Hi Everyone, I know this topic is probably beaten to death already, but I could really use your help. We are looking at either the Seagate or WD cloud NAS for our home; it's predominant purpose will be for our music storage to play on Sonos. I've read all the reviews I could find (nothing that really helped as a comparison of these 2 units exactly), but I'm still stuck as to which will be the best choice to work with Sonos. We're using 2 MacBook Air laptops and Samsung tablets / phones. I would have to say Time Machine compatibility would be the secondary main requirement, which I believe both do. I have looked at the other manuf. but hubby is computer technology challenged so I really am just looking at the Seagate or WD. Would greatly appreciate your help!! Thank you, Heather

Hi- I have just purchased the Connect so I can get away from AirPlay-(interruptions with phone calls and things). I have hooked my connect up with the supplied RCA connectors- I will be getting an optical cable soon. The trouble is with the volume. While using AirPlay, I have to keep the Receiver(Sony STR-DN1030) volume at below 7 so it is not too loud. After hooking up the Connect, I have to start the volume near half-way just to hear it. I have changed the connect to "fixed" level and this helped a bit, but it is still way quieter than the level of any other source. My concern is that the receiver does not default to a low level and if anybody goes to AirPlay and I don't catch it and lower the volume first it could be an issue. Is there a way to get the Connect to a level that is at least a lot closer to every other source input? This might be the deal breaker. Hope someone on here can help me out. I recently got a Play 3 and 5 gen 1. LOVE the sound quality BUT they don't work wireless for me. I have great wifi and I have fire sticks/ Apple TV and play stations that pick up my wifi all over the house but my speakers don't.

I want to use a Sonossystem in our outdoor room there is no heat in the winter. I wonder if it is possible to have and use the speakers there even though it can be cold and damp.

I have the following: - Sony Bravia non-smart TV with HDMI ports (and other ports) - Boost - Connect - 2 x Sonos 3 - HP Envy laptop with HDMI running Windows 10 I can connect the laptop to the HDMI on my TV and the sound isn't too bad, but I'm wondering if I can also have the sound on my Sonos system at the same time? If I can how is this best achieved? Basically I want to be able to play a YouTube playlist on the TV to have a bit of karaoke at our NYE party. It's the wife's idea - she says it, I have to solve it!

I have the line out from the Amazon Dot broken out to a left and right RCA connector into the back of a Connect:AMP. When playing a source such as Spotify from the Dot I only receive mono sound from my Play 5. I verified the 1/8 connector into the Dot is indeed stereo (has the two rings). Can someone verify for me that this should be stereo?

Inotherwords, should I plan to spend a huge amount of money to have my existing in wall and ceiling speakers be controlled as separate zones?

Hello, I have a Beoplay a9 in the living room and a play 5 gen2 in the kitchen. I'm very interested in getting the sonos connect to group them and to make it sounds both a the same time. Someone with the same setup? I'd like to know if there might be a delay between the a9 and the play5. I read that with some AV there is a significant delay. I really don't want to hear echos if I listen them at same time. Thanks

It seems to be that countless people have asked for connectivity between their Echo devices and the Sonos CONTROLLER and Sonos has been slow to respond. Sure you can connect a DOT to a Connect or a Speaker "big deal" you could always do that. I have 3 Dots and a Echo. I also have Sonos through out my house and I like listening to Sonos when I go to bed, but instead find myself using my Dot and a Bluetooth speaker, because I can't control my Sonos with the Amazon Dot on my bed stand. Sonos users want voice control of their Sonos systems, I understand Sonos is working on that, but it should have been done a year ago. Get us something, now and enhance it later. I have heard the announcements regarding Amazon. and Sonos working together in the future but I have a question concerning current components and thief abilities. Can I run a 3.5 male to male from an Amazon tap into a Sonos 5 ? I have attempted to connect both components as mentioned but cannot get the Amazon tap to operate. I can only play music via the Sonos app. I cannot even start the music on the Amazon tap then connect the line in to the Sonos 5 and hear music. It is an older series Sonos 5. Until tonight I have always regarded the Sonos system as a music system which was only linked to the outside world if I wanted to make use of such music services as Apple Music and the like. It never occurred to me that Sonos would be more intrusive ... until tonight when I started the app on my Mac. I was told to update otherwise the system would become crippled. The only thing that appeared to be new is a message service that now works within the Sonos app and which is on by default and can only be switched off if I access my Sonos account on-line and switch it off there. I must say this gives me the creeps and makes me wonder how private my use of Sonos really is. Does anyone now? Is my listening experience a private one or is Sonos keeping tabs? What sort of messages is Sonos planning to send me? Will it be yet another channel for advertising? Why must I go online to switch it off?

Morning all, I am trying to track down some replacement rubber feet for my Play 3. Giving it a dust down and noticed 1 front and 1 rear foot on the underside have decided to move on somewhere. If I can pointed in the direction of new ones that would be helpful. Many thanks. 🆒

I try to connect or add my bridge through the SONOs console but it doesn't seem to recognize it and no bridge lights come on. It times out without connecting. I've tried all the fixes suggested (power off/on, router cycle, etc). I've tried to connect with desktop which is hardwired to the system - no luck. Please help with a solution.

I have a Play One and love it! Can I use that as a speaker (like I currently do) by itself when listening to music but add it to a PlayBar for surround sound? There are times I'd like to use the speaker by itself but other times when watching TV that I would like it to work as part of the surround sound system. Let me know if this is possible. Thanks!

Hello, I own a yamaha receiver and one sonos play1 (thinking of adding more)...I understand that with a sonos connect I will be able to transmit music from my sonos to my yamaha system, but I more interested in the opposite...so the question is: Will I be able to transmit audio from my yamaha (for example what i play there with airplay) to the sonos speakers in other rooms? Since connect is a rather expensive addition I would appreciate a certain answer

Hello! So I just bought my first sonos setup, consisting of 2 play:1's and 1 play 5. These 3 will provide sound for the living room. I will add future speakers but this is it for now. The installation went pretty fast and easy. I hooked up the play 1's as a stereo pair and named the room for them 'living room'. I did exactly the same for my play 5, also naming it 'living room'. Now when I want to stream music, the speakers are likely to be in different room, and I always have to group them, although they have exactly the same name. Is there any way just to add the 3 together? Or do I always have to group them together before I start streaming? Thanks in advance! Laurens

I have got a connect amp, pair of Rega RS1 speakers & a velodyne impact micro subwoofer. Speakers are wired into the sub, from the sub to the connect amp. Sub is wired directly to the connect amp. When playing music at a low-medium volume the sub does not sense a signal and work. If I turn the volume right up for a split second and then down again the sub senses a sign and begins to work. I want the the sub to be working no matter what the volume level is. Any ideas? Thanks, Rob

I have a Sonos 5:1 surround setup with PlayBar, Sub and two Play 1s, all connected via the PlayBar to the TV. I also have a good old set of wired hifi separates, i.e. a Pioneer turntable, tuner and stereo amplifier, and a TEAC twin cassette deck. I'd like to be able to use this equipment to play my record and cassette collections, as well as use the tuner, all through the Sonos system. There's a lot of information available if you just want to hook up a turntable to the Sonos, or if you want to stream music from Sonos to a separate amp; however, I can't find anything to help me know how to simultaneously connect the multiple hifi separates listed above so that I can play these through the Sonos system. I have a big SONOS network system with 12 CONNECT boxes service the entire house and garden. I love my Amazon Echo and can see an enormous future in being able to tell Alexa where and what to play. Any chance of early trials or betas for the work currently underway ?

So far it is only possible to use SONOS and Apple Airplay when connecting a SONOS Connect or Play:5 with an additional Apple device supporting AirPlay (e.g. Airport Express). Therefore, the idea is to develop a SONOS Bridge which has integrated support for Apple AirPlay without additional hardware.  Benefits would be in this case that - no additional hardware and cabeling is necessary to use AirPlay in the SONOS system - one could easily allow guests to quickly output their audio to the SONOS system - all iOS devices would be supported as a sources without further software - with an appropriate AirPlay software on PC / Mac one could even send audio from there into the Sonos audio system The Sonos controller could then represent this "AirPlay input" as a new audio source within the complete SONOS system.
