Hi, earlier in the year I bought a Sonos PlayBar to go with my new new Panasonic TV. I was thinking of adding a couple of Play:1's as rear speakers but have a couple of questions. My PlayBar is connected to the router via Ethernet cable and to the TV using the optical connection. - The manual for the TV states the optical connection supports Dolby Digital so will the Play:1's work properly in that setup? - The I am assuming that the Play:1's will connect fine to the network, i.e. I do not need any additional kit like the CONNECT. I may get a SUB at a latter date but my lounge is not massive so I am not sure I need the SUB right now. Thanks Andy

On MAC desktop, playing music from Pandora or Amazon (haven't tried other sources) when new tune starts playing a popup with artist and tune name info appears on top of whatever else am working on. It is distracting and often annoying when am doing work. Is there a way to disable or stop this from happening? If not, hope Sonos will consider building-in that option. thanks-

I use my AV Reciever as a switch for all my devices (computer, Satellite, Cable TV, etc) and it is connected to the TV. Since yesterday I had a couple of speakers connected to the AV reciever. I want to get the sound of the different HDMI components to listent through the connect and the others sonos speakers. So far I only could do it using the Phones connection, using a jack/RCA cable, but it generate interferences and stop every now and then. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have been using my three Sonos Play:1s quite happily now for well over a year, but now I have bought a new Play:1 and when trying to add it, I'm told "Your Sonos controller must be updated before you can add and set up Sonos products". I recall getting an email saying that the latest version of the Sonos Controller would not be compatible with Windows XP, which I'm still using on the machine where the Sonos controller is used. Does this mean that I will be forced to update to a version of the controller that is not compatible with my OS, thus rendering my entire system unusable? Before anyone says it, I am not interested in updating to a newer version of Windows at the moment. It's an enormous amount of work and there is no compelling reason for it. The OS is just background infrastructure in my view, not a toy. It should be meddled with as little as possible.

Hello, Is there a way to automatically clear the queue when you start to play a new song or a new album? I don't always want Sonos to continue playing when my new selected songs or album is finished playing. I thin it would be a great feature.

I bought sonos so I could set it up with my turntables and mixer system, doing away with my wired speakers and offering more flexibility. So far though I haven't had any joy in getting this correct. I did phone in a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't hear back. I have two technics 1210's connected to an Allen and Heath mixer which is then connected to a Cambridge Audio amp, which was then connected to two speakers. I have a Sonos Bridge, Sonos Connect and a play 5. If someone can help with instructions/diagrams on how this should be set up I would be delighted.

In a certain iTunes artist folder, I've got 16 albums, all imported from CDs. 3 were brought in as MP4, the rest WAV. Sonos "sees" the 3 MP4 albums, but not the WAV albums. Any ideas?

I plan on mounting a TV in the open space family area, I already have two in-ceiling speakers that I would like to work in conjunction with the TV. I would also like to purchase the following: - Sonos Playbar that would be mounted below the TV on-wall - Sonos Sub is on the floor to the right of the TV - Use the 2 in-ceiling speakers For all of this to work together, I believe the following setup is needed. - Sonos playbar would need a CAT5 cable to connect directly to a Sonos Connect Amp - Sonos playbar would also have the optical connection to the TV - 2 in-ceiling speakers run speaker wire directly to the Sonos Connect Amp In this setup when I turn on my TV will the in-ceiling speakers automatically be used? I am planning on buying a Playbar, Sub and 2 Play:3's, mainly for use as 5.1 hometheatersystem. I also want to connect my Pioneer DDJ-Ergo-K dj-controller, to the SonosNet, in order to be able to hear my mix trough all Sonosspeakers. How can i do this? I already know that Sonos has the Connect and Connect:Amp, which have an analog input that i can use. If this is really the way to do it, do i use the Connect or the Connect:Amp? I do have 1 doubt; i have found on the internet that when i connect a mixer to the Connect (:Amp), there might be a slight delay. (The music in the headphones is not in sync with the music played trough the speakers, which is not acceptable when mixing). If there will be a delay, i could use a receiver: Connecting the Pioneer dj-controller to the analog input of the receiver, then connecting the receiver with HDMI to my tv, which has the Playbar connected on it. Can I use the optical output on my Iinet fetch box as my Sony Bravia tv doesn't have an optical socket. If I get an optical to digital converter what sound quality will the Playbar play?

After the last update my mac computer now shows alerts up in the top right of my screen like the low battery type of alert very time Sirius Radio goes to a commercial on, for example, Fox News. Hi everyone, I'm about to pull the trigger on a pair of Play:5s but I have a question about auxiliary inputs with a stereo pair. Forgive my ignorance, since I'm not an owner yet, but when I set up a stereo pair in the app, is the aux input of one speaker pushed to the paired speaker? I'm asking because what I've read tells me that I need an AirPort Express if I want to actually use the Sonos units with AirPlay, and not via the Sonos app... am I right about that, or wrong about everything? I'd ask in a store, but I don't have a stockist nearby, so I'll be ordering online. Thank you very much for your help.

We currently have a Sonos Connect that is connected to our paging system speakers, we have a couple of areas that don't have speakers setup and we would like to place individual Sonos 1's or the like in these areas, but have them grouped with the current third party speakers. Is this possible with the Connect? I'm not concerned about these new Sonos speakers working with the paging announcements, just whether the Connect can have both third party and Sonos devices controlled through it, playing the same music, at the same time. Hopefully that makes sense. Can anyone confirm this for me before I attempt it?

Hey, I got turned on to Sonos a few years back when I went to a couple of parties and they simply ended up being a Sonos party; you know the ones where you take turns in putting a single song and your life thereafter is judged by everyone on the single song you chose! (I still claim that Starship are an awesome group!) Currently I have a single Play 1 (no idea on what generation) which sits in the dining room and will either play there at parties in the winter or will get moved into the garden (though range is an issue) in the summer. Whilst it is suitable for the smaller rooms I do want to build on it. I also have an older (and at the time expensive) separates AV/HiFI home cinema setup that I do not really use. The general idea was to purchase a Play 3 for the dining/garden rooms (ie for the parties) and another Play 1 and a sub for a 2 x play 1 + Sub. Eventually I would move to a sound bar and then move the play 1's into separate rooms. So my questions are: 1. Will

The 'simple & easy way' highlighted in Sonos official support site is simply not working for me (and I can't really grasp how it could...) https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1072/kw/change%20wifi%20router While connected to the old router/wifi, I've changed the sonos app wifi to new connection and done same to my laptop (I seem to have to be on the old connection, otherwise the setup on sonos app just won't open setting etc). Then unplugged a device, connected the Ethernet cable to the new router and plugged in device. Quickly that device comes up on my sonos app on my laptop. That's where all job stops... In the support page it simply says unplug each device if they don't appear automatically... leave for 10 sec and plug in. However no job - beyond the one connected via Ethernet cable. Hope someone is able to assist...

I have two play ones set up in my office, Just think it would be nice to have an option to set the desktop as an audio source. Desktop audio via DLNA to the play ones as a built in option. Would greatly broaden the usability as then they could play the audio for movies, games, youtube, and well any audio on the desktop at all

I know this is a frequently asked question, so I'd just like to know if Sonos actually listen to their customers? I work in the music industry and have personally experienced the battles that go on with the company Sonos system. Staff turn down music, insert their tracks into a playlist to disrupt an album playback and sometimes disconnect speakers from a party. It's total chaos and frustrating as we need to have the flexibility of having the Sonos on our current network, so can't segment the Sonos system via WiFi to restrict it that way. What we'd ideally like is to have some form of advanced management feature on the Sonos to switch between allowing individual accounts or everyone. I really can't see how difficult it would be to code this kind of restriction, either by MAC address or a "superuser" password on each connected controller if the setting is enabled. On my Sonos 1 there is no 'off' button other than the pause button on top. When not playing does it go into a sleep mode and what is the power consumption when not playing? David Smith.

Is it advantageous to send 5.1 audio to the Playbar when it is on its own and not part of a 5.1 system? Does the Playbar process the 5.1 into a virtual surround sound, like it would with a stereo input, or does it output the 3.0 part of the 5.1 with a mix of the rest, or does it only output the 3.0 part of the 5.1?

Hi, I have read somewhere that if you have a playbar wired to your router it will act in the same way as a bridge. I have both, and both wired to the router direct with Ethernet cables. Do I actually need the bridge?

Hi all I have a Connect that is connected to my HiFi. I also have a variety of 1s and 3s scattered around the house. If I use my Android controller to select radio or music from my library or phone, all speakers seem to play very well, uninterrupted, fairly indefinitely. However, if I try and use the Line-In on the Connect, the whole system drops out. All speakers stop except the Connect and I cannot connect to the Connect (jeez!) with the Sonos Controller on my phone. Eventually, the Connect also stops playing. I then usually need to wait a significant length of time (tens of minutes) before the Connect is accessible again (unless I power cycle it). Is this something that's been seen before? Does it sound like the Connect is faulty? It is about 2 meters away from the wireless router - could it still be network/signal strength issues? Thanks for any advice all, bit disappointing I can't use the Line-In on the Connect - it's one of the reasons I purchased it. BBz
