I need to move my CD Collection off my hard drive and onto a NAS so I don't have to open my computer everytime...also how should I be ripping? FLAC? Lossless? AIFF? Which will give me the best quality?

Hey all, I am considering to use SONOS in a new business I have opening up and thought I would see whether other users here have had any experience using SONOS in a business environment? Keen to hear the goods and the bads and also whether there are any good commercial music services that you would recommend? Hi there. I am about to purchase a sonos product to connect my regular floor speakers to my Sonos system. Do I want to buy the new Sonos Amp and get rid of the receiver or am I better off buying a Sonos Connect and using it through the Sony receiver. Currently I have a Sony Str-DN1000 7.1 channel receiver. I use Sonos mostly for music, but will be upgrading to a surround sound system some time in the future. As of now I have 5 rooms connected with a variety of Sonos speakers but I want to use my nice Pioneer floor speakers with the system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regardless has any one tried them and found have thought on them - especially in comparison with the Flexson ones? First, I apologize for asking something that has probably already been asked a million times. I am interested in getting a Sonos system for whole home sound, using the round in-ceiling speakers. I assume those are wired? I have an open floor plan, but if I have 4 in the living, 2 in the kitchen, 2 in the dining and maybe 2 in the hallway, how do i manage the volume on each set of speakers? Since it's an open plan, most likely always the same music. But if I add two to the laundry room, I can chose different sound for those, correct? I'm going to do the home theater later. This first plan is to simply have music through the house, and use the ceiling speakers. What the heck do I need to buy to stream music through these speakers? I got a little lost on the various components and amps needed and don't really want to ask the guy at Best Buy. Thanks in advance.

I realize there are dozens of topics on Playbar vs Beam. I've reviewed many but wanted to clarify a few items specific to my situation. I'm looking at entering the Sonos game. New build home with large open concept combined Kitchen, Dining Room Great room. Two sets of ceiling mounted speakers in kitchen and dining room each hooked up to a sonos amp on a rack in the basement. We intended to add some form of sound bar to the TV in the great room. I'll likely get some form alexa enabled device, or perhaps later in 2019 a google assistant enabled device when that becomes supported. Somewhere down the line I expect in time we will likely add 2 sonos 1's for surround to the sound bar but this might not be for a while. Given the size of the room other posts are leading me towards a Playbar over the Beam. I'll appreciate the improved sound quality which i understand will be prevalent in midrange sounds and really help TV voices and vocals not get drowned out by the room size. Would you exp

Has anyone purchased the Sonos & Sonance bundle that is currently being sold by Best Buy (See link below). I am looking for any feedback before I purchase. I currently have a 5.1 setup in my living room (Playbar, Sub, and two Play Ones in my ceiling). I am looking to purchase this bundle for my pool area and want to wire the Connect Amp to my outdoor tv and mount the Sonance speakers to my lanai. Has anyone purchased this bundle? How do I use Sono's with all my equipment? My TV is wall-mounted, so I can't just run multiple HDMI's there for the optical to be outputted, if it even does 5.1 Dolby Digital. It just seems logical Sonos would have an official branded switch? Sure we can go to Amazon, but I would imagine most consumers need such a device. That way we can get exactly the right product. Even better with a switch that has a remote for volume/input selection. Since there is no such product, what do people recommend? I want to be able to hook up varying devices (PS4, Satellite, Bluray, etc).

I'm considering getting the new Amp and have a couple of questions: 1) Can the Amp be grouped and play audio sent from a Beam which is connected to a TV? 2) Is it possible to have an RCA input into the Amp, but redirect audio to another set of Sonos speakers without audio coming out of wired speakers? I currently have the Sonos Playbar, Sub and two Play:1s set up as 5.1 surround. I am thinking of putting a speaker in the kitchen and bedroom. From what I've read you can't replace one of the Play:1s with a Sonos One as one of the rear surrounds. So I was thinking about buying two Sonos Ones and using them as the rear surrounds and placing one Play:1 in the kitchen and the other Play:1 in the bedroom. I have a couple of questions.. 1. Hi, I have a pair of Play:5s (1st gen) and use them mainly to listen to classical music. While this works well for chamber and solo music, it fails miserably for bigger orchestral pieces like concertos or symphonies. The sound of symphony orchestra is flat, with no low end and everything mixed up together. Timpani are weak and if there are too many brass instruments the sound breaks completely even though I do not listen at high volumes. I have switched to lossless CD quality from MP3 and while there seems to be an improvement here, the general impression remains average. I have the feeling (no science behind this statement) that symphony orchestra provides to many sounds (“channels”) and my poor Play:5s are unable to process all this wealth. So as much as I like Sonos experience I’m disappointed with the sound quality for symphony music – the speakers I have do not seem to be the right choice for the task. Hi All We’re in the process of updating our kitchen/living/diner area and we are installing 6x ceiling mounted speakers (the area is around 80m2). Just curious. I'd like to stream my CD player music to my Play5 + Beam speakers. Normally the CD player is wired to my amplifier which is wired to my DynAudio speakers. No wireless function. Yet Is there a way by using AMP to stream the CD directly to my Sonos speakers? Frankly I doubt there is and if I'm right what are then the benefits of AMP? Thx.

I see Sonos now has ceiling speakers. I have other sonos products, including the sonos connect amp, play 1's, soundbar, etc. My question is if these ceiling speakers can connect to the existing sonos connect amp I already use or do I need another amp for the ceiling speakers? thank you

Hi guys, I've got a pioneer amp with really nice Proac Stereo speakers and a Dali Vokal Centre speaker. I also have pioneer surrounds and a Yamaha Sub. I've just moved into a new apartment and don't want to run cables from the front where the tv/amp/LCR is to the back where the Yamaha sub & Pioneer surrounds are. I already have a Sonos Play 1 and would like to buy a Sonos One and Sub to use as surrounds and sub - how would I be able to use that with my traditional LCR/Amp? It looks like the connect only has a stereo analog in which apparently has a 75ms lag - I use this system to listen to music in Stereo with a sub and watch tv (from Apple TV - hdmi from tv>optical from ATV to amp) in surround sound. Is this possible at all? Maybe with connect and the new Sonos amp I could power the back stereo and sub - again the lag would be a problem. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hey guys, Looking for information and recommendations. I have a open floor plan raised ranch home. The kitchen, living room and dining room are all one large space with vaulted ceilings and I’d like audio in all the spaces as well as potentially outdoors and master bedroom. I like the look of in ceiling speakers and was thinking about the thenos ceiling enclosures. Ultimately I’m looking to have the capability to play audio from tv in the living room when watching tv and only have it broadcast in the living room using the sonos 3.1 or 5.1 setup. But at times, like holiday gatherings or super bowl, could I play music/tv utilizing all speakers (one in kitchen, master bedroom, outdoors even maybe) I know zones are feasible with sonos but can you have multiple zones as well as merging them all together at once? Sorry in advance for the newb question but haven’t been able to find a definitive answer anywhere.

Hi there, I have been searching around for an answer on this, and I am not sure. Help much appreciated. - I already have a good Denon AV Receiver with 5.1 set up. However, I want to have wireless rear speakers - If I buy a Sonos Connect and two Sonos Play:1's can I hook the Sonos Connect to my AV Receiver - And then have the two Play:1s talking to the Sonos Connect so I get true 5.1 sound delivered to the rears wirelessly? - I would also like to have my turntable hooked up to the same Sonos Connect, but I am not sure if I'd be able to do this as well? Hopefully this makes sense! Any help appreciated.

I connected Paybar to TV and two Play:1s in the rear. iPhone music playback I can rattle the walls and music comes out of the rear speakers. But when watch TV I only either hear background noise or none at all. What do I need to buy/connect to my Playbar to get TV voices in the background?

Hi, I am currently opening my own Micro bar. Whilst music wont be the driving force of the pub, it will still be on in the background and want to make sure it sounds great. The size of the room will be approx 580 sq ft. I will be playing off a tablet playing spotify. My question is, would a Sonos play:5 do the job for the entire space or would 2 Sonos Ones in opposite sides of room be better for sound quality? Many thanks in advance!!

Hello I purchased a pair of the Sanus Adjustable Speaker Stands_Sonos One/Play 1/Play 3_to mount a pair of Sonos One's. In the past I'd always gone with Flexson but I decided to give the Sanus brand a go. First impressions: They are well constructed with a weighted base. The adjustable rod is aluminum and the base is covered in a PVC plastic. The cable channel is a tuck n' conceal in the rear of the grooved adjustable rod versus the total conceal pass through of the Flexson brand. There are 3 mounts included_one for each type of Sonos speaker. The Play 1 and Play 3 actually screw into their custom support bracket. The Sonos One sits on a custom piece that slides into the cavity around the power cord where it attaches to the Sonos One base and is held by light padded friction. If you lift the Sonos One it will detach from the support bracket however the tension caused by the cable tuck and friction on the support base prevent the Sonos One from being dislodged by a sim

Hello Sonos people! My current system is a sort of a mess, and I'll do my best to explain it. I really only use it for 2 things, watching TV and whole house tunes when I have company over. I have a Vizio TV in the living room and the sound from the TVs built in speakers are pathetic. So I have it plumbed from my cable box to a basic Sony receiver and listen to 2 Sony speakers wired to that receiver. When I have people over or on the weekend when I want to listen to music, I typically listen to Pandora or Spotify that I airplay through an airport express that is then plumbed to that same Sony receiver and speakers set but I also have prewired outdoor speakers for the patio/ pool area that come from that same receiver. When I have both the outdoor and living room speakers going, the outdoor speakers sound decent enough, but I think the draw kills the power to the living room speakers as they sound like garbage. So, let me explain the situation: I am moving into my new home and plan to place sonos on the ground floor and on the bedroom upstairs. I am currently deciding whether to upgrade my current connect:amp to the new Amp or buy a sub instead. In my living room I currently have the following setup : Music :- Sonos Connect:Amp Mission QX-2 speakers Pro-Ject debut carbon Turntable Movies / TV :- Sonos Beam Play:1 x 2 as surround speakers I am trying to decide if it makes more sense to upgrade to the new amp or get the sub to make a 5.1 system. I have worked out two options Option 1 : Purchase the sub and leave everything as it is. The advantage of the sub for me is that as it is wireless I can hide it pretty much anywhere in the room. Option 2 : Upgrade the amp. If this was the case I would use it also for my home theatre and get rid of the beam and use my current hifi speakers for front left and right channel.
