never play anything. I can control the speakers fine using the Sonos app by itself.Any ideas on why this doesn’t work at all? I’ve seen other people posting that it works and I’ve watched YouTube videos on how to set it up and it working for them.

What are sonos doing for it's countless customers who can't get voice as the amazon sign in cycles endlessly??? This has gone on for months

Now that Amazon is discontinuing its privacy setting (as of March 28, 2025) and will be sending all commands to its cloud servers, are there any plans to bring Apple HomeKit / Siri to voice enabled speakers?  I have multiple echo devices that I’ll be unplugging before this goes live. But I also have two voice enabled Sonos speakers (Arc Ultra & Era 100). I don’t want to migrate to Google, because they’re likely to follow Amazon’s lead on the privacy front. I enjoy the convenience of controlling lights & music by voice, but not having everything sent to Amazon servers.  

I’d like the ability to create and manage alarms via Sonos Voice Control.I know it can currently do timers, but I’d like to be able to create an alarm that goes off daily at a given time.

I would like to open up a survey about an issue I am experiencing.I have a sonos Arc in one room with alexa and sonos voice control (SonosVC) enabled (sonos with microphone). I have an echo dot in another room paired with a sonos playbar (sonos without microphone). I have a subscription to apple music. so after my third time doing this I thought I would ask…. Every time I add my sonos arc to my sonos system and then add the google assistant, it goes offline a short while later - and there is no fix other than to factory reset.  I realize that sonos are no longer supporting google on new devices as they can’t seem to play nice together, however this did work fine until I moved to my new house.  In the old house we were in due to displacement by wildfire, I only had the arc.   Google worked fine on it.  So we rebuilt after the fire and moved in 3 weeks ago and I got a bunch of new sonos stuff to fill the new house - but now, as I said, I add the arc to my system, its fine everything works.  Then I add google assistant and it goes offline - it works for a little while, not sure how long, but in the morning I come down and it's offline.  Not only offline, there is no fix for it other than to factory reset.  I added it again yesterday, didn’t add google assistant and this morning it is st

For some months now I’m experiencing an issue when asking Google Assistant to set the volume of our speakers/rooms to a desired volume. This does not work properly when asking to set the volume to either level 3, 5 or 10. This day in 2025, Friday March 8th, the Sonos S19 Soundbar started playing all by itself.  I wasn’t there to hear it but my wife was.  My only choice was troubleshoot it (again) or remove it.  It is a shame such an nice sound bar had to go.It starts by itself about once every 6 months. It usually responds to voice command by this time she could not turn it off by command and it eventually stopped by itself.  We have it connected to a newer Sony 85" Bravia Core Television.  We have an Alexa smart speaker nearby, also have DirecTV so there is a set top box (STB) connected.  By the time I got to it I just unplugged it and removed it entirely. Problem solved.The only thing reasonable thing that I can imagine is that she likes to cover it with nick nacks, so even though the touch controls have been disabled (using the Sonos application with a Pixel 8a smartphone) there maybe some weird extraneous inputs on its frame somewhere that aren’t disabled.  Or maybe Alex conspires to network into it

We have had Sonos speakers set up in multiple rooms for a few years, and we use Alexa to control them. However, I am planning to cancel my Prime membership. Will I still be able to use Alexa? Or is there an alternative voice command capability that I can use?

Ok, before you start typing "it is a local problem".... my answer is "I know!" So I recently bought an S24Ultra and have been using the Sonos app on it. The application does most of the things.But what I have been struggling with since day 1 is that when I try to add GoogleAssistant to my speakers, the application will try to launch the GoogleAssistant application and stay without launching it.I thought that maybe it had to do with the fact that I am using Gemini, so I switched the phone back to Google Assistant. But no use.I checked and made sure that all the rights are set correctly for the sonos App.At this point I have to grab my old Samsung S3 each time that I want to add the GoogleAssistant to a sonos speaker. Anyone else experiences this?Any solutions?

Good morning, I am testing my alexa integration and I have an issue: multi room soundsMy setup:Living room: sonos arc with “built in alexa”. My son’s bedroom with a echo dot 5th gen and an old sonos playbar as a speakerBoth set-ups work pretty good with their alexa (either integrated or via echo dot) but one command:Sonos arc/playbar alexa commands:play music in the living room: works play music in son’s room: works play music everywhere: doesn’t work Sonos app shows both speaker are playing correctly Playbar won’t play any sound If I give the command from Snos arc with “Sonos AI”:play music everywhere (via sonos “AI”): worksSince the alexa command works de facto (sonos app showing both playing) I suspect it has something to do with some sonos app bags.Anybody would have an idea on how to solve this ? Thanks a lot.

Sonos voice control should be compatible with Govee. It would make it way easier to be able to control my Govee lights with my Sonos. Or at least Sonos should have add google assistant back. 

Hello,A few days ago, I noticed that my Sonos speakers were "unresponsive" in the Home app when I was away from home.After trying several things (rebooting, removing and re-adding the speaker in HomeKit) without success, I reset all the speakers to factory settings. It took some time, but it worked.But this morning, I updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS 18.2.1, and the problem came back! My Sonos speakers are once again unresponsive in the Home app. Please note that I am not at home, so I can't check if it works when I'm on the same network. In any case, do you know a way to fix the issue without resetting the speakers again?Thanks for help.
