What to get

Hello everyone, I have been eyeing the Sonos Arc for a few weeks now, and after much research, I have come to the conclusion that my TV (an LG B8) should work, and I am close to pulling the trigger. There is however one thing holding me back. I have read that in order to get the best performance from the Arc, you should ideally have a relatively square small living room, and I have…not quite that. So I was hoping to get a sense of, how well the Sonos Arc would work in my living room which is on these pictures below. Can I expect the surround effect to work reasonably well, or will the height of the ceiling and size of the room swallow the sound?I have two spare Play:1’s, which I plan to use as rear speakers, but due to the price-tag, I plan to hold off on the Sub for now. Thank you so much in advance for your input - I really appreciate it/Rasmus    

I am thinking of getting an arc. I also want a sub but need to parse my purchases, plus I live in a small apartment and need to be conscious of bass.I have two ones. will I have surround sound with this setup?How would this work with an Apple TV and a projector? Currently the Apple TV feeds to my projector via hdmi.  keeping it short, I can give more details if needed. Thanks!

So, I am in the process of replacing my Theater Room TV with a 65” TV that is eARC compatible. Any lists or recommendations on a tv that will fit the bill as I am reading all this confusion on what TVs can and can’t do what (that’s more of an aside). I am trying to configure my needs and what I can use with my existing system and what to add. Right now, a 5.1 non-Sonos system: 10 yr old Denon receiver powering front floor speakers, a center channel, a non-Sonos Sub and ceiling rear speakers. My question is can I just get an Arc for front/center and then an Amp for existing rears and sub? is that what makes the most sense as I am guessing my standard front/center speakers can’t just change out the receiver? Love Sonos, too many products everywhere else it’s just that this was an only system integrated in and was waiting for this announcement to figure out what direction to go.

I’m mostly new to Sonos (I have the Move) and I’m looking to replace my existing living room setup with something that’s compatible for a multiroom setup in the future. Right now I have my xbox, chromecast, etc hooked up to my receiver and the TV’s ARC HDMI going into the receiver as well so I can play the smart apps through it. From the digging I’ve done I see I need either a Five, Play:5, Amp, or Port for the turntable. I’ve ruled out the Five/Play:5 for a variety of reasons and I think the right move for my room is Amp/Port, Arc/Beam, and either two Symfonisk bookshelf speakers or One SLs. Can someone help me understand how the Port would work in conjunction with the Arc/Beam here? I’d connect the Port output to the turntable and then the input to the receiver via RCA again. I see the setup instructions for the soundbars are to plug it into the TV’s ARC HDMI port and this is where I get kinda lost. Would that still be necessary with the Sonos Port? I am looking at the Patio/Garden series and had a few questions,Are the Patio satellite speakers the same as the Garden?I assume I need to get a connect or something similar to fold into my other sonos system, correct?If I am wanting to listen to what is on the outdoor TV, do I just connect the optical out from the TV to the optical in on the amp? and will i be able to pair that with other connects i have throughout the house?I have noticed some of Patio versions on sale and could get two of them for the price of one Garden, bonus would be an extra sub, but getting back to my outdoor TV sound question, would I be able to pair the two Patios connects together to listen to what is on the outdoor tv. Thanks! 

My system currently consists of a Synology NAS + [Sonos Connect + Lindemann DAC + Creek Destiny amplifier] + B&W CM7. I am thinking of going minimalist by replacing three components in the bracket with a Sonos Amp. I know that specs-wise the Sonos Amp is powerful enough to drive my CM7, but I am not quite sure of its musicality, i.e. sound stage, balance, details, etc. when compared with my DAC & Destiny setup. I have read the forum and found a few reviews on Sonos Amp and floorstanders but it does not seem to be a very popular setup. Any insight and experience on this matter is much appreciated.

I currently have a Arc, Sub Gen3, Pair of Sonos One 5.1.2 home theater setup. Wondering if I should switch the rear speakers to Sonos Five speakers? Would it enhance the home theater experience or would it be a overkill? I am willing to pay the extra money for Sonos Five as long as it enhances the experience by a considerable amount. Also, 2nd part of my question is if I do use Sonos Five as rear speakers and stream music to this system, does the music that come out of Sonos five, Sub Gen 3 (and arc sound bar) will be same as if I had a 2.1 system with Sonos five and Sub gen 3 or since this is in home theater setup, music experience is difference from standalone 2.1 system built with these same products. Note: My question is after changing the setting in Arc home theater system to play full music in rear speakers instead of using it as ambient speakers

Away to take the plunge with arc and sub for tv but enjoy stereo music also so was thinking of fives for rear & stereo use, is this possible or is arc good enough with ones for music and rears also without fives what’s best way to connect turntable

How do they compare? I’ll buy an Arc if bass is good as HomePod. have a small studio apt, don’t want a subwoofer.

We just moved into a new home. In the living room, there are two in-wall front speakers, two in ceiling speakers, and an in-wall sub (5 speaker surround sound home theater). The system was installed around 2005. There are also two wired outdoor speakers. The previous owner has all the inputs ready for banana plugs in one location. He must have had a receiver and amp.I would like to be able to use my Sonos app to control the sound of these 5 home theater speakers (including sub) when I buy and hook up a new TV, and also control the two outdoor speakers. I have other Sonos speakers in other rooms in the house.Is there any way to do this? I don’t want the pre-existing in wall home theater speakers or outdoor speakers to go to waste.Thank you for any advice or suggestions!

Hi everyone, I got the Arc a few days ago, I have issues with bass and to round this up I am not so impressed with the product especially at this price point. I still have my Beam but I never quite liked it, especially for music. I am considering getting the Playbar, I know it sounds backwards but I cannot play Dolby Atmos content, only 5.1 so I wanted to ask Playbar and Arc owners their opinions. Before the Arc comes out the Playbar was unanimously better than the Beam in terms of sound. What I would love to know is if the Arc is much better than the Playbar on its own and if it is noticeably better in a home theatre set up with Sonos ones + Sub? How is the dialogue on the Playbar compared to the Arc? Again I am not so much interested in the Atmos side of things, only music and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks.   I really appreciate your help, cheers!

I want to buy a Sonos Move and a bluetooth turntable. I was considering a Cambridge Audio Alva TT or a Yamaha Musicast Vinyl 500 Can anyone confirm that either of these are compatible with a Sonos Move or suggest a better turntable alternative.

Greetings everyone, Looking for some guidance on outdoor speaker set-up.  We’re building a boathouse on the Lake and wanted to leverage the Sonos/Sonance outdoor speaker system for audio.  We we’re considering using the Sonance Mariner Speaker set plus the Sonos Connect Amp, but have since seen that Sonos has their own “Sonos Architectural Outdoor Speaker” package as well, that was built in collaboration with Sonance, and powered by the Sonos Amp. Not sure if there’s an advantage between the two setups but any guidance would be helpful. Our overall approach for the boathouse is to install 4 speakers in the boat house and wire them back to the boathouse bar area to connect to the Sonos Connect Amp. Each speaker will be about 75-120’ away from the Sonos Amp and thinking of using an outdoor 12 gauge speaker wire.  We’re contemplating using an enclosure for the Sonos Amp to help mitigate heat/water exposure.  We’ll also install an outdoor TV at the bar area with a Sonos Soundbar.  I think

Since Sonos doesn't offer/recommend one, i'm wondering if the retrofit enclosures made for the Sonance medium-round (model VP64R) could work - https://www.sonance.com/in-wall-in-ceiling/visual-performance/accessories/round-squareretrofitenclosures   I’m certainly open to any other recommendations for existing enclosures/back-boxes that would fit.  

I know Sonos says the new Sonos five “offers the same listening experience as the play:5gen2”   to my mind this is not the same as saying they sound the same. Have they improved the audio?    I doubt they are exactly the same acoustically. The play 1 and Sonos one sound different despite being told they are the same. Doesn’t matter if they use the same drivers, even a change in weight to the product will alter the sound. 

Hi Everyone!Somewhat of a Sonos Beginner but not a total newbie.  I’ve had a Sonos Playbar for a while but it’s time to upgrade my setup to match my LG C9 77” OLED.  So I’m looking to upgrade my existing setup in our Family Room but also wanted to add outside speakers and add a TV to our patio.  Here’s what I’m thinking:Family Room -  LG C9 w/ Apple TV 4K Replacing Playbar with Sonos Arc Adding Sonance In-Ceiling Speakers with new Sonos AMP to serve rear speakers Eventually will add Sonos Sub Outdoor Area -  New TV with Apple TV 4K Pair of Klipsch or Polk Outdoor Speakers hardwired into a 2nd Sonos AMP (both AMPs placed in same location) From what I understand, I will need 2 stand-alone AMPs to create the multi-room/zone I want.  My questions to my proposed setup and what I hope to be able to accomplish is the following:Be able to watch movies/TV in my family room with all inside speakers going (not Outdoor Zone) At times, have the ability to stream and play the same source/music

My new home living room is 15’ x 20’ and 10’ highThe ceiling has been pre-holed and pre-wired for 5 speakers (3 ceiling holes near the Tv and 2 in back)The Tv will be the new LG GX frame model and a Sonos Arc or Beam would not be suitable on the wall.All the sound will be coming from the 5 ceiling speakers and I’d also like to use the speakers for stereo music listening, when not watching TV.I plan on purchasing:5 InCeiling Sonance1 Sonos AmpQuestions:Will the TV sound right (especially dialogue) without a Sonos Arc or Beam? Will I get stereo sound with a 5 speaker array or does the center speaker have to be turned off?Do you have any other suggestions?

or is there anything i can buy that will  replicate surround sound on my sonas arc soundbar , as at the moment bbc channels and itv etc just play in stereo.                                              i would appreciate any help  or advice as to what to buy ..

I’m buying the Sonance Patio 4.1, which has 4 outdoor satellite speakers and 1 subwoofer, the package comes optional with the SR2-125 amp . If I get this kit I would still need to purchase the Sonos Port to connect it to the rest of my home system….or could I simply replace the sr2-125 with the Sonos Amp?that would save me about 500$,  however the guy at the audio store said that although it’s compatible he would definitely not recommend replacing the sr2-125 with a Sonos Amp.any thoughts?

Hi all,I am looking to connect my Ti Phono SB Turntable to my Sonos Play1 speakers. I understand that there is no wifi connection so I have to go through a Sono Play 5 or an external amp.If I connect the turntable to my old Marantz amp and the amp to Sonos Port, will I be able to use my Sonos Play 1 speakers? Thanks,M
