I just purchased an LG OLED B8 (OLED55B8PUA) and a Sonos Playbar. I’ve had a Sonos Play:1 for over a year and was excited to add an additional Sonos item. I’d done extensive research about TV and Soundbar selection and went with the Playbar over the beam because of the superior audio quality in a large room. After installing everything - including mounting the Playbar to a brick wall - I discover during setup that I won’t be able to use my LG remote to control the volume... that every volume adjustment will have to be made through the Sonos app. Annoying. Even more annoying to dig through support articles and discover that I could use my LG remote with the Beam. Suggestion - update the comparison matrix to indicate what specific TVs are compatible. If a product isn’t keeping up with the newest TVs - please note that a different product may be more suitable. I could probably have gotten over this if there was any volume to control. All connections are properly connected
I helped a friend set up their system of a Beam in the lounge and a Play 1 with an additional Echo Dot in a bedroom. Initially I had an issue with a Wi-Fi extender, where the Play 1 was connecting to it, but not able to group with the Beam. Turned off the extender and re-connected the Play 1 and grouped as expected. However, the Beam does not auto ungroup when the TV is turned on and you need to select from the App controller. Could it be something to do with the extender which is primarily for other rooms further away from the main router.
I recently purchased both the Sonos Beam and Sub after a lightning strike bricked my old sound system. My TV is an LG OLED55B7A. I have a Roku Premiere+, Nintendo Switch and a PS4 connected. Everything sounded incredible and having Alexa turn my TV off is the greatest thing ever. However, when I replaced my PS4 with a PS4 Pro, I lose sound to everything and the Sonos app is saying Simplink is not detected. This only occurs when the Pro is conntected, even if it's powered off. I haven't adjusted any settings from when it "worked" and have even tried factory rebooting the Beam and Sub.
hey guys, few weeks ago I received an email from yonomi that they revamped the options for controlling sonos stuff, cool! I set it up, but location based action do not produce any effect. Yonomi is set up on my iphone, there are no other devices running yonomi in the house. Let me be more clear. I have a stereo pair of sonos one. The yonomi location routines are the following: 1) WHEN i leave the house, STOP speaker 2) WHEN i arrive, PLAY FAVOURITE playlist I receive a notification for both on my lockscreen, meaning the app understands correctly when I enter or leave the trigger zone. Unfortunately though, the music is not stopped/played accordingly. What is more weird is that when i'm at home and I force the routine, the speaker stops/plays as it should. I'm pretty confused and would like some feedback from whoever is also using yonomi. - ideas for troubleshooting? - what is it that is going wrong? - i read somewhere that i may have to keep a specific device alway
This is hard to explain, but I will try. I have searched to the end of the internet and have not found anyone with our same issues. ;-/ We just purchased the Sonos playbar, two play1's (for rear channels) and the Sonos sub. Configuration: Pioneer Elite VSX-45 (currently set to HDMI Pass-through to TV - does not have an optical out) Pioneer Elite TV 60 inch (only passes DD5.1 through its optical out if using an internal app...everything else goes to stereo, so I need to be able to get the audio to the Playbar a different way) Comcast cable box (optical out direct to Playbar seems to work) LG Blu-Ray player (optical out direct to Playbar works when selecting Dolby Digital DVD track) Roku Premiere+ (no optical output, this has the option to select Dolby Digital as the output, however, no settings have an effect...) I purchased an audio extractor (J-Tech Digital 4K 60HZ HDMI Audio Extractor) to split the audio off of the HDMI and send it to the playbar First...it does n
I've noticed that when casting to my Sonos One via Airplay 2 from my MacBook Pro, I don't have any noticeable delay when playing YouTube or Plex from Chrome, but I do have a delay using other apps such as Plex Media Player or Kodi. What's special about Chrome?
I have a dozen or so Sonos One's... Some paired some singles and a Sub. I run them over the Sonos Boost and finally got them operating trouble free... then last night I get the you may not use some features message (mandatory update essentially). Post that update all my Lutron remotes stopped controlling the Sonos systems. I Rebooted Boost, Sonos devices, Lutron Bridge, had Lutron delete Sonos data so I could re-add. Re-added the remotes. No results. Any ideas?
I have two Play:5's. One connects to my turntable via line-in and the other connects to my TV also via line-in. I need to connect a CD/DVD player to play audio CDs. Right now, I need to turn on the TV in order to do that. Is there a better way of doing this? Would a Connect, Connect:Amp or the upcoming Amp do the job?
I have 4 Sonos Play:1 speakers and a Sonos Boost controller. I also have a Sonos Controller for PC app on my PC. It took me a while to figure out that I cannot create or add songs from my NAS to a Sonos playlist that I created using my PC. After reading many posts on this site explaining how to accomplish this, I realized that the ONLY way to add songs from my NAS device was to do so on my iOS device (iPhone). I really don't understand the reason why. I can place songs in queue from my PC but cannot add songs to a created playlist in Sonos. Is there a good explanation for this, or am I just being anal?
TV: Samsung UN55D7000 (2011 model year) Sonos: Playbar Streaming Stick: Apple TV 4k Hi all - hoping someone can help me with my current situation. We recently cut cable and picked up Apple TV 4k to watch Youtube TV, along with Netflix, and on occasion Amazon Prime. My goal here is to accomplish the best possible sound for my current setup - and assume that's DD 5.1? When we watch Netflix, we can get DD 5.1. However when we stream YouTube TV and Amazon Prime, I only see "Stereo" on the Playbar. Is there a way to get DD 5.1 on these as well? What I've done - in the Samsung TV Audio Settings>SPDIF Ouput>I can only select PCM and Dolby Digital is grayed out. - in the Apple TV settings, I changed the audio setting from Auto to Dolby Digital - Purchased a Monoprice HDX-401TA but had no luck. - currently I have the Samsung TV connected to the Apple TV from the HDMI DVI port. - Sonos Playbar is connected to Samsung TV's optical port. In closing, is there is a spec
Playbar volume control using LG Magic Remote and Sky remote
Hi! If I have set up Sonos Beam and two rear speakers (Play One, Play: 5 or even Connect with third-party speakers) for surround sound, what will reproduce each speaker if I watch stereo movie or youtube video with stereo sound (not 5.1)? Will rear speakers play regular left/right channel and if no is it possible to make them play it?
Hi there. Quick question / UI concern I have in the iOS app - which I otherwise really enjoy. I would like there to be a way to clear the queue without stopping the currently playing song. By entering the now playing queue and pressing the "clear queue" button, the current song is stopped, and the queue is cleared. This ends up being frustrating in practice. A common use case amongst me and my friends is that we want to clear the current queue, without ending the song currently playing - in order to either let the current song finish and then the music to stop - or to clear the queue ready for adding more music after. I think it would be A HUGE IMPROVEMENT if the "clear queue" button would remove all songs AFTER the currently playing song - and then pressing the same button a second time could then stop the currently playing song. Sometimes I queue up many songs, but then want to stop listening after the currently playing one. Say I have 20 songs queued up - the
Does anyone know of any black friday deals coming up on play 1s or 3s? If so where?
I have Play 5 gen 2's in the kitchen and bedroom. When listening to internet radio, favourite stations, it would be good to be able to change favourite stations by swiping the touch buttons on the play 5's. In the same way as changing tracks when listening to albums. More convenient than going to a controller each time.
I'm trying to figure out the smoothest way of integrating my stereo system into a Sonos eco system and the Connect seems like the obvious solution. I also use a optical output from my TV to feed the system audio, so by including a Connect I'll have two optical sources I have to switch between. To avoid manually having to select a source I have found a optical switch with priority on the inputs, which would make the whole process of changing between my TV and the Connect automatic. The only thing that would prevent this from working is if the Connects optical output is always active, or if it takes a long time from turning of the music until it turns of the optical output. To sum it up: Does the Connects optical output switch off automatically? If yes, how long does that take from when you stop playing music?
I have a Beam connected to a Panasonic via HDMI-ARC & Viera Link. Sometimes I want to use just the TV speakers but the the Beam won't relinquish control. I can select TV speakers in Viera Tools and they start up briefly, but then the Beam re-asserts control. I understand that if I've shelled out for a Home Cinema setup, I might be expected to want to use it, but I'd like to have the choice
I have had a playbase for a year and used it in conjunction with two Play 3's and three Play 1's throughout the home, during the week the TV stopped working through it. The TV icon is no longer visible within the app. Today I tried to add the playbase to my sonos again but there is no chime when pressing the join button as done in the original set up, I then searched My Sonos on the app and all speakers were present bar the playbase, when I went upstairs and disconnected the play 1 in bedroom and rechecked the app it was still present bar IP address. I do find the fact that the playbase has no led light to indicate a power supply is present frustrating though the red led in the optical lead is on.
Hi All Moving to a new house which has a downstairs surround system consisting of a Yamaha Amp with 5 indoor speakers (inside surround for projector room) and 2 outdoor speakers on the pool patio. From my understanding, it contains MusicCast and can be separated (ie TV inside and music outside etc). I currently have 2 play 1’s, 1 Play 3, and 1 Play 5. My question is, is there a good way to establish a whole home system with individualized components? My tech guy is rwcommending another Yamaha system on the main level with in wall speakers and Music Cast. My original idea was a Sonos Beam and Sub on main level TV with the two play 1’s as sureound. Using the Play 3 in my bedroom and my play 5 somewhere else. Then buying a connect to control the entire Yamaha system in the media room. I realize I’d lose the ability to control the 5 speakers inside and 2 outside with the connect, but I could do this on the Yamaha amp itself. Does that sound like the best way to contro
Why am I now being forced to create and link a Sonos account to the controller just to be able to add speakers to the system? There is absolutely no reason why this needs to happen. Poor form Sonos. This should be an optional step. As such, I will no longer be buying any more devices.
Grouping to hear tv audio wired to Sonos playbar, to listen in from kitchen on Sonos speaker 1. this worked well for about 6 months and now does not. Sound is fine at tv but no sound in kitchen. Ideas?
My phone app thinks my account is under an old email address. Even when I used the Forgot Password link, it sent the new password to my newer email address. I can login fine on the sonos.com site, so it is a problem with the app. The message says "Sign in with the account used to set up Sonos". How can I fix this?
As per my 8 year old thread - http://forums.sonos.com/showthread.php?t=14604 I would like virtual zones - for example, an upstairs zone or downstairs, or outside so I can quickly get the music I want to the areas I want.
Hi there, my tv is too old to have ARC or optical out so I brought an analog to digital converter and the sound cuts in and out. I tried different sound inputs and get the same issue. Please advise. Cheers
I am in the process of building a new home and would like to utilize the Sonos system throughout my house and need some guidance. The first floor family room, kitchen and dining room is a open concept design so sound will travel. Setup: Home: 6000 sq ft All whole house 16-2 speaker wire will be run to the basement to a central location where I will plan to house most of my audio/video equipment. What type of receiver will I need to run the home? 2 channel with Bluetooth, Airplay, DTS play etc? Besides Spotify and Pandora I cannot think of another source I would like to broadcast throughout the house. Wired in ceiling speakers: 5 sets (mst bedroom, mst bath, outside, screened porch, and kitchen). I would like to utilize the Sonos app through. 4 independent zones since the outdoor speakers and the screened porch will share a zone. If I chose to buy an external amp instead of the Sonos Connect Amp how many watts does each channel need? My reason for asking I am trying to d
