I am trying to use a Sonos Ray soundbar as the sound device on my personal computer. I have used both an internet cable to the computer as well as an optical cable. The Ray is shown as the main sound device & I can see the sound is playing but I cannot hear it. They are all on the same router.Whilst the Sonos Ray is recognised by my computer, my Sonos App on my mobile phone cannot find it.Can anyone give advice/help please?
With recent news of the "Pinewood" Streaming Box being scrapped, I have been considering what functionality of that product I was looking forward to. The video streaming services were almost irrelevant for me. What I was looking forward to was the box providing a gateway to wireless connectivity to Sonos Speakers for TV Audio, with HDMI Switch. My request is that Sonos focus on that. Forget the video streaming services. And focus on a hub that connects to TV via hdmi and provides functionality to wireless connect to Sonos Speakers, with multiple HMDI connections to run Games Console, 4K Blu- Ray etc through the audio. In my mind it seems like something so simple that would open a new world for Sonons Home Theatre. Please Sonos, I would love a Sonos TV Hub.
Had to change my router today so needed to add Sonos to network. Turns out my Connect Gen2 is too old to auto join so had to factory reset, now still can’t join network app keeps sending me round in circles.Sonos people, this is the latest in a long line of problems I have had in the last few months, please guide me through this latest one, or if anyone else can, I would be very grateful.
I have S2 Controller Version 16.1 build 78151030 on my iPad. When I use the app on my iPad, there appears a message that the iOS version on my iPad is “no longer supported”. However, it works perfectly. That’s good. On my Mac, I have S2 Controller Version: 16.6 build 83161210. When I attempt to use the app on my Mac, I does not work, but demands that I check for updates. I do not want to update on my Mac because of a long history of Sonos updates causing my system to fail and requiring laborious troubleshooting and repair. How can I get my Sonos S2 controller on my Mac to work again without risking the failure of my existing Sonos system? Thanks for helping if you can.
I ordered a pair of Sonos ERA 100 which I want to connect as stereo pair. I know using Sonos App, it can be paired to stereo. But I also want to use those pair with my MacBook and Sony Bravia 3. Is it possible to pair them with these devices using WIFI?To make it simple. Once I have paired both Sonos Era 100 using my iPhone App, will these speakers work as stereo when connected with MacBook and Sony Bravia 3 TV using WiFi?Moderator edit: Combined posts
Hello everybody, when I launch the app, select my speakers (2 Play5 Gen1 Stereo) and choose my TuneIn radio station and put volume to e.g. 5 as soon the music starts the volume goes up automatically to 25! Independent of last volume when turning off (at any other speaker of my system). When adding additional speakers it seams to refer to latest volume on that speaker.I read that there is no default volume in any settings. So how can I fix this anointing way to loud start up volume? Thanks from Munich 🤗
Ok, so right now I have two era 100’s and a sub mini and love the way they sound for music. Using them for movies is good too, but I’m considering adding a Beam (gen. 2) to add that extra goodness for watching movies. So the question is, once I have all 4 units (the sub mini, the beam, and the 2 era 100’s) configured together, is there a SIMPLE way to disable the beam when I just want to play music through Airplay (or the Sonos app)Alternatively, if temporarily disabling the Beam is not possible, is there a way, when I want to listen to music, to have both the beam and the era 100’s playing full stereo - meaning the era 100’s aren’t acting as ‘surrounds’ for playing music? Thanks for any info!
I would like to have the results from a search list items according to my preference. I’ve been using Sonos for many years because I could prioritized by music library, not paid streaming services.Searching from the home screen has music library as the LAST group!? Why Sonos? I can rearrange the home screen to have my music library first, how do I have my music library results first in search results.I know I can go to the music library first then search, but why make this an extra step. Why do you push streaming services first, because it is financially advantageous to you? Unless I am missing a setting, I see no way to change the search order results. Please give us music lover back the control to set our own priorities.
This is only a recent issue for me as I have switched from using a Port connected to an amp to an Era 100 in the bedroom. But minimum volume of 1% is too loud for nighttime use. I see it’s been an ongoing issue for years And my Play 1s are the same but not really an issue as I don’t use them in the same way.Is this ever going to get fixed or is it just tough, that’s how it is? It’s my only gripe with my system but it’s quite a big issue and possibly the issue that makes me have to try something else. Cheers
I actually posted a post about this before. And from a conversation I had with Sonos support they say this is normal. Um... I thought this was a bug but they said this is normal.Of course, this can be considered normal in terms of marketing strategies. This is because it will encourage people to purchase separate subs. If LFE from surround sound and overhead channels is managed through a woofer built into the soundbar, it is good for consumers but not for sellers because it creates tremendous progress in the Bass experience. When Sonos Beam Gen 2 is used alone, the LFE signals generated from the surround and overhead channels are not processed by the woofer embedded in the beam. Only the LFE generated from the L,C,R channels is processed by the woofer embedded in the bar. Therefore, when LFE occurs on the surround and overhead channels, an empty can is heard rather than a grand bass.On the other hand, when the rear speakers are used together, such as Sonos Beam Gen 2 and Sonos Era 100,
Does turntable require a wire to connect to Sonos because I was wondering the to keep the beauty of wireless and add a turntable to it does that is possible ?
Hi recently purchased the above, although the sound through the HDMI is very good and full, I have found the quality of sound is lacking when playing music through the Sonos app.In order or get a decent amount of sound, the vol needs to be at around 80 (my play 5 second gen) would not need this amount of vol.The sound is also very thin sounding with little midstageI have spoken to tech support online, who are unable to find any issues, just tell me to fiddle about with the EQ and suggest I telephone their support.Anyone else come across this issue and if so what was the resolution? thanks
Hi everyone,I have a setting problem of Arc and Port. My Port is now connecting to my Hi Fi system for streaming music which works fine. The problem is I cannot add Arc into the same Sonos app. The App can’t find a new component while I try to adding into the existing system. The Arc is mainly for TV watching. Anyone can advise if it is possible to put both devices into the app so that I can control through the app. Many Thanks.
Hello, I’ll try to be as detailed as possible so here we go. I currently have and Arc, Sub and 2x One SL’s in my living room. With the arc connected to the TV and the sub and 2 One SL’s linked to the Arc in the same ‘Sonos room’ (living room), this is my surround sound setup which I also use to stream spotify through. I also have a Sonos move which is separate but can link with my Arc and play the same audio and can be carried around the house and into the garden for example. My question is this, if I was to connect a turntable (with a built in pre amp) to the Sonos amp and then to passive third party speakers in a separate room (my upstairs office) would I also be able to play this audio (from the turntable) simultaneously on the rest of my Sonos system (surround sound and move) wirelessly through the SONOS app? Or is this not possible? I hope that makes sense, and help is appreciated.
I have an Apple TV 4k, a Vizio M55 and a Sonos Playbar. The TV is connected to the Playbar via optical cable. Apple TV is connected to the Vizio via HDMI. I used to be able to control the volume via my Apple TV of the Playbar. Now it doesn’t work and I feel lost. I had to reconnect the Sonos as a new system as ai changed the wifi. the app says apple tv remote should not be used during set up of the playbar.
Having recently finally upgraded my Android and desktops app to the latest releases, I feel that the ‘new’ S2 app is now nearly as functional as the ‘old’ S2 app. However, there are a few features that I valued before that don’t seem to be there. My question is, are any/all coming in future releases? The persistent notification I used to find really handy for quickly managing the sound and on/off, but now have to open the app, wait a few seconds and then get access to the relevant controls. If I am streaming radio, my ‘station of choice’ is BBC Radio 3 via BBC Sounds. On the desktop app this shows an image, either of show or music playing, but this is not seen on the app. Also when streaming BBC radio via BBC Sounds, clicking in the 3 dots (bottom right) there is an option to “Show in Sounds”. This used to open up the BBC Sounds app so that you could see more detail about the show currently playing (or look at schedules etc). At the moment clicking this simply returns you to the S2 di

I am an electrician. I have a customer that would like to set up a 30 x 16' room as both his ultimate TV theatre and music listening room. The walls are drywalled so moving speaker wire around is not an option but could be used around the TV (if needed). I have been asked to add receptacles around the room where speakers are needed at the speaker height. Can you suggest the best setup and heights for speakers in this situation. I've suggested the Arc mounted under the TV, a Sub 4 on floor under the TV and two Era 300 for rear. He is suggesting we also need two front L and R speakers as well. Any help with a proven setup would be appreciated.
How come when I use Alexa on my era 300 to set a alarm for the morning using Apple or Spotify music Alexa doesn’t cooperate and just say I don’t understand that
Ever since the new app came out, we’ve lost the ability to set inputs as favorites. Is this on the roadmap to add to the new app?
I got an Era 100 yesterday, and set it up in my kitchen near an existing Sonos One. When playing a mono stream to Everywhere (as I usually do), and listening between the two speakers, it’s clear that they are reversed in audio polarity. There is no stable central image as there should be between two speakers playing the same content, and the bass is weak. Is this a defect, or is there a reason Sonos reversed the polarity between speaker families?
I love a lot of the Sonos Radio stations I’ve listened to - but sometimes I can’t find them when I go to Sonos Radio and browse the categories. Two examples (in app and web app) - If I browse to sleep sounds, I see 3 stations:Piano for Sleeping, Rain and White Noise. But I remembered using others ones - so when I search for sleep I find others - like:Rockin’ Chair, Oceon Sounds, Forest Sounds, Rainforest, Pink Noise, Brown Noise. When I browse to Artist Exclusives, I see 9 stations, but I remembered Bjork had one and it isn’t there. If I search for Bjork, I find it in the search results. I tried the Sonos support bot - which basically told me to use search for the missing ones. I find that unsatisfying though. I hoped that browse would always be a full set of stations where I could be introduced to new stations and see all existing stations. I have no idea what other stations are missing from browse. Has anyone compiled a list of stations or have any tips on finding the missing Sonos St
Hi All! I am contemplating installing a Sonance MAG 6.1 but need 2 add 2 speakers which I understand can not be added in wired fashion. I was told that i could run 2 extra wifi speakers off the sonos app. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not? Thanks!
Where is the EQ setting in Android app ?In IOS (IPad) i could find it in Device setting. The inconsistent menu between IOS and Android is confusing.
I recently purchased the new Sonos Arc Ultra as the main soundbar for my living room. I’m in a new house, and the living room is just about 20 yards away from another secondary living space. One of the things that sold me on Sonos was the ability so connect many speakers throughout the home, since we have a fairly open floor plan and like to entertain. In my secondary living space I have 2 bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer that I’d like to be able to sync with the main soundbar for TV audio. Will the Sonos Port work for this? We use YouTube TV, so playing audio through the two discreet speaker systems means the audio in both rooms is out of sync with each other, which is maddening since the rooms are within earshot of each other. I’d planned on hooking up the Port to my bookshelf speakers, but I’ve read some places that there is a lag on the TV audio. It’s not clear to me if that’s lag from the TV itself, or from another “primary” sonos device that’s playing TV audio. Basically, the g
