Hi everyone. I tried to do some digging before posting, but unfortunately everyone’s room dimensions are different so it was hard to gather what is good for me or not.

Question:

I have a 2 story family room (approx. 20ft high flat ceiling) with a ceiling fan in the middle of the ceiling. The rest of the room is appropriate 14ft long x 12ft wide (couch would be placed approx 12-13ft from the Arc). I have a fireplace mantle that I would ideally place the Sonos arc ultra, at approx. a 4ft height, and it would be pretty dead center in the room on the back wall. Because of the high ceiling height, is the Arc largely going to lose a lot of its effectiveness with the upward firing speakers? Should I keep my play base or go with a beam and skip on the upward firing speakers? Or is it still by far worth it to go with the Arc Ultra?

Additionally with the above, Era 100 or Era 300 rear speakers? I assume if I lose the effectiveness of the upward firing speakers of the Arc, that I should default to the Era 100’s for surround (the surround speakers would be placed at approx. a 3ft height behind the couch). This would of course be paired with a Sonos sub.

I’ve included pictures of the living room to help see the setup. *These pics are from the home listing (I just purchased the home). Please disregard the couch placement in them. The couch configuration will be facing the fireplace.

I appreciate any and all help on answering this. I’ve been an avid fan of Sonos for quite sometime and have been using a Sonos 5.1 system for nearly 6yrs (play bar, sub, 2 x Sonos One’s).

This is going to be paired with a 2024 83” LG C4 OLED if that matters. I haven’t checked, but I assume it has both eArc as well as optical. Seems like eArc is the connection to go with for the Sonos Arc Ultra...

Arc Ultra, you need the additional sound even if the height won't be doing much.

300s the Atmos from them will help overcome the height issue.

One and maybe 2 Sub 4s to fill that big open room.
