Hi everyone,I’m trying to add a product to my current system that already has 1x SONOS SL in it. My second SONOS SL product wasn’t found when searching. Unplugged and tried everything, apart from factory reset. If I factory reset the second SONOS SL, will it reboot the system (including the first SONOS SL)? scared to try!
Hi,My first post…I’m thinking of installing my first Sonos components and would appreciate some advice from the group:I have a large open-plan living space (approx. 11M x3.5M) with anLG TV towards one end on the side wall. I’m think of adding a Beam (Gen2) soundbar to the TV (so pointing across the room) and then a ‘HiFi’ at the far end firing down the whole length of the 11M room. The sound stage of the TV and HiFi would therefore be at right angles to each other and would not be operated at the same time. For the Hifi set up, I’m thinking of using a Sonus Amp connected to an existing pair of quality speakers and Sub.My primary use of this system would be using the Beam when watching TV and the Amp when listening to music. I will need the power of the AMP to fill the room. The main music sources will be Spotify, Internet Radio and occasionally a turntable or CD (I appreciate the AMP only has one pair of phono connectors to share between turntable and CD).In addition to the TV remote, I
I’m paying the money for the Sonos Radio HD and I’m very happy with many of the channels. I’m surprised that there is a gap in the Metal/Hard Rock category. There are several metal stations based on year groups, but where is the Hard Rock? New Lords of Metal plays a lot of great new metal but no hard rock? So, where is the new hard rock? It’s not even in the Rock category either? I hope the curating will improve as more subscribers join. For example, the Blues Masters is great, but the music is on a loop playing the same selection of songs over and over. Thanks!
I’ve noticed several people complaining about how the speakers are functioning in surround and Atmos setups. I’d like to start a discussion to verify my observations. I find that without exception, all surround content has poor audio balancing. Especially when it comes to the balance of dialogue (center channel) and music/effects (all other channels.) As an audio professional, I understand that much of the quality of the balance is determined by the creator of the content (Mixing engineers). Also, I understand that more recent movies have higher effects levels. Nonetheless, even when playing classic, award wining movies, even those that won awards for sound mixing, the dialogue levels are ridiculously low. I have experimented with Arcs, Beams, Amps… it doesn’t matter. Any configurations has low dialogue. I have tried adjusting settings. Even with the modes to lower loud sounds and chance speech make little difference. I would love some other insight into this and see if we can get Sono
So I have the new sky glass, only problem this doesn't have a optical output. Is there anyway to convert HDMI to optical?
I know if I have an Arc and two ceiling speakers in a surround configuration on a Sonos Amp, I cannot also have a third party subwoofer connected to that Amp. That said, is it possible to have a third party subwoofer on a Sonos Amp and third party surround speakers on a second Amp and then put that together with the Arc for a 5.1 system?
Hi guys, looking for some help….I currently have the beam 2 paired to a sonos amp which is powering two rear ceiling integrated speakers (not sonance), I am considering purchasing a sub to make it a 5.1 setup. Is there a way I can use the two ceiling speakers powered by the amp as height channels for dolby atmos, to create a 5.1.2 setup, as they are currently setup as LS & RS?Second question I like the idea of changing the beam for the arc, and using the beam elsewhere, the issue I have is it would be on a shelf within my tv cabinet below the tv. Currently works fine with the beam as that has forward facing speakers, but my obvious concern is whether the upfiring and side firing speakers on the arc would ruin the sound being within a cabinet? There is plenty of space to accommodate the arc with sufficient room around it, and the front of the cabinet is covered by a speaker mesh grill…here it is for reference https://www.optimumproject.co.uk/products/pro1300f ..would trueplay for in
Hi guys, I would greatly appreciate your help on the question below: Premise, I'm not much of an expert on audio formats, and I probably understand the difference between multichannel PCM and Dolby Atmos. More precisely, I have an LG oled C9 that supports EARC to which I have connected my new sonos ARC; I also connected my blu ray player (sony x800) to a normal HDMI 2.1 input on the TV. Why when I launch a movie (Dune) that is supposed to have audio in Dolby Atmos, on the sonos app S2 comes out Dolby PCM multichannel 5.1? Why not dolby atmos? I know PCM is a lossless format, but my question is: does it already contain Atmos data? Thanks so much!
I saw a couple closed topics on this, but the answers were inconsistent. I’m planning on getting a pair of Fives to setup in stereo mode. As I don’t want the controls to be on the side of the speaker when orienting them vertically, I’d like to orient them horizontally. Given that with a single speaker, horizontal puts it in stereo mode and vertical in mono, and vertical seems to be the recommendation for a stereo pair, can I orient a pair horizontally and have them work properly in stereo mode? Also, when in stereo mode, does the volume control on one speaker control the volume for the pair or just that one speaker?
Just a quick couple of questions. I’ve currently got 2 Play:1’s, Is it possible to pair them with the beam (gen 2) for surround sound? Second question is about Airplay 2. Since the Play:1’s don’t have Airplay 2, if I got a Beam (gen 2) and set up the play:1’s, would anything i Airplay to the Beam get sent to the play:1’s too? Thanks
Hello.Using Sonos S1 due hardware. I would like to change a recurrent alarm to a radio station. I go to …Settings > System > Alarms > (select alarm) > Music > myTuner Radio > ?!?!Form now on, I don’t find any possibility to search for a specific radio station. The huge lists are not even sorted alphabetically. This is very poorly designed. How can I find my station without wasting time scrolling through the endless list of stations? Thanks.
I know this question has been asked (but apparently not answered) previously, but I thought I’d try again. When listening to music directly through Apple Music on my Sonos speakers (via Airplay), I definitely notice improved quality with the new “lossless” quality offered by Apple. My ears, however, seem to think that the quality isn’t as high-fidelity when I listen to the same music via the S2 app (which, of course, is pulling the same music from my Apple Music subscription). However, I’m willing to admit that this perceived difference in quality may be psycho-somatic (since I’m still confused as to whether the S2 app is capable of accessing lossless files when it queries the Apple Music database).Any chance either Apple or Sonos have provided an authoritative answer to this question? I.e. when S2 streams a file from Apple Music, is Apple giving them access to the lossless files? Or is Apple reserving those files for customers who are using the Apple Music interface? (For what it’s wor
I currently have a surround set up with the Sonos Arc and two SL ones and gen. 3 subwoofer. When I’m playing a movie with Dolby Atmos it is not showing in the sonos app that its coming through as Dolby Atmos. Instead it is showing pcm 2.0.. I have my system playing through a Samsung QLED Tv model Q80 . This is driving me nuts!!! Any suggestions would ge appreciated!
Hello everyoneI'm looking to buy a used connect amp, days ago I found one with thesn 1308 00 ......... and thanks to you I discovered that it was a 1st gen.now I have found one with the sn 1804 5c ....... can you tell me if it is a first or second gen.?Thanks for your help
My sonos roam is brand new out the box and it's not charging and not turning on. How do I order a replacement? I can see this is a long standing issue from other reviews online.
Play bar will not connect to S2, which I recently got in order to connect new Sonos speakers. Speakers work great on S2. The playbar was connected to S1 and worked fine. I did a reset with play bar connected to ethernet. Playbar has green blinking light but is not recognized by S2. Now I can’t connect to either S2 or S1 so the playbar is not working at all. Just trying the have the playbar on S2 along with the new speakers.
Hi, I am planning to buy a sonos 5 and a turntable to start listening to old LPs, I would also like to listen to old CD collections, the questions are:Can you recommend a CD player I should buy? Can I use the external port on the sonos 5 for a CD player. Is it possible to use a twin adapter so I can have both CD and Turntable connected to the single Sonos 5 external port?Thanksmccmyles
Please can you feature a ‘disable the mic button’ on the Beam. It’s so annoying, I have 3 of these and the cleaner constantly turns the mics off.
I accept it is not possible to stereo pair two Roams via Bluetooth. However, the Roam appears to handle Bluetooth and Wi-Fi simultaneously as I can receive a Bluetooth input from my Sony Bluetooth record deck and then group the roam with my other Sonos speakers via Wi-Fi.I would like to buy a second Roam and use two as a stereo pair with my Bluetooth deck. Can I do this? Will one of the Roams be able to simultaneously receive a Bluetooth input from the deck whilst working as a stereo pair with the second Roam via Wi-Fi?Logic says yes, but I’d rather not shell out another £179 if it doesn't work.
I have seen a couple of questions regarding the LED on the Sonos Amp - but I am confused …The Amp appears to be permanently on, which, in this day and age of power crises, seems a little environmentally irresponsible. The unit remains quite warm to the touch, indicating power consumption even if the unit is not amplifying or playing anything. If the central sensor is touched, the LED flashes and the unit then becomes cooler. So what is the sensor doing in this case? What exactly is the point of the LED? It doesn’t seem to indicate anything … line in status, power status , anything … The only use is perhaps to indicate where the touch sensor is in a pitch black room?It would be useful if there was a different colour for an active line-in signal or perhaps if the power amps were in standby mode ...I presume the only way to power it down is to pull the power lead or switch off at the wall?
Hi all, basically what the title says,If I look for a song using the main search function and select it either on the Artist or the Title tab, if I select More, there is the option to create a “Station”, which would play the song and similar ones but in a very limited fashion (no scrubbing, no going back to the previous song, not being able to see the playlist)However, if I search for a playlist of my own created in Apple Music, and pick a song from inside there, when I select More, there is no such option, I wonder why that is, what makes it differentThanks!
Sonos and audio noob here. Just starting out with a Beam in the living (tv + music) and a One in the bedroom. My wife wants to keep the cd collection + a player, so I'm looking at Connect-ing the player. However, our current mini audioset has only headphone output, so now I'm wondering whether that's enough as input for the Connect (with an adapter cable), or whether I should look into getting a new cd player. And if so, what specs for the output connection? Dual tulip connectors?(Yes, I expect the cd player to have a limited lifespan after I introduce her to the joys of the Sonos controller--I've already ripped the entire cd collection to our music library. But for now, this is the path I'm on.)PS: Checking the Sonos site, they don't seem to advertise the Connect any longer. It's still for sale elsewhere though. Would that even be compatible with the new Beam/One I have?
Is it possible to mute the bleep that accompanies a tap on the volume control of the new Play 5?
Hello,I would like to upgrade from Sonos One to Home Cinema system using my eligibility for 30% discount. My question is whether I’ll be able to use my old Sonos One after the change os it will be deactivated by Sonos. Thank youJavier
Just back from iKEA to buy a bookshelf speaker for my garage, but they had run ouf of the black I wanted. When I asked when the speakers would be back in stock I was told that a new bookshelf and lamp are due for delivery in January or February 2022.I can find leaked details about the lamps design change, which I think looks good. However, I can find no details at all about the changes to the bookshelf speaker.Does anyone have any info on the new speaker?
