What to get

Hi. Due to some changes in my living room, I can no longer use my floor standing speakers that I use with my Sonos Amp. I'm recently installed some new shelves though, and want to have some speakers for it... the only issue is that the shelf depth is only 22.5cm. Can anyone suggest any good bookshelf speakers (£200 max) with a depth of no more than around 22cm to go on my shelves? Been looking at the Q Acoustics 3010 but I'm still unsure. Looking forward to suggestions... thanks in advance.

Hi All! New to the forum. Looking to build out a few rooms, and was curious about opinions on a larger living room/dinning room area. Has anybody heard or compared a 2x Play 3 + sub setup vs. a stereo pair of the Play 5 Gen2's? Everything else being equal, I would prefer a Stereo Play 5 setup and call it done, but the idea of ceiling mounted Play 3's with a floor mount Sub solves some placement issues at extra expense and mounting effort. If it sounds materially better I might go that route vs. the 2x Play 5 floor mount. Any input? Best, Ethan

I am not yet decided on a playbar or playbase with which to begin my Sonos system. My TV is located in a sort of cavity set back in the wall and the playbar would go beneath it, thus blocking the drivers at either end of the sound bar. Sonos recommends leaving a space of 30cm to either end of the device. Does anyone have experience of how much the sound suffers when the playbar is positioned like this? I have no idea what kind of drivers are located at the ends so would it impede the bass or the surround-sound effect? The playbase on the other hand is very unattractive, so big it would not fit properly above the media cabinet and the TV is wall mounted on an arm. But if it would sound better and save me needing to buy the woofer I might go for it.

I was hoping to put the new Playbase at my house, but I am not sure it will fit on my mantel. I went listen to the bar in person yesterday, but the base was not available. Are they similar in sound quality? The setup I was listening to was paired with the subwoofer.

Thanks for any help. I'm going to bite the bullet and get a Sonos setup. I need help determining what would be best for what rooms. The rooms I would like to have music in are main floor: living room, dining room and a great room that has family room/kitchen/casual dining. Upstairs for now just one bedroom where the wireless router is. Here's more description of the rooms where id like to have music. 1. Living room and dining room: These rooms are open to each other but separate from the rest of the house. Both are 10 x 10 so together 10 x 20'. Reality is we will only use the formal dining room once a month at best. 2. Great room: Family room with tv above fireplace open to kitchen and eating area off to the side. The family room and kitchen are a long room – 15' x 30' with TV above fireplace on one short side and kitchen counter on the opposite short side. We had our house built last year, with it came 2 pair of wired speakers with the wires run to the cabinets under the tv in our living room. Knowing I was going to have a Sonos setup in our living room, I had 1 set of the speakers installed in the garage and 1 on the screen porch. A year later I still haven't connected them to anything but recently have been wishing I had. So it seems I have 2 scenarios. First - purchase 2 Sonos amps, 1 for each pair of wired speakers - but paying $1000 for these 2 pairs of wired speakers seems ridiculous when I could buy 2 Play 1's or 3's (1 for each of the 2 areas mentioned) and spend much less. And then just forget about connecting the wired speakers. Second - and this is the one I'm not sure about. It seems as though their are home audio receivers that I can play my Sonos app on my phone through and have it connected to the 2 pair of wired speakers. We do not have any component home audio equipment at this point - simply use the Sonos

I purchased my Boost whilst living in the UK. Now I'm back in the states I cannot find a power adapter with he correct size plug (the coax plug on the Boost). It appears to be proprietary. Has anyone out there come across this issue?

Hi all, Recently bought a play:3 and Play 1. Now moving onto buy a Playbase and a Sub, which I am super pumped about. I have an open plan flat, please see the images. The play 3 sits behind the blue sofa, underneath our bookcase. The Play 1 it currently sitting on the white kitchen ledge on the right of the photo against the wall at the back. I think its cut off in the image, but its the same ledge as the black mug is on. Basically as the playbase and sub are being installed, I want to achieve true 5.1 surround sound. I believe I can only pair two of the same unit? so 2 x 3's or 2 x 1's? It would be ideal to pair the 1&3 is that possible? The issue is, there is no where I would ideally want to put another play 3 in the kitchen, I don't like it standing up on the side. That's the reason I bought a play 1. So I think I would need to buy another play 1? Would I have to move the speakers closer to the blue sofa? Or could I get away with the play 1 being on th

Hi everyone I've just started my Sonos setup with a play 5, is Amazon's Alexa connection available now, and is there any difference in buying the more expensive Echo over the Dot or do they both connect in the same way.

We have previously had a Sonos system which my husband loved and are wanting to install a system - initially for our living/dining/kitchen room which has a cathedral ceiling. The room is approx 5.5 x 7.5 metres. We have recently received an audio proposal which seems to contain a lot of sonos products I am concerned will not necessarily support my principle goal of being able to listen to music (not simply have background music as they assumed) either in the living room or while in the kitchen. Their proposal includes a playbar and cantilever bracket (although we own a small TV that won't, apparently fit on the bracket at this stage); a subwoofer ; 2 rear in ceiling speakers; and a amplifier. My limited reading on this site has me concerned that this proposal is based on an assumption that we are interested in a home theatre system which we aren't. So ... I would appreciate advice on: (1) What we should be installing to achieve the initial goal of getting best music liste

We are buying Sonos speakers to play music at our 1750 sq ft clothing boutique and I need help determing what speakers and how many of each to buy. Budget is about $1,000. I've read several posting about why I cant get them to connect, and I think the solution is an HDMI switch with optical output. Morning, I want to have a couple of external speakers to my sonos so I know i will need to get a connect amp for these. My other question is i have a surround sound system with built in amp in my lounge which i would like to use too, can i use the connect amp to connect this too or do I need to buy the sonos connect without the amp? I'm considering getting a sonos setup for the kitchen, living room (tv), bedroom and study. I don't need it to be the loudest as I don't want to annoy the neighbours. What would you guys recommend for the following: Kitchen: 2x play 1s? or 1x play 3 Living room (tv): playbase or play 3 & 2x play 1? Bedroom & study: 1x play 1 or 2 in each room? thanks in advance

Can this be done and if so, how? I have 4 Gen2 Play5s all in one room. Of course I grouped them together to all play in that room. In my other room I have my Bose surround system with a Denon receiver. What do I need, if anything can, to hook up and make the Bose work with Sonos? I've been told the playbass will do it and replace my center speaker but I'm not sure if it will work or how.

so we currently have an a CD player which connects to a set of speakers using ONLY the audio out red/white cable All the speakers are wired to a central point (around 10 in total) with the 1 red/white cable going from the back of the player into the speaker central point Would a connect be suitable to replace the CD player on its own? So the connect would be stand alone to stream Spotify with a single cable connected to the red/white output and it stream the music through the speakers? Thanks

Hello, My house has a Leviton HiFi2 system with ceiling speakers. There are 8 speakers on the main floor that are broken into 4 zones. I can blue tooth or connect directly to the system with a head phone jack to play music. I currently use my old Nexus 4 as a source for the system. I use a Leviton app (only works on Apple) to control the speaker volume. I am looking at Sonos to become the central hub to the system and I would also like to add 2 WiFi speakers in two different areas. So to me it looks like I would need a Connect and 2 Play5s. The Connect would be hard wired with Ethernet with a broadband connection and the speakers would connect wireless into my Wifi network. WiFi coverage is solid where I need the speakers. Would I plug in an Ethernet cable, power and then a headphone jack between the Connect and the Leviton system? Will Sonos be able to control the speaker zones (4 existing and 2 new for the Play5s) and volume of all the speakers? Can I

Now that the Playbase is out, is it better than the Playbar? Any thoughts? I currently have the Playbar, Sub and two Play 1s and 65'' LG OLED TV for my home theater. Should I sell my Playbar for the Playbase? Can the Playbase handle the weight of my TV? Thanks!

I have a turntable connected to an old Marantz amp. I have a Sonos Connect running through the tape-out so that I can play my turn table through my 5.1 system (playbar, sub, 2 play 1's) I am also considering purchasing a pair of play 1's for another room across house...and also to move / setup outdoors on nice days. My other option is a play 5 in place of the pair of play 1's...... which would represent better sound for turntable?

I already have a nice Subwoofer that I'd like to integrate with my pair of Play 1 speakers. The Sonos Connect seems like a possible way to do this. First question: Can I pair the Play 1's with a Subwoofer via the Connect? Second question: could the Connect be used with the Playbar (if I were to get one) for home theater?

I currently live in a small ish apartment and have one play 1 for the living room I want to expand and am debating Between a play 1 or play 5. If I went with the play 1 I would create a stereo pair and leave them in the living room. If I went with a play 5 I'd keep that in the living room and move the play 1 to the kitchen or bedroom. I worry that the play 5 would be To much for my living room but I do like having multiple zones Thoughts are welcome

Have a 345 sq ft basement living / TV room (23' x 15'). Leaning towards a Playbar + SUB for simple TV watching, but was also considering a pair of ceiling speakers driven off a connect that would be shared with other rooms. When I decide to group all speakers together to play a single source in, say, "party mode", will I experience a delay between the Playbar + SUB and the connect-driven speakers in the same room?
