Play 5/3/bridge to upgrade…so how much do I get off an arc and sub set?
We are installing four Play 5 inside our restaurant and 2 outside under good cover. Is there any hardware available for inside wall mounts up high and does anyone have a relatively cheap solution to keep the outside ones from being stolen? We will have power in the ceiling for the four inside and close power for the outside ones. Thanks for any ideas.
Been through the related threads - and I have tried to reset my controller, remove Spotify etc. as pointed out in another thread. However Spotify still drops out randomly… I have now tested with another Music Service. Spotify is having a problem, NOT Sonos - I can listen to radio and another music service for hours without any problems, but Spotify drops the stream randomly. One note though, after my system reset, remove / add Spotify and so on, less dropouts occurs. So some effect but still not good enough. l’ll push this into the Spotify support.
My experience with the first sonos I bought. Paid top dollar for the entire home theatre setup, including Arc Sub and two One SL. Unfortunately it is one of the worst audio system I have owned. It has an insane setup process. Sonos should mention in BOLD on their box packaging that this needs innumerable wifi connections to connect and NOT TO PLACE ROUTER OR AS A MATTER OF FACT ANY ELECTRONIC ITEM NEAR THERE PRODUCTS. Are you kidding, in this day and age you are suggesting not to have any electronic items in house near the system. Have you guys lost it. Seriously will recommend you to make a bluetooth connectivity system, these wifi system are not compatible with most routers. Had they mentioned this I would have never bought any of there products. With great difficulty connected there arc and sub.But none of there one sl can be paired with the arc. Returning this hopeless system back. Also the quality of music is only good with their sonos radio and with other sources it mediocre. My
Note the information below is current as of 2/13/23 for MacOS Ventura 13.1. Lord knows what changes the winds of times and whims of Apple Software Engineers will bring. So like many folks in this forum, I’ve been frustrated by the Sonos Library recently refusing to recognize new playlists. I periodically copy my Apple Music library and related files (the whole darn …/Music folder) to a shared drive that Sonos has access to. Doing an index from the Sonos app picks up new music, but recently tends not to recognize new playlists even with repeated indexes, even deleting and recopying the music library, or sacrificing a chicken under a new moon, the whole drill. No love on new playlists. After a bit of digging around I think I know what happened and how to fix it. So in the old days of iTunes, Apple would automatically generate and keep up to date a file called iTunes Music Library.xml, stored in …/Music/Itunes/. Sonos indexing apparently uses that file to do its magic. Cue dar
My equipment: Philips Television 32PFL7486H/12 with Sonos Gen2 Soundbar and Dual 491 pick-up with integrated amplifier (RIAA correction) and analog RCA connections.Sonos is connected to TV with HDMI (Arc). My question is: How can I use The soundbar to play the music coming from the Dual record player? The TV has no seperate anlog input. It only has VGA or DVI connections. The scart connection is used for our CD player. Is a converter available on the market to support only analog input on a VGA or DVI connection?
Five play1s and a thingee for a sub. I spend way too much time debugging sonos. I have great wifi, nothing else going on (no gaming in parallel). Sonos complains, can't connect, then it connects, then it plays a few songs on Pandora only to stop and restart a new song mid-song. And streaming is its strength. Playing stuff from my PC ? forget it. It works, its just FLAKY. Great idea Sonos, it's just too damn flaky. Next time, bluetooth and cast to local speakers. Done. Ive already invested in sonos, but will never spend another penny, and if it dies, bye bye sonos.
Ma tv lg est raccordée à ma sonos arc via hdmi arc. J'ai essayé des films en atmos et je n'ai jamais le son en atmos. Toujours en pcm ou surround 5.1. Que faut il faire ? Merci
Hello,I would like to equip my home theater with sonos system, but I wonder if it is possible in my configuration.I have a sofa that is in front of a bay window, so I do not want to have a television in front of this window. That's why I opted for a projector with a retractable screen on the ceiling. The projector is above the sofa. I would like to have a soundbar that I move in front of the window (under the screen) when I want to watch a movie and 2 Sonos ones on the sides, as well as a subwoofer. However, it would not be practical to have to pull a very long HDMI cable from the projector to the soundbar. Is there a way to make this entire system work over wifi with the projector sound? Is there a simpler way than having to place the soundbar under the screen each time it is used? The projector is an EH-TW7000, I already have a Sonos play:1. Cheers :-)
HI,I have a mixed wired and wireless system across four rooms. I note that the Access Point reports that the Play 5 that is directly wired to it is pulling the network speed down to 1Mbps as opposed to the rest of the wired system (Play 5s and a Beam speakers via switches) is reporting 1Gbps capable. Are Sonos network devices really that slow? Andrew
Can I setup my arc for Sonos voice and setup a Sonos one to use google in the same room?
I just got the Beam Gen 2 and it seems that i can’t use it properly with my Dune HD Pro Vision 4K Solo media player. The Vision 4K Solo has 3 HDMI ports at the rear, one input, and two output ones, one of which is for audio only. The thing is that i need the output HDMI to go to the LG TV so the only one i have left is the audio output HDMI and that is not compatible with the Beam Gen 2.I did enable ARC and CEC via the media player, nada.So basically since for some reason i don’t get Sonos didn’t put a 2nd HDMI onto the soundbar (input/output) i can’t have HD audio as output since i will need to use the HDMI to Optical adapter. Ideas anyone?Thank you.
My SONOS system consists of (3) Play3s, (1) Arc, (1) Sub, (1) Move, and (1) Roam. They were all working great on my old Wi-Fi system. All were and are wireless. I upgraded my Wi-Fi to a Ubiquity Dream Machine Pro Special Edition with (3) hard-wired Ubiquity WAPs. Same network name and password. Now, nothing works even after doing the standard Sonos app “Let’s fix it” to move to the new network. Have also tried to do a hard factory reset. Have also tried to use one of my Play (3)s in a hard-wired scenario to act as a bridge. Still does not work. what the heck do I do?
Helloi have just swapped out a SKY Q box for a freesat 4K box. Unfortunately, I only get stereo PCM now. Freesat say that surround is possible:Yes, our 4K TV Boxes are designed so that you can connect an audio device to your Set Top Box using your own optical cable.Connect one end of the optical cable to your audio device and plug the other end into the optical socket on the back of the Box.There is a setting on the box where you can select ‘surround’ for the optical connection. As this was a like for like swap I was hoping it would be straight forward. I still get surround sound through Apple TV. I have tried connecting the freesat box using:1 hdmi = works ok but only pcm stereo2 hdmi + beam optical adapter = no picture3 hdmi + beam optical adapter and another hdmi cable = as 14 hdmi and optical cable = as 1I have a Samsung tv with a connection hub (Samsung One Connect). Devices connect to this and the there is an eArc connect to the beam.I feel that I’ve missed something. Any clue
Hello, For a long time now, I've been having issues with Apple Music playlist artwork showing up as a generic icon on the S2 app on my iPhone, and the same results are from the desktop controller on my Windows 10 laptop I have finally figured out why this is happening, but I still need to figure out how to fix it. If I add the playlists from Apple Music to a Sonos Playlist using the following option, the artwork shows up as expected (see below). I select the option to "Add to Sonos Playlist", and the artwork shows correctly. The playlist is indicated as a Sonos Playlist. If I use the "Add Playlist to My Sonos" option, the album art only shows up as a generic icon, and the playlist is indicated as an Apple Music Playlist. I noticed on the Desktop controller on my Windows laptop that there are two different sections for playlists. One is called Sonos Favorites, and the other is called Sonos Playlists. The "Add to Sonos Playlist" option adds the playlist to the Sonos Playlists
I suddenly can not get ANY audio to play on Netflix. I’ve had the sound cutting out issue that many have discussed on her quite frequently and backing out of the app, moving around the on the remote a but, and going back into the app works. This time I have navigation sounds in Netflix when scrolling through the app, but as soon as I click play on a video, no sound! Not even the previews will play audio. I DO get audio if I switch the Audio Track to AD or Spanish. I’ve had nothing but problems with my Arcs integration to other devices. Asking Alexa to play music on it through Spotify results in choppy on and off starting of the same song over and over again. Won’t play 5.1 on anything via AppleTV. If I didn’t install these piles of garbage to my walls, they’d be replaced.
Hello, I have been searching and reading this forum and did not find any definitive answers. I have an old Sony turntable with an external preamp. Autoplay does not work, as many have stated. I have to always (re)select the Line-in as source. The consensus seemed to be around a pre-amp that is always on. That said, I just ordered an U-Turn Orbit Theory turntable with built in preamp. Has anyone had success with the autoplay on this or other U-Turn turntables with the built in pre-amp? Just trying to set my expectation. Yes, I have autoplay selected for the line-in and for that set of speakers (room). Thanks in advance!
For a few days now, I’m unable to connect either my iPhone or iPad to my Roam SL via AirPlay. Symptoms: when Roam speaker is on, it does not show in the Sonos app when the Roam speaker is on, it shows that it’s asleep in the Sonos app When the Roam speaker is on, and I try to share audio via AirPlay from my device, the speaker is an option on the airplay list, but times out and does not connect What I’ve tried:a. powered off all devices and powering them back on, phone, iPad, Roam. b. Reset the Roam speaker c. Made sure all devices have the most recent OS and updatesd. Unpaired my Roam from my Sonos system and set the speaker up again via the set up process Briefly after I completed step d above, I could play music on my speaker but it then dropped mid stream and I haven’t been able to play music it on it again. At this point I don’t know what else to do. Anyone have any suggestions ?
Was thinking about picking up the Ray. I currently have a Sonos amp, with Bronze Audio bookshelf speakers. The amp is connected to my TV via the hdmi arc. Will this set up get any benefit from the Ray?
I have Beam and One x 2 for our living room TV, which already has a great sound. We are now thinking about buying Sub Mini but would like to try this first and perhaps comparing with Sub Gen 3.The question is “where can we try this setting in London ( as you don’t have a SONOS flagship shop)Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Hello, I have two 5s and a one sl in our living room. I just ordered a one, to finish off the room. The room is 40’ x 12’ and I am going to put the speakers up high, about 6.5’-7’ up. Which way will I want the 5s positioned, landscape or portrait, I want the volume paired so when I turn the volume up, all the 5s and ones stay the same, without have to adjust each. I don't really care if they are paired in stereo though. I have a one sl and a move each is in its own room. We generally have the same music playing through the whole house. But need the volumes for each at different levels. I want the living room to be blanketed in sound though. It is just for music, not tv. Here is a rough diagram of what the room looks like and where I was thinking of putting everything. The main concern is changing the speakers in this room equally at the same time, and whether the 5s need to be in portrait or landscape and if it matters. The blue object are sofas and chairs. Thanks
New Sonos five. How do I put it in bluetooth connection mode to connect to it from a PC (instead of from Sonos App)?
So i’m considering attempting the sonosnet setup for my system. my understanding is that all i need to do is connect a speaker directly to my router, and sonos knows what to do. I’ve read that a private 2.4gz network will be created for the sonos speakers to connect to (even though i have 2.4gz disabled on my router). My question is this….I want to keep my 2.4gz disabled to utilize the speeds i get from my new wifi 6 setup. but i do have one device (garage door) that i would like to be able to connect to my system (and it only connects with 2.4gz). is there a way to utilize the 2.4gz wifi band that sonos has created for itself for other devices outside the sonos ecosystem?…..if so, i could keep 2.4 disabled, but still have the devices that require 2.4 to still connect….. please advise.thanks…GG
After struggling to reconnect my play1 after changing wifi password, it finally worked yesterday. However, it does not work via Sonos App while Spotify can find my Play1. Can you help as I want to use TuneIn? Thanks Georges
Note: Information in BOLD is copied from the VergeWi-Fi 6e is going to be the future of Wi-Fi…someday…but not right away. For Sonos it’s a non issue….for the most part. More on that later. If you’ve ever bought a Wi-Fi router, you may have had to sort through specs that read like complete gibberish — like “802.11ac” or “a/b/g/n.” But going forward, Wi-Fi is adopting version numbers so that it’ll be easier to tell whether the router or device you’re buying is on the latest version. In the past, Wi-Fi versions were identified by a letter or a pair of letters that referred to a wireless standard. The current version is 802.11ac, but before that, we had 802.11n, 802.11g, 802.11a, and 802.11b. It was not comprehensible, so the Wi-Fi Alliance — the group that stewards the implementation of Wi-Fi — is changing it.All of those convoluted codenames are being changed. So instead of the current Wi-Fi being called 802.11ac, it’s be called Wi-Fi 5 (because it’s the fifth version).802.11ax, now goes
