What to get

Hi everyone, I need advice on a living room setup to be used for both music and home theater. I do have some nice bookshelf speakers that I’d like to incorporate somehow in the setup. So basically I’m considering two options: Amp with my existing speakers hooked up to TV as front and two Ones for surround Beam for TV, Connect for the bookshelf speakers (they come with an amplifier so Connect would be enough) and two Ones for surround. Now, for the second option – is it possible to group them all together and use both for home theater and music? How would Connect fit in? If not, can I have two groups in the same room, one for home theater (Beam + Ones), the other for music (Connect + Ones) and would it be possible to use a single pair of Ones in two groups without a need to group and ungroup them every time? It seems the Amp might be better as an all-round solution but I’d miss out on some features like voice control or speech enhancement. But I guess my main concern is easy swit

I am new to sonos but before I buy I wanted to understand if I can connect some oldish Beolab 6000 speakers in to the sonos setup and if it is possible what do I need to purchase?

Hi all - I have a wired speaker system in my house currently - Sony receiver and Polk speakers - two floor speakers, one center channel, and one subwoofer. I’m looking into getting the Sonos Amp, primarily so that I can utilize my existing setup and add wireless outdoor speakers for my patio. My thought was that with the Sonos amp, I would no longer need my Sony receiver. However, it looks like the Sonos amp only has inputs for front speakers and sub - nothing for a center channel. So if I replace my receiver with Sonos, do I lose the center channel? And is there any point to keeping the Sony receiver if I get Sonos? Thanks!

Hello...I'm in the market for a projector, tower speakers, and the new Sonos Amp. I plan on the Amp powering the front towers and, initially, using my play 1's and sub for the remainder of the 4.1. Has anyone completed this setup? I'm trying to avoid any lipsync issues. Also, the content provider will be a PS4 and AppleTV.

I would like to ask you which outdoor speakers do you recommend for a small patio/pool 380 sqft. Im thinking on buying at the beginning a pair of Klipsch AW-650 and in the future increase the setup to 4. Any comments about these Klipsch and the Sonos AMP? or is there any recommendation of a different brand/model of speakers? Thanks in advance for your support. Jorge

Hi went to look for Speakers for Ceiling the other day. Was recommended some BW speakers ccm382 for my kitchen. He also recommended backbox for these speakers Does Sonos also need these boxes?

So, I'm seriously considering diving in to the world of Sonos, but I'm interested in how to go about hooking up the equipment I already have. What I have as sources currently: Marantz CD6006 CD Player Audio-Technica AT-LP5 with phono pre-amp built in These are both currently connected to a Marantz NR1608 integrated amplifier/receiver. I want to be able to play both CD's and vinyl through the Sonos system. I'm thinking of starting with 2 Play:5 speakers as my main living room experience, and a couple of Play:1's in some of the other rooms, maybe a Beam hooked up to the TV in the master bedroom as well. I do use streaming services (Spotify, Rhapsody, Slacker, etc.) but I do love the experience of physical media 🤓 and we have a lot of CDs and vinyl. How do I hook up the CD player and the vinyl turntable? I'd like to do it as simply as possible, so if that means removing the Marantz NR1608 amplifier from the setup I'm okay to do that, I can "donate" it to one of my kids. I though

I moved into a home where they had previously installed by Bose 4 outdoor speakers and 4 indoor surround sound speakers into the ceiling. They all run at 4-8 ohms ea... I know that its possible to run 4 speakers onto an amp, but the speakers HAVE to be 8 Ohms to do this (my understanding). My problem is whats the most cost effective solution while still maintaining a good sounding set-up? Do I have to buy 2 Amps for indoors and 2 for outdoors (with only 2 speakers connecting to each)? or am in the clear in connecting 4 to each since the speakers have a range of ohms from 4-8? My preference would be to just buy all sonos, but since the indoors are already mounted and the sonos have to be plugged in, I'd need an installer/electrician to come out. I'd prefer to avoid that since I'd have the additional cost of needing to buy new speakers as well.

Hi folks, I’ve had a look around on the forums for an answer to this, but couldn’t find one to a similar issue. I’m looking to replace my very old stereo amp and bookshelf speakers with a Sonos Beam to connect to my TV, with potentially a couple of One’s for rears and a Sub down the road. I have some vinyl and I’d like to hook up a turntable (and preamp if necessary) at some point as well. Is it possible to connect the turntable to a Sonos Amp and use that with the other Sonos speakers above? i.e. no external/ third-party speakers wired to the Amp? Would I add the Amp to the existing room, or create a new room and group the two whenever I want to listen to vinyl? Is there any way to only play vinyl through the Beam to get a (more or less) stereo sound, or will the vinyl effectively play in 5.1? I know a Sonos Connect is probably the more suitable option here, but frankly it doesn’t look as nice as the Sonos Amp! Thanks for your help.

Hi, Just looking for some advice about the Sonos Play:1 (Gen 1). There are some quite attractable deals on these speakers at the minute on Amazon. Having looked on a deals website, I've noticed several people mentioning the Gen 1 is not compatible with Apple Music due to 'Airplay 2'? My intention is to purchase three speakers, one for the living room, kitchen and bedroom. I would like to use my Apple Music membership and, have the ability to stream music to one room at a time or to all rooms (with the same music) however, I'm told via a deals forum this cannot be done, only via the Gen 2. Is this correct before I lose out on the deal? Thanks for the help! Antony

Hi there. I'm about to buy my first Sonos speakers and am wondering about the best setup for my L-shaped living/kitchen area. It's not a huge space so I don't want to go overboard, but still want the best sound possible for up to around EUR 1.000. I have Amazon Echo already so don't need integrated Alexa. If possible, I'd like to hook it up to the TV too. I was thinking about: i) One Play 5 ii) Two Play 3s (set up in stereo for the living, area) plus a Play 1 for the kitchen area iii) One sub plus three Play 1s; two set up in stereo in the living area and the third one for the kitchen area Which option is better ? Or is there a different, better configuration that I've not considered ? Thanks so much for your comments.

Hi there - it's time to upgrade my TV from the current Sony Bravia 32". Is anyone aware of any issues or tricky bits with either of the TVs in the title of this post? I have 2 rooms and want to put the 55" in one and 65" in the other. In both I have brand new Subwoofers and 2 x Play:1's, and in the room getting the 55" Bravia I also have a new Playbar. I will buy another Playbar for the room getting the 65" Vizio PQ. Music is playing well, but I could not get the optical out on my current 32" Bravia to work with my new Playbar, and I've read several comments about audio dropouts with other Bravia models so I'm a little concerned. Hi folks yesterday morning my phone (android, 8.1.0) gave up connecting to SonosNet. Kept trying to connect and not getting an IP address. I tried some stuff, including resetting everything but now although the info tells me all my boxes are on WM0 (ie wired) and I'm on Sonosnet channel 1, the phone doesn't see the SSID, nor does my wifi analyser see anything on channel 1 - nor anything that corresponds to sonosnet. I have a newish Boost wired to the router, a couple of Play:1s, a Play:5, a couple of connect:amps and a connect. Can anyone help please? It's irritating because the sonosnet mesh system gets me so much better wifi coverage for the phone etc than relying on the router. cheers Dick

I am in the process of reviewing and purchasing a whole home mesh Wifi system. What does/doesn’t work with Sonos? Anyone have a suggestion or successful install?

Been starting to see more post about Mesh Wifi system. Google wifi, Netgear Orbi, Asus Lyra, Linksys Velop, TP Link Deco , Samsung Home Connect, and D Link Covr just name a few. They all make the home wifi work way better in most cases, by getting rid of dead zone. And greatly increase the coverage area, especially helpful to large homes. But as I read more on sonos forums, that there are issue at times with the new systems and Sonos. And most of the Mesh wifi kits out there seem to have talking away a lot of useful feature found on a traditional router. Except for D-Link and Asus, you seem really limited to 1 ethernet port on the main puck/unit. And as I have been informed recently sonos works best if it is connected to the main unit with google wifi. So the question is, minus the D-Link and Asus options. Is the lost of some router configuration option ie dual wan ability, lost of USB support and lost of multiple ethernet port in one location, a fair trade off for the i

Hello sonos community, appreciate some help/advice with my setup. We just moved into a new house that has an existing sonos system. Owners before us powered in ceiling systems throughout the house (bedroom, living room, kitchen, basement) using 3 connect:amps, all of which were left for us. I’m trying to figure out the best way to complete the living room setup to use for TV surround as well as music. Right now in the living room is 2 in ceiling speakers connected to a connect:amp. I want to complete the setup. It is a large open room with vaulted ceilings so will need something with decent power. The TV will be mounted over a fireplace which is in the center back of the room, and seating will be arranged in front of the fireplace with a left and right couch and 2 chairs facing the fireplace/TV. My thoughts were Option 1: Buy a playbar to connect to TV for front use existing 2 ceiling speakers for rears powered by connect:amp Option 2: Buy a sonos amp to connect to TV and power 2

Need someone to validate this setup if possible! I currently have a Sonos Beam (connected to a TV by HDMI arc) and a pair of bluetooth headphones i love. I've been gifted some records - and i'd like to integrate a record player into my setup. My plan: Buy a record player. Connect to a phono preamp (if one isn't already in the record player) Connect that to a Sonos Connect (so the record player can be played through the Beam) Connect a bluetooth transmitter to the Sonos Connect (so i can choose to listen on my headphones instead of the Beam) Will that work? Can i sync the Sonos Connect with the Beam AND connect a bluetooth transmitter? is there a better approach?

Hey, was thinking about getting an Amp and would like to get a new pair of speakers and a sub in the near future. I'm really into the kef q350 and the Svs sb1000. But I'm up for suggestions. Would like to spend around 500-750 on the speakers and around the same amount on the sub. What do you guys think? Thanks

So i'm about to purchase a system and was curious on the best way to optimize my set up affordably. What i'm wanting is a soundbar for the inside (living room) and 2 outdoor speakers for my patio; all obviously linked to my tv. Thoughts: Can I purchase a beam for inside (medium sized room) which connects to my amp (along with tv), and have an outdoor speaker pair connect to the amp as well? Just want to connect the 3 speakers in easiest way possible. I haven't purchased anything yet. I also have a PS4 i'd like to link up somehow as well.. Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated!

Hello, I was wondering i want to set up a playbar with 2 play 1's do i need to also purchase a bridge or boost?

I am planning an outdoor living room that will be covered and screened. I love in Houston so regardless of the shelter from elements, humidity is a huge issue so I’m not going to put a playbar outside. Therefore I want to have a television supported by Sonos outdoor speakers. I want four speakers in the room to insure enough sound for when we have parties at the house. Can I configure the Sonos amp to play tv audio through four outdoor speakers and then switch to music when required? Is there a more efficient/higher quality configuration?
