What speaker by itself sounds better? Move or Play3? Noticeable difference? I'm assuming two play 3’s would sound better than a single Move? Thanks!
I have had two fives, for a while, and decided to take the plunge and add the sub as well. Just got it today and after placing it between the two stereo fives and doing a trueplay session, I tried different music types to test what benefits you get. I found out that value depends vastly on music choice. Basically, you need recordings that actually have those very low frequencies in them. Not only electronic but also “analogue” jazz and classic work well if there are “base” instruments. Also, when listening at low volume, the sub helps lift those low frequencies without having to turn up the volume. Try e.g. Billie Eilish’s “Your Power” for a better experience with the sub. What music do you think works well with a sub and two stereo fives?
Dear Sonos, please please allow a 5.1 setup to mute the soundbar when playing music. So it becomes 2.1Over the internet I’ve seen multiple people really wanting this feature!because the music of 2.1 sounds so good on Sonos and the music on the arc comparatively so bad :(
Greetings, I am preparing to set up a completely new TV room and I could use a small piece of advice. First details, then a couple of questions for anyone willing to help . . . -TV (Sony A80J) is being delivered later this week-Sonos (Beam Gen2, Sub + two S:1s) is sitting in boxes currently, will be connected via eARC-Ancillaries will also be tossed into the mix: Sony BRP, Dish Satellite Receiver + OTA antennaeQuestions:-Which should be set up first, the TV or the Sonos system?-Should I connect everything & plug into electric outlets prior to setting anything/everything up?-Any particular pain points or cautions that would be good to know?-Also, is there any value in allowing the TV to do its thing sound-wise along with Sonos? The TV has decently good native sound (or so I’m told) and I guess I’m wondering if allowing the TV to emit sound along with the Sonos equipment offers some extra “oomph” or if it is best to just forget about this idea? For what it’s worth, I will be using
I listen to music by streaming over my home Wifi network to a Sonos One speaker. The only available connection on the back of th Sonos One seems to be ethernet. My questions are:Would a decent external DAC improve the sound quality of streamed music to my Sonos One? If so, how would I connect the DAC to the Sonos One?Thanks
Hi All,I am trying to get a turntable system setup and am currently picking out components. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with the setup stated in the title? I read an old thread on this forum about the same setup except the Sonos Amp was swapped out for the Sonos Play 5 and that worked, would my setup be any different? Additionally, would I need the Amp or could I get by with the Port? The speakers I would be using are a handful of Sonos Ones, one Beam, and one Arc. Thank you so much!
Connected System shows Play 3, Play 5 and Move (L & R), but no sound from Moves.
Hi everyone,I’ve seen that in the iOS app you can access directly to the equalizer from the now playing screen. In Android app we don’t have this option, could you add this shorcut? I think is very useful and reduce a lot the time to modify equalizer settings. Thanks!
For my future basement renovations i’m thinking if I have left over budget in the project to buy some in-celling speakers and in-wall speakers but, I like the aesthetics of the in-celling speakers better so will the sound be compromised and not being tuned correctly beacuse they were designed differently verses in-wall + in-celling speakers? I could have all the speakers be celling but people say that sounds less room-filling than having celling and wall speakers. My current plan is to have a pair in-celling, pair in-wall, and a sonos beam.
When watching TV, the single most useful button on any remote is the mute button. The Android app has mostly handy functionally in the icon tray for quick access: play/pause, skip, back, adjust volume (which takes you to quick access to be able to do so, or to mute). But it would be great to just mute right there in the icon tray Especially so because there is space available for it... presently there are options to do two things that seem random to me: turn speech enhancement on/off and turn night sounds on/off. It seems to me you'd want the icon tray buttons to allow you to quickly do what you do most often, and I can't think of why either of those things meet that criteria, whereas mute absolutely does.My vote is to replace one of those buttons with mute... Long live mute! Long live mute!
I believe the Roam and the Record player connect - both displaying blue light BUT no sound emerges from the Roam speaker. Can/should this work?
Hi, having sonos app running in win 10 would be possible adjust volume level of the sonos app from windows volume settings in the task bar?In the same way as we are able on android phone to adjust volume with phone physical buttons. Hi,I bought Optoma HD28hdr projector and sonos Beam Gen2 ( with subwoofer ). Can someone please suggest which HDMI splitter I should use. Please share the link, Beam Gen 2 has arc port and HDFURY arcana is very expensive. Thanks
@Chicks, thank you for the port of your touchscreen controller to a view only HDMI code. I’ve got your code installed on my Pi Zero W, auto login to shell, the Sonos.py script auto-running and edited to my named speaker group, and it connected to the HDMI on the big-screen. Unfortunately, the Pi isn’t showing the artwork/music on screen, just the bash prompt after the linux boot menu. Can you direct me to what I am missing from the auto-run or the python or the output variable for the screen? Is there one more utility to be the front end? Maybe my systmctrl of the Sonos app isn’t running?I needed to chmod your utility to executable, so that should be OK now…. Thoughts?
Is it possible to add 2 ( gen. 3 ) subs with a pair of play 5 using S2 software (same room) Thanks.
Hi, I have two questions regarding my Sonos Roam which I hope somebody can help me with. Can I place my Sonos Roam in the bathroom? Will it be destroyed due to steam/moist from shower? Can I wirelessly charge my Sonos Roam on an ordinary QI charger (like what I use for my iPhone) or do I have to buy the special Sonos charger if I want it wirelesslybr, Alexander
Considering upgrading my system from S1 to S2 but slightly nervous that no sooner have I done so but Sonos will release S3 products that are not backwards compatible with S2 products. Does anyone have any thoughts or insight into whether such a release will happen, and if so how far into the future. S2 was released I think about 10 years after S1 so by that logic we are not far off an S3 release. If there is a future new gen on the horizon I'll hold off from upgrading now.
Hi, Can you send me the tracklist for your pindrop radio station for the 20/21 & 22 January please?
I have an LG OLED55CXPUA TV and I'm using the Beam as my audio device. It works perfectly thru the ARC HDMI port of my TV. However, I want to extract either optical or analog audio using a HDMI Audio extractor and feed the HDMI thru to the Beam. However I can't get any audio thru to the Beam or out of the optical or analog outputs. Does anyone know a brand or model of an extractor that will work? thks/Roger
So when I made a playlist on YouTube music I got all the other playlists and put it in one big one which I’d 1,500 songs for some reason on the YouTube music app it shows 1,500 but when I play it on Sonos it only shows 999 am I doing something wrong?
I have an XBR TV ARC port connected to a SONOS AMP with speakers above the bed.Occasionally, I want to switch to the TV speakers instead of the Overhead speakers driven by the SONOS AMP. When I open TV settings and switch to TV speakers, it does not switch.Even if I turn off auto playback on the sonos app, TV won’t switch back to TV speakers. in fact the TV insists on sticking with the ARC channel and I get no sound at all out of either locations. If I disconnect the HDMI cable out of the ARC port, the TV switches input. any thought ideas on this?
I have a Sonos amp and I want to wire 4 speakers to it. 1 pair of svc speakers in bedroom, 1 dvc speaker in bathroom, 1 dvc speaker in closet. Can the amp handle that? All speakers are 8 ohms.
It seems that i have wifi and internet in order to play music on my sonosIs it so?
HI! So am trying to simplify my current setup which works with less stuff. My PC is connected to the Beam via an old SoundBlaster X-FI USB and it’s SPDIF port. Would love to get rid of said SB device so I tried two HDMI dummy plugs (the first is this one and the second is this one and I suspect it’s the same chip in both) as they list that audio will be passed through in 2.1 - so add a middleman to fool the PC graphics card (NVidia 1650) that there is a monitor connected in the HDMI port while the monitor is in the displayport connection for maximum refresh rates.Alas, with these 2 plugs, no sound whatsoever is coming to my Sonos Beam. So before I RMA the 2nd one as I RMA’d the 1st one, am I missing a setting or something to look out for? Changed default devices, rebooted, nothing come out.If this is not working and will never work, anyone has a suggestion? I could get a PCIe soundcard I guess, and look at displayport splitter (which does not meet the goal of removing external devi
Hi! I am new to Sonos Family so I apologize if this is a really basic question. My current set up is I have the Arc and two Ones and a Sub. Typically- for TV I am watching/listening through Apple TV- sounds great- love it. Noticed the other day that there may be a difference in how songs sound when I play them through Apple TV or through the Sonos App directly to the speakers. Should that be the case? Are there settings I should update on my apple tv? Any help would be great. Thank you!
