Hello, I am a premium subscriber of both Spotify and Musixmatch.. I have 2 ways to decide what to play on my Sonos speakers. 1) I can use the Sonos controller App (iOS or MacOS) 2) I can use the Spotify app (iOS or MacOS) through Spotify Connect This scenario works very fine: a) start Musixmatch app on MacOS or iOS b) start Spotify on iOS or MacOS c) play a song and using Spotify Connect instruct the Sonos speaker to take over the song d) Lyrics shows nicely on Musixmatch app on MacOS and iOS This scenario fails: a) start Musixmatch app on MacOS or iOS b) start Sonos controller on iOS or MacOS c) play a spotify song and using Sonos controller. d) Neither the Musixmatch MacOS or iOS reacts to the song being played. Anybody have the same setup that can confirm the problem? Any idea who should address the problem? Sonos Spotify Musixmatch? Regards
Hey guys, Got a huge dilemma over here lol. I'm totally for the Sonos Playbase but today, I brought my wife to check it out and we checked the Yamaha YSP-2700 as well. That was really good as well - especially since it came with a subwoofer and it was spewing out 7.1 sound. It sports all the latest connections as well - HDMI ARC, you name it. However, one thing that Sonos does extremely well, in my opinion, is how stereo separation works. Wife says that it's a better bang for the buck with the Yamaha since we're getting a whole load of features and I understand what she means. The Sonos Beam could be an option too! Which one should I get guys? TV: LG C7 which wouldn't have trouble with either of them. Room: Apartment Living Room which isn't too big. Multi-room potential: Definitely yes. So ease of setting that up and using it would be great.
I have 4 Zoneplayer Zp100's, one connected to the router by ethernet cable, a playbar and a room with two PLAY:5's. The audio can drop out once in a while in the PLAY"5 room and it is also the weakest wifi area of my house. Could a BOOST be strategically placed somewhere between the rooter and the room in question to enhance the SONOS connectivity there or was it designed only to be an device to connect directly to a router?
In my never ending search for 5.1 while watching my DTS DVS’s (I can’t stream UHD from Netflix etc as there is no fibre in my area) I have purchased an Xbox One S. Will that work out or the box or will I have to use an Optical splitter. I have a Porta SPDIF/Toslink Audio Switch: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01A89OEUY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but as a audio moron, which is why I purchased a Playbase (mistake) I need help to set it up. If I need to use the switch, what do I plug into what? I.E. optical cable from TV to ?, Optical cable from Playbase to what? Etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thank guys and dolls.
How will I combine Sky Q, Samsung UE40MU6120 and Sonos Beam? As I understand it I will connect the Beam to my tv via the HDMI ARC port and then I will have to connect my Sky Q mini box to my tv via a separate HDMI port. Will I get the full quality of sound through the Beam or will it be downgraded after being passed through the tv? Also at present in another room my Sky Q remote can change the volume of the TV being output through a Sonos Playbar - will I be able to do the same in this room and pair my Sky remote with the Beam? Thanks
The Sonos speakers should be able to function like a bluetooth speaker bar (I would have paid more for built-in BT if necessary for it) to allow playing audio wirelessly from a phone, tablet, or computer. For example, if I'm watching Netflix or Hulu or a local video file or playing a game, the sound should transmit over WiFi (or BT if it can't be done with WiFi for latency reasons) to allow it to be heard on the speaker(s). I have a ~$40 portable speaker that can do this, so why can't this $500 speaker do it?? I like the Sonos speaker, but I'm regretting purchasing it and will not be buying any more, when I can get a whole lot more functionality out of other options. It can't do the one thing I bought it for.
My play 1 has worked moving it from room to room for two years. Now it will only connect via Ethernet. Nothing has changed and all other devices are fine.
Today a read an article (https://www.ncsc.nl/actueel/nieuwsberichten/iot-botnets-veroorzakers-nieuwste-ddos-aanvallen.html for those able to read dutch) in which the dutch Nationaal Cyber Security Center (NCSC) is taken steps to track down security issue's of home used Internet of things devices. So my question is wether Sonos will step up to the plate. Far as I know the only counter-measure in getting access to any Sonos product is the locally used WiFi SSID-name / password.
The latest update work like crap. Please fix it!
Hi there - Moving to a new home which has a big open living room/kitchen with vaulted ceilings. I currently have 2 Play1's in my small home but want to give the system a bit of an upgrade now that i'll have more space. Would you recommend adding a sub paired with the play 1's or add a play 5 with the two 1's? Thanks!
It used to be you could open the sonos app and use your volume hard buttons to control volume. This now seems to be disabled and you can only do it with the GUI slider. I hope that's not a permanent change? The hard button control is hands down the easiest way to control you system volume without having to use two hands and stare at the screen. In my sonos system sales I'm always showing people the hard button volume and everyone loves it. Please bring it back!!!! Ok. So I just tested further. It looks like ver 4.3 on iPhone 5 the hard buttons still work. Ver 4.3 on iPhone 5s the buttons are not working. Will test iphone when I get home.
Hello, I have a Playbar (and Sonos One w/ Sub) connected to a Samsung 82" TV (UN82MU8000FXZC) via HDMI. I went through the pairing process, but for some reason can only control the volume if I press the "AUX" button on my Joey remote. Then, I have to switch back to "SAT" in order to control the channels/guide. Is there a way to control the volume without having to toggle between AUX and SAT on the Joey remote? Thanks, -Sean
I tried to search the community, but was not finding anything. My boss and I both have Sonos Play:1 speakers. Mine is not Alexa/Echo enabled, and I am not sure if hers is. She just sent me a message that my music (Sonos streaming radio) is playing through her speaker and she can't get her own items to play. How do I either 1) completely disconnect and just take the speaker home, or 2) figure out how to allow us to have independent streams? Thanks!
I guess this has come up before but when I find an album I want to add I have to put it into play mode then I can "save" and edit the album or add the artist name so far so good, how can I do this without having to put into play mode? If i am listening to music and want to add albums I cant without playing them. Yes I can add playlist but that creates a new playlist each time I just want a each album listed individual. Hope this makes sense.
Quick question about HDMI arc. Will this play the audio out from other devices plugged into the tv? Cheers
For reference, I use Google Music... Quick question: when I'm viewing a playlist (so in a specific playlist, not just viewing all of my playlists), to the upper right I get the three dot menu option that allows me to "play now", "play next", "add to end of queue", etc. I get six useful options. If I'm in a genre, and view a specific genre, and click that same menu option, all I get is the option to "Add to My Sonos." It doesn't allow me to add songs to a queue or to create quick and easy playlists. Why not give that same functionality that I get from my playlists view to genres, artists, etc.? Is this simply an oversight that can be corrected?
I currently have my outdoor speakers (Yamaha NS-AW592, 6 ohm 50-150W) connected to a Pioneer receiver (VSX-D811, 100W per channel) - to which I have connected a Sonos5. This works OK for me but as I want to use that Sonos5 elsewhere as well, I constantly have to move it around and plug in and out of the receiver. So, I am leaning towards a more permanent setup for my outdoor speakers in combination with Sonos. One option is to use a Connect, and hook that up to my receiver - which I assume will essentially be the same as what I get now through my Sonos5 setup (?) Other option is to forget about the receiver (which I only use to get input from Sonos) altogether and go for the Connect:Amp. Benefit would be that I no longer need to have an additional piece of equipment and would provide imho easier usability. Downside is the extra cost, and also concerned if the AMP will produce same sound quality and volume levels of output as the Pioneer receiver now does. Any advice on whether
I’m intending to purchase a Beam, a Sub and a Play:5 to try and cover a variety of audio needs in my living room and adjoining outdoor terrace. Would it be trivial to switch between the use cases below (like just selecting pre-configured pairings from a drop down menu) or would it involve lots of button-pressing and re-calibrations... 1) Beam and Sub playing TV content, Play:5 silent 2) Play:5 and Sub playing Spotify etc, Beam silent 3) Play:5 moved out to the terrace playing Spotify, Sub and Beam remain silent indoors 4) All 3 Sonos speakers playing Spotify at the same time 5) All 3 Sonos speakers playing TV content at the same time Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Basically title? I can pick up Play 1's for 149 a piece so thats kinda tempting or would the smart thing be to just grab the newer sonos ones? My thoughts are beam would give the play 1's airplay 2 functionality? Sonos Guru's help me!
Hi everyone Will i be able to connect my sonos system to a LG PF 1000U projector?
I got to spend about 15 minutes playing around with a Beam today in the Sonos Berlin store and overall I was a bit underwhelmed. I listened to the Beam inside an enclosed demo room within the store. The following are my rambling thoughts on the Beam: -As assumed, the playbase and playbar outperform it in bass and sound stage and are overall just better. I was hoping that the Beam would be closer to their performance but based on its size (it's pretty small) and fewer speakers/drivers this was wishful thinking. -The Beam by itself seems like it would be a good bedroom soundbar but it might not be that great for a main entertainment setup. -I would say a pair of One's or a single Play 5 sound better (a lot better?) than the Beam by itself for music. -When demoing the Beam with the sub and surrounds the performance of the overall system was much more impressive so it might make sense to use a Beam in a 5.1 setup rather than a base or bar, and the quality might be similar wi
Hi all: I have a large house and my TV is set up in the farthest room from the wifi router so the signal there is spotty. I have the TV connected directly to my cable modem via an ethernet cable. We use SONOS Play 1's in the rest of the house, and I would like to add a Playbar and two Play 1's for surround sound for the TV. My question is, can I use an ethernet switch to connect the Playbar using the existing ethernet cable connected to the TV, or do I need to run a separate ethernet cable to the cable modem just for the Playbar? Thanks in advance for any thoughts. T
Imagine Sonos listened and designed a product ‘just for you’. Imagine that there were no resource or prioritisation issues. Just for a moment. Ignore that there may be othernoptions out there already. You simply want a Sonos ‘one’. End of. What new device or service would you like to add to your Sonos system? My starter for 10. A HDMI connect or centre speaker type device that would allow the use of dedicated L/R speakers for wider separation and better (subjective I know) sound than a playbar provides. The ability to play high res codecs would be a bonus and even more so Atmos (ignore technical issues with speaker placement). Basically something like the Heos AVR or what many speculated the beam was going to be (updated Playbar) but on steroids. No agenda behind the question other than curious what other would like the system to be able to do. Given the cost of the Playbar, I’d happily pay north of that for such a device. Second on the list would be an ‘upscale’ Play
I read somewhere that you can play your vinyl records over the sonos system, where can I learn how to do that.
Hi all, My Playbar has developed a high-pitched noise that is extremely annoying and basically means that we can't use it anymore. The Playbar is 2.5 years old and has not been used for a few months. When I plugged it back in again, the noise started. I have heard others on the Forum have also suffered from the same issue. I contacted Sonos who asked me to do a factory reset (didn't resolve the issue). They have now sent me a link to replace the unit. The problem is I have to pay £199 as it is out of warranty. Whilst I accept it is out of warranty, I would just like to say how disappointed I am with Sonos. Having paid £600 for this unit - it is one of the most expensive in the range, and I am very surprised that such a high-end device has gone wrong so soon. It is obviously a common fault judging by the number of faults reported on this forum. If anyone from Sonos is listening, perhaps you could take this feedback into consideration....
