Hi, I am renovating the living room and I want to install a Sonos system for music only. I checked the forum and found a lot of similar question but I didn't found one considering a pair of P5 vs four P1 for music only. The room is about 75 sqft (25 meter square). I am hesistating between installing a pair of Play 5 on the wall or to have a set of four Play 1 on each wall. Do you guys have any recommandations for the best audio experience ? (if relevant: the wall on the top and on the right are actually windows and the one at the bottom give access to the hall way and the kitchen) Thanks for your help!
Hello, I'm very interested in the new Sonos Beam as I've read some excellent reviews. My room is roughly 5 metres (16 feet) square. Obviously, we sit reasonable close to our 47" TV. Will the Beam have enough audio power to be effective? I know this is a very new product but Sonos doesn't appear to provide power figures. Can anyone help? Many thanks!
Interested in purchasing the Playbar for my television (Samsung - UN55F7050AF), which is currently wall mounted on a swivel arm, Full-Motion Articulating TV Wall Mount Bracket - TVs 32in to 55in (https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=109&cp_id=10828&cs_id=1082821&p_id=10467&seq=1&format=2). Considering the TV is already wall mounted and rather large (55"), I do not feel like taking it down, removing the mounts to add the spacers for the Sanus Playbar TV Mount. I cannot mount the Playbar on the wall beneath the TV as the TV is mounted in a corner space (hence, why it is on a swivel arm). This may be stupid, but before proceeding I am thinking one of the following methods may work: 1/ Use 3M Extreme Mounting Tape (supports 30lbs) across the length of the Playbar and attach to bottom of TV. I think this may work for the short-term, but the Playbar may fall. 2/ Combine option #1 by using zip-ties or a velcro strap (not sure how this will work as I don' have the Playbar for inspec
I just installed a new router in my home that uses the same SSID and password as my previous router. I thought that the change would be seamless, but I discovered after some reading that each of the Sonos devices needs to be rebooted in order to establish a new IP address. Fine enough. Even after rebooting, my app doesn't find any of the speakers.. In my research to fix the problem, I keep getting referred to this webpage: https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1072/kw/router/session/L3RpbWUvMTM1MDU3MjgzMC9zaWQvaHRFOHMxOWw%3D?_ga=1.215131415.1661518574.1477007588 On this page, in Step 4, it suggests that I need to go to Settings | Advanced Settings | Wireless Setup, but I can't find this anywhere! When I open up the app, I just see a page that says "Sorry, we can't connect to Sonos". I click on "This isn't working" at the bottom, and it gives me options to call support, connect with the Community, or check out Common Fixes. There are More Options at the
Can someone please illustrate - or explain - more clearly/specifically how one would go about actually WIRING together several impedance matching volume control units connected to one zoneplayer? I've seen the wiring schematics for connecting 4 speakers to a ZP (without any volume controls), and I've seen the links for various impedance matching volume controls (IMVCs), but I can't seem to find a detailed explanation of how one would actually CONNECT 2-3 different IMVCs, from beginning to end. Any clarification/help/links appreciated!
I am on the brink of entering the Sonos world. Looking to start with a couple Sonos Ones but would also like to Sonos-ify my existing 5.1 receiver which my TV outputs sound to via optical cable. I have considered replacing my existing 5.1 receiver and speakers with Sonos alternatives but it seems like an expensive option. So my current plan is to get a Sonos Connect and have both that and the TV outputting to the Sony 5.1 receiver via optical cables. I'm hoping to use some kind of mixing/auto-switching optical Y connector to achieve this. My primary aim is to be able to play from the same Sonos sources throughout the house. I don't want to play TV stuff throughout the house. Does this sound like a sensible plan? I have read quite a lot in forums, but still am not entirely sure. Also, the Connect seems to be about 6 years old now. Might there be a new version around the corner? Cheers
Hi does anyone know how much it would cost to repair a CR200 controller screen as mine doesn't work at the bottom?
What's the ideal height from the floor for Beam placement? My 65" TV sits on a stand 18" off the floor; so the Beam will likewise be at 18" - just below knee level when I'm sitting on sofa. I'm thinking about mounting the Beam on wall that's about 6" behind TV. The beam would then be 60" from floor. I have 8' ceilings. I'd rather not mount TV to wall. But the Beam on wall is doable. Objective is to maximize sound quality for film and music listening. Grateful for feedback.
Delighted to see AirPlay 2 support annouced. However, bubble well and truely burst by twitter support confirming it only works on newest devices - the play5 gen 2, and play base. Can this be explained further, is it : (i) Only new devices will support AirPlay 2. So if I have 6 Sonos speakers, 2 of which are play5:gen2, only those 2 will show as airplay speakers? Or (ii) You need at least one compatible device in your ecosystem, which acts as a bridge for older devices. So in scenario above, as at least one play5:gen2 is in the mix, all speakers are available. I am crossing everything that it is (ii)... or there will be a lot of very unhappy people!
The Beam (new soundbar announced today) is like the little brother to the Playbar, with HDMI ARC instead and less drivers. But in my opinion, It can be more than just a basic bedroom soundbar. I think it could well be the core of what could be an extremely amazing, great sounding, modular and versatile true smart home theatre system. Why? The ability to add two more Sonos Play speakers as front channel LR and make the Beam a centre channel speaker. Need I say more? How amazing would that be? It can be a true 5.1 or 3.1 setup with HDMI support for Dolby DTS and more. Sonos are targeting the mid-range smart speakers on the market. And I think they've done a great job. But what really earns Sonos the money and is a key selling point for many is being able to expand the Sonos ecosystem in a modular fashion. What most people do with their typical Samsung or other branded soundbar is upgrade it - replace the entire thing. With Sonos, there could be no need to upgrade the Beam
i love listening to music while taking shower...please can you sell a waterproof PLAY1 speaker??
Ever since the last update I cannot play song from my Synology DS214 anymore. My both Play:1 can find the source, select the title but plays the track in short sequences. I can see the timeline moving forward (0:05...0:24...) but you will only hear the song parts of a second then silence. Also I get the errors 1001, 1002..or network speed not sufficient. TuneIn works flawlessly, also Amazon Music and Apple Music. In addition, removing and adding the Library from my Synology didn't help. The Indexing now has been going on for tow days now (25GB of Music).
Just purchased (2) Play 5's for stereo pair. Received two different hardware versions 1.13.1.8-1 and 1.13.1.7-1. They came in different looking boxes as well. They seem to sound and work fine. Just curious about different hardware versions.
I want to be able to choose which speakers housemates/guests have access to. Right now we have a handful of Sonos speakers scattered throughout the house, but we also have speakers in our Bedroom that I (and my wife) want to solely have access to. Is there a way that we can hide these Bedroom speakers so that only we can access these. Also, is there a way we can set "Admin" rights so that we can control the other speaker units and potentially lock or limit the loudness of these speakers at certain times. For example someone trying to use the SONOS system at 3am on a weekday and accidently blasts at full volume throughout the whole house (including our Bedroom Speakers). Any insight from users or the SONOS team would be great.
Can I duplicate the Soundbar TV soundtrack on the Play 5's rather than just background noise? Also, can I play the Soundbar TV sound track on the Play 5's without the soundbar?
Got my Playbar and noticed that there is no optical "door" on the back. I asked the seller about it, the sell told me "As a matter of fact, all NEW Sonos shipments that are shipped after August 1st directly from Sonos no longer has a "door" on the optical. Sonos has had a lot of service request because the "door" is stuck inside the connector, blocking the optical cable fro transmitting signal into the soundbar properly. Therefore, Sonos has decided to remove all the doors completely to avoid customers forcing the cable in improperly. " Is it true?
Any plans to produce a smaller, less expensive sub for use with Beam in a bedroom configuration?
Hi Sonos, Any plans to expand sonos with Samsung smartthings. I can stream content form my android phone to my sonos speaker using the smartthing app. This kinda of a work around for friends that visit, and want to stream music to my sonos. Will there be more options in the future?
How can I access the port to remove a toy my daughter placed in the port? It is wedged in there. It is a lego brands toy girl that fits perfectly snug. There is very little play and they angle creates a challenge removing
Thank you in advance. I am beginner at best for going into deep technical aspects of a set up, so please more step-step instructions are better. My current system is a Netgear Docsis 3.1 CM1000, and an ORBI 3000 (1 bottom level, 1 satellite on second floor). All systems have been rebooted and all software/firmware is up to date. I recently purchased 2 play:1s to become familiar prior to my Sonos beam/sub and TV being installed next week. As I've seen others on this forum run into issues with ORBI, as soon as I begin to use ANY other device on my network, everything shuts down. I do not know how to run diagnostics or assign independent IP adresses or anything like that so I;ll need some help! Please help, thanks!
Hi guys, in a few weeks we will be moving to our new built apartment. In the living room and open kitchen the electrician has built in 2 wall sockets high in the corner of the two connecting rooms in order to have 2 Sonos One speakers on wall mounts. As we already have a Sonos Play 5 (1st gen) I would like to pair the 2 Sonos One speakers (not yet bought) to the Play 5 speaker. Will this work? And if so, is the combined speakerset strong enough to cover both rooms? (I also have a Sonos Play 3 but ideally I am gonna use this one in another room).
Let's ignore the fact that Play:1, like all Sonos products, is not designed or rated for outdoor use. Let's just assume that I am going to usually keep the product indoors, except on nice days, but that when I have a nice day, maybe I want some music in the backyard, and maybe I want it for a small party (up to 25 people). My question is, does a single Play:1 have enough power to be useful in a backyard setting? The dimensions of the backyard are around 25' across and around 60' deep, but the sound doesn't need to reach all the way to the back - I'd be happy if people could comfortably hear it only as far as 30' away. If a single Play:1 won't get the job done, what's the cheapest Sonos product(s) I need (from a cost perspective, ignoring the benefits of true stereo sound) to do it? Thanks!
I want a bar/pub jukebox feel for my home and want to link my sonos speakers to it. Anyone have a home jukebox software that would work with sonos? I want a simple jukebox software/ app for party guests so they don't have to go with features like: party-mode (only music jukebox view-able, can't access rest of computer with out password) easy music select buttons (like a restaurant, pub jukebox) Add song to queue by selecting a song. When nothing in selected song queue to play then play a master playlist. etc...
I will have 2 semi connected rooms to spread music through. If room 1 includes 6 Sonos 1's and 2 8 Ohm wired speakers, and room 2 contained 4 8 Ohm wired speakers it seems that I would also purchase 2 Connect Amps (for the 6 wired speakers. I am trying to envision how the volume control would be handled through the app. The music source would always be the same in both rooms, but at times I "may": 1) need the volume of room 1 different from room 2. I think that is done by "grouping" or assigning "rooms" (2) which may give me 2 volume slider bars??? 2) I am curious if I would be able to adjust the volume of either individual speakers or pairs of speakers? I would imagine so at least with the most basic setups, but I don't know if throwing in the wired speakers and 2 groups or rooms limits my volume control options (for question 1 and/or 2). thanks, without ever using the system it is difficult for me to envision the functionality.
I have x4 sonos play 1 + sonos play bar. I would like connect chromecast to my panasonic projector for image and for the sound use sonos speakers. Is it possible?
