Hi, all - Just purchased a Playbar and stupidly assumed that my modern TV had an optical out. Just got my PLAYBASE. Am about to set it up, before I do, can someone front Sonos confirm scratch resistance? My TV is 70lbs (under the 77lbs max) but I definitely don't want a blemish on my brand new Sonos.

What colour did you preorder? How will you be setting it up? Satellites? SUB? What is this replacing, if anything? I ordered: - black - will be running PLAYBASE only - replacing a traditional 5.1 system

Can't get ride of the annoying popup box that says TV is using external speakers

I'm thinking of getting the new PLAYBASE, eventually with 2 x Play:1's for surround sound. But this would be the main source of sound for music in my fairly large living room. (44m2) Will this be enough? I'm used to having two spread apart stand mounted speakers and a sub. My reason for getting this is I want a more minimal and wireless connected set up, I wil have Play:1's or 3's in other rooms too. But will I be happy with the sound in the main room? I guess the other option could be to add 2 x Play:3's as front speakers and use these for music instead of the PLAYBAR, but this wont help with the minimal setup, or budget...

We are using Samsung 4K TV and a sonos playbar. The optical output from the TV is PCM 2.0. Is there a work around for this?

My TV stopped playing through my play bar yesterday. I've tried unplugging TV and soundbar but that didnt work. I have a red light on my optical cable and sound bar works with other sources like radio etc. My diagnostic #7231957 please help!!

Turn on the PS4 and Dolby 5.1 no clicking anything just on straight away! The difference from watching a movie when it wasn't getting passed through to now is remarkable, I thought the system was doing a good job putting the vocals to the front and background noises behind etc but now everything just sounds more clear and goes around the room to make the experience perfect! The TV was a Samsung UE49KU6400 btw in case anyone is interested. I think this is the future, TVs are getting better all the time and hopefully all of them will have this soon - Sonos is possibly just ahead of the time?

Hi experts, help! I've managed to add my connect amp as a rear left and right channel for the playbar surround sound, both wired via a switch. Tv optical out goes to then playbar but I can't get it to play via the rears, whilst music is fine. Does anyone know how to fix - thanks!

Hi, I am in the market for a simple soundbar. After selling my 5.1 home theater system I want to go as simple as possible by just having a soundbar for my TV and the devices connected to the television. I have a Samsung F6470 which is roughly 4 years old. To that I have a PS4 connected for Blu-Rays and Games and a cable box for swiss television both via HDMI and my television can directly access streaming services like Netflix. The television has a optical output which I would use for the connection to the Sonos Playbar/Playbase. Now my questions: If I solely use the Playbar/Playbase as the only speaker in my living room can I run into any trouble for this simple stereo setup? Does a 5.1 HDMI Tosslink passthrough to the Soundbar/Soundbase have any benefit over the TV just passing a simple stereo signal over the optical out? What would happen if I add a Sub to the setup? I've been using my Playbar (as a 5.1 system) for some time now and after the last update (or around that time, I am not totally sure) my IR remote no longer works. I have a Logitech Harmony Elite, where a Panasonic TV set is programmed to raise or lower volume on the Playbar. Now, when setting up the remote in the Sonos app, the volume up button (or any other button) is not recognised. I have factory reset the Playbar and re-added everything but still no luck. Changing the volume when adding the Playbar directly to the Harmony works, but with noticeably more lag and without the white confirmation light blinking. Any ideas or anything I could do to pinpoint the problem?

I would like to know if there's a cure for this problem. On a recently purchased blu Ray disc (Bridge of Spies) the audio is encoded DTS-hd master audio 7.1. My system consist of a playbar, sub, and play 3's as rear speakers. I've tried for hours changing a/v settings in PS3 console to get 5.1 surround to play. My playbar settings either says silence or stereo. Older dvd's encoded DD 5.1 play in 5.1. Netflix movies in 5.1 also play as 5.1. My PS3 system is connected via hdmi to a Visio tv E550i-b2. That same blu ray disc will play in French and Spanish 5.1 and my other option is English 7.1. Bridge of Spies also came with a DVD encoded DD 5.1 and plays as such. Technology gets better everyday and with DTS- HD master audio I'm hoping somebody in the SONOS community can help me.

I would like to know the advantages of Sound Bar vs. Sound Base. To me they seem similar and would like to know the differences.

What does the Playbar do if it receives 5.1 Dolby Digital signal (via the optical connection) and there are no other speakers in the Sonos system, other than one SUB? I am curious. Playbar sounds fine when given either "surround" or "stereo" signal.

After the release in April we'll see just how the Playbase aligns with different TVs, but until then, has anyone seen any product shots of the Playbase with a TV that has outer stands? I can only find ones with a central stand.

I recently purchased a Visio M550SV television. I have set the audio through the Optical Out to Dolby Digital and connected to the PlayBar via an Optical cable (of course {GRIN}). Every few minutes, I experience a brief dropout of the audio while watching TV. Any ideas?

Hi! I have read a lot here in the forum that Sonos does not support DTS or Dolby Atmos My question to you all. Do you think Sonos will bend and release a new soundbar that support DTS or better? Or should I start looking for another solution and just keep de play 5 to use in the kitchen?

Dear Sir/Madam, I am an AV integration consultant. I am currently working with a residential customer on their sound requirements for a refurbished living space and they have shown a personal interest in your 5.1 Playbar setup. Having looked into this I'm afraid that I just cannot recommend this product to them at this time. It's a real shame as Sonos has always made great products in the past and I feel with this one you have dropped the ball somewhat. How can I recommend a setup that costs £1500+ that is not truly 5.1 without a specific TV or extra switching equipment and even then there would still be no support for DTS audio from Blu-Ray players. I have always loved Sonos. I have specified it to customers for their multi room audio requirements in the past on numerous occasions. With this particular product I just feel dissappointed by Sonos. I think they have let themselves and more importantly, a lot of customers down. With all that being said. What is to be done about this S

Not sure if I'm saying anything new here, but I've come to the revelation that DTS should not be a technical issue (users can't tell the difference between it and DD) but a user experience issue. It's not about sound quality; it's about ease of use. Users shouldn't have to start threads, do expensive research, speak with support, etc. in order to play a video source with DTS. Users can't tell the difference? Fine. But users sure as hell are frustrated when they have to research TVs, blu-ray players, switches and more just to make sure their Playbar or Playbase will work. Pay the license fee. Support the codec. Make your users lives a little bit easier. (Isn't that what Sonos is all about?)

My Sony XBR65X900C is hooked into the Playbar via the optical cable. The 'audio source' shown on the app is "Stereo". How do I get Dolby 5.1 sourced to the Playbar?

Connected up my new playbar, but there is no sound with my Plasma Pioneer PDP-436SXE TV (2006) The Sonos setup recognised that there was an optical cable to TV, but I only hear the TV speakers at the end of the set-up I can't seem to configure the TV no switch off internal speakers, but really should this make a difference. TV is fed with Sky+ HD box via HDMI and TV optical out is connected to Playbar. Playbar works with all my other product. (2x Pay3, 1x Play5 & 1x Play1. Is there any way to check optical out is working ? Anyone got this or other Pioneer products to work with PLaybar?

I have a network around the home consisting of a Play 5, a solo Play 1 and a surround set up running off the TV that has Playbar, Sub and 2 x Play 1's. These are all connected via a bridge and a boost. I recently noticed that I can no longer see the surround system, but can still access the Play 5 and solo Play1. I've tried power cycling the router, bridge and boost; changing the channel; rebooting the controller app. Any advice on what I can try to bring the surround back into the network? To be clear the surround is all working off the TV - I just can't see it from the app controller. Thanks

So I'm new to the Sonos ecosystem. Last month I bought the P5Gen2 for my home office. Last week I bought 2 P1's for the living room. The next part for my home theater system will be the Playbar or Playbase. I'll wait at least another month for the Sub though. So my question is: does the Playbase has any features (except going under a TV) that should make me buy it over a Playbar? My TV is mounted on the wall so it doesn't matter which one I get. I'd buy the Base just because it's newer but than again, the Sonos page of the Playbar reads "thin is good for TV, but not for sound" - so will the base have worse sound than the bar? What could you recommend?
