Peachtree Deepblue2 & Sonos CONNECT
+1Have a DeepBlue2 BT speaker and want to integrate it into a Sonos environment or get a PLAY:5. Assume I would get a CONNECT and use the optical out to connect to the DeepBlue2? Anyone done that? Will obviously lose the ability to control volume and power ON through the Sonos app, but will gain a BT wireless speaker with Sonos capability.

+22Yes you could use a Connect to hook up via the optical input of the DeepBlue and then it would be the same as a Sonos speaker (or you could hook up with the analog 3.5 to RCA cord that came with it).
+22Note: You will be able to control volume with the sonos app. Just set the DeepBlue to the loudest volume you would want and then the Sonos app will be able to lower it down or up to that volume.
Of course the DeepBlue unfortunately does not have an output. If it had an output it would have then been able to send Bluetooth back out to the Sonos system so you could play your Bluetooth to other Sonos speakers.

+1Chris - Many thanks. After some experimentation after receiving the Connect today and an email from Peachtree support, it appears that setting the Sonos volume to FIXED is best for this powered bluetooth device. The DeepBlue2 uses a variable EQ curve that adjusts based on volume, so having minimal input volume (variable) effects the sound on the box. Although this unfortunately requires a separate remote for volume control, it also does not wreck havoc on an input change by having to the device set to full volume for the Sonos variable input.
