Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

Over the past year, the quality and usability of the Sonos app for both Windows and Android platforms have seriously degraded. We routinely have failures such as "unable to add music to the queue", "cannot find your Sonos system" and the latest one is that we cannot control the volume, pause, play or any functions. Often rooms are missing from the system. I've routinely had to reboot the system to get it to function and this afternoon, even a reboot didn't work. I had to walk into all 5 rooms where we have Sonos speakers and unplug them to stop the music. Even network, device and Sonos bridge restarts didn't work. Our wireless network coverage and signal strengths are excellent. In addition to those technical difficulties, the usability of the app has taken a serious nose dive. I used to brag about how easy the system and app were to use, then with a major upgrade about a year ago, the app changed dramatically and it is awful now. I realize that there are some change managem
I am unable to Manage my Music. My options are greyed out. I have a Mac with 10.10.5 opererating system and my Sonos has the latest updates 9.2. Help...
Is it possible to control Sonos players outside a WiFi network? Every once and a while I take my Play 5 and my NAS to work along with my CR100 controller which was not dependent on WiFi to operate everything. Now that they're no longer supported, how do I access my Music Library and Play 5 without WiFi? Could my phone be the WiFi network? I've never tried it, hence the question.
If this has been addressed then I cannot find it. I noticed whilst playing Diamond Dogs by David Bowie that the tracks were displayed and played in the incorrect track order. I then went into the app Metadatics on the Mac and checked the tags - all fine. I forced all of them to be re-written and now as seen the tracks are still in the incorrect order AND the track number isn't appearing in the controller. I changed the options in the Metadatics to write the tags in standard ID3v2.3(UTF-16). Any ideas to try to rectify would be very welcome. Let's be honest it's not a big deal as the songs play, albeit not in the order David Bowie intended, but it offends m OCD about accurate tagging!
I have lost "settings rooms" on all my controllers (iMac + iPad) + Sonos app on Huawei.
We use Sonos at work. When I receive a call that goes through my iPhone and MacBook, all the speakers on our system turn down (or pause.... not exactly sure which.) How do I set Sonos to NOT pause/turn down when a call comes through? I can't seem to find the setting within Sonos and all the similar chats I've read are actually requesting the opposite! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It is my opinion that "dropping the CR200 dedicated controller" was the WORST decision ever made by Sonos. I have just spent another wasted afternoon unsuccessfully attempting to teach an elderly customer how to control his new $3000 Sonos system without the CR200. I tried an Android phone, iPhone, iPad Mini, iPad and he could not understand how to control Sonos. My clients are all age 60+. Most don't even have smart phones. The CR200 worked perfectly for these people. I still prefer my own CR200 over any other controller. My Sonos sales have nose-dived after the CR200 was discontinued! Wake up Sonos. Even Bose understands how vital a dedicated controller is. Bring back the CR200!!!
The latest controller v9.2 always crashes when you quit it on the desktop now. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. Hi. I am soon installing a sonos system at a sailing club where all members have access to the wifi password. We want to have a sonos system where only exclusive members will be able to control the sonos speakers from their phones, so that when music is playing nobody will be changing the song just because they don't like it or want to play their own music without permission. Is there a way we can set up a password for the sonos system? Does Boost setup influence the way you can connect to sonos in terms of passwords? I was also wondering, with Spotify accounts, if you would need to pay for premium in order to skip songs or play in select order (instead of shuffle like it automatically does in the spotify app), or if you get these features in the free version when playing through the sonos app? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I asked for a black theme for the Android app the last time there was a major revision, because it is easier on the eyes and better for battery life on OLED displays. Of course Apple has started using OLED displays for the X iPhones too (other than XR). Hopefully Sonos will listen, now that Google is asking developers to do so: Google wants developers to add dark themes to save battery life https://www.xda-developers.com/google-wants-developers-to-add-dark-themes-to-save-battery-life/ (Why can't I even create a hyperlink in this forum??)
In the past when "Advanced" settings disappeared, it meant you needed to upgrade your controller app. I did, but the advanced setting still didn't appear. So I called support and I was told SONOS has removed this from the desktop controller app for technical reasons. Hmmm?, it used to be there. It used to work. I was told to use my phone app as most people use their phone and "it is the way of the future". I have a Microsoft Surface Pro. Maybe someone should tell Microsoft they are not 'in the future'. I also checked my iPad - removed. I have speaker drops on line-in and use the 'compress' setting for music over line-in. But, when I play videos the compression delay (about 1.5 seconds) doesn't sync with the motion, so I go uncompressed and deal with the drop-outs. I don't really want to be part of "the future" if I have to watch videos on a tiny phone or have to have both devices to effectively use SONOS. Silly. So I looked in support and in community and I cannot find anywhere t
hey guys, few weeks ago I received an email from yonomi that they revamped the options for controlling sonos stuff, cool! I set it up, but location based action do not produce any effect. Yonomi is set up on my iphone, there are no other devices running yonomi in the house. Let me be more clear. I have a stereo pair of sonos one. The yonomi location routines are the following: 1) WHEN i leave the house, STOP speaker 2) WHEN i arrive, PLAY FAVOURITE playlist I receive a notification for both on my lockscreen, meaning the app understands correctly when I enter or leave the trigger zone. Unfortunately though, the music is not stopped/played accordingly. What is more weird is that when i'm at home and I force the routine, the speaker stops/plays as it should. I'm pretty confused and would like some feedback from whoever is also using yonomi. - ideas for troubleshooting? - what is it that is going wrong? - i read somewhere that i may have to keep a specific device alway
I have a dozen or so Sonos One's... Some paired some singles and a Sub. I run them over the Sonos Boost and finally got them operating trouble free... then last night I get the you may not use some features message (mandatory update essentially). Post that update all my Lutron remotes stopped controlling the Sonos systems. I Rebooted Boost, Sonos devices, Lutron Bridge, had Lutron delete Sonos data so I could re-add. Re-added the remotes. No results. Any ideas?
I have 4 Sonos Play:1 speakers and a Sonos Boost controller. I also have a Sonos Controller for PC app on my PC. It took me a while to figure out that I cannot create or add songs from my NAS to a Sonos playlist that I created using my PC. After reading many posts on this site explaining how to accomplish this, I realized that the ONLY way to add songs from my NAS device was to do so on my iOS device (iPhone). I really don't understand the reason why. I can place songs in queue from my PC but cannot add songs to a created playlist in Sonos. Is there a good explanation for this, or am I just being anal?
Hi there. Quick question / UI concern I have in the iOS app - which I otherwise really enjoy. I would like there to be a way to clear the queue without stopping the currently playing song. By entering the now playing queue and pressing the "clear queue" button, the current song is stopped, and the queue is cleared. This ends up being frustrating in practice. A common use case amongst me and my friends is that we want to clear the current queue, without ending the song currently playing - in order to either let the current song finish and then the music to stop - or to clear the queue ready for adding more music after. I think it would be A HUGE IMPROVEMENT if the "clear queue" button would remove all songs AFTER the currently playing song - and then pressing the same button a second time could then stop the currently playing song. Sometimes I queue up many songs, but then want to stop listening after the currently playing one. Say I have 20 songs queued up - the
anyone know how to turn on or off Sonos when away from the house?
I have Play 5 gen 2's in the kitchen and bedroom. When listening to internet radio, favourite stations, it would be good to be able to change favourite stations by swiping the touch buttons on the play 5's. In the same way as changing tracks when listening to albums. More convenient than going to a controller each time.
Why am I now being forced to create and link a Sonos account to the controller just to be able to add speakers to the system? There is absolutely no reason why this needs to happen. Poor form Sonos. This should be an optional step. As such, I will no longer be buying any more devices.
My phone app thinks my account is under an old email address. Even when I used the Forgot Password link, it sent the new password to my newer email address. I can login fine on the sonos.com site, so it is a problem with the app. The message says "Sign in with the account used to set up Sonos". How can I fix this?
As per my 8 year old thread - http://forums.sonos.com/showthread.php?t=14604 I would like virtual zones - for example, an upstairs zone or downstairs, or outside so I can quickly get the music I want to the areas I want.
Hi everybody, since there are no sonos controllers anymore (and mine from 2006 is not working anymore), how can I use Sonos for the guests in my B&B? I can't ask guests to download the controller on their phone and give them my password, so what's the alternative?
Hello, I I have 2 Sonons One speakers in a stereo setup. Plays fine with Sonos app. But in JRiver Media Center they appaear as 2 different speakers. Even linking them as one zone is not a solution.
I am generally OK with the 9.2 Desktop Controller. Yes, the black is a bit forbidding. I have a preference for light themes, such as this forum. But the one thing that I can't forgive is the design of the Windows 10 task bar icon. I use a black task var. So the Sonos icon background colour (also lack) make it merge into the task bar. That means that all that is visible is a microscopically small "Sonos" text. This definitely comes into the category of "What were you thinking?!" This is a usability issue and it needs fixing please
I just bought a connect amp that is connected to my speakers in the kitchen. I also purchased a Play 5 speaker that I control directly via the iphone app. I was told that I can control the volume of each room but do not see how this works. Any help would be appreciated.
Bumping this out of my last thread to stand alone in this big bad world. has anyone floated the idea of a controller app for the new generation of Smart Home Displays (Echo Show / Google Hub) I have this dream that I can one day play music without talking (by talking I mean trying 500 times to get the naming conventions right) or using my phone Seems these displays offer an elegant, large screen control surface - LUXURY INDEED as you were
