Bose Discontinuing Soundtouch
Was in BB the other day, checked the Bozo display. Noticed it had been completely updated, yet again. After three... three!!! generations of their miserable Soundtouch multi room system, they’re finally throwing in the towel. It must have been a very expensive mistake. The death is confirmed over on their forum. https://community.bose.com/t5/SoundTouch-Speakers/Deezer-HIF-on-Bose-amp-Bose-is-stopping-soundtouch/m-p/151902#M69961 :D
Where are buzz, ratty, majik...and others of their ilk?
I don't see these unpaid forum stalwarts anymore and I miss their posts. In my early days here, and even later, I learnt a lot from their posts on various issues related to both Sonos and home audio in general. Users and posters of today don't know what they are missing obviously; suffice it to say that they are missing a lot. In places like these, people move on and one loses track of them; wherever they are, here's hoping they are well and thriving in their present pursuits.
Amazon Alexa amplifier, receiver, subwoofer
This is getting very interesting. With the addition of Alexa Cast, which IME works better than Chromecast, and certainly better than AirPlay, Amazon is building quite a system. Obviously they don’t have SonosNet, but with lots of mesh WiFi systems on the market now, they may not need it. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/17/amazon-planning-8-new-alexa-devices-microwave-amplifier.html
The fading promise of Google integrations, considering dumping the Sonos Ones and going back to Play 1's
With the latest Verge interview with Sonos CEO. I am feeling that sonos will fail to deliver on Google integration let alone a google skill this year. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/highlights-from-the-vergecast-interview-with-sonos-ceo-patrick-spence/ar-AAyHq9k So I am considering getting right on my Sonos ones and going back to play 1. It is very disappointing that Sonos has miss the spring time promise. And after reading the interview. Maybe we will see it in 2019. I have lost faith that we will see it in 2018. And now you do not even see google assistance mention in the Beam or the One product page.
The Apple TV is finally getting Dolby Atmos support - Maybe now SONOS will make a stride for it.
Soon on June 6th we will know what is the current SONOS understanding on accepting other codecs. Apple TV has just announced that it will have DOLBY Atmos, since, SONOS said that one of the reasons for them not pursuing DTS + Other codecs was that they weren’t available via streaming and there wasn’t high demand for them. Maybe now that might change. Keeping my hopes up for the event on Wednesday. https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2018/6/4/17413250/apple-tv-update-tvos-dolby-atmos-support-spectrum-wwdc-2018 Apple announced some new features for its Apple TV set-top box during WWDC today. The company is bringing live sports and news to the TV app, along with full Dolby Atmos support coming to the Apple TV 4K. Apple TV 4K is now the first (and only) streaming device to support both Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. iTunes Movies will start offering Dolby Atmos this fall, and just like when Apple started offering 4K videos, any movies you already own will get updated to Atmo
Development of a rechargeable wireless speaker.
I would love to see Sonos develop a wireless rechargeable speaker that can be taken out on a deck where a plugged in version is not an option. This would be great to be able to have a flexible zone that can travel within your Wi-Fi network without being plugged in.
Official Reseller at Czech republic (Central Europe)
Hello, I need to buy new products to my own studio and I need know - who is my actual distributor at Czech Republic. Is it High-End Audio Studio, Belgicka 4, Prague (my first and last), or Ketos (or AV Integra), or someone new whos I don´t know? Thank U for some help.
Arguably one of the best things sonos has going for it is the fact that it integrates so well with so many different music sources. Still listening to all of these sources can make tracking music you like, especially new music hard to follow. Was that song on my apple playlist, was it on spottily? But I mean these are all just playlists, why is there not a basic feature to sync this meta data of the song names across platforms? I mean I know spottily wants to keep its playlists so you keep paying for premium, same with apple etc. But sonos is selling hardware, expensive hardware. While the quality is there, a more fully integrated playlist with options to export the data to a CSV is a really basic thing which would add value.
