Voice control and smart home

My Beam is acting glitchy again. Voice command to ask Spotify to play was working the other day now it isn't. It says "I can't do that here but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices." However, if I use Spotify Connect, it works. All other voice commands work.

I have two Sonos systems, in different locations, each with an Echo Dot on the same WIFI. I have one Amazon account to access Alexa. How can I setup Alexa to work with both systems? Setting up one system goes as expected, and I choose which of the two systems I want to connect. The choice of system is a radio button, and I cannot choose both systems. When I try to setup the second system, Alexa cannot find any Sonos speakers, using the add devices feature of the Alexa app. If I disable the Sonos Alexa skill and reenable it, I am able to connect to the second Sonos system (again, by choosing it), but now cannot connect to the first. Is it possible to use Alexa with two different Sonos system?

almost 50% of the stations that i ask google assistant to play on the sonos won't play and i will get this error. google assistant says: sorry it looks like the requested content isn't currently available on tunein. This is not true. these stations work when i use the sonos app to play. furthermore, these stations work when my friends use google home to play the same stations i want to play. so basically, when i ask google assistant to play these stations for me i get that error but if i use the sonos app it will play the stations.

My wife and I used to own the Polk Command Bar w/ Alexa, which could voice-control volume from 0-100, which was very precise and flexible. Unfortunately, my Sonos Beam w/ Alexa only supports 1-10, which is clumsy and feels very 1990, honestly. The first time we used the Sonos Beam my wife said, "Alexa, set volume 10..." and I thought we blew out speakers. (And it scared our dog half to death!) Please match the competition and use the industry standard 0-100 (or 0% to 100%). I love my Sonos Beam and Sonos One speakers, but this is driving my wife and I nuts -- this is a really poor user experience! Thank you for your consideration.

Hello! Happy Memorial Day Weekend!! I’m trying to set up my beam with my amazon fire stick to control volume when I watch tv (Samsung)? My beam is connected via the optical adapter. I want to be able to control the volume coming out of the beam from my fire stick remote/alexa. I can’t quite seem to find the correct video or article. I have connected my beam to alexa and can play Spotify, but not what I mentioned above. Please help.

Can one change "ALEXA Name" to "Computer" I'm able to change in echo dot but will not allow me on Sonos One Should of said wake word to computer Thx Michel

Ok, Sonos MOD EDIT: PROFANITY. I'm from Ukraine and I bought two Sonos One and planning to buy Beam in the future. I bought it even though Alexa do not work with Russian language at all as I heared that there will be Google Assistant which is working perfectly on my Android device. And now I MOD EDIT: PROFANITY can not activate it, as it says that's it's not available in my country. Again it's working perfectly on my Android device. I can assure you it understands Russian perfectly, moreover almost everyone person from post USSR country understands Russian and can talk on it. So what the MOD EDIT: PROFANITY problem to activate it as it was done by Google themselves? I bought two Ones, a Sub and was planning to buy Beam. Not planning now for sure. I see sonos is not in google home control. But when I try to add it, it prompts me to log into my sonos account and it successfully logs in. But but at the end it fails to link with sonos. All devices on lates firmware update. And all controllers are updated.

Hi all, I'm having great difficulty with the alexa app. not finding it at all user friendly. I have a sonos one which is connected to my system in my lounge and working ok. I have a play one in my bedroom that I wish to connect an echo dot to. The dot is already signed into my Amazon account. I cannot find how to connect it to my play one as all help I have seen says to enable sonos skill and follow instructions. Sonos skill is already enable when I set up sonos one. How do I pair an echo dot with a play one. grateful for any help thank you

I've seen the topic of 'casting', specifically in terms of how the Google/Sonos integration works, discussed in various topics recently. I thought it might be useful and fun (for me at least) to have a separate topic. First, I'd define casting very broadly. I'll say that casting is the process of interacting with one electronic device (A) for the purpose of causing a second device B to playback audio or video without wires. This definitely is broader than one you'd typically think of as casting, but I think it's worth defining it this way to better understand the interactions. Alexa services were working just fine yesterday. Now today I get a "uh oh". Unplug Sonos and then get no response. Very frustrated with this device and, I'm thinking to find my closest Sonos store and just donate it (I live overseas) Seriously, for a $200 speaker that doesn't work at all unless you use the app, then why integrate the amazon puck on top. Dear Sonos mods, A similar question as I am about to ask was marked with ‘best answer’ without that actually giving answer to the question. Therefore, could you please answer the following with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’: I own various Sonos Ones and Beam, and I have a premium Spotify Family subscription. When I ask GA on the first Sonos One to play music and thereafter ask the second Sonos One or Beam to play other music, the music stops on the first Sonos One. Now the obvious question: IS IT POSSIBLE TO START PLAYING DIFFERENT MUSIC ON SECOND DEVICE WITHOUT INTERRUPTING PLAY ON FIRST DEVICE USING GA? If ‘yes’ - expected and great, but HOW?? Ive just tried to change radio stations using assistant and now suddenly my speaker isn't available anymore eventhough it was just playing. This is just a recent example but there just seems to be endless issues and incomplete functionality with assistant. Nobody from Sonos is explaining what's happening or why we had to wait so long for something so bad.

Alexa works great on my Sonos One but was wondering will it connect to Ring Doorbell 2 and per the amazon echo etc and allow voice control. Anybody had issues or any tips would be great before I purchase it.

I have a playbar, three play 3's, a sub, and a play 5. I previously had alexa and sonos working well together until my play 5 failed (stopped communicating wirelessly). Sonos replaced the defective play 5, and when I added it to my system Alexa would not discover the new device (the rest worked fine). After I followed instructions from several different threads trying to check all of the basic things (no duplicate names, all user profile info is filled out accurately, etc) the next step was to disable and re-enable the sonos skill which is where I've hit a wall. Now Alexa and my sonos system no longer integrate. Sonos is otherwise fully functional and works fine with my other music services and TV. The sonos skill will not enable and tells me "You need to link speakers to myaddress@email.com before you can add this skill". Of course my speakers are already linked to the account because it's fully functional, but I still logged into my sonos account and confirmed the emai

I have a google home mini and the Sonos beam in the same room, and they are linked in the Google Assistant app. However, when I ask a question such as “Hey Google, what time is it?”, both the Home Mini and the Beam answer (not in sync with each other, so they talk over each other). Is there any way to get just one or the other to answer, but not both?

Hi, As described in my title using my Beam Alexa will turn my TV on but if I ask her to turn the TV off she says 'OK' but the TV stays on. Commands I'm using are: "Alexa, turn the TV on" - this works "Alexa, turn the TV off" - does not work "Alexa, turn the living room TV off" - does not work The attached image shows how the TV is connected in my Alexa app. My TV is a Samsung UE50NU7400 Thanks for any help.

Hello I have 2 sonos beams and a sonos one, all 3 are doung exact same thing. None are shuffling music, when i ask to shuffle songs it plays the same song to start with and doesnt shuffle. Also when i say next it dors nothing, when the song finishes nothing else plays afterwords. I activate shuffle mode by command and it acknowledges this but still nothing. I dont know what to do next. This is a bit complicated: I have tried several times to link my Sonos One speaker pair to Google Assistant. I’ve tried in a couple of different ways: From the SONOS App, and when that failed from my google home app. In both cases I eventually ran into a notification screen stating I need to register my speakers. As far as I remember my speakers are registered, and the app and speakers are working fine. I followed the directions that popped up, stating to go to account settings to register speakers, and that if I cannot I need to perform an update. I went to account settings and did not find a way to register my speakers, so I attempted an update but the app is already up to date.

Hi. I currently have a generation one play5 and play1. They are in different rooms but are grouped. I am looking to replace the play1 with an Amazon Alexa enabled generation 2 play 1. Will I still be able to group the two so they play as a pair? Don’t want to buy it and then find out that they cannot work together.

So I have a playbar with a sub and a 1st gen Play 5. I successfully linked my sonos account with my Google home account. The Sonos speakers show up as devices, but when i try to give a google home command based on the name it says in my sonos, Google home doesn't know the device. Using Alexa before had no issues with these devices. Can someone explain what the issue is.

I have been using a number of amazon echos for the past few years. Currently I'm planning a major renovation and want to integrate sonos into the new home setup. I plan to have ceiling speakers in kitchen/diner and living room with a beam and a playbase in another room. My questions are around the integration with Alexa. in order for this to be a success, it needs to work for everyone i n the family, not just me, the techie. If I have ceiling speakers connected to a sonos amp, I need an alexa device to control them. Are there benefits to using a sonos one over an echo dot or echo show? Can I control the volume for the entire room from the sonos one or the echo dot by pressing the physical buttons, or do I have to use voice commands? When I speak to the echo dot, will alexa respond through the echo dot speaker, or the 'room' speakers (sonos+echo)? Thanks!

Is there a way to control Sonos room groupings via assistant? Understood you can’t group google groups with Sonos groups. In my case I am strictly interested in controlling Sonos groups. I have common groupings id like to configure. Instead of setting them up manually I’d love a way of setting these groups up on command

When I ask Alexa to play music on my Sonos one, it says “Playing Elton John (for example) on Spotify. Sorry that device is offline” but it isn’t...I can play Spotify from the Sonos app but not via Alexa. It’s worked fine up until today and I’ve changed nothing. Any ideas?
