Hello forum, first time post, but searching the forum I haven’t found a good answer yet. We are moving in to a new home with the family room having an open back wall into the kitchen. In our previous home, we had a great rectangular family room that I used an Arc, two Play:1s and sub. In the new family room, lacking a back wall, I’m worried the arc won’t work well. I can certainly reflect surrounds off the walls, but would in ceiling rears (connected via AMP) provide a decent surround effect even with the open back? I suspect not, but wondered if anyone had similar set-ups/experience. thank you!
Hi,I have an Apple TV 4K connected to my TV which is the connected to my Sonos Beam. I then have two Play:1 speakers connected as surrounds. I want to use this setup to listen to Apple Music lossless. My Apple TV is setup to lossless and Dolby Atmos when available. When I play an album from Apple in Atmos it plays across all speakers as full surround. When I select an album that isn’t in Atmos, only the Beam works. Is there any way around this? What I’d like is for the group to behave how it does when I stream Apple Music using the S2 app, which is the surrounds operating as one stereo source and the beam as the other, but in lossless quality.
Is there a scaleable icon for the Sonos Roam when displayed in the file manager of Windows OS.
I have an LG OLED CX TV with a Sonos Arc. I want to stream Atmos TrueHD movies from my PC however some research suggests that I will need an Nvidia Shield to allow lossless TrueHD Atmos. Without an Nvidia Shield the Sonos Arc downsamples the audio stream and removes the Atmos metadata so it becomes regular Dolby Digital 5.1.However the Sonos Arc only has a single HDMI connection and the LG CX only has a single eArc HDMI connection. So... would I get lossless Atmos if I connected the eArc port on the TV to the Sonos Arc and then the Nvidia Shield to a separate HDMI port on the TV?Thank you.
I write to share my solution to enable the Sonos S2 Controller to access my Mac music library; it has been frustrating but I believe the solution is quite simple. First, I have a Mac mini (M1, 2020) running the latest version of macOS Big Sur (version 11.5). My music library is located in the default location. I have the Sonos S2 controller installed on my iPhone. My Sonos system has a Boost, Playbar, Play 1, and Roam. The problem was that my Mac would not allow the Sonos controller to access my music library. To make this work, go to the Apple Menu and click on System Preferences. Then, click on the Sharing folder. Then check File Sharing. Add your Media folder to the Shared folder list. Once you add the folder, you will see several users with privileges listed. Add SonosDMS with Read Only privileges. While you are here, please write down the Computer Name; you will need this information for the final step. Close the folder.Next, click on the Apple Music application. Go to the menu bar
I tried everything, ARC from TV, optical from TV, to using HDMI to optical extractors, Google Chromecast DOES NOT provide Dolby Digital (AC3) 5.1 sound when using Netflix or Prime. Only Dolby Digital Plus that is not supported by Beam.I tried Fire TV stick, and it does work well.I have an old but really good “dumb” TV, and I’m not buying a new one anytime soon.2 conclusions:Beam has a poor codec support, and inability to have HDMI passthrough with DD+ is annoying as hell. eARC is not widespread enough yet. Sonos, please give us HDMI passthrough on HT devices… Don’t make us buy $200 Arcana eARC extractor for the Sonos Arc. Google doesn’t give a [bleeep!] about Dolby Digital (ac3) support. Support forum “volunteers” doesn’t care and give you non-answers. No real support is available. It would be nice if Sonos could talk to Google on implementing transcoding from DD+ to DD. We the normal people can’t get any replies… I’ve pinged Sonos on Twitter about this, no reply.Sonos, can you please
Que se debe activar en la app s” en el apartado “sonido comprimido”?
I just got a Sonos Beam today, with the intention of using it as a speaker for my PC. I plugged it in via the optical cable attachment, plugged in the power cable, but my PC isn’t registering that it’s plugged in. When I hit the test sound button, I hear nothing. To make matters worse, the Sonos app is completely bugging out as well. I connected it and paired the Beam, then it says that there’s a problem and I need to finish setup. But then it says that it can’t locate the Beam, even though it literally just connected to it about 1 minute prior.I’ve tried reinstalling the app and trying over 2 times now, but nothing worked. I tried changing the audio formats on Windows 10 in case the Beam can’t support a specific frequency, but no matter what frequency I choose, it doesn’t play anything.
My Roam that died about 1 ½ weeks ago and I immediately tried to reset/reboot by using troubleshooting steps on the Sonos website with no luck. Then I tried the Sonos chat and, after asking me to try everything I had done before, they told me I had to call Sonos support . After talking to S support at least 7 times over 5 days and having them require me to send a video of the reboot/reset steps I had taken multiple times, they finally sent me a RMA to replace the Roam. To get S to send the replacement before they received the dead Roam, they required me to pay full retail (I got a discount by having an S Connect) which they promised to refund after they received the defective Roam. After having not having the use of the R for so long, the option of waiting for a replacement until they received the dead R was a non starter for me. I received the replacement today and it seems to be performing well. We’ll see how long it takes them to get the refund to me as they received the dead R
Hi!I have Sonos Arc + Sub 3rd Gen. + 2 Symfonisk as surrounds and now trying to buy new 65'' TV that works without issues with Sonos so I need advice what to buy (or what’s works for you for uncompressed Atmos). This is what's important to me:- TV has working/stable eARC, no issues, sound does not cut out etc. when playing uncompressed (TrueHD) Atmos from external source (HDD via TV USB OR HDD via nVidia Shield..., content is 4K TrueHD Atmos)- must be 4K, price around or up to 2600$/EUR- preferably not OLED (afraid of burn-in, I'm using subtitles all the time/alot), but if you know/have that kind of combo and it works ok please do recommend anyway :)- VA panel if possible, good/great contrast and picture quality (good black levels, minimum blooming...)- TV will be used in moderately lit room with some possibility of controlling room lighting- streaming is not important because my internet connection is not so great- only models that can be bought in Europe (or will be available soon)Tha
Not sure if this message board is a good place to give app feedback, but here goes:The Sonos app keeps presenting me the banner “The Sonos S2 app is now available Check Compatibility”.Couldn’t the software automatically determine compatibility without prompting me? I have 3 devices, 2 of which are not compatible with S2, and no amount of prompting me is going to make a difference! Not a big deal but just annoying that it keeps coming back even after I dismiss the message.
Is it possible for me to use the beam as a mirror for for phone and tv to make ex(Netflix / Hulu) pop up on my tv and have the sound go through the beam? Basically is it possible to have the beam act as a screen mirror and not just as a audio mirror ?
The room plays such an important part in the sound. Could Sonos please enable the Trueplay feature or provide a more sophisticated equaliser/dsp on the Sonos Port and Amp? Sonos Port and Amp are priced as Sonos premium products and don’t have this feature yet their cheaper products like the One do.Other companies like Marantz, Lyngdorf, NAD offer room correction for their amps without knowing the speakers so this can’t be the reason for not including it. If Sonos added such a feature to their Port and Amp it would give them a significant competitive advantage compared to more similar priced products. Thanks.
In a 30 minute video Peter Pee over on YouTube compared the iPhone 6,7,11, SE2, 12Pro & 12Mini in a somewhat standardized Trueplay method. The frequency response results are all very different, offering a different sound depending on the device used.I am wondering if some of the newer dialog issues reported by Arc owners could be linked to the device they used during Trueplay. Some users here have reported that turning Trueplay off gives them back some midrange, vocals or brings the Arc back to life. This video could show why that is for some.TL;DR the iPhone SE2 & 12 Mini offer the most desirable Trueplay results. The disappointing 12pro results are shown the 22:00 mark. by showing the frequency response from the Arc by itself, no sub, no surrounds. Before in the grey line, blue being the 12Pro.What device are you using? Let me know how the tuning works out for you. I added this to home theater as this involves the Sonos Arc. Links are in bold. Is iPhone 12 the best Truepla
Apparently my One SL updated to S2 last night, even though I have auto-updates turned off (as I wanted to avoid this happening). I called Sonos support, who informed me, after much troubleshooting including a diagnostic report, etc., that the update was forced through to all SL units. Resetting my unit didn’t help, as this is apparently irreversible even though I didn’t initiate it.As someone who currently relies on a mixed system of old and new speakers using the S1 app, this seems like a really bad customer experience. I was basically told “yes, we did this. No it can’t be reversed. You have to use two apps now”. At least if there had been some notice of this change I wouldn’t have wasted hours troubleshooting and calling support.Anyone else have this happen to their One SL?I’ve been using Sonos heavily for 10+ years and have mostly enjoyed and recommended it often. In fact, I had just ordered a Move and was going to add a few other units (just moved to a bigger place), but am a bit
So it’s a rather new model TV and I just can’t get anything other than stereo I’m using a Sonos Arc, Sonos Amp connected to Sonos ceiling speakers and a Sonos SubI have the TV setting as per the following(Don’t worry about the wires, it’s not finished!)Tried Netflix and SkyTried turning the TV on and off at the mainsTried a full factory reset of the TV
Wondering if I I have a Firestick 4K connected to TV with Sonos Arc, could I play music on the Echo/Alexa everywhere group? Thus using Sonos sound bar like an echo device for multi room music.
Dear Sonos, I love my 5.1 setup, arc, sub and 2 one sl, but there is one key thing I don’t really like at all. That’s the arc music quality. In comparison the ones sound ALOT better. I would absolutely love to be able to turn off the arc when listening to music so it’s just from the ones and sub. Could u please make this option available. I know I can set ones volume up but that’s not good nor will it match with the sub (right?). Many thanks for anyone who can help me get this request to the employees/developers.
By using the magnetic mounting plate, battery life gets reduced for below 24h hours! Simply not using the magnetic plates, battery life comes back to normal… learned this from another community platform and couldnt belive that its true!
I know, another thread started with this topic. BUT…This is a LARGE installation, over 15 Sonos devices, in a very large home installation. On a Unifi Managed network. I know EXACTLY the status of the six WiFI APs that are finely tuned for exact coverage in a intentionally designed network.I can SEE the Sonos devices on the network.I can see 82-99% signal strength of the sonos devices that the controller (and app) can’t see. The Sonos devices fall out of the Sonos network, yet remain on the WiFi network uninterrupted. The EdgeRouter maintains the IP addresses of the missing Sonos units. The MANAGED network works flawlessly for 75+ other devices on it, and SONOS is the only devices that ever have a problem. This forum is full of advice that basically says turn off all the Sonos devices and reboot your network router. This is a ridiculous solution to advise customers to do constantly to resolve issues with your equipment. And for those of us with large Sonos systems, and, as crazy as
I have a Sonos Arc with 5.1 in my living room. I also have one Play:1 in the bedroom and one Play:1 in the bathroom. I like to have them all grouped when watching TV. The only thing what is a bit annoying is that when I change the volume with the TV remote only the Arc gets louder/softer. The other grouped speakers don't change. It happens all to often that I decrease the volume on the TV and the sound comes from bedroom and bathroom what is not what I want and it sounds strange. Is there a possibility to synchronise the volume changes for the entire group when using the TV remote? I know it works when using the app.
Please consider adding a feature to the 'About my system' in the Controller a count of tracks can be displayed and a used vs. remaining capacity % could be displayed.1. This would allow Sonos owners to manage their own libraries2. reduce cost for Sonos in removing unnecessary traffic to Support for such a trivial request allowing them to focus on more serious support issues 3. Remove the time and inconvenience for Sonos owners having to contact Sonos Support for a trivial request
Seven months after purchasing a Sonos ARC and two Symphonisk rear speakers, I was very annoyed by the impossibility of easily activating or deactivating the rear speakers as needed. We're not going to lie to each other, but :Touch the gear icon Go to System Choose Sonos Arc group Then Audio Surround Toggle On or Off Surrounds optionis not really what i call ergonomic. But with the iOS Soro application, what was very painful on a daily use, now becomes super simple. Thanks to the integration of these functions in iOs Shortcuts app, I can finally activate or deactivate my rear speakers with a simple tap when watching a movie or listening music .I just think it’s a shame that it is an external developer who offers this solution when Sonos should have already allowed it.
It looks like the Sonos Beam is now supporting Dolby Digital Plus or EAC3 now. Can any else confirm?
I’ve seen a few questions here about how to stream MLB audio from the At Bat app to Sonos. I recall that a few years ago there used to be an Air Play icon right in the app that you could use to easily stream to Sonos. But that no longer exists in the MLB app. So here is how you can do it in 2021.Open the app on your phone and start playing audio for a game Swipe up on your iPhone, this brings up the Control Center The Control Center should show a section that displays the currently playing audio From this section you will see an Air Play icon Click on Air Play and you should see your Sonos as an option (as long as it is a somewhat modern Sonos that supports Air Play)
