Hi,I'm wondering if anyone has solved the issue of playing DTS-X 4k blu ray discs on Xbox Series X with a Sonos Arc plugged in e-arc to an LG C9 oled tv?I tried to watch Tenet tonight and the menus played sound but the film didn’t have anything. I checked the discs audio setting and there is only English or English audio description (which did play sound). I’ve tried changing my Xbox sound settings but nothing was working. My TV sound settings are set to auto and it still doesn’t work as originally it was set to pass through. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I do have a way that works great so far:Extract cover art (.jpg) from music file, import in any paint program, save as .tiff, load .tiff and save again as .jpg.Had something to do with Density Unit IIRC, forgot what exactly. But why is this work around needed? I need to do that for at least the last year, regardless if I buy old or new songs. I don’t think this is a Sonos issue, as I need to do the same for my Sony (digital) Walkman.Anyone has a solution or suggestion?
Hi everyone, I’m considering buying a Sonos One, but before I want to be sure that I would be able to use it without any issues. I would like to control it using the cast feature of Google. I saw on the internet that I can embed the Sonos One in the Google Home app, will it mean that the cast feature will work ? Here is a screenshot of the cast feature. I’m not talking about using the Chromecast (with android TV and the HDMI Port), but only the cast feature to use deezer without the sonos app. Cast from deezerI hope you can help me with my question, and I hope that some of you found a way to use the cast feature !Thanks in advance,
Preliminary notes: These instructions have been tested with a Mac mini with macOS version Monterey, an Apple Music library of 25k tracks, a Synology NAS with DSM 7.0.1 and a Sonos Controller for Mac Version 13.4.1. Before starting the process make sure you have access to the NAS drive with sufficient access rights granted to the account (e.g. read/write to the music shared folder). To mitigate security issues for the music folders on the NAS you can create an account for the Sonos Controller with read access only. Feel free to follow these steps at your own risk.Step 1: setup the Apple Music Library on the NASWhen you open Apple Music with the Option key on the keyboard pressed you can choose to create a new Library. Create a new Folder on the Synology NAS, under the music shared folder, to create the Apple Music Library (e.g. MyMusic). Check in the Preferences the Files tab for Music Media location so that the directory path points to the NAS. Keep the Music Media folder organised and
I’m having 4 sonos sonance ceiling speakers installed in my living on the Sonos amp and gen 3 sub? Can I also add an arc and they all play together? I assume so. Thanks
My backyard garage is 75% dedicated to my gym, 25% to chillin, tv and music for the backyard. 400sqft. 50” samsung tv and currently using a Bose solo 5 for the tv and sound touch 20 for music. Not bad but want more. I want a fuller Basier sound that fully integrates for both movies, and music, and Alexa. What should I do? Willing to spend up to 2K
My Beam Gen 2 does not show up in device list on Sony Xh90 (vh1) TV - therefore the Beam can not be controlled via the remote, nor does it turn on/off the TV.Beam connected to eARC with the HDMI cable provided with the Beam. Both TV and the Beam have been reset to factory default, Bravia Sync enabled.

How does TV dialogue work with ceiling speakers acting as surround? Hello,we are looking to install a Sonos Arc in our living room, which has an open floor plan that includes the kitchen and dining area. When in the kitchen watching TV, it would be nice to hear what’s on (you can still see the TV from the kitchen) without blasting the volume from basically across the house. We’d like to install two Sonos ceiling speakers in the kitchen and have a Sonos Amp powering them. Ideally, the amp would be in the attic above the kitchen, powering the ceiling speakers and connect wirelessly to the Sonos Arc which is connected to the TV in the living room. But it’s my understanding the Amp would just play the surround speakers fed by the Arc. If we’re wanting to hear what’s happening on the TV (i.e. dialogue), would that work? Or would we just be hearing “rear speaker” surround sounds like a train approaching? If so, what would be a solution to hear the same front speaker dialogue from the TV in
Is there any news on Sonos getting an intercom function, to communicate speaker to speaker? I am torn between buying studio echo vs another S1....
Hi Sonos team,This has been requested before, but after extensive reading in the fora I could not find a solution or an answer from Sonos about prioritisation of this issue. Can you please provide an option to disable audio-delay (latency) when a line-in device is used on a single Sonos speaker setup? In an older conversation all kind of ideas were proposed by the community. There were a couple of things people agreed on:Many people are bothered that a minimal 75 ms latency is enforced. And they would be very happy if Sonos could give an option to disable the 70ms latency. Two use-cases where people encounter the latency-problem: Creative music production (keyboard, dj-mixer) Audio video where the Sonos is used for audio and a laptop/television as screen (for movie watching or video calls). In a setup with 1 Sonos speaker and a line-in device as audio-source, the 70ms latency seems artificial and not dictated by technical limitations (i.e. buffering with multiple wireless Sonos speaker
We just bought a house. We have an arc, move and multiple ones through the house that work great with the sonos app (I use apple music through the app to play music). We have an outdoor area that has mulitple speakers that came with the house and a receiver that’s super old (no blue tooth, etc). We can turn on the reciever and play radio stations through the outdoor speakers, they work! :-) If we want to leverage the existing outdoor speakers - can we buy a sonos reciever - Port or Amp? and use that to connect the non-sonos speakers? The receiver today is outdoors under a tiki roof -- not protected super well from elements. if we spend the money for the port or amp - will it allow to control/coordiante all speakers/sound? Is there a cheaper option to accomplish full connection with a unit that is less expensive since it will be outside? Thanks!!!!
Hi,I’m new to the Sonos game and have a question about the Sonos AMP.I currently have:pair of Sonos Ones TV with an HDMI-ARC port Turntable connected to a kenwood amplifier with line out pair of 8ohm passive speakersWhat I would like to do is use a Sonos AMP to:connect TV to HDMI-ARC port connect passive 8ohm speakers to sonos amp to be used as FRONT surround speakers use pair of sonos ones to be REAR surround speakers connect line out from turntable to line in on sonos amp maybe add a 3rd party powered sub to the sonos amp later still be able to use airplay 2 to send music to the sonos systemDo you have confirmation that this configuration will work? Can it all stay in surround mode (with the sonos amp as the FRONT speakers and sonos ones as the rear surround speakers)? Will I be able to switch between TV HDMI-ARC connection and sonos amp line in connection either by auto detection or through the sonos app? Thanks for your help! Rock on!
I finish builded beam gen2 + sub gen3+ pair of One SL system before this Chrismas for my home theater. This system works great and i really love it. I really love listen music with this system, and it makes me want to sing. I expect that my own voice comes out from sonos sound system. to enchance this home theater system to a karaoke system too.I made my research and there are some difficults, first of all, Most of smart TVs Can install Karaoke apps and bluetooth connection, but Microphone can not be just connect and use. second, sonos system need HDMI eARC for dolby atmos, ,and most TV can not output 2 audio at same time, and Beam and Arc dont have extra port for connection.Third, most of the mixer on the market dont have HDMI eARC pass through or the whole setup become a nightmare of cables.I hope sonos can make a mixer with dolby atmos pass through to enchance the connection of sonos system plus a pair of karaoke microphone. with its nice design and wifi system intergrated.Maybe this
Building a new house and need recommendation on how to set up and wire the house: Requirements: Have four zones Kitchen Living Room Patio Den / Bonus Room Using Siri and Apple devices (iPhone, HomePod voice commands, etc) to play music in select zones “Hey Siri, play 90s Alternative in Living Room” “in all rooms” Control the volume of the music from Siri and Apple devices for the zones. The Living Room will have a TV with Apple TV. Need an option to play audio from Living Room TV to the Zones (at least to living room zone) The Den zone will also have a TV for movie watching. Would like 5.1 audio in that space that can play audio from TV (movies) and also receive music through the rest of the system (Siri, Apple music, etc.) Wiring Kitchen - two ceiling speakers Living Room Two (or four?) ceiling speakers, Conduit from the fireplace (TV mounted over the fireplace) to built-ins Tube from built-in to media rack (basement) Pati
Hi everyone, hope I’m posting in the right place.I have a Beam in my living room, I use it as a regular playbar for TV, shows, movies and so on, but also for listening to the music. In this latter task, it’s not bad for its size and features, but it is not satisfactory for me, especially in the bass realm.I know the simplest thing woud be to add a Sub, but I’m not that enthusiastic. The room is not very big, I care about my relationship with neighbours and… well, it does cost a lot. I can’t but think “Is it worth it?” (please note: for me… personal thoughts and tastes!) So I visited the shop where I purchased the Beam, and the owner kindly allowed me to make some tests:Single Sonos One Beam Couple Ones Beam + Couple Ones Options #2, #3, #4 with Sub Play 5My original idea was to get 2x Ones (SL) and group them with the Beam, hoping they would provide more depth and improve the situation. I think a couple Ones is actually better for music than the Beam, but I wouldn’t call this a game cha
just set up the Sonos 5 speaker. Our existing turntable and Optimus amp work just fine on our old speaker. We wanted to upgrade to the Sonos 5… but when hooked up, there is a terrible low hum that gets louder with volume increase and is persistent when the record is finished or in-between songs when there is no sound. the grounding wire is fine and like I say, does NOT have the buzz with the older speakers. So what are we doing wrong? Or is our system no compatible with the Sonos 5? We do NOT get the buzz with any of the other features, meaning the streaming music, etc. Only when using the record player. If we can’t fix I guess we just go back to the old speakers because that hum is giving us a headache.
I’ve just purchased a port (upgrade to a connect) 3 weeks ago. Upgraded to S2. So I now have an S2 system with the port and S1 system with the connect. I continue to find the sound from the connect to be clearer than the port using Qubuz? I would have thought the port, with its improved operating system would have added more clarity, separation, etc.. Any thoughts? thanks..
I listen to BBC Radio 4 every morning on my Sonos system. It's my alarm clock. This morning there is a short audio insert just before each hour telling me that the service will be stopping on March 22nd 2021 and that I should contact my service provider to ask them how I can continue to access the BBC content.I'm not in the UK, so the TuneIn service is still available (until now). What are the options for me to still receive my daily dose of British content over my Sonos system?iPhone related options are not applicable in this house.
HelloI want to buy a record player for my partner to connect with his sonos one speaker and soundbar. I am looking to buy the Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB Turntable. Do I need to purchase just the sonos port or do I need an amp as well to connect the record player to the speakers.I was going to buy the Pro ject T1 sonos edition turntable which I believe you only need a sonos port for it to work, however they have sold out. So now a little confused as to what I need exactly for the turntable non sonos editition.Thankyou for any advice..
As a record and turntable enthusiast, it would be nice to have the Sonos app detect a record is playing and automatically populate the app with the track listing and times. I know, I know, I can walk over and read the record, but we’re talking cool internetty tricks, right? This would be one of those. Thanks, Joe
Just set up Beam 2nd Gen. Sound is poor when watching TV via Sky. However, sound is great when streaming - Netflix etc., and when listening to music services. Sony TV, Sky+ box. I’d appreciate any thoughts as to possible fix. TIA.
As reported in many other topics apparently it's still necessary to use SMB1 for playing music from a Synology Diskstation system? It's now 2021 and I just had to change the settings on my diskstation to allow the unsecure SMB1 in order to be able to add a shared folder to my Sonos music library.Sonos seems to be closing all topics on this forum about this subject for further comments, but is not addressing the problem?
I have a Samsung TV model: UN50RU7100FThe link to its specifications: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/d26a1815In expert settings there is a Dolby Atmos Compatibility setting that one can turn on (which I have). I’m trying to figure out if I’m truly getting Dolby Atmos when playing Dolby Atmos movies through HBO Max. It says Dolby Atmos on the S2 app. I wasn't sure if my TV is allowing sound to go through it but not as true Dolby Atmos. I've done all the true toning, standing at different distances from the Arc, played with height volume, during big Atmos scenes but just not feeling submersed in the sound. I had another thread I started but this is more geared towards Samsung TV limitations. Not sure if I'm bypassing tv’s max capability or if it's minimizing the true Dolby Atmos. The S2 app says Dolby Atmos being played but I’m having a hard time believing it!
Hi folks,Apologies I advance if this has been asked before!I’m looking at upgrading my TV and adding a Sonos Arc to my setup. I’m keen to get Dolby Atmos up and running with the sub and two Ones in the rear. The piece I’m a little confused about is the number of eArc ports I will need on the TV.I understand that I’ll need a TV that supports eArc and that I’ll have to connect the Arc to the TV via an eArc enabled HDMI port. That piece is clear. But if I want to play Atmos content from my Apple TV 4K, do I also have to connect the Apple TV to the TV via a port that supports eArc?I ask this as many TVs I’m looking at only have one eArc enabled HDMI port. It’s not until you get into high end TVs you see multiple eArc HDMI ports! Thanks in advance,Chris
