Voice control and smart home

Alexa works great on my Sonos One but was wondering will it connect to Ring Doorbell 2 and per the amazon echo etc and allow voice control. Anybody had issues or any tips would be great before I purchase it.

I have a playbar, three play 3's, a sub, and a play 5. I previously had alexa and sonos working well together until my play 5 failed (stopped communicating wirelessly). Sonos replaced the defective play 5, and when I added it to my system Alexa would not discover the new device (the rest worked fine). After I followed instructions from several different threads trying to check all of the basic things (no duplicate names, all user profile info is filled out accurately, etc) the next step was to disable and re-enable the sonos skill which is where I've hit a wall. Now Alexa and my sonos system no longer integrate. Sonos is otherwise fully functional and works fine with my other music services and TV. The sonos skill will not enable and tells me "You need to link speakers to myaddress@email.com before you can add this skill". Of course my speakers are already linked to the account because it's fully functional, but I still logged into my sonos account and confirmed the emai

I have a google home mini and the Sonos beam in the same room, and they are linked in the Google Assistant app. However, when I ask a question such as “Hey Google, what time is it?”, both the Home Mini and the Beam answer (not in sync with each other, so they talk over each other). Is there any way to get just one or the other to answer, but not both?

Hi, As described in my title using my Beam Alexa will turn my TV on but if I ask her to turn the TV off she says 'OK' but the TV stays on. Commands I'm using are: "Alexa, turn the TV on" - this works "Alexa, turn the TV off" - does not work "Alexa, turn the living room TV off" - does not work The attached image shows how the TV is connected in my Alexa app. My TV is a Samsung UE50NU7400 Thanks for any help.

Hello I have 2 sonos beams and a sonos one, all 3 are doung exact same thing. None are shuffling music, when i ask to shuffle songs it plays the same song to start with and doesnt shuffle. Also when i say next it dors nothing, when the song finishes nothing else plays afterwords. I activate shuffle mode by command and it acknowledges this but still nothing. I dont know what to do next. This is a bit complicated: I have tried several times to link my Sonos One speaker pair to Google Assistant. I’ve tried in a couple of different ways: From the SONOS App, and when that failed from my google home app. In both cases I eventually ran into a notification screen stating I need to register my speakers. As far as I remember my speakers are registered, and the app and speakers are working fine. I followed the directions that popped up, stating to go to account settings to register speakers, and that if I cannot I need to perform an update. I went to account settings and did not find a way to register my speakers, so I attempted an update but the app is already up to date.

Hi. I currently have a generation one play5 and play1. They are in different rooms but are grouped. I am looking to replace the play1 with an Amazon Alexa enabled generation 2 play 1. Will I still be able to group the two so they play as a pair? Don’t want to buy it and then find out that they cannot work together.

So I have a playbar with a sub and a 1st gen Play 5. I successfully linked my sonos account with my Google home account. The Sonos speakers show up as devices, but when i try to give a google home command based on the name it says in my sonos, Google home doesn't know the device. Using Alexa before had no issues with these devices. Can someone explain what the issue is.

I have been using a number of amazon echos for the past few years. Currently I'm planning a major renovation and want to integrate sonos into the new home setup. I plan to have ceiling speakers in kitchen/diner and living room with a beam and a playbase in another room. My questions are around the integration with Alexa. in order for this to be a success, it needs to work for everyone i n the family, not just me, the techie. If I have ceiling speakers connected to a sonos amp, I need an alexa device to control them. Are there benefits to using a sonos one over an echo dot or echo show? Can I control the volume for the entire room from the sonos one or the echo dot by pressing the physical buttons, or do I have to use voice commands? When I speak to the echo dot, will alexa respond through the echo dot speaker, or the 'room' speakers (sonos+echo)? Thanks!

Is there a way to control Sonos room groupings via assistant? Understood you can’t group google groups with Sonos groups. In my case I am strictly interested in controlling Sonos groups. I have common groupings id like to configure. Instead of setting them up manually I’d love a way of setting these groups up on command

When I ask Alexa to play music on my Sonos one, it says “Playing Elton John (for example) on Spotify. Sorry that device is offline” but it isn’t...I can play Spotify from the Sonos app but not via Alexa. It’s worked fine up until today and I’ve changed nothing. Any ideas?

have had sonos for 7 years - love the speakers when they work ! now I am trying Amazon music and - yep available in the UK but not Ireland . WHY . I just got three Sonos One's and setup them up. Each one is in a different room and will be controlled independently. I tested out trying to use Alexa to start playing from Spotify. I discovered that you can only have one Sonos One playing from Spotify at any given time. The only option I found to be able to play three independent streams was to start the music from the Sonos App. Is there anyway to use Alexa to start three independent streams? Without that, there really is no point having the Sonos Ones. This feels extremely limited since I can only have one stream on at a time when using Alexa.

Hello all! I've chatted with Sonos support on Twitter regarding my issue, but I am not entirely convinced by their answer. Here is my setup: Two Sonos Play:1 stereo pairs, spread over four rooms. One Play:5 in the fifth room. I end up with three groups, group1 (stereo pair), group2 (stereo pair) and group3 (single stereo speaker). After linking my Sonos with Google Assistant through the app, all the three groups be seen I the Google Home app. Here is where the fun begins. If I say to my Google Home: "Play music on Sonos", "Play next on Sonos", "play previous on Sonos", I get responses like "OK, playing music on [name of the Sonos group name]" (I don't know how Google Home decides which one. Say, this is not a big deal... However, if I say "set volume to 20% on Sonos" or "turn it up / down on Sonos", only the volume on one of the Sonos groups is changed. Hi, I have a Play:3 I'm controlling with a Google home mini. In the home mini we use voice match so it recognizes who is taking (my wife or me) so I wonder if it's possible to link the sonos to two different assistant accounts so it plays my or my wife's music depending on who is taking. Do you know if it's possible?

Since a few days ago my Alexa will not work on Sonos. So I unlinked my account and now I can't link it back together. I keep getting "Oops! Amazon can not connect to Sonos" I have tried signing out of all Amazon apps/products and my email addresses are both the same. Nothing is working and I'm really starting to get frustrated and mad here. Anyone know what else to do or try?

Installed Google Assistant. Right speaker microphone light is out and button unresponsive. Google assistant only active on left speaker. Meanwhile, music (I use Apple Music) works fine both speakers + sub. Ideas? Thank you.

When I say “Hey google, play a song” it replies with “I can’t do that here, but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices” For some reason it doesn’t recognise the sonos speaker itself as a device to play from but if I’m already playing music on it, it can stop play next and everything. Google assistant is so much better than alexa for me since I have a ton of chromecast built-in devices. I fix would be great thanks

I have Play5 and Play3 speakers throughout our home. My Sonos account is logged in through the same email address I use for my Google Assistant. My Sonos account correctly lists all of my speakers I own as part of my system. So why, when setting up the Google Assistant skill, am I unable to get the setup wizard to recognize that fact and continue through the setup? Screenshot included:

When i try to set a music alarm using the new google assistant integration. It never recognizes the media. For example , I can say " Hey Google, Play paino in the background " and it plays this playlist from spotify. However if i say "Hey Google, Set paino in the background playlist for 4pm" ..it replies " Okay , what would you like to play" and then regardless of what i say , it keeps saying "Sorry , What did you want me to play " and after a few tries sets a standard alarm Is this feature officially supported? Is this a bug that needs fixing?

HI recently an upgrade allowed Alexa groups which meant that I would no longer need to include room name when asking Alexa to play music on my sonos speakers. However am unsure how to do this unless I have an Alexa device in each of my 5 rooms as seems that as I have 3 Alexa devices 2x dots and 1x spot I would be limiting the device to a specific room. Can you help me clarify whether alexa groups feature can work in my situation as not needing to name room would simplify things. Tthanks Russ

My Sonos One is registered to my address in the U.S., but I brought it with me to Europe. Google Assistant works fine most of the time and can be used to put on songs from Youtube Music. However, occasionally, Google Assistant puts on a version of the song that seems to be inaccessible in the EU region. For instance, if I ask it to play Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" or "Bad Blood", it says, e.g., "Okay, putting on Taylor Swift's 'Blank Space'". However, the song is then immediately paused before it even starts playing, and a window is shown, saying that "Playback paused because this account is being used in another location". However, this is wrong; my account is not being used elsewhere, and most other songs work fine. On closer inspection, I realized that the version of Blank Space it puts on is called "Blank Space – Taylor Swift ⋅ 1989 (Deluxe Edition)". No song with exactly that title shows up when I search through Youtube Music manually (in the EU); the version of Blank Space

It’s great that we can now drop the “Alexa, play in the lounge”, when the instruction is given in the lounge!! But how do you identify which Sonos device is in which room, using the Alexa app, when the device names listed are different to those displayed in the Sonos app??!! My Sonos system has changed over time, with speakers being moved from one room to another as my system has grown. As a result, there is a mismatch between the device names I see in my Sonos app (in Settings->Room, which, incidentally, are also different to what I see listed under Setting->About my Sonos System) and what I see listed when I want to add devices to groups using the Alexa app. How do I resolve this confusion? For example, the Alexa app lists a Sonos device called “Den”. It’s one of my speakers for sure, but I’ve never called any room the “Den” and vaguely recall this being named by a Sonos engineer on a support call. But a device called “den” is nowhere to be found in my Sonos app!,
