Howdy, I’ve had the Move a week. The sound is much better than the HomePod speaker I sold to buy the Move.  When I fist set the Move up it worked fine. But ever since I took it off the charger once, I’ve had a problem. The problem I’m having is that it disappears in my Output Device list. To get it to reappear I have to turn Wi-Fi off/on.  Last night it happened. I turned Wi-Fi off/on, the Move was back in the Output list. Then this morning when I got up, it wasn’t in the list -- see attached screenshot. The fix was to turn Wi-Fi off/on. The Move wasn’t asleep, or at least I don’t believe it is. This morning I tried pressing the sleep button, after reading the forum. Didn’t help. The only thing that seems to help is turning Wi-Fi on/off. I submitted diagnostics - 1473451241. Gracias,    

My Sonos life began with a Gen 1 Play:1.  I was amazed by the clarity of sound from something so small and was happy for a while.  But … the sound was mono and I wanted more.  This wasn’t because the Play:1 was in any way deficient in design or execution, it just didn’t have enough speakers in it. So I went out and bought a second Play:1, and was amazed by the clarify of sound from something so small and was happy for a while.  But … I couldn’t plug it into my TV to listen to music or movies. This wasn’t because the Play:1 was in any way deficient in design or execution, it just didn’t have the right connectivity, or the CPU power to deal with Dolby 5.1 audio. So I went out and bought a Beam, and was amazed by the clarity of sound from something so small.  I was even more amazed that I could re-purpose my Gen 1 Play:1s as surround speakers: even though there weren’t capable in their own right of connecting to my TV, the Sonos system design allowed them to be used alongside a newer box

I have a Sonos Amp upstairs with speakers and Samsung TV downstairs. I cannot get the Sonos AMP near the TV so that I could connect it to the TV using HDMI. I am told that I would need wireless AV to connect my TV to Sonos. I do not know which wireless AV or the specifications that I should be looking for to connect to the TV? Or, are there any other options to connect?

Just taken delivery of a Move and am disappointed to find that the charger socket, charger base and cable are all hard wired together.  I want to position the Move on some built-in desk furniture, where all the power sockets are located underneath, accessible through cutouts in the desk top.  Problem is neither the charger socket nor the base will fit through the cutout, so I am going to have to run the cable across the desk.  I realise I could probably use the USB-C charging point instead but then I’d lose the convenience of just being to pick up the Move and go when I want to take the music outside. Normal way round this sort of problem would be to cut off the moulded power plug and fit another one back after running the cable through the cutout, but the plug on the Move is integral with the charger.  Since the charger base only has a two pin spring-loaded connection point to connect to the Move battery, my assumption is that the cable is ordinary twin core low voltage cable.  Is the

Does anyone have experience with the trade-up program through Best Buy? They are offering a 30% discount, similar to the Sonos (direct) trade-up. I wonder if you could purchase a valid older/used Sonos product on eBay and trade it in at Best Buy to get the 30% coupon.   Sounds like when you go through Best Buy, the old Sonos gear doesn’t need to be on your Sonos account. I wonder if Best Buy is actually checking serial numbers to confirm that the item hasn’t already been “recycled.” I asked Best Buy customer service rep and she wasn’t aware of any “serial number checking” on their end. Having just received the Move, a few questions related to the device in standby: 1. Will it automatically enter a sort of power standby if not used and no music is playing? If so, at what interval? 2. Can it be woken from standby By playing to it From the app, without physically interacting with the Move? Experience thus far is inconclusive as when let powered on but not in use, the app seemed to reflect it was unavailable, but when I entered the room the lights on Move remained on. If I power off using the rear button, it then doesn't appear that it can be reached from the app or powered on remotely. As a result I'm not clear which is the best/correct method of entering standby. My preference would be to simply leave it powered 'on' and have it enter a low power sleep state until music is played to it or I physically press a button to wake.

I can't charge the battery of my sonos move through the usb port.

After reading and researching for a while from a lot of experienced audiophile users on this community I decided to return my play 5 and get the ones stereo paired + sub. The first time I turned it own I was amazed by the sound quality and details.  Although I am still not sure if I should use trueplay. My living room is a little over 20 by 16 ft and also opens to a kitchen area which is 12 by 7fr. Also has a little echo effect when I clap my hands. Trueplay does bring out excellent sound quality but feels dampens the bass.I have tried a lot of eq settings on bass level and sub output level. I read a few forums where it said bass doesnt dampen much if you trueplay only on the immediate area and not walk around to a larger area in my case till the kitchen open area as well, Does it really matter by the area you cover while doing trueplay How about turning off the trueplay and just choosing the best eq that sounds to me. Although I really enjoy the details and clarity the true play bring

I have redeemed the discount on my Gen 1 Play 5 (although my new purchase hasn’t arrived yet). Is there any reason not to sell my gen 1 Play 5?

Will the new Sonos Radio (stations) work utilizing Bluetooth on Sonos Move (and your phones cellular data), or do you need to be connected to wifi?

After a full charge, paired phone with blutooth, returned to wifi; turned unit off just to test on/off function and couldn’t get it to turn back on.My wife held the power button for approx. 20 seconds and it returned to life; she said she had had a similar problem with her Oasis tablet…..unsettling to have a brand new product perform like that… In any case, try the press and hold option if speaker won’t power up.. Disappointed so far;  have 7 other Sonos speakers with no problems..

In February 2018 I bought a Sonos Play:5 latest version. Today I decided to buy a second one to create a stereo couple and discovered it is replaced by the new five.  Device design is different, so difficult for me to put two “different” objects side by side but, much more important, they are not compatible! This means I should buy two new five! On Sonos site they claim their products are made to stay for many years, that their systems will be upgradable with new Sonos products. This is not true, and for sure I will never by a Sonos product again. My experience with their products is over.  Sonos, probably a company with a short life, like their products. 

The Bose is smaller and significantly lighter than the Move. It seems the Move have a little bit more bass.  What is your opinion about these 2 speakers?

When looking at the inventory in my Sonos account I see “modern product” listed. Does this mean these Sonos components are newer and will not be part of the phase out of older products in May 2020?

I was trying to preorder the Arc soundbar and sub utilizing the first responder deal currently ongoing.  It shows PayPal as a payment option in cart but only credit card is available when in checkout. I was trying to use PayPal to take advantage of interest free payment.  Is this not an option for preorders?

I would like to occasionally use my Sonos One speaker outside adjacent to the hot tub to play music and use Alexa for turning some lights on/off etc. and wondered if there was a suitable outdoor enclosure to offer some protection against the elements? I don't want to keep it outside 24/7/365 but mainly for when the hot tub is being used so it doesn't have to be fully waterproof. It might be good to leave it in the enclosure for some days or maybe even a week at a time but for most of its life I would unplug it and take it in the house so it doesn't have to be a permanent fixture. I am based in the UK so shouldn't be subject to extremes of weather either. Any ideas of something suitable I could use please? Thanks & kind regards, -=Glyn=-

I’m currently planning to buy a pair of Sonos Play 5 2nd gen to replace my current Play 5s gen 1. But I’m concerned that there will be a new Sonos Play 5 3rd gen or Sonos Five. My guess is that the Sonos Five would be release next year because Sonos release the 1st gen in 2009 and 2nd gen in 2015, that would be 6 years apart. So from 6 years form 2015 would be around 2021. I’m just worried that the Play 5 2nd gen would only support for 5 years. Any thoughts would be appreciated 

Am I right in understanding it that the Trade Up Policy has changed so that you can keep using your ‘unsupported’ speakers for as long as you want post ‘trading up’?

Has the Play:5 been discontinued? Or just unavailable due to virus related economic disruptions?

Hi All, I have just purchased a new sub and paired it with my beam. Sound is fantastic! However, the sub has a subtle burning electical smell… It is not overpowering and there is no smoke or heat, but it is still noticable after a few days of use. Is this anyone else's expereince? If the smell persists, I may need to take it back for a replacement.  Cheers.

Hi    Like everyone else I am spending more time at home. Currently I have two play one speakers in the kitchen in stereo. I am pleased! However - the kitchen is next to the garden and I am contemplating getting a Sonos move. It makes sense to have the move in the kitchen next to the garden.    While the stereo separation is pleasant my main ‘want’ is room filling sound for the kitchen. I’ll move the Ones to my office and the play 5 to my bedroom. And then have one move in the kitchen.    So - how good and how much oomph will I get out of one move vs two play one speakers?   Or I could just get another play 5 and ‘crank it’ it in the kitchen if I want to listen outside.    Thank you!  

When my perfectly fine Play 5 gets bricked, will it still function as a "dumb" speaker?

Does anybody know when the Play 5 will be back in stock and if Covid 19 has  impacted production and the supply chain?
