Advanced setups

I currently have a play bar and connect amp powering 2 third party in-ceiling speakers in my living room, and a play 1 connected to my router in the basement.I now have a tv in the basement that I would like to set up another play bar and connect amp powering Sonos sonance in-ceiling speakers and a subwoofer.Will anything be effected?From my understanding/experience, I need that play 1 connected to the router in order for my living room surrounds to work. 

I returned my 3x Symfonisks to IKEA but I didn’t get the chance to reset them because I wasn't sure they would accept my refund request but I’m glad they did. The speakers are still listed in my Sonos account though. Is there any way to remove them?

I have 2 active speakers (so the amp is build in the speaker) connected to the line out of the Sonos Connect. This works great. Now I want to add the Sonos Sub 3 to this. Is that possible? If not, is an upgrade to the Sonos Port a solution?

So I’ve upgraded to the S2 app and have a Beam, Sub gen 2, 2 x sonos one surround setup.  I use my iPhone 11 to stream music via AirPlay from Qobuz, which as I understand has a compatible high res format with Sonos (FLAC).   In this article - https://support.sonos.com/s/article/79?language=en_US, it states ‘Sonos supports the following audio formats when streaming from your local music library, Android device, or Internet radio stations’. And it supports ‘24-bit (44.1kHz/48kHz, FLAC/ALAC)’. So my questions are: Is streaming from Qobuz via AirPlay considered my local music library? If I’m playing a 24-bit high res track at 96 kHz, how is the quality of the playback affected, assuming anything above 48 kHz is lost?

Hello,  I’ve setup a VPN to connect my mobile device safely to my home network.  It’s a set-it-and-forget-it thing.  On my mobile device my VPN stays on 24/24 7/7. I can reach my NAS,  and literally do all the things I do at home when I am at home (!) and when I am away.  Since dataconnection through 4G or 5G is mostly unlimited (Belgium) there’s no issue on that topic.  Since I have perfect 4G coverage at home, I don’t need wifi on my mobile device either.   And certainly…  I don’t need tweaking around my phone when I leave home, starting my car, starting to navigate, or whatever thing I am planning to do.     The only thing that doesn’t comply… my Sonos system.  I’ve seen a lot of coverage on this forum and Reddit about Sonos and VPN.  Mostly posters point in the wrong direction of it being “not Sonos’ fault”, or as in “bittorrents are illegal, so you shouldn’t use a VPN”.  Answers totally missing the point about what a VPN in 99% of the cases is and wh

HelloA) If you can parallel wire 3 x Sonos by Sonance 8 ohm speakers to each channel of the AMP, this gives a total impedance seem by the AMP as 2.67 ohms.B) However the following page: https://support.sonos.com/s/article/4730?language=en_US states you can only connect 2 x 8 ohm speakers per channel, this gives a total impedance seen by the AMP as 4 ohms.I don't understand if the amp can support (A) why I could not parallel connect 2 x 6 ohm Monitor Audio 180-T2 per channel - giving a total impedance seen by the amp as 3 ohms (greater than (A)).Can anyone explain this? I used to have a group with both my products/Beam and One.  Now it says I have to have 3 products for a group?  When did that change and what is the work around? I don’t want to be forced to buy a 3rd products. I also have 3 additional ALEXA speakers,but I don’t think they can be grouped with Sonos 

Is it possible to pair two Sonos Moves together with a pair of wired Polks connected and controlled through a Sonos Connect Amp?

Previously I had the following Sonos Setup:A Sonos One in the kitchen and a old Sonos Connet Amp S2.The Amp was connected via to the digital input to the digital output from my tv and the Amp's analog audio input was connected to my radio and the left and rigt speaker terminals was connected to my Beolab 8000 speakers.Due to the Amp's prioritization between input on digital and analog the amp would automatically switched between radio sound and TV sound, i.e. TV when the TV was turned on on and back again to radio when the TV was turned onand vice versa when the TV was ternede on again.Now I also have a Sonos Arc and 2 Sonos ONE SL's and a Sonos SUB all configured in the TV room.The Arc is connected to the TV's HDMI arc output, and TV sound is working fine.My Sonos Connect Amp S2 is now only connected to my Beo lab 8000 speakers.When I play music/radio via my Sonos app, I select output to go to my Sonos One in the ki

I have recently upgraded to SONOS S2 software and removed old devices from my home network. In particular I wanted better Hi Res support for my HiFI setup. Imagine my alarm when I find that my old Connect (v2) works better than the new PORT and more to the point that the PORT is unusable in my system.Let me elaborate:My music is stored as uncompressed FLAC images, Rips of my CD collection. I play these via the Connect(V2) to an M-Dac (via coax cable). I have run tests and the bit pattern from my Library hard disk to the M-Dac is preserved exactly. that is, the original CD is delivered intact to the M-Dac! Great!Not so the PORT. Instead of delivering a 44.1/16 stream to the Dac it delivers 44.1/24. The original CD is changed and the DAC compromised. THIS is unacceptable.But here’s the thing. The PORT does NOT deliver even the lowest so called Hi Res file to the DAC.  I play a 48/24 file to the PORT and it does what Connect does and samples down to 44,1/24.

Hi all.I’m trying to install two Boost in my system, in order to have a bitter experience.Actually, my system is connected via Amplifi, a mesh system from Ubiquiti.When I try to add the Boost, no way to get it in the system, so I’ve to wire it with the ethernet cable (out from the Amplifi router).After having connected it, and correctly  saw it in the system tab of the app, I remove the ethernet cable, but the boost disappears from the system. Has anyone any idea of what’s happening? Many thanks. 

Is there a way to setup and add my Apple Music library from my iPad without accessing Sonos from a computer?

So, this isn't really an "Advanced Setup", but there are many who enjoy keeping up on Sonos and whatever their newest products are by going through the FCC database, and we tend to be "advanced" users. As a result, I thought I'd post this list of FCC IDs registered to Sonos. I will do what I can to keep this list current over time.Notably missing from this list are the Connect:Amp (ZP120), Connect (ZP90), and first generation Play:5. The RM000, RM001, and RM002 wireless cards were certified to be modular RF components, so they could be used in multiple devices without those devices needing separate FCC IDs. In this era of WFH I would like to be able to use the Sonos speakers throughout my house as speakerphones for regular phone calls and/or Zoom/webex/etc. meetings. It seems like my Sonos products have all the necessary hardware; but don’t have the right software and/or Bluetooth profile(s). Can this be added?

I have 5 pairs of Yamaha ceiling speakers and an impedance balancing switch box. Also have a Sub but it is of course wireless (and an excellent piece of equipment). Connecting to my Amp, what gauge wire should I use to run to the switching unit? Should I keep speakers off (each room has its own wall control) when the room isn't in use to limit the load on the amplifier? I had a Connect Amp and it was crapping out routinely (about 2 years after installation). I had no constructive feedback from Sonos on this and finally got a new Amp. I just don't want this problem to repeat itself. now that the old Connect is outdated and virtually unsaleable I decided to give the new unit a chance

I have two Sonos AMPs that have no power.  I have had a lot of success fixing Connect and Connect:AMP (old and new) devices (there are other threads here on this site), so thought I’d have a look at this AMP problem.After getting it open (see here), I was able to extract the first of two PC boards.  The first board is entirely made up of the power supply.  The outputs are provided to the rest of the unit via two metallic standoffs.  There is also a small connection to the RCA connectors -- I haven’t looked into that yet, other than to see that there seems to be an optical trigger feeding back to the power supply (I have no idea what it is for).The power board has a much newer fabrication technique, and looks like it will be quite a lot harder to diagnose and repair.  I couldn’t find the problem with it.  

Hi,I have read in the SONOS community that there are many issues encountered when a user upgrades the home wifi network, say with a new modem/router, for example, an upgrade of google wifi mesh to the next gen Nest wifi mesh.Every SONOS echo system user will bound to encounter this issue in time, as and when there is a necessity to upgrade the home wifi network with time. I am also thinking of upgrading my current google wifi mesh to the next gen Nest wifi mesh; but have concerns of the problems I would encounter with the wifi network switch on the existing installed SONOS echo speakers system.Common problems encountered included, SONOS speakers cannot join the new wifi network, all speakers disappeared form the SONOS app.I am wondering if someone can provide advisory or point to any available knowledgebase to resolve/steps to be taken during new installation of a new wifi network to prevent SONOS issues from surfacing?Grateful for any advice.

I got a new Sonos One speaker, set it up at home over the holidays.  Added to my current Sonos system and WIFI network, Alexa and Amazon Music all worked great.Now, tried to bring the Sonos One to Work.  Can’t seem to get it loaded onto my work WIFI.  Are there any easy steps to reconfigure on the same Sonos account for two locations?What happens when I want to move the speaker back home?  Can you have Sonos One setup so it can be moved from Work to Home and recognize both networks or can it only deal with one network? Any help or suggested procedures or YouTube videos would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,I have 24 CONNECT:AMPs wired to a Smart Pro Cisco switch that ran fine for many years after Sonos support helped me program my cisco switch with the necessary STP (Spanning Tree) rules.  We also have several Sonos Subs scattered throughout the house that are NOT wired, hence they rely on the SonosNet.  Our 24 Amps are daisy changed to the cisco switch with a maximum of 4 units per daisy chain connected via ethernet cable to the cisco smart switch.  Again this ran fine since 2013 when I originally set this up and generally we still dont have any issues on Sonos.  I have verified under System | Network that we DO NOT have our regular WIFI credentials registered on the Sonos app.  As such we believe we are 100% using SonosNet and not our home WIFI network to provide signal to the wired subs and communicate with our apple iPhone to control Sonos Rooms.  We have been having issues on our wired and WIFI network and I suspect we may be having broadcast network storm

I have the Sonos Arc, sub gen 3 and 2 surrounds Ones that I use for TV and music. Works great. Could I hook up 2 additional One Sls in a different room that won’t play the TV sound with the other components but will play my music with the other components? Basically When I watch TV I don’t want the 2 extra speakers that’ll be in a different room to output speaker sound. But when I play music I want them all to work together. Thanx

I have 2 speakers: one SL and one. These are surround speakers with my Beam and Sub. This is my home cinema audio when listening TV. Is-it possible to have these 2 speakers in a stereo pair only when listening the music? Is-it possible to balance one of these speakers?Is-it possible to listen music only with the Sub and the 2 speakers in stereo without the Beam? I have the S2 app and there is no way to balance the left or the right speaker nor any indication that they are paired in stereo. All of my speakers and Sub are  attached to the Beam within the same room name.   

I set up my beam last in my system and initially I could play music by through the Ones in the kitchen and bedroom as one system. Now I can hear the tv through the beam, however it is no longer a speaker I can group or see as apart of my system.

As many of you may have realised, sound bars like the sonos beam aren’t really tailored for use on PCs - they’re made to be used on TVs or Media players that have HDMI ARC connectors. They definitely work on PCs, but to use them to their full potential, you need to make some extra configurations and invest a little bit more money and time. It’s been 2 months since I bought my Sonos Beam and I’ve spend many hours diving into the audiophile and surround sound rabbit hole, learning about the technicalities of sound and scouring audiophile forums to figure out how to make the speakers work at their optimal on a PC. Helping to replace parents home theater set-up. The current HT set-up is 2 in-wall front speakers, 2 in-ceiling rear, velodyne sub, and Sonos Connect; all powered by a Denon receiver (no center channel).  Older parents complain they can not hear TV audio very well and requested a sound bar. The new set-up is going to be Arc + Sonos Sub and removing the Denon and Velodyne. I am wondering about the remaining 4 in-wall/ceiling speakers to incorporate as surrounds + full stereo in music mode. I can just wire up the rear speakers to the new Sonos Amp as surrounds but I hate “wasting” the 2 front speakers. If I wire both front and rear to the Amp as surrounds will this create an unpleasant listening experience for TV? I would think in full stereo music mode it would sound pretty good.Any other options for using Arc + Sub with BOTH front and rear surrounds??Thank you!

Hi Sonos Community,I recently set up dynamic VLAN assignments based on MAC address using RADIUS on my UniFi WiFi system.  Every device (even the cheap IoT stuff!) I have works just fine with this, except my Sonos Move.  My understanding is that the VLAN assignment happens at the WAP, so the Move would just see my network as a regular old WPA2-secured network.  Am I missing something? I’d prefer not to have a second SSID set up just for my Sonos Move.Thanks!
