TL;DR - Roam is arguably the infuriating portable or bluetooth speaker I’ve used. 10/10 regret this purchase. Context:Had a home-wide Sonos setup (arc + surrounds + sub) + (2x fives + sub) + (2x ones) + (move to bring to the backyard / on trips where space isn’t a premium) before buying my Roam - so am very familiar with the ecosystem Also have some Nests dotted around for voice control - again, very familiar with the wireless sound ecosystem Needed to replace our ultra-portable bluetooth speaker (use cases where the Move is too cumbersome such as quick trips to the park or trips where flying is involved) Purchased a Roam, charging pad, and case; set it up in a room that didn’t have a One/SL to be used on wireless mode but also available for bluetooth portability; works fine in wireless mode.Challenges:Immediately out of the box it didn’t work and needed to be replaced. Connectivity - regularly have connectivity issues when switching from wireless to bluetooth. The single power / mode
I can't be the only one that wants to add more speakers to their home theater setup. Rocking the Arc, dual subs and fives for the rears. It seems weird that I can't add the Era 300 's or in ceiling speakers to this set up instead of swapping out speakers and repurposing the old ones. Using the Moves as left and Right speakers, or wide the ERA 100's as wide (front) left and right. Just using my imagination.
I have a LG 98uh5f digital display that allows for 4 simultaneous inputs for a 2x2 TV wall panel for my home theater. The unit does not have HDMI-ARC or Optical connections.I would like to connect the TV to an audio set up that includes:2 Sonos Amp (with 2 zones) 8 Architectural speakersThe sources I have setup currently are:2 xFinity cable boxes Roku ChromecastMy goal was to use an audio output of the TV to supply audio to the Amp from the Master TV panel (minimally), or the individual sources (without manually switching-ideally)Here are the available inputs:
If you have an Android, you set your dual/separate audio to a sonos speaker and connect to it via Bluetooth and then connect to a google home speaker via Bluetooth. Then you can go into your google home and play on all google speakers. The downside is that you can only get the one sonos to play with google Groups.
i know sonos sells am accessory to hold the ersa 100 but i have already a plate that I can use which will save 79€. i could not find the screw that fits in the hole under the era 100. I tried a screw to ho.d a camera on a tripod and various screw I have home. Could not find the correct one. does anybody know. m3 type ? thanks
I have seen a few articles from a couple of months ago quoting Sonos Management where they mention support for 27 new countries coming this “spring”, one of which was my country. However the official page of supported countries is unchanged and there are no countries currently listed as “coming soon”.So has this been abandoned or do I hold my breathe for a little longer?
I only recently and reluctantly updated my Sonos component system to S2 which required purchasing a new Sonos Amp and replacing a Sonos-Connect. I am now no longer able to update my Sonos music library with the Sonos app or Desktop controller. Since 2006, my music library has been stored in a share file on a Buffalo Linkstation NAS drive which I last replaced a couple of years ago. A senior Sonos advisor tried to help me with this problem and we checked the path designation and the NAS drive settings including SMB protocol, none of which were changed from the time I updated from S! to S2. The senior Sonos advisor was unable to repair the issue and more concerning was that he was not aware of this issue. The only workaround he explored with me was adding my backup Buffalo Linkstation folder to the music library setting and then deleting my regular NAS drive and then replacing it after which we deleted the backup. Combined with my new iMac Ventura OS not being able to update deskto
does anyone know how tall the speaker stands go for the 5?
I’m on my second Sonos roam, after sonos changed the first as it just refused to connect even after all of the diagnostics done. Now the second one worked out of the box but a few months later now dosent connect again. I love the Sonos sound but how can a company produce a speaker that is so complicated to connect. I have many other Bluetooth speakers which are so much cheaper and connect every time it just makes no sense. This is me frustrated again having taken my speaker on holiday for it not to work. I will just go and buy a 50 euro JBL that works so easy
I am using the coax digital output from a Port to drive an Arcam SA30 Amp. Everything worked with the amp detecting a 44.1khz input. After the firmware update today, the amp says the input is ‘Not Valid’ and nothing plays. The analogue output from the Port still works OK. Is this a botched upgrade?
Hi. Following lengthy investigation, and three attempts by Sonos agents to diagnose, I was told by one yesterday that an update to my S1 Sonos Connect had increased its power requirements to above that which my old Airport Express can produce. As a result, the Connect cant simultaneously deliver audio through the RCA analogue outputs AND wirelessly to other Sonos products. It only works through one or the other. He said that currently, there is no way for users to revert the Connect to its pre-update, fully functioning state, but that Sonos may release an update to make this possible. Is there any info on when this might happen, or if there’s a work around, or if a new Airport Express would resolve this. Many thanksHenry
Hello All,Having a serious conundrum with what to do with this room… I currently own a sonos arc, sub and 2 SL ones that I have been using for home theater in an apartment. Moving to a house and want to try to recreate but dimensions on the room seem awful for it. My concern is that with a sectional couch pushed up against the wall there’s no room for a right rear speaker. I could use the rear ceiling speakers that I’m likely going to switch out to sonos architectural speakers with a sonos amp but even then they’d be so high and asymmetrical to couch placement with R rear directly above and L rear off to the side. Appreciate any ideas the group has. The TV will be mounted on the exposed brick once it’s cleaned up and the large sectional will be in front of it. Some pictures before and during renovation for reference with old ceiling/wall speakers installed which will likely but upgraded but not relocated (not perfect pics but hopefully you can piece together the room using them): thank
After two frustrating years with the Sonos mobile app (unplug/reboot/reconfigure ad nauseum), can I plug my Arc, Sub 3, two Sonos One SL’s by ethernet and still control with my Sonos mobile app?
This morning, around 09:15-09:30 my Sonos One SL speakers started playing music very loud No idea how it started as the alarm is not set for today nor the timeframe it came on Don’t know who or how started? I’ve sent diagnostic report 783525074 if that may help? Thanks
I have spend a fortune buying all kind of sonos speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers but finally I just realize I made a big mistake believing this company cared about customers as well as the way the speakers have to be set up.Maybe this company does not realize that we are not sound or Wifi engineers… and we don’t have this much time to read these never ending lists of advices to resolve all the never ending issues…I will go back to wired system (cables) and forget all these SonoS headache for good.Best to all of you and good luck with Sonos.
My Samsung TV does not have a digital optical port for me to connect the Sonos Playbar to. How can I connect my TV to my Playbar? I’ve been searching around that others said to use HDMI to digital audio adapter but what adapter do I get?TV Model #: UN65KS850DFXZAThank you for answering my questions. I appreciate any help here.
Hello to all,is there a way to test the Dolby Atmos sound on the HT sistem even thought SonoS app reports “DOlby Atmos”?I searched on youtube and there are tracks “Dolby Atmos” test...but playing those the SonoS app gives 5.1 and not Dolby Atmos. So how could i do a Dolby Atmos test to compare ERA100 to ERA300 (using the Beam gen2 + Mini sub)??? Thanks
My Play 5 v1 was working fine a few days ago. I can browse my music on my Synology NAS via wifi network but it no longer plays. I get the error message unable to play xxx access to my server denied. I have tried rebooting everything. There have not been any updates in this period. Anyone any ideas?
Hello, since I bought Sonos Beam my experience has not stopped deteriorating (impossible to broadcast from YouTube, Group impossible with other speakers, and recently Sonos devices can no longer be by default in Google home) . The reason is this war between Sonos and Google. Although on the bottom it is Google which is wrong and which is largely responsible for this bad experience, I could not replace goggle assistant. So it's my sonos that I risk replacing. Wouldn't there be a way to make google assistant and sonos voice control cohabit? THANKS
Hey all-I want to build a surround sound system for my TV using existing Arc and Sub (gen 3) while incorporating new Sonos Amp and 4 architectural wall/ceiling speakers. I am placing 2 additional ceiling speakers in an adjacent room and hook all of the speakers to the amp via a speaker selector. Would the speaker selector allow me to turn off the 2 solo speakers when using TV/surround sound and would a single amp be able to support all of this? I know that the amp can support 6 architectural speakers but not sure in this arrangement. Hopefully this can work and save me from having to buy a second amp by only getting a speaker selector. Thanks!
Hello,I'm the network admin in a large geographical campus LAN. We have may different buildings and all our buildings are connected with our own dark fiber via layer 2 and 3 switches.I need to setup a Sonos amp and two Sonos outdoor speakers. My two questions are:1. At the new site I plan on installing the amp and speakers. I will connect the amp to the network switch which is connected to a layer 3 firewall, (Cisco Meraki MX), to the Internet. I will setup a new private network on the firewall for Sonos, (SSID on Cisco Meraki MX), that only employees can access the SSID. The Sonos equipment will connect to the Sonos SSID and employees with the Sonos app can login and access. Does this sound technically correct?2. If more sites want to add Sonos equipment across the campus LAN, is there a way or a better solution where there would be a "main" Sonos site and different Sonos equipment across the LAN where everything in Sonos can be controlled out would I just setup each site with it's o
When my Sonos products updated to 15.3, many of them changed their wifi connection to my guest network. The frustrating part is they refused to connect to my main wifi (which is a hidden network) though they were all connected to it prior to the update. I had to reboot them and in the case of my Sub Gen 3, needed to do a factory reset. I hope future software updates don’t require this amount of time and frustration to resolve.
I recently posted about my difficulties in getting a BeoSound 9000 CD player to connect properly with a Sonos Amp. I am happy to say that a 5 pin DIN to 2X RCA cable that allows connection between one of the PowerLink speaker sockets on the BeoSound and the Amp has helped, at least in part. The cable was purchased from Steve Marriott at SoundsHeavenly.com in the UK. Thank you pup!I have had the best result by short circuiting the requirement for a B&O remote control simply by inserting a dummy headphone plug into the BeoSound 9000 headphone line out (a tip from the BeoWorld Forum). This allows me to control the volume output on the BeoSound directly, as it was in “TV Operated” mode when I received it. For reasons explained more fully below, I actually have the Beosound connected to an Ampapa pre-amp Line-In and this is then connected to a Sonos Amp that is part of a 6-component Group on my Controller along with another Sonos Amp, two Sonos Ports connected to a receiver, a Sonos
Hello,Is there a way to set a sound alert when battery is low on Sonos Roam?I know there is an orange light that is visible when battery is low but i will prefer to have an audible alert as well.If there is none, do you think this is something worth asking Sonos about? Thanks,Radu B.
I see a few other posts about “Sorry, I don't understand issue” playing in the middle of the night from the assistant EVEN with the mic off. None of them have a solution! This is happening to me and is maddening. Please help
