This seems like a no brainer to me. DJ Apps on the iPad are great, but sound output is limited, you have to be cabled. I Believe if this was a reality i would have already bought 2 more play 5 to replace my wired amp & speaker set up. Streaming the output from these apps to a multi room event would be a match made in heaven, its what Sonos set out to do isnt it? Then think of the commercial application, bars, clubs, open ipad night... THATS A FREEBIE BUT IM AVAILABLE FOR CONSULTATION 😉 Thank you & please support this idea. Matt ...and why not any laptop app come to mention, Logic, gargeband, reason, ableton etc etc - This could be big.
I have 3 Sonos Connect Amp (bedrooms) and 1 connect (living room tv) and I would like to get AirPlay 2 capabilities. One option is to get a Sonos one and group with the zone that I want to get AP2. Other option is to get an AirPort Express that now can also do Airplay 2. I don’t really need another speaker (the Sonos one), so I am confused on what would be the pros and cons on each option. For example if I get the airport would I be able to stream to different zones each time or just one that is preconfigured. How does it work with the Sonos one? What about Siri capabilities?
Does the Sonos beam come with a remote control?
I recently bought sonos beam but it is not working with hdmi or optical cable have tried both can't see a hdmi arc output just a Dvi output Music works fine but not the TV I have a sky box
New feature request. Would be nice addition to the alarms function if instead of just being able to have grouped rooms included in the alarm, being able to select which rooms to group for the alarm. In my scenario, I have certain rooms that are grouped at night for a bedtime alarm that begins a certain playlist. In the morning, I would like to have an alarm that plays a morning playlist in a list of grouped rooms that are not necessarily the same as the bedtime alarm. Now those rooms have to be already grouped in order for an alarm to work. I want to be able to specify which rooms should be grouped when the alarm is executed, even if they are not currently grouped.
I have a standard 5.1 in my living room (playbar, sub, and 2 play 1’s) and they’ve always dropped in and out. Here’s my diagnostic: 352610924. What should I do?
Trying to set up Beam and Samsung MU6179 What I have done so far: - activated Anynet+ on Samsung - Samsung recognizes Beam - using ARC HDMI entrance Problem is while using the app to connect to Anynet+
My Playbar 5.1 system has developed a strange issue where every so often the audio through the optical sounds distorted. It is like it is crackling. I have only noticed it with Dolby content and it is very distracting in movies. I have bought 2 new optical cables to try and they have the same issue also. I have also isolated both my Cable Box directly into the Playbar with the same issue and an Apple TV 4K via my TV with the same issue. I have therefore isolated the issue to the Playbar. I reset my whole system to factory settings including sub and rear speakers and it is still having the issue. Anyone from Sonos know what could be happening? Network interference should not be affecting the sound via optical surely? Especially considering music playback is fine?
I have the beam connected to the hdmi arc. When I play videos games the volume can be at 25ish and sounds great. But when watching tv the volume has to be around 90% to be normal volume and I can’t turn the volume higher.
I know that there are a lot of threads already dealing the Playbar DTS issue. The easiest way to deal with it seems to be using the PS3 as BD player. However I found different suggestions about the settings, especially regarding the audio output settings whether to select just Dolby Digital and unselect everything else or to select also the PCM options. These are so far the most mentioned settings I found in the forum: Video Settings -> BD Audio Output Format -> Optical Digital -> Bitstream (Mix) Sound Settings -> Audio Output Settings -> Optical Output -> Only Chose "Dolby Digital 5.1" or Chose DD and PCM Audio Multi-Output -> off Anybody with ulterior suggestions or further insights about the best setup for the PS3 using the Playbar + SUB + 2 Play 1s or 3s?
I've been using my connect along with a turntable on the line-in for years, but recently switched out to a new Denon AVR (AVRX3500H). I have the Connect wired via Toslink to the AVR Media Player input and the pre-out on the AVR to the "input" on the Connect. Same wiring scheme I had with my old AVR, which worked flawlessly by the way. The issue is that every time I open the Sonos App and try to play from a music service like Spotify for example, it starts to play briefly, but then automatically switches to line-in as the source and the music stops. I can hit play again and it finally starts playing and continues, but as soon as I try to switch tracks or change the source it happens again. I've tried changing the auto-play groupings as well as the line-level impedance, but no luck. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Everything is up to date and I've tried searching through the forums and via Google with no luck finding users with a similar issue. Any thoughts or advice here is grea
After reading various threads about surround sound I decided to see if my LG tv was giving my sound bar 5.1 sound. You probably all know the answer it was NO it was only giving me stereo sound So I then set out today to make sure I got 5.1 Dolby Surround sound. I purchased a HDMI splitter from HDMI to optical and after a bit of messing and swapping and changing cables and a few choice words I actually got my playbar to show audio in as 5.1 Dolby digital wow what a difference I had no idea I was not getting 5.1 surround Sonos have never made it obvious to simple people like me that just putting an optical cable from tv to soundbar won’t give u 5.1 surround sound so at a cost of 2.5k for sound bar sub and 2 play 5s and I was not getting the 5.1 Sonos advertise as having the equipment will give u 5.1 surround sound it does not this should be reported as false advertising here in the U.K. Why are you advertising that having the equipment will give you 5.1surround sound when
Hi, I was just wondering if it would be safe to set the 'Line In source level' to 10 with an iPhone connected and turning it up to fairly high volumes. Would this damage the speaker? The speaker I would be using is a Sonos Play 5 1st gen. Thanks
Hey there, does Sonos have any kind of (non-physical) theft protection? Since I registered all my speakers with my Sonos account, this could be possible. Are there any plans for this? I'm thinking of something like the activation lock that Apple provides for their devices (see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201365)? Kind regards, Klaas.
Here's the issue. I have none of these ports. just hdmi. I need them for the sonos beam I just bought. I search for televisions with optical outputs but they are too expensive with my 100 - 200 dollar price range. hdmi arc I seem to be unable to use because all my media is streamed through fire tv and I dont think I could have these two hdmi devices on at the same time. so I have to settle for optical then and forgo some functionality ? I would settle for less functionality if the sound is still good. or is it possible to have both fire tv and sonos beam at the same time even though both require hdmi ports ? do you guys have any suggestions ?
Hi there! Sonos newbie with a problem here :) I got a Play:3 less than a week ago and instantly got hooked, so I went out and got myself a beam, sub and two Play:1s for my TV. I hooked them up yesterday, getting the sub up and running took a few tries but it worked fine all yesterday evening. So far, so good. When I woke up today only the beam connected to my TV worked. Even my kitchen's Play:3 had disappeared. Went online in search of a solution and tried a few things: 1) Removing the sub and surround speakers from the living room zone in the Sonos app. 2) Re-adding the sub and surround speakers to the living room zone. The speakers didn't "pop up" immediately when pushing the connect button like yesterday, instead the app was just searching for them for a long time until giving up and asking me to check if it was connected to the power outlet. 3) Connecting the Beam to the router via ethernet cable 4) Changing wireless channel (tried all three) 5) Disconnecting th
Me and my girlfriend just bought our first apartment. It's not very big (59 square meters), but we want to buy a Sonos system for it. The picture doesn't reflect how we're furnishing it, but it won't be far off. I'm currently thinking a Sonos Beam for our TV. We also want to set it up for surround, and as far as I've understood we should just go for two play:1s over two ones? Long term we might want the subwoofer as well, but won't get it straight away. Good plan? The kitchen and living room are open, so do I need another speaker for the kitchen? Is it an idea to add one speaker to the kitchen as well for music, or is it unnecessary with the Beam and the play:1s in the living room? We also want one in the bathroom. Is the One (or play:1?) the best option here as the bathroom is quite small? We're not sure on the bedroom either. It's very small and close to the living room, so I guess it's a play an One here as well. What would you recommend for this apartment?
I have a sonos 5.1 setup (plabar, 2x play 1 and sub) in the TV room and it sounds amazing. I got the sub last week and can't believe how good it is! I have an appleTV 4K connected via HDMI to my LG TV (42LM620T-ZE) then to the to the playbar via optical. This works fine (I have selected dolby 5.1 as the appleTV output, and on the TV have selected the "sound output" as AUTO rather than PCM to ensure the TV passes through the DD 5.1 signal). My old blu ray player (Toshiba BDX4350KB) will output dolby 5.1 when there is a dolby soundtrack on the blu ray or DVD, and again this plays fine with my setup. I can see on the app that the playbar is receiving DD 5.1. The problem occurs when the blu ray or DVD has a DTS soundtrack, in which case the blu ray player outputs a stereo signal instead. I realise that this is because the playbar cannot decode DTS. So I purchased a new blu ray player (2nd hand, £30 from eBay) Samsung BD-H5500 as, after researching it, I was led to believe that th
Hi, I don't have any Sonos products yet but am mulling my options. I have a an open plan living/dining/kitchen room that is 8m long and 6m deep. It is all shiny tiles and hard surfaces with a long sliding glass door from wall to wall at the living room end (see attached for layout). I don't have a stereo at the moment. For those familiar with the Sonos products, what Sonos products would you buy for this room if you were in my shoes? Would you buy 1x Sonos Five; or 2x Sonos 1; or 2x Sonos Five or some other combination? Where would you place the products? I spend my time on the couch or cooking at the kitchen and rarely at the dining table. Would two Sonos One products either side of the TV console be the best bet? I should mention that I am only interested in sound quality for music, as I am not so interested in sound quality for movies and TV watching. I listen to folky sort of music (e.g. Bon Iver), blues, and classical. Thank you very much in advance!
Hi Guys, a recent Sonos update seems to have stopped one of our Android tablets from running. I have factory reset the tablet and re-installed the Sonos App but it still doesn't. Any ideas how to get it working again? Many thanks!
Hello everybody. It's Giulio from Italy, and I'm glad for having just joined this great community. I'm planning to move shortly to a new apartment I bought some time ago and that I've just finished of restoring internally. Now, with some patience and without the urgency of buying all the pieces in a single time for $ reasons, I'm planning to setup a Sonos system in my future living room. To sum up my needs/intentions: - Things I've got at the moment: a Rega Planar turntable, a huge amount of vinyls to play with, and a brand new 4K tv. - Things I would like to do: play music from my turntable, and enjoying the sound of my TV as well (obviously not at the same time :D), streaming the sound wirelessly with a Sonos setup. - At the moment, I have also a couple of analogue speakers and a Rotel amplifier, but my plans are to move them somewhere else, in another room so to speak and don't consider them in the turntable play rig for now. - Turntable and TV will be located in the
Hi I seem to have to constantly update the various controllers that we have in our house (which is a little frustrating), but now I find that all my playlists and 'Sonos favourites' are missing. Please can you tell me how to restore these. Thanks.
Hi guys, Would appreciate advice on how best to setup. I have a new Samsung TV wherein Sonos Beam is connected via HDMI-ARC and built-in room speakers that are plugged to Sonos-Connect. Issue: Built-in room speakers Sonos Connect is set as Fixed for Line-Out level. When I play Pandora via Sonos Beam Alexa app, it plays it too loud on room speakers. Then when I turn off Alexa streaming and watch TV with Sonos Beam, the sound coming from the builin room speakers (via Sonos Connect) is so weak that I have to manually increase the volume on the built-in room speaker control pad. Also, why can't Sonos Beam lower the volume on Sonos Connect room speakers simultaneously when you say "Alexa" so that Alexa can listen properly on the voice command?
I am looking to purchase the sub to complete my current living room sonos setup, which currently comprises of a playbase with two ones as surrounds. I don’t really want to place the sub at the side of the tv unit though, so was looking to place it horizontally in either of the two locations drawn on the photo. I am concerned though If this placement would give the benefit the sub undoubtedly adds?? Any advice welcome before I drop another £700 ?
Anyone else thinking up of a bunch of uses of a smaller, less-expensive Sub? Especially zones with in-ceiling speakers or a modest Playbar setup. Nothing drastically different on overall design, just smaller and costing $500...
