Hi all, looking for a second- and third- opinion if I might trouble you all. I have Sonos Amps in the comms cabinet, and Sonance ceiling speakers in the bedrooms.  Sadly, these are connected via CAT6 cable (4 cores per channel used - pics below), and not proper speaker cable because we messed up at the planning stage and didn't realise until it was too late. It works absolutely fine with CAT6 cable, but an electrician who came over recently (to help me address cooling of my comms cabinet) said it was really bad and a fire hazard. We should apparently never run the volume over 20%, or the wire will get too hot and melt the thin shielding on the CAT6 cable, creating halogen gas, and burning the house down -- obviously just a worst case scenario, but... I am sure he is right, but he is strongly suggesting we rip the house down and lay proper speaker cable.  This is no small task. I want a second opinion on really just how big a deal this is. Just setup a turntable with my Sonos Amp (which Ive had for over a year now). Running latest S2 FW and App on my iphone and iPad.  Turntable is a Fluance RT82 into ARTDJPREII into the Sonos Amp → B&W Floorstanders… I have autoplay for line-in turned on and set to the room the amp is in (Lounge). The Autoplay is working fine.  As soon as the needle drops, it cuts to the line in.  My issue is when the record stops, and I turn it off, line-in retains control.  I understand it won’t go back to what it was doing before from other threads but If I queue up some music on Apple Music at that point and play on the Amp, it will build a queue and play, but the moment I exit the app and come back in, line-in takes over again, stopping the music that was playing, despite the turntable being off and no LP playing.  Its very annoying. It only seems to happen with the IOS apps (and Lyd the Apple Watch App).  If I use the Mac app, line-in doesn’t take over after exiting and restarting that app. I l

Current situation: 2 x Play 5 first gen (S1) of which one is directly network cabled to my router and a Sonos Beam (S2?) connected to my TV. Can play Spotify through both the Play 5s and the Beam.Purchased an “old” Connect which I´d wish to connect to my Arcam amplifier such that I can use the now more or less idle Hifi system: (Arcam, Naim CD player, DynAudio speakers), which is a pity.How would I best proceed? Network cabling the Connect to my router (and to my amplifier), leaving the one Play 5 network cabled to my router as well? Or better to only link the Connect directly (Network cable) to the router? There are probably more options just want to create the most stable one. Currently all equipment is in the living room but I might move one Play 5 to the kitchen providing I do not need a Sonos Boost or extender if I can help it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

HiThis is driving me a bit crazy. I have a Rega TT, through a Rega pre-amp, through to Amp. All music services work fine, except TT. It only plays through one speaker in Stereo, but through both in Dual Mono. Have checked all connections, all fine. Many thanks in advance to anyone that can help!  mark

I’m new to Sonos, received my Arc Home theater set up (Arc, Sub, 2 ONE SLs) and had no issues setting it up to my LG tv eARC for my AppleTV 4K and Playstation Pro. Actually a very enjoyable set up experience! So all of the AV setup is done, good to go. Problem I’m having now is I also have a turntable in the living room. My goal is to have it sound as good as I can though my Arc but I have concerns that the analog to digital happening in the Sonos Connect is crushing the sound cause right now, Apple Music through the Apple TV is sounding MUCH better then when I play the turntable through the Connect > Arc. Over on Reddit I learned about this community and post about line in level matching my output and the equation to convert my cartage and preamp numbers to figure out what output level I should put it at. By default the app had 2 selected, using 10 certainly helped but according to the equation, I need to go above 10 (enter Spinal Tap joke here). I have an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge

Hi,New on the forum, but not new to Sonos or Hi-Fi.I have an old turntable which I used to connect to a pre-amp and speakers 15 years ago.Now I’d like to use the same turntable with my Sonos. I’m married, so I don’t have endless options in terms of moving stuff around the living room. I can’t even have the turntable next to the Sonos making wired connection difficult,Q: Can I connect the turntable/pre-amp to a Sonos Port or similar and “stream” this to my Sonos speaker(s)?

Sorry for asking a newbie question that’s been asked and answered before. In our current house, the rooms and the backyard are wired for speakers. Our main use is watching TV on 3 Definitive XTR-60 speakers and a subwoofer on a Marantz SR6008, which also runs surrounds in the ceiling. I get Netflix, Amazon, Vudu, etc. on an LG TV, and play the sound back through the Marantz. Secondary use is streaming music over various wired speakers indoors and outdoors, all wired to the Marantz. This all works We are moving to a house that’s not wired. My hope is to: Hold onto the Definitive L/R/C/subwoofer Add wireless surround speakers Keep the SR6008 if possible. I have been thinking about upgrading to an SR8012. Will this help with the connectivity? Use the TV as the source for Netflix/Amazon/Vudu. I have been listening to my TV (15 years old) via a connect 120 (legacy) to HiFi speakers for over 10 years with no problems, but now I would like to buy a new TV.  No models now appear to have analog out so I am considering using a DAC between the TV Optical and the connect amp.I suspect that I will suffer from audio delay which I will not be able to cure and which is not acceptable.Has anyone else used this setup with success?  I would love to know before lashing out on a new TV.Regards,John

What is the best configuration to connect a turntable wireless to more then one Sonos speakers. I have very good broadband and I need some form of pre-amp as there isn’t one built into the turntable 

Dear all,This weekend, I bought my ‘dream spreakes’ (Scandyna SmallPod passive speakers) second-hand. A bose amplifier (Bose SoundTouch SA-4) was part of the deal, but I already own a Sonos Connect:AMP (Gen 2, because it's S2-compatible). Because I already miss the ‘Sonos-environment’, I’m curious to know if these four (small) speakers (specifications below) can be connected (simultaneously) to my Sonos amplifier. I've already read a lot online, but I can seem to figure it out. A small side note; I don't put the volume high, I live in a small (noisy) apartment thus only play - low volume - background music. Can I connect my passive speakers to Sonos Amp with wire and then connect Amp with PC via analog audio-in (RCA) without having any audio lag?

If I buy a Five and plug in a device using the line-in, will I be able to play music from the device in different rooms on both products (or while the Move is in wi-fi range)?I do not want to play in stereo (I've already found that info) but just need to confirm multiple Sonos products will work hope I hope they will.Thanks!

I have a SONY 5 CD player with optical out. I connected it to my Sonos Beam with the HDMI Sonos adapter. When I play a CD on the SONY no sound comes out of the Sonos. What else do I need to do? Thank you

Dear Sirs, Could you please help me on how to connect this vintage B&O amp.receiver to SONOS port...  I guess Out to In, but I don't recognize which is which and what cables adapters I'd need. Also, there is this headphones Out, if it can be used... Many thanks I

I have a small HTS consisting of a Beam, and two One SL’s, and I am about to get a Port to connect my turntable to the system. My question is can you isolate the two SL’s to play the audio from the turntable as a group, then automatically returning to “TV Mode” ie including the Beam back into the group when the TV is turned back on?

I have a Sonos Play 5 Gen 1 Speaker and everything is working on it perfectly except that it makes this constant whistling / buzzing sound whenever the power supply is plugged in.Dug into it and isolated the component making the noise. I am not experienced with electronics but would like to know:What is this part? Is it possible for me to fix it myself within reason? What do you think is a fair price to have someone else repair it?Any help is greatly appreciated. 

Hi, apologies if this is discussed elsewhere already, I did search and look.  Can anyone advise a preamp that I can use to connect a Pioneer PL 12D turntable to my Play 5? Will any preamp work? Or do I need a certain type/specification? Is the preamp all I need, or do i need a stereo amp too? Really hoping it’s just the preamp.  Thanks for your advice. Jason

Hello - first time user of this forum so thank you to anybody who can help with this. Is it possible to use a smart TV (LG LED) as the amplifier/speaker for a ZP90 (possibly via a Humax box)? I have an old ZP90 that is not getting used and this would save the need for an amp/speaker purchase to play it through if a TV could do this - acknowledging that TV audio may not be the best sound quality. I see lots of people looking to use the Sonos system to play their TV audio in a surround sound approach but not the other way round. I have a Sonos connect V2 connected to a sound system in my office. I also have Sonos sl pretty distant from the sound system. When I receive phone call, I want to pause the Sonos group. As there is no pause button anymore on the connect V2 and the SL is too distant, I would like to know how to pause the system quickly without using the app. Is there any remote pause button control that exists to pause the system? 

Recently purchased the Sonos 5 with the Pro-ject T1 phono SB. Had to purchase a separate RCA to 3.5 mm to connect to the speaker. Connected and working- HOWEVER can only hear faint music when volume on speaker is set to 100%. Know that is not the capacity of the speaker and after hours on chat to trouble shoot we are getting zero answers. Anyone else have this issue? PLEASE help!!!

Bought my Dad a Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB Turntable to connect to his Play:5 Sonos Speaker.   He’s having Audio issues - Telling me the audio output is not playing all the music / sound.  He says the RCA connection in the back of the Play:5 does not seem tight.  It didn’t “click” into the speaker.     Could it be the wrong cord Sonos sent me - any ideas would really help.  

Hi Alljust installed my PORT to replace my old CONNECT. The PORT is connected to wired B&O speakers. Works fine, however when I stop playing music, approx 2 minutes later, a humming noise then starts to emit from the B&O speakers.  Perhaps it has something to do with the trigger?  Not sure how i can turn off the trigger to find out. Any suggestions welcomed to stop the low buzzing sound from my speakers, when inactive.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some assistance if you’d be so kind. I have a Rega Plana 1 Plus Vinyl record player that I’d like to connect to my Sonos speaker system (Play 1 / Play 3 / Playbar). I believe I can do this through a Sonos Connect Amp. Is it as straightforward as plugging Turntable into Connect Amp > Connect Amp gives me the ability to connect and select which speakers to play out of?  Happy to discuss how best to set this up (without breaking the bank completely).
