went to look for Speakers for Ceiling the other day. Was recommended some BW speakers ccm382 for my kitchen. He also recommended backbox for these speakers Does Sonos also need these boxes?

Sonos doesn't make any in-ceiling speakers.
They do partner with a company named Sonance, and sell the Sonance speakers on the Sonos website. But the Sonos Amp, made by Sonos, would power any matching impedance in-ceiling speakers, from any company.
I'd imagine that any in ceiling speaker would benefit from a "backbox", to help direct the sound.
