I spoke with a member of the SONOS team via the chat feature on the website. They confirmed that I can use the SONOS Five’s line in directly into my mac desktop computer or laptop; enabling me to use it as a desktop speaker.

I have purchased the FIVE on these grounds, but having done further research I am worried that there might be some delay in the audio. Would this be the case with the new Sonos FIVE?

Also, does the type of audio (analog v digital) coming from a computer have compatibility issues with the SONOS Five as opposed to the audio from say a mixer (aux)?

Thank you.

Yes, any analog input into any Sonos will always have a minimum of a 75ms delay.

The line in on a Sonos Five is analog only.

The Sonos doesn’t care what the source of the signal is, as long as it is both analog and line level. It has no way of knowing what is generating that signal.
