Voice control and smart home

I am trying to connect my Play 1 to the Alexa services.Alexa can see the Room, but not the device, nothing seems to allow the app to discover the Sonos Play 1.I have reset and rebooted, checked the software, the Sonos is working through traditional apps and services fine, but the alexa just cannot find it.What could i be missing?When i scan for the speaker, it finds a plug that is not in service - no idea why, but i have tried to search repetitively without success.The play 1 is on the same network as the alexa dot… i feel like i MUST be missing something…The skills to play have been enabled, the room is known to alexa but there are no speakers, i am getting desperate!Please any help would be great.Alexa not discovering my Sonos Play:1 | Sonos CommunitySimilar, to this, but resolution seems unclear

When are we getting Google Assistant on the Era 100. I have 15 Sonos devices throughout my home and a whole smart home network with Google Assistant. I was so excited when I got two new Era 100s  for Christmas to replace some older Sonos Ones but fun fact they no longer work with Google Assistant. In what universe do new products have less features? I am so disappointed because I now have to have an extra Sonos One to control the rest of my smart home (AC, lights, etc.) and play YouTube Music which you can’t get via Alexa. Feels like a miss. -_-

I’m trying to get my Google assistant to play well with my Sonos. I have a Nest Mini and a Symfonisk bookcase speaker in my home office. I’ve linked Sonos to my google assistant. I’ve placed the symfonisk in the same room as my nest mini, and I’ve set the symfonisk to be the default device for playback of music. The problem I have is that I will regularily be told that “Sorry, that mode isn’t available” for quite a few commands. For instance “Play music by Birdy” or “Play music by Birdy on Spotify” always fails with this message. Other commands such as “Play music by Linkin Park” allows my nest to start the music on my symfonisk, however, sometimes it will tell me something went wrong, despite the fact that nothing went wrong, and music is indeed playing. Other commands such as volume up and down almost always seem to work. Personally, I’m hoping sonos starts selling a small usb-powered microphone that people can place in rooms with Sonos devices that don’t have a microphone. Alexa announcements generated from Alexa routines do not work on my Sonos One (2nd Gen). Although, announcements do work from voice activated commands.Announcement through routines also seem to work fine on Beam and Arc, it's just my Ones that it does not work. Confirmed the Ones have alexa setup properly.This was a previous tropic, but that topic was closed, and no resolutions were provided. So, I’m re-opening this issue. Over the past few weeks, I noticed my Sonos speaker with Google Assistant is not registering commands to control music. I can ask Google to play music and ask what music is playing, but when I ask it to stop music, it says no music is playing. I deregistered Sonos from the Google app and unlinked Spotify and then set everything up again, but this didn’t work. I think there’s a bug with either Google Assistant or Spotify, but I think it’s Spotify. Also having the same issue with the Amazon Alexa voice. Only thing that’s working is the Sonos voice. Anyone else experiencing this?

Sonos, when are you/BBC/Google going to fix this ridiculous issue? I can see posts about this from over 12 months ago!Surely between the 3 of these huge businesses you can fix this minor issue? Or do you just take our money and then ignore us when we have any issues? 

Hoi, ik heb (1xSub/ 2x One S2 / Arc gen2. Voorheen gebruikten we een Playbar deze is nu vervangen door de Arc. Voorheen als er op de Nest doorbel werd gedrukt kwam er door een van de One speaker een melding. Nu is het zo dat de ARC(volgens Sonos )de master is en het geluid via hem komt. Alleen is het nu zo dat als er word aangebeld de volume van de Nestdoorbel niet correct is.Wat gebeurt er dan:-staat de tv uit en belt er iemand aan dan loopt alles goed i.o.v. het geluid. Als daarna de tv word aangezet schiet het geluid van 15 naar 70%-zitten we gewoon tv te kijken en er belt iemand aan, dan schiet het geluid weer naar 70%.We hebben gebeld met de klantenservice van Sonos, en voor hun ie de makkelijks manier hierin "stuur maar terug naar Polen". My default music service is Amazon Music and when I ask the Sonos voice assistant to play or shuffle a playlist with 200+ songs and then look at the queue in the app, there are only 100 songs in queue. If I start the playlist through the Sonos app and check the queue I see the full list (200+ songs).  Is there some setting I am missing? 

This is a reoccurring problem recently after a few years of no (few...) issues with the set-up. I have a SONOS one in the Kitchen and a SONOS playbase with Play 1 surrounds in the living room connected to the TV. I use Google Assistant (which is pretty crap at the best of times). If I say something simple like “Ok google, play” the light flashes and nothing happens, if I then manually press the play button on the speaker or the app it works. If I then say “ok google, stop” it then says “something went wrong in the living room”, if I try to turn the music up it just does it on the TV in the other room. I’ve reset the system, I’ve partially reset the system, I’ve rebooted the router and nothing works, the best that’s happened is that it temporarily goes back to normal before reverting again after a few days (and with no option changing). I’ve looked for previous subjects without success. Cheers

I have two Sonos One and a Sonos Beam. Before when all three units were separate, I could turn on the microphone function on any one of them, but ever since I attempted to setup surround sound, I’ve lost microphone function on all three units. I’ve since disconnected them, but still can’t get the microphone to work. I’ve searched the community and only found solutions to Alexa. Please help. Thanks!

Hello,I have two Sonos Ones that I have now added as a stereo pair.  This seems to work great except for one thing.If I use an Alexa skill, the output only seems to come out of one speaker.  For example, if I open the Face the Music skill, I only hear the skill from one of the speakers.I believe that if I have a pair of Echo Dots then the skills will work in stereo, although I haven't enough dots to try this myself.Should Sonos be able to do the same thing or is it always limited to a single speaker for this kind of thing?I should say that I have enabled Alexa on both speakers.Ideally I would want Alexa to treat the 2 Ones as a single stereo device.

Sonos, After all this waiting. And after multiple articles. And after multiple phone calls to your service reps (including today), I’m now being told that you cannot group your Sonos system devices with your Google Home devices (after being told for months and more than a year that the aid be able to group them). Even the rep I spoke with today tried to help me and didn’t find out it wasn’t possible until he spoke to a system engineer. You can do it with Amazon devices, but STILL not with Google devices In all honesty, what is the point of adding Google assistant to Sonos if you can’t even use Sonos speakers with Google Speakers together in a group? It’s pretty useless for me to be in living room, have to get up and walk to my kitchen to say “hey google, play x in my Living Room” and then walk back.

Dear community members,I’m living in a 2 floor house in wich I have several SONOS system. Same Wifi available on the 2 floors.1st floor : ARC, SUB, 2 One + 1 One in the kitchen. ARC + kitchen are connected to ALEXA2nd floor : 1 Move connected to Alexa, 1 ONE connected to ALEXA, 2 “old” ONE (not connected because not possible when they were launched) When I’m in a room in which the SONO is connected to Alexa and request Alexa to lauch radio or Music, Music starts in another room sometimes on the other floor ! I get crazy ! And often when I then request to stop, ALEXA doesn’t understand or stops music on another SONO.Another frequent issue : when I ask a question to ALEXA, it takes sometime more then 30 seconds to get an answer, often nothing happens ! More then one year ago, I never faced these issues, even with the same configuration !Does someone face the same issue ?

I’m about to install Logitech Circle View Doorbell and Camera. I’d like to utilize one or more of my Sonos One Speakers through AirPlay on Apple HomeKit. Is this possible?  I’d like to avoid buying Apple’s Home Hub. 

I just started with sonos ones (5x) coming from Alexa speakers.Immediately I hit this problem that the volume of alexa is the volume of sonos.That way alexa is unusable when the volume of the sonos is low. It is just impossible to hear the reply from Alexa.When music is playing round 2-6% alexa ls response is not hearable.Please can this be separately splitted?

I am using Amazon music (with arc home theater - arc, 2x era 300, sub 3) and if I start a playlist with Alexa, I don't see the music quality in the Sonos App (HD, Dolby, etc).  If start the same playlist through the Sonos Assistant (or app), I see the quality in the app. Questions: 1. Is the quality the same when starting a playlist through Alexa or is it better to start the playlist through the Sonos Assistant?2. Will music play in Dolby quality when starting from Alexa?  If so, is there a way to tell?  Thanks

Microphone light won’t work 

Hey everyoneI Know there was a way to set google assistant on not supported countries by changing in the sonos account a supported country such as the UK or US  and adding zip code but it seems that no longer works.I see in the app the option for the assistant but during setup it can’t find the sonos speaker, was something changed? 

I have a sonos beam and sonos roam. When I use Alexa it hears the commend and says it will play bbc sounds but never actually plays anything. With Spotify, it asks me to log in on the device on my phone and connect to the speaker, which I do but still doesn’t work when I go to voice commands. Anyone else having the same issue or know how to fix this?

Hi, I have Apple Music and my own curated library of albums in my Apple Music Library (ie with tracks I don’t like removed). I can get the Sonos app to play albums on Apple Music via voice control, but I can’t find a way to get voice control to play albums from my Apple Music Library. Can anyone help?

On google branded and other google speakers, there is a volume control for googles response, separate from the volume of the device. Is that possible with Sonos 1, or is it just controlled by overall volume?

What’s the Alexa command to play music that is already playing in another room to play on an Alexa enabled speaker in the room I’m currently in?

So I just got an Arc, along with the Sub and surrounds. This is first week I’m using it.  I’m amazed I don’t see this more often on these threads, am I the only one whose Sonos Voice Control goes in and out? I have gone through three straight conversations with customer service the last three days about this, and no resolution. They get close but no cigar and tweaked a bunch of settings. I assume the microphone light should always be on so it can always hear your wake up command, but often it turns off, even when it’s playing music. They’ve tried everything. I’ll give it another day and then plan to get it replaced. Overall I think the system is really cool, but this is starting to get annoying. 

With apologies in advance since this topic has been addressed before…It is my understanding that Alexa can only be linked to Sonos in one location at time. So if we have a primary and secondary residence, when I travel to the secondary residence and try to use Alexa on Sonos there, I will have to unlink it from my primary residence. A workaround suggested was to set up a new Amazon account, but I don’t think this is possible since Amazon now requires a phone number for a new account. And you cannot use the same phone number for two different accounts. When I chatted with Sonos support today about this, this is what I was told: “There is no need to disable the Sonos skill when you want to use the second system.”Am I missing something? Can I now use Alexa on Sonos in both locations without having to disable one?Thanks.
