Hello I am thinking of getting the new Sonos amp to get the sound from my main tv Sky, Dvd etc coming through my main amplifier which are in different roomsI currently just use a old Sonos Connect wired to my main Cambridge Audio CXA81 amplifier, Nas Drive and router which are all together in the room next door, this new Sonos amp would just be connected to my TV in the other room but be wirelessly linked to the old connect   Can I please ask? Would the new Sonos Amp need to be connected to my router via Ethernet cable or just Wi-Fi as this is not in the same room as the Cambridge amp? If it does work How would I get the tv sound through the Cambridge amp, by grouping it to one of the rooms which I already have on the connect linked to my Cambridge or buy using line in function on the Sonos app ? Would the new Sonos Amp be classed as its own room or zone and would I then then be able to use it as my main player for my entire music library including hi-res files the connect does not sup

I have a client with a macintosh receiver MA6200 and a ELAN preamp controller for six zones with B&W speakers, but he has to walk between rooms when he wants to up / down the volume or change the music, etc.So he is asking me for a solution that allows him to manipulate volume, source and zone selection from any room of his house, of course he loves his macintouch a nd does not want to change it.1.-Do you have any ideas on how can I resolve this request wit SONOS AMP or SONOS PORT.2.- Is there a way to use the same set of speakers for the Macintosh and SONOS AMP, so I can give him the option to use his old system or SONOS.(he said SONOS does not handle the same sound quality)Thank you in advance

My brother gave me his Sonos Connect (model S15) that he wasn’t using so I could connect my outdoor pair of Bose Free Space 51s.  I connected the Sonos Connect to my Sonos Boost via Ethernet cable, then bought a pair of male RCA to speaker wire adapters, connected them to 14 AWG (4 conductors) speaker wire and ran it out and connected my Bose speakers.The problem I am having is barely any sound out of my speakers.  Literally have to put your ear up to the speakers to hear them on 100% Sonos Connect volume via the Sonos App.  Do I need an amp, a Sonos Amp, or something else in this setup for the speakers to work?  If so, can anyone recommend something inexpensive for me to purchase online?Or is it possible I have bad equipment, e.g. not the correct speaker wire or RCA to speaker wire connectors?FYI I’m on S2, and have several play 3 and play 5s running via my Sonos Boost inside my house.  All are wireless except one play 3 connected via Ethernet cable into my Connect.Thanks in advance,

We currently have Sonos in 4 rooms: a Connect linking the main HiFi and TV, and single speakers in 3 other rooms:Bathroom: Play:1 Kitchen: One Bedroom: Ikea Symfonisk lamp.We’re thinking of getting an Amp for another room where there already some speakers working off a small amplifier, not linked to Sonos.When I look at our “upgrade” options: we’re offered 15% on each of our 2 oldest devices.2 questions:I thought there was a 30% upgrade on the Connect - why is ours different? Can the two 15% discounts be used on a single product?

I am upgrading my receiver and want to check if any receiver has full integration or do all require an amp?

I am really struggling with this one I have just move my ZP120 into my TV room and connected the TV audio to line in on the amp. I am suffering a 2 second delay on audio and it’s pretty much unusable as it is.I have consulted the forums and set audio to uncompressed. I have also set Audio Delay to 75ms from 2000ms but it just won’t stay that way. As I look at the S1 app on my phone I see the Audio Delay jump back to 2000ms. Can I connect a zp 90 second gen to a play 5 first gen instead of trading up? 

I was trying to instal a tv outside that is about 50’ from my Sonos amp. The Sonos amp is powering two sonance outdoor speakers. Was wondering what is the best way to get a “line in” into the amp to also play the audio from the TV. But I also want to be able to choose to either have the TV play audio from its own speakers or through the sonance speakers. Meaning I may want to listen to the radio through the outdoor sonance and simultaneously play the tv audio through the tv . Or just play the tv audio with no radio through the outdoor speakers. Would it be best to run a 50’ analog or connect the tv to the amp through a 50’ hdmi arc, or do you have any other suggestions Thank you

Good day and please forgive me if this has already been answered. I recently purchased a Sonos Play and a Sonos Five.  The Play is used to bring in audio from a CD player.  When I first set up the system, the devices sensed that the CD was playing and automatically broadcast audio from the line-in.  Recently, something changed and I now have to go into the app and specify the line-in as audio source. Otherwise I get no audio. To my knowledge, I’ve changed nothing, but clearly, something is different.Thoughts, suggestions, please…Thanks in advance for your help.

I understand the Sonos Amp is based on the Qualcomm DDFA CSRA6620 chip.  I was wondering if that chip does the line input digital to analog conversion.  If not, does anyone know what chip or any additional details.I’m very pleased with how the amp digitizes my turntable input which is why I’m curious.Here’s some info on the DDFA chip if someone more technical can sort this out.https://www.qualcomm.com/products/csra6620

I have read (a lot!) on this but could not find specific answer and therefor my question. If it has been, apologies for repeating!I have just moved to a new build hose which had Sonos Connect:Amp installed, with 2xceiling speakers in 2 different rooms. Currently, cables are connected to the the prongs at the back of the device and all 4 speakers work fine. However, it all plays the same music and there is no way for me to turn one of the room off.I do not necessarily want to play different music in different room but hoping to be able to connect my TVs in different rooms and be able to listen to whats being played. Can this be achieved without investing another £500 in another connect:amp? Rp 

Hi, moved into a new build home already fitted with Sonos speakers in the kitchen/diner ceiling. Had a few issues with the app and unit, wouldn’t link etc, but the latest app seems to have sorted that. Problem I have now is when I play my dance music, and the volume and bass are ramped up, the speakers buzz and distort. My Wharfdale speakers never did this but I don’t have space for that system now, and also thought that Sonos might be equivalent in quality and tone. I listened to a set up system in Currys and was impressed with that so was looking forward to the system in my new place. Bit disappointed that I have to turn the bass and volume down to middle settings, and after 6 months of use, it’s no different. Any advice please? 

Why is it so hard to connect a 3rd party sub to a Sonos surround system? Really strange that the Beam does not have an analog sub-out, or any other feature to connect a subwoofer?The Sonos sub is an overkill to a system with beam as the main component according to several reviewers:  So I really think there should be a way to connect a 3:rd party sub, at least by using  a Sonos connect. There can not be any technical challenges involved in sending the LFE part of the signal to a connect: Is there some kind of trick to achieve this? Or is there any hope that this might be added as a possibility by Sonos?  

looking to use already-owned multi-channel amplifier to drive several new S2 ports.   any issues with volume control in this setup?   Note: my setup is dedicated in-ceiling and in-wall speakers in various rooms in my house that the ports drive.  just looking to re-use my separate amps vs paying for the amplification in the new S2 connect amps.   Thx!  

I currently own  several SONOs products (Soundbar, sub, 2 play 3’s, 2 play 1’s, a Boost and a Connect).I use the connect for my 2 pairs of outdoor patio speakers, 2 garage speakers, and a shower/sauna speaker.  I also have the TV on the patio going LINE IN to the Connect.I am building a detached garage and I plan to create a 7.1 home theater system using an onkyo txnr 686 as the receiver.  I plan to use ZONE 2 for my outdoor speakers and I would like my outdoor TV to also play from my outdoor speakers.  Is there a SONO product that will do this and if so please provide instructions on the connections that need to be made.  I would like to have all of my wired speakers as part of the sonos system but the priority are the zone 2 speakers.  THanks

My apologies if this has already been answered (couldn’t see anything when searching though). What is the output impedance of the Port’s line output? I’d like to drive a fairly long cable (5m), so low impedance would be good..! 

I recently bought a Sony PS-LX310BT Bluetooth Turntable with built-in Phono Pre-Amp and am trying to play it directly through a Sonos 5, bought at the same time. Turntable connection is red and white audio out so I bought an adapter to go to a jack which is now plugged directly into the back of the 5 but no sound...any help gratefully received. 

The time has come to replace my AV receiver, I am looking at an Onkyo 696 which has “Works with Sonos” however I have a 7 room S1 system which I have no intention of upgrading to S2. So would anyone know if “Works with Sonos” is S1 app compatible?

I recently purchased two Sonos 5 Speakers and a Sonos Sub 3, which I use to listen to classical music from my own library as well as streaming from Primephonic and Idagio.  My living room is 25’ x 15’, with 9.5’-10’ ceiling. It opens on to a large kitchen/dining room on one end and the entrance hall on the other.  I’ve been using this system to create a realistic stereo sound, placing them on either side of the 15’ wall in mono mode. The music sounds quite good (though maybe not as good as I recall my old 1995 Bose wired home theater system to have sounded). It doesn’t quite do for the spoken word though (which isn’t crisp enough), and so not very suitable for streaming the French poetry CDs I’ve uploaded to iTunes.I now decided to add a TV to my living room, which I’d place over my fireplace that’s on one of the 25’ walls. I was planning to use a Sonos Arc under it for the sound. I’m told that using the Sonos 5 speakers that I have as rear speakers would be overkill so I’ll probably p

Hi,In terms of sound quality, would it be better to used Fixed or Variable output from my Connect to my amp (using RCA cable connection). I wonder if controlling volume via the Sonos app (I.e. Variable output) has a detrimental effect on SQ, particularly at low volume levels?Thanks 

Morning all.I have a very simple set up : NAS > Sonos Connect > Amp.All has been working well for a few years, however, recently I have noticed some crackling/distortion during bass heavy instrumental passages.I have checked via headphones, replaced the speakers, changed the amp and the distortion is still there,  hence why I suspect the source of the distortion is the Connect device.Unfortunately my amp does not have a optical/digital input, so I am using RCA connectors.The distortion is only obvious on very specific types of music, the rest of the time things sound fine - hence why I am confused as to what’s the cause.I can drastically reduce the distortion by reducing the volume via the Sonos app.It’s as if recently there is almost too much volume being pushed through the Connect.Is there anything else I can check, or, does this mean that my Connect is now damaged (the DAC has ‘blown’?), and the only solution is to upgrade to a Port ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciat

Hii have a turntable, connected to a pre amp, which is connected to my Technics stereo with CD player which is connected to the Port. I have just purchased the Port and can play CD’s but cannot seem to hear the records on the turntable. Can anyone suggest what I’m doing wrong please? thanks 

Hello,  I recently purchased a Connect (ZP-90) and connected it to my Yamaha amp via the optical cable. (into the CD input on the amp),I changed the CD input on the amp to optical via the amp’s setup menu.  Problem is, there is no sound.   The optical cable is fine and is transmitting the red optical signal.  I’ve used 2 other optical cables, with the same result.  It works fine if I use the RCA leads but not the Optical.  I have checked and re-checked my settings on the amp and there is no reason why it shouldn’t work.   I have used other inputs on my amp but same result.    Any ideas? Thanks,Mark,

I am trying to hook up a Connect to Yamaha HTR-3064 home theatre receiver so I can play TV sound over the wired surround sound speakers and Sonos Play1s in other rooms - I understand from other posts this is possible, but I have been unable to make it work despite a variety of attempts with various connections.  Current connections are: 1. Cable box to HDMI3 port on receiver;  2. TV to HDMI1 port on receiver;  3. Analog out from receiver via RCA cables to Analog in on Connect.It would be really great if I could go both ways (i.e. streaming through Sonos to play music on wired speakers as well as Play1s, plus TV sound on Play1s as well as wired speakers.Can anyone educate me on how to make this happen?
