What to get

Hello, I have a playbase and sub, which I love, but am moving into a new house where the only logical place to put the TV is mounted in the wall. There is no place to put the TV stand it was previously sitting on as there is a fireplace there. I was thinking of getting a beam to mount with the TV and using the playbase elsewhere in the house as a music speaker. Is this possible? If I have a beam attatched to the TV, and a playbase eslewhere in the house that is on the same network, I should still be able to play TV audio through the playbase, correct? I have read that, while there is a difference in audio quality between the beam and the base, that difference is negligible when paired with a sub. It is also a medium size room. Is this true in other people's experience? Has anybody else done this before - repurpose a playbase once it no longer fits? Any clever ideas on where to put it? Presently, I have four outdoor speakers (MARINER 54 😎 wired in parallel. Per the speaker specifications, they are rated at 60 watts maximum. Currently, I have a Sonos Connect:Amp hooked up to them; however, I was curious if I could go up to new AMP to push my volume or would that be blown speakers waiting to happen? From what I have read the parallel configuration might effectively push more wattage due to lowered impedance of speakers in parallel? Just looking for the right answer prior to pulling the trigger on the new Amp.

By "best" I mean stereo separation and the feeling of immersion when playing a DVD or streaming a movie with Dolby 5.1 soundtrack from Fire TV or Chromecast. I have separate speakers for music listening, so that's not important.

I have a newly constructed home where 8 individual speaker wires terminate in a central closet. 4 of those wires run to the living room, 2 to MBR and 2 outside. I have no equipment at the moment other than an Echo. I saw the conversation from a year ago on a similar topic where geo8 provided advice when the user was starting with a Sonos Connect. What Sonos product, AVR, controller and wall mount speakers are recommended for this project from scratch? Please list the equipment. Many thanks!

Hi Sonos-community, I'm currently a BlueSound user (please don't hate), but I find their app and interface more and more annoying, so I'm thinking about replacing my BlueSound Units with Sonos instead. However my setup is different, so I'm in need of some assistance to make sure that I get it right. Living-room: Main units: 65" Sony A1 OLED Marantz SR6011 Media players Apple TV 4K Bluesound Node 2 Toilet Bluesound Pulse Flex Kitchen Bluesound Pulse Mini Streaming services Spotify Youtube (usually streamed Bluetooth as this is not supported in the Bluesound app). QUESTIONS 1) Does Play 1 or 5 support BlueTooth? If not, how can I stream from Youtube and other services to the speaker? 2) I want to be able to use the livingroom as a separate zone and control it through the sonos app. Would I need to buy a Connect to replace the Node 2 to do so? Team, as we host parties and other gatherings outside I simply transport my Play 5 outdoors. Does anyone out here use an enclosure - cabinets, table, stand, for temporary outdoor use that looks neat and clean that you like? (I take it in after every event.)

I have a pair of Bose 251 speakers in my conservatory driven by a Connect Amp situated in the more controlled temperatures in the house. Not strictly an outdoor situation but the temperature in the conservatory can get up to over 40 degrees Celsius. Would I notice any difference if I substituted the Connect Amp for the new Amp, in terms of performance?

Can anyone suggest a suitable Toslink cable to fit the port on the Connect. Nothing I've bought fits securely and drops out!

I'm looking for a wireless multi room setup in a retail environment and could use some advice. There are two adjacent rooms, one is 27' x 25' and the other is 12' x 25'. The ceilings are 9'8" high and the rooms are connected by a 6' doorway. I'll be using Spotify to play ambient background music and occasionally be playing audio from short promo videos on a TV in the store. LARGE ROOM Would you recommend two Sonos Play:5s, or four Sonos Ones? What kind of square footage coverage can I expect from each speaker? SMALL ROOM Would you recommend two Sonos Ones or a single Play:5? TV How can I connect the audio from the TV into the Sonos ecosystem? If I place one of the Play:5s near the TV and ran a 35mm audio cable to it, can I switch the the TV audio input on and off though the Sonos app? Or is there an affordable way to connect it wirelessly? BTW, I haven't bought the TV yet, so if there is a built in audio feature I should look for to achieve this, please let me know.

I am reading a lot about the Play 3 vs the Play 5 in terms of sound quality and user experience. I have read the Play 3s are great, and a little disappointment with the Play 5. I also want to include a sub. For the money and such, which is a better buy? 2 Play 3 or 2 Play 5 with sub? This might seem like a dumb question but i am getting the impression that i can buy 2 Play 3s for the price of 1 Play 5 and, with a sub, get better bass and enjoyment from the 2 Play 3s. Any help? Also, can i connect 2 wireless routers on one network for my single modem and stick a Sonos Boost in a room with a wireless router but no modem? Only 1 model will be used. Thank you.

Hi, I have a 1200 square foot room with 18 foot high ceilings. Two of the walls are all windows. Floor is concrete. It’s a hair salon. Wondering what the best speaker set up would be. Have been considering 4 play one speakers located in each of the four corners of the room, roughly 8 foot up from the floor. Would this be sufficient or should I go for a different configuration. I can’t have a subwoofer due to restrictions. Thanks.

Hey everyone, I am currently getting my house built and I am having it wired up for 1 set of in-wall, 2 sets of in-ceiling, and 1 set of outdoor speakers. My question is, how many Sonos amps should I run? Also with this set up could I run my playbar as a center channel?

Hi, I currently have a very nice 2.1 receiver with 2 paradigm stereo speakers and a powered subwoofer. My problem is listening to movies the dialogue gets lost when listening at lower volumes. I'm thinking of incorporating a Sonos Beam as a center channel by adding hooking up my normal stereo to a Sonos Connect and throwing a beam under my TV. Anybody have any thoughts on opinions on whether this will solve my problem. I also wondering if you can actually configure or tell sonos the the beam is supposed to be a center channel in a configuration like this, or if that even matters. And just to clarify, it doesn't have to act as a center in the pure definition sense of a 5.1 surround, the main goal is to get more clarity in the dialogue.

I want to replace my Sonos system

I'd like to get a 5.1 system but was wondering how well the Play:5 works instead of the Playbar. Hoping to use the Play:5 as a great music source for other times when not watching movies.

Brand new to Sonos, don't own anything of the brand yet. My wife doesn't do streaming, we have ~300 CDs, and she wants a CD Changer/Carousel. We just moved, so I have to rebuild the audio system. Good news is that they still make CD carousels. But I don't really want to invest in another old-school audio system...I'd like to integrate the CD carousel into a Sonos system. What is the best approach? Will a Connect work for this? Or do I need a Connect: Amp? If I want stereo, are two Sonos Ones a good start? thanks for sharing your expertise!

I currently have a pair of CM6 S2s on a Mcintosh c32 and MC2205 with connect. Unfortunately both pieces need to be serviced again (ribbons, caps, ect) and im looking for something with a less upkeep. I love the way the current system sound and was wondering if anyone knows if the new Sonos Amp with the CM6 speakers will sound similar to what iv been listening to. Would 2 play 5s be a significant downgrade or should i give them a go over the amp?

My home entertainment system is very limited: an ultrabook, an iphone that I use as home hotspot (I don't have other internet) and there's an old android tablet somewhere. All my music is stored on at the moment an external USB harddrive. I want to play music in my livingroom from a tiny speaker without having cables all through that room. Is this possible? I need to get a bigger harddisk, thus I could potentially get a wireless one. I want to play whole albums that are stored in the file structure Alphabeth -> band -> album. Would Sonos be a solution for that? I don't want to set up a server at home, build a tiny computer and I don't have the possibility to use anything but my mobile hotspot or have more stuff that needs electricity as I don't have many sockets and don't want to have more extension things in view. My interior design is very airy and simple. No way to hide cables and computer stuff. Thanks for thinking along.

Dear Sonos, At this moment i own a pair of Sonos One speakers which i really love and use almost daily. I want to upgrade to a 5.1 surround set. But im really afraid Sonos will release a new Subwoofer and maybe also surround speakers. Ofcourse i understand why Sonos won't publicly anounce it now but spending +/- €1600 euros now (Full set as i will keep the Ones extra) and see new products this year wont be cool.. Hence my question is, is it "safe" to spend alot of money now, while the sub is getting kinda old.. Also i think the current sub is overkill and too expensive for its function in my house. Hello, I am considering replacing my old classic amplifier+CD+bluetoothReceiver with a Sonos Amp. Since it will be connected to my turntable, it shoul be great. However, apparently I won't be able to listen to my LPs using my headphones, am I right?

I have been away from the forum for a while, but am still looking forward to getting a SONOS. :) I have a question about the digital output and the SONOS volume control. HOw do they interact? I plan for an outboard DAC, and I would like to connect it straight to an amplifer without any kind of preamp if I can get away with it.....is this recommended? Or does the volume control effect the digital signal adversely?

Hi I would like to buy an avr hi-fi 5.1 for my livingroom, where I would connect apple tv, nvidia shield, console and pc, but at the same time, I would like to have the various speakers at home powered by my sonos amp, playing audio from apple tv, nvidia shield or pc. How should i connect all my sonos amp to avr? whereas all the HDMI port will be used by the various devices. Or do you recommend creating a 5.1 system with sonos? at the same time how would I connect the various devices to sonos beam? Thx so much at everyone for help

I was thinking of upgrading my old surround system. I would like some nice quality and also a very minimal and "clean" setup. I was thinking about buying the new sonos amp, then a pair of the kef q350 as the front speakers and a pair of sonos ones as rear speakers. Then later on possibly a sub, was thinking of the REL T7i. But in a year or so. Would this setup be worth it or what do you audiophiles think?
