Google Assistant and Sonos

Hello Everyone, I live in the Netherlands and I recently purchased a Sonos Beam with 2 Play 1 (all in the living room) and an IKEA/Sonos speaker for the bedroom. I also have a Google Home Hub. I managed to play Spotify properly on the Google Home Hub using voice control and I also manage to play Spotify on all Sonos speakers using the Sonos Android App. I have the Beam connected to a Sony Android TV and, if I ask it to play Spotify, it automatically turn on the TV and plays Spotify, but I cannot manage to use Google assistant to play Spotify on the Beam (and the 2 Play 1) having the TV off. Similarly, I cannot use google assistant to play Spotify on the IKEA speaker in the bedroom: when I ask Google assistant to play music on that speaker, it says that he is going to play Spotify on that speaker, but eventually ti says he cannot help with it yet. Does anybody had a similar case? How can I fix it? Thanks a lot!!!

Just set up Google assistant on my Sonos Beam - assistant recognizes my commands like add Milk to shopping list, but when I ask it to play a artist on Spotify it tries and then says - "device isn't available right now" . I can play Spotify music through Sonos app on all speakers including the Beam. I have removed the Google assistant from the Beam and added it back just to see if that fixed it. I did change the name of the device during the process of setting it up. Has anyone run into this error and figured out how to fix it.

When I ask GA to shuffle songs on my One, it responds "sorry, shuffle mode is not available on this device". Is there any way to get Google to shuffle songs on Sonos?

Hi all! I tried installing my two Sonos One today with Google Assistant. First I installed One of them and tried it out and when i give command to lower volume it only lowers the One with Google assistant set up. I then installed the other One in hopes that this would solve the issue but then it doesnt respond in english anymore, it responds in Swedish(!!) Im a Swede so I know 😉 help?

Just bought a Sonos one. I have Spotify Premium as my Default Provider in Google Home, it works on the 3 other google minis I have. But Sonos one keeps saying I am sorry I cant help with that, or I dont know how to do that. If I change my default music service to Google Play Music it works perfectly ( still got a couple of days remaining on current subscription). I have unlinked and relinked spotify on google home and the sonos app but nothing seems to work, anyone had a similar issue?

I'm not surprised that I can't play the music in my local (NAS) library with the new GA/Sonos integration. However, is it also not possible to play music that I've uploaded to my Google Music account? I can do this using the Sonos app. If I try "Hey Google, play (artist) in the office" I get "OK (artist) from Google Play Music playing in the office. Sorry looks like the subscription tier for Google Music is not supported." I've also added "from my library" to the command and that doesn't help.

Will the new Sonos with Google Assistant also feature Multiroom across Sonos and Google? For example playing music on Sonos One and Google Home mini at the same time? Thanks for any help.

I'm new here. I'm likely to buy a Sonos amp for my back yard speaker setup. Will there be an update to AMP so that I can add the Sonos amp to a speaker group in Google home? That would clutch it for me. If not, will I have to find a Chromecast audio on eBay and use that? Are there alternatives since CCA is discontinued? Thanks!

Google seems to have made some progress (through their own proprietary Home app) with GA voice volume. They've allowed the end user to customize the volume level used when GA responds to commands. When will Sonos adopt this same functionality?

I have a play:1 and have added the Google assistant voice service successfully to the Sonos app. I linked everything and for a success message. I can see my speaker in the Google home app. When i go to Services->Music in the Google home app, Sonos is not available as a choice. Only Google play music and YouTube music, and no default provider are.options. below that are Deezer and Spotify neither of which I have. The last option says, Other Music Services but it is not clickable. When I try to tell google to "play Phish from Sonos on the patio speaker" it always attempts to play from Google play music but then gives me this error "Sorry, it looks like you need to log in again on Google play music on the Sonos app". So I do that, it says it's successful then o try again and same problem. How do I get google assistant to recognize Sonos as a music provider and properly link my accounts?

Hi all I have recently been experiencing problems with my Sonos One with GA. Everything was working fine until around a couple of weeks ago when Google does not always respond when saying "Hey Google" or "Okay Google", even when the chime sounds. The problem appears to have been getting worse. Also recently, when setting timers (say for cooking etc.) when the time is up and we tell Google to "stop the timer" or "cancel timer" etc., it stops for a bit but then starts beeping after a few seconds. As you can imagine this can be infuriating and the only way to stop it has been to switch off the Sonos from the mains. All in all, i.e. general responsiveness of the Sonos to GA commands seems to be fairly laggy when compared to our Google Home minis which are a lot more snappy and responsive. I'm wondering whether these are just teething issues which Sonos is working through and whether anyone else has experienced patchy performance? Thanks TT

I was really excited to update my Sonos system with Google Assistant. I use both Alexa and Google Assistant for different tasks because they are good a different things. When I updated yesterday, I was really disappointed that I can't run both at the same time. Am I doing something wrong? Or do I indeed have to pick one or the other?

Googlr is not working in Sonos one gen 2 . Before I was using Alexa and is was working okay. But Google became available so I change to Google, but Google is not responding to my requests. All it can do is play and stop the music and that only sometimes. I am the only one that has this problem?

I have both Alexa and google assistant integrated into my house. I’m disappointed that there doesn’t seem to be a way to set up a stereo pair of Ones with one speaker doing Alexa and the other doing google assistant. It fits with what was described as one assistant per speaker. This would also solve the problem of both speakers in one room going off at the “Alexa” or “hey google” wake work. I currently mute one of the two mics because of this repeatedly happening. Would be nice to be able to use the other speaker with the mic muted for google assistant. Am I missing something?

Anyone else having an issue with Google Assistant and Spotify? Google assistant works fine when I use it but, no one else in my house can get it functioning. The error they receive is that the Spotify account must match on both Sonos and Google assistant. I have Spotify Family so everyone can manage their own playlists. Sonos does not seem to recognize multiple Spotify accounts, therefore only my account is logged on the Sonos. Anyone figured out a work around?

Hi all There have been a lot of requests for the ability to group Sonos devices via voice command to Google Assistant. Whilst this isn't supported yet by Sonos, there is a way of doing this if you have a Logitech Harmony Hub type remote. Here are the steps I've tested: 1/ Open the Harmony Hub App>Harmony Setup; 2/ Add your Sonos players as devices; 2/ Next create an Activity - As an example, lets call this 'Group Sonos'; 3/ Click on Sonos Speakers and then using the link select the specific Sonos devices that you want to group. You can also set the default volume at this stage; 4/ Please link your GA and your Harmony Remote accounts under Add Device>Works with Google>Harmony. If already linked then please Remove the link in the Google Home App and relink. During this process you have the ability to define 'Friendly Names' - there doesn't seem to be a way of doing this any other way. When does Sonos expect to have support for Google Assistant?

Just bought a sonos one. My google assistant CANNOT find the device. Very frustrating after being a SONOS loyalist for years.

When I ask Google to play a song on Spotify through my Beam, it will say: "OK, here's [song]. Sorry, it looks like you haven't set up Spotify on your Sonos app. To play from Spotify, link the same account on both Sonos and Google Assistant." I have linked and unlinked the same account on both the Sonos app and the Google Assistant app a number of times, and still can't get it to work. Is there something I'm missing?

Hi, I have set up a play one in my bedroom. I have a 5.1 sonos system in the living room (play1s/playbar/sub). I can play music through the Sonos app on my android phone but the Play One will not open apps via voice command. I ask it to play/pause a Spotify playlist "I get sorry there was and error for the Bedroom " I am using Google Voice assistant. Thank you in advance!

I've been trying to get Google voice services set up on my Beam (living room) and One (bedroom). For whatever reason, the Google Assistant app can find my One in the bedroom, but it can't find my Beam in the living room. When switching back to Alexa, it finds both speakers in both rooms just fine. I read somewhere that having a Google Home in the same room as one of these Sonos speakers might affect this. I did indeed have a Google Home in the same "room" as the Beam, but I have since changed that. Any idea what's going on? I tried on both my 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks and still no luck.

When google assistant will be available in Poland in Polish language ?

Hello, I have 4 Sonos One speakers setup in a group and I am using Google Assistant and Pandora to play music. I say "Hey, Google, Turn up the volume" and the speaker that seems to be closest to me increases but none of the other speakers in the group increases. I would like to have the entire group of speakers volume increase with GA voice control not just one speaker. I can't seem to find a way to make this work and change the volume all speaker in a group with a single command . I constantly need to go to my Sonos App and use the volume sliders to re-sync the volume levels so they are all the same again. The other option would be to go to all 4 rooms separately and have GA increase the volume separately. Thanks!

I have downloaded 10.2 and configured my Sonos system for Google Assistant. I have 4 Sonos Amps and 5 Sonos Beams+Ones+SUBs. I have 9 Home Hubs and 6 Minis. Some early observations for which I would appreciate feedback/confirmation from Sonos Support: * Only rooms that have a Sonos Beam or Ones can be directly paired with Google Assistant. My Sonos Amps do not appear to be controlled by GA (e.g. using a Home Hub or Mini as a "microphone" for a Sonos Amp). * Related, none of my Sonos speakers appear as targets within Google Home to which you could map "default speaker". For example, map a Home Hub to a Sonos room as the default speaker. * I have configured Google Music (for which I have a premium subscription) as the default service. But every time I ask Google to "Play [artist or song]", the Sonos responds saying "I can't do that here but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices." * In Google Home, there is a Sonos TV Control for each Sonos room including
