Hi .. Im a very new to Sonos and this is gonna be my first Sonos speaker. By goin thru other threads I understand now play 5 gives a better sound clarity than the beam. But however want to know whether play 5 gen 2 will give a better or same sound quality when connected with audio out aux on tv. I really like the play 5 sound clarity and just trying to understand will it not dissapoint me when connected to tv. Or is it better to get the beam and connect with the tv optical digital audio out. The sound will be better and can customize thru the app for good base ? Kindly advise. Thanks. Oh and I want this to my living room. This is a mini size 1 bed room apartment.
Hi. I have posted this on the Sony forums already but thought would post here also if others have the same issue or have found a work around. Was very excited when my new Sonos Beam sound bar arrived but am disappointed with how it performs with my Sony 49XE9005. The lip sync is way out and I can’t find a way to fix it.The sound bar is connected via HDMI-ARC, the preferred method of connection. Having looked at the Sonos community forums it would seem to be an issue with some sets that struggle to output high quality video and sound at the same time. This tv is by no means entry level and was purchased less than a year ago so to say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I’m hoping that Sony can release an update to help deal with this problem as I know that I am not alone. David
I now dread upgrades. This time, like MOST SONOS UPGRADES in the last few years, After applying an upgrade I seem to have to manually reboot every single device and also reboot my wi-fi router and boost. WHY ? What is causing this? Network Matrix shows GREENS everywhere. Half my ZP's are ethernet linked. Hald on wi-f- + boost which likely isnt needed but... Never used to be this way. Shoudln't be this way. After the iphone and playbar upgrade -- all other zones were there. But choose one to play.. ....it starts.. then bombs. Then its gone from the ROOMS list. Then iPhone App cannot find Sonos. THis is 30 minutes or more after the upgrade.successful meesage. . Eventually the APp connects and now the zones are still gone. 7 zones are now down to 2 on my iPhone App. Then 3 more appear.. then they drop. Ludicrous. Its going to take me a while but I'm now actively looking into Bluesound as an alternative. Seems to have the same capabilities. SONOS - pull your
Being able to add channels and playlists to My Sonos is great. No being able to add individual "line in" items is terrible. I shouldn't have to browse through three screens everytime I want to play my TV through the system. I've checked both my android app and the PC app. It doesn't seem to be available as an option on either.
So Alexa and Cortana are now starting to integrate https://www.theverge.com/2018/8/15/17691920/microsoft-amazon-alexa-cortana-integration-preview-features It's very early in the integration, but you can now 'Open Cortana' from a Echo device. I tried it on my Show and it works fairly well. It's an odd experience though, as it's like my echo now has a split personality. And I honestly can't quite grasp where this is a benefit to me, but it's got me wanting to explore what features Cortana has. And of course, this is not available (yet?) on the Sonos One or Beam, as it's not available on any 3rd party alexa devices. Without knowing the tech or licensing required in these, hard to know that it can be easily done. The other side of this is that you can now 'Open Alexa' from a Cortana device, or at least a windows 10 PC. Eventually, it should be available on windows phones, a Cortana app, or xbox as well. I didn't think to test this last night, but in theory you should be a
Today we had Sky Q installed along with mini TV box in the kitchen (and wireless sky broadband booster hardwired back to the main Q Hub in the study). The Sonos controller works fine when next to the main Hub and Sonos Bridge in the study - all speakers in the house can be controlled and new music selected. As soon as you leave this room and the wifi signal drops, re-connecting to either the signal provided by the Q box in the lounge or booster in the kitchen (all same network name), all control of the sonos is lost. The music continues to play and volume can be adjusted but you can not stop or play new tracks. Connection to "my music" is also lost, tracks and albums just show up as greyed out discs. If I then walk back into the study and it picks the main hub signal up again, everything springs back to life. Prior to Sky Q, I was using two additional TP-Link Wireless N Access Points to provide wifi coverage throughout the house (the sonos worked fine with this system). Each
I'm wondering what the ideal placement for the surround speakers are. I have a Sonos Beam, a Sub and two Play:1 on speaker stands. Right now they are placed just behind the sofa, but maybe I rather should place them by the windows (about 2 metres further back), se pictures. What do you think? I listen more to music than i watch TV/movies.
Would you please create a portable travel speaker (like the cool new Bose Soundlink Mini or Jambox or Beats Pill) with Bluetooth and also links with your WiFi setup at home? I only use a travel speaker 3 times a year, so it would be great if I could also use it in my Sonos setup at home.
My sub is 1 month old and making started making craking noises
Hi, I have a playbar, a sub, and a One. They all work ok with my Panasonic 4K TV every time I use Netflix, TV Aerial, Iplayer and all the Apps, but they don't work when I connect my mobile or tablet to TV. (Screen Mirroring). May someone help me please? I don't want to waste money in getting a Chromecast! Thanks in advance.
Just got a Beam and am frustrated. I have it hooked up to my TV via ARC, but when I tried to play Jurassic Park on Netflix, no sound came through. On some channels, movies, etc the sound works fine. I went to my Vizio P75 sound settings, and there is a "digital audio out" menu. My choices are Auto, Bitstream, Dolby D, and Pcm. The only selection that will send Jurassic Park through my Sonos is PCM. That does me no good, because I have surround sound. What do I do? And also, why wouldn't "auto" automatically select a format that plays correctly?
Having been forced to use the App Version 9.0.1 on Android 5 when the controllers were no longer supported since April this year; Grrrrrr!!!!, I now find that since the last update a couple of days ago the app keeps crashing. I have an Asus tablet devoted to Sonos. Nothing else running on it. Rebooted several times. reinstalled Sonos App. Have reported this with the details many times in the last 24 hours. I have had to put the App on my phone now, and even that has crashed. That is running LineageOS 15.1 (open source android). As a result my system is almost unusable. Anyone else having problems?
It's annoying enough to have nagware pop up 'DO YOU WANT TO UPGRADE' every time I pull up an app, then tell me I need to create an account. No, I want to listen to my music, I don't want to upgrade. I also do not want to be forced to create an online account to get the functionality I've had for years with my Sonos Connects. In addition to nagware, the recent app upgrades for my android devices leave the controller hanging often. This am it took 4 app restarts across 2 devices(Galaxy S7, Galaxy Tab S2) to get a functioning sonos app, which after I hit play, subsequently froze. Requests: Turn off the nagware, 'click here for other options' how about you go back to just pulling up the controls? No one started the app for the opportunity of upgrading things. Think of this another way, how would you like your TV to pop up 'YOU NEED NEW FIRMWARE' every time you turned it on, then made you create an account at samsung/sony/whatnot before you could watch a program?
I'm trying to setup a Denon DP-300F turntable on my existing Sonos system. I have it connected to the Sonos Connect (the Denon says it has a built-in phono preamp) and the Connect is recognized by my app as being part of my system. However, there's no sound coming out of any of my speakers (I have a half dozen speaks around the house and have tried them all). I have also tried different Line-In Source Levels with no effect. And yes, I've triple checked all the cables. What's interesting is that when I start the turntable (it's automatic), there tiny equalizer bars for the turntable+speaker pairing in the app are active, but no sound. I know I'm probably missing something basic, but I can't figure out what.
Hi I have 4 Proficient R800S Outdoor Speakers that I want to place around my outdoor space and run the speaker wire back into the garage. I have a couple play 1's inside the home already. I want to be able to play music via the Sonos app using the outdoor speakers. Would I need to buy two Sonos Connect:Amps or a Sonos compatible receiver + Sonos Connect? Which is the better system here?
ii. I have been using the URC Two Way Module with URC's Total control Accelerator software on Apple mini iPads to access Sonos Connect. It no longer works. I noticed mention of the problem on your site due to a firmware update. Has URC updated the module to work with your new firmware; if not, when can we expect a fix?
My new Beam often does not register my TV (Sony Bravia KDL-48R510C) when plugged in via the HDMI-ARC. In my second HDMI port, I have an Fosmon HDMI Switch with my cable box, apple tv, & more. I can usually get it working on either the cable or apple tv, but when I try to switch over, it does not register. Any ideas? Is it the switch, something else?
The Sonos Controller is unable to connect to the Music Library if the Samba Server is on Linux
I just opened and set up my play 1's with a beam and I'm hearing a cracking noise from the speakers. I've submitted a diagnostic with the ref number 1404600394
I have just bought a new amp and wanted to use it with connect. I wanted it to do two things. 1) Play sonos through my hi fi. This works fine. 2) Play my vinyl through the amp and the other Sonos speakers. I cannot manage to do this. My Sonos app recognises that there is a line in but does not put any sound out. Sonos say it is not the Connect as I managed to play my phone through the line in. I have an Arcam SA10 amp. Any ideas? Sonos tell me that I need to troubleshoot with Arcam.
Have a Panasonic TC-P50ST30 that apparently only passes the 5.1 signal unmolested from the internal tuner on the TV. Devices connected via HDMI to the TV set are downgraded to 2 channel when output from the TV's optical. Any workarounds besides a new TV others have found? Live with the 2 channel input to the PlayBase? "*When audio from other equipment connected to this unit via HDMI is output using “DIGITAL AUDIO OUT” of this unit, the system switches to 2CH audio."
I am the happy owner of a Play:1, that I have in a bathroom. Now I know how good Sonos sound, I want to get a HIFI sound in my living room (4x5 meters). I used to listen soul, R&B, classical (Opera specially) and sometimes pop-rock. I listen to music in low volumes. I have ordered a pair of Play:1, a pair of Play:3 and a Sub to do some test but, I can´t take a decision. I tried following configurations: * 1 Play5 * 2 Play3 * 2 Play1+Sub * 2 Play3+Sub First of all, I tried the Play5. IMPO, it only sounds really good at medium-high volume. This is too loud for me and my neighbours... (I didn´t try the Play 5 + Sub) After that I try the pair of Play3+Sub and the sound was marbelous. Then, I chaged the Sub to be with the Play1 pair and compared the Play3s vs the Play1s+Sub. For me, there is differences but I can´t really said what is the best option. It is difficult to compare the Play3+Sub vs Play1+Sub, because I have to configurate the sistem again if I change th
Can a Boost do the same job as Bridge ??? Lots of skipping issues and need t get it sorted fast !! so considering the Boost. The 120 euros is a small price to pay if I can get reliable tunes tomorrow.
We recently made a Play:3 our first Sonos purchase, and I like it. A lot. The fact that my wife can use the app without me having to help is a massive plus as well! But, the room we put it in is a large one, and my original plan was to pair a couple of 3's eventually. But after listening to a Play:5 I've ordered one to test that out - I think two in that room would be overkill, but I'll be really interested to see how it plays out vs a Play:3 pair in stereo.
My mother loves her Sonos. especially now audible works on it, but I have to operate her controller app to play tracks for her as she is disabled. She can only manage very simple apps on her ipad. Ideally I would like a playlist to start or stop with simple click of an ipad desktop icon. Is there anything out there to do this? if not does Sonos expose an API which would allow me or some keen script kid to do this?
