Was looking to incorporate in wall subwoofers throughout my home. I will have several rooms with ARC playbar and sonos amp powering the in ceiling speakers. It’s my understanding that if amp is not front speakers then you can not use third party sub? You have to use sonos sub?
I have the S2 app and the “podcasts and shows” filter just isn’t there anymore. Anyone else have this issue? I’ve tried deleting the app and reloading it, system reset, and I am perplexed. I thought maybe it was no longer available but I checked in with a buddy of mine and the filter was available on his app. We both have iPhones, though not the same year. Does anyone know the fix for this?
I miss the width of the Arc. Can I add two One as front speakers?
I see that this has been requested many times before but I hope this feature is added soon. My son keeps enabling night mode at night while playing video games and the next day it stays activated without any of us noticing it still on. It is hard to believe that this would be difficult to implement. At least notify the user that the mode is on flashing the light after a set amount of time.
Simple question. Is the Zone 2 analogue out on my Yammy AVR the same as tape out on old stereo amplifiers? I was hoping to connect Zone 2 out to my Sonos Connect inputs and then stream whatever my AVR is playing to my Play 3 and Play 5. If that is a goer what will control the volume on the Play 3/5? The AVR or Sonos App? It’s a Yamaha RX-A2A.
hi,just want to share my finding in case anyone meet the same issue. My setup:i have a PC and sonos on the same network, firewall disabled from both PC and router.I also added sonos app to allowed app and what not on my pc.I’m able to access my shared music folder from my phone on the same network. background:I’m a senior java developer :)i tried to add 2 network folder as music folders, got a bit inpatient and try to add both folder at the same time without giving time for the sonos desktop app to index finish the first. discovery:i found that i hit an error and wasnt able to add both folder at all.i tried reinstall app but still wont work. solution:i found that if i try to add another folder, i was able to.Hence, i begin to suspect that the folder path was saved somewhere and wasnt deleted and resulted in duplicate of path. I went ahead to change my music folder name from music to music1 and suddenly it works. i did the same to my other music folder and it works perfectly.in case you
I have an Arc, Sub and SL’s for my set up and am now using an HDFury Arcana where my PS5 is the source. I can get Dolby Atmos via Bitstream when using the PS5 Blu-ray player and if I fiddle with the output setting in the PS5, I can get PCM 7.1 showing up in the Sonos app. What I’m trying to work out, given the limitations of the PS5, is what the best Audio settings set up is? I want to try and get the least compressed audio through to my Sonos Arc whilst keeping the benefits of Dolby Atmos and am struggling to understand if I’m better off having Dolby Atmos show up in the Sonos app, or if PCM 7.1 is the way to go. Is PCM 7.1 uncompressed better than Dolby Atmos? or should I just stick with Bitstream Dolby Atmos? If anyone knows what I should be doing to get the best audio out of my PS5 into my Sonos Arc (via an HDFury) i’d be very grateful to know. My TV does not have eArc and I’ve connected the HDFury to the TV’s ARC (HDMI2 on my Panasonic TV).
My setup:Sonos Arc + Sub (Gen 3) + Play:1s Panasonic ST60 Plasma (2013) with HDMI ARC HDFury Arcana eARC Adapter Panasonic UB820 UHD Blu-ray PlayerWhen watching DTS-encoded Blu-rays, I have always set my Panasonic UHD player to convert DTS to PCM so the Arc would output DTS audio as “Multichannel PCM 7.1”. This has worked great. Today, I set the DTS setting on the UHD player to Bitstream instead of PCM with the expectation of getting Stereo PCM audio from the Arc (since Sonos still doesn’t support DTS audio). But to my surprise, the Sonos app still reported “Multichannel PCM 7.1”.Has it always been this way? Has it been this way since the multichannel LPCM update last November and I just never noticed it because I kept the UHD setting on DTS to PCM? Or has there been a recent update that allows the Arc to take the bitstream DTS signal and do the DTS to LPCM conversion on its own?
Hi all after some advice.I currently have the following home theatre setupArcSub 2x play 1I am now looking to upgrade to either Two sonos 5 to replace the play 1sOr A second sub Any advice on what would be the better option?Update notes sorry adding more to the storyI mainly use for movies I run a 4k bluray player and still buy movies in 4k. I am trying to work out with the Dolby Atmos if I will get more benefit out of the 5s or a second sub
Hi All,Hoping some could help me. I haven't been able to find a concrete answer.I want to ‘stream’ vinyl from my turntable to my Apple HomePods. Not the Mini’s, but the large first gen HomePods. From what I can tell, they are Airplay 2 compatible. I have added the Sonos AMP into Homekit (Home app) on my iPhone. My current setup is: Phono/Line out from the turntable into my Sonos AMP. Considering the Sonos AMP is Airplay 2 compatible, along with my HomePods, I thought the Sonos App would find my HomePods. This however, doesn’t seem to be the case. Am I missing something, or is my logic of the Sonos AMP ‘seeing’ my HomePods something it cannot do?Any information would be very welcome!
I am a new Sonos user. I have 4 B&W in-ceiling speakers and a Sonos amp. Am I able to add the Sonos sub without adding another amp? Thanks in advance!
Announcement: https://www.apple.com/ca/newsroom/2021/05/apple-music-announces-spatial-audio-and-lossless-audio/ Now that Apple Music has joined the “lossless club”, can we please hear from Sonos as to whether this will be supported, and, if it will be, approximately when that may occur? Thanks.
Has anyone else noticed the slightest bit of lip sync on lossless content such as LPCM and TrueHD/Atmos since the 13.3 update got pushed? I never noticed this before, and my setup hasn’t changed (running my Arc through a Sony A90J).I feel like the audio is now slightly ahead, and this wasn’t the case before. I have confirmed all settings on my tv, blu ray player, and Arc have remained unchanged.
Hello, I have a quick question.I explain to you, I have:a sonos beam .2 second generation play 5 sonos. And the 3rd generation subwoofer. The beam is placed below my television. The 2 play five are in front of me on the left and on the right of my television.* I would like to buy, add behind my head, 2 sonos one (1 rear left and 1 rear right).I would like to know if all the speakers will work well together in a surround system ??Thank you for your answers.
Hello, I have been using Sonos products for quite some time. Currently I own a Playbase, a Sub and 4 Play1/One. I would like to change the setup to a single room in the future, with 1 Arc, 1 Sub & 2 Fives. The Fives would be surrounds when watching TV.For music playback I would like to not have sound coming from the TV area. Can the Arc be muted while playing music? Anyone got experience with similar setups?
Hi thereI started watching Alien 40th Anniversary Edition in 4K tonight and was looking forward to hearing the 5.1 surround sound the disc comes with. However, on the sonos app I use on my phone it says it is in Stereo PCM and not 5.1. Can someone explain why this is and what does it mean? The TV I have is a new Sony Bravia 4K and the 4K player is also a new Panasonic DP-UB820. I have a Sonos Beam, two Sonos One speakers and a Sub for bass, which creates a great 5.1 surround sound when watching other 4k movies I have or streaming films on Amazon or Netflix.I have never had an issue with anything that says it is in 5.1 until tonight when I started watching Alien which was only in Stereo PCM. I have toggled with a few settings on the TV and Bluray/4k player but nothing seems to change.I would appreciate if someone could know what the problem is.Thank you.
I am using Sonos S1 app, and trying to change the SonosNet Channel. It is all greyed-out. When I tap, I get the message: Incompatible Software Versions (The version of the app you’re using isn’t compatible with your Sonos system, so some settings have been disabled).I have previously been able to do this. What is going on?
Hey everyone,Every patch / update I always consider posting some thoughts on what I'd love to see in follow-on updates, so posting this time around. This first set is really what I would consider 'quality-of-life' improvements based on my usage (in no priority order): Separate volume controls for the different audio 'channels' (e.g. the assistant voice, the alarm, the audio streaming, etc.). Why: I frequently find the Alexa voice is not as loud as I'd like, so want to increase her volume while not increasing the music volume Allowing mixing of sound (and volume) between the streaming audio and external input on the Beam / Arc / Fives Why: I have a Beam and Arc hooked up to Xboxes and sometimes my family and I would like music to continue to play while playing a game on the Xbox (easily mix in-game sounds and your streaming music) Setting Assistant microphone sensitivity Why: I have a Roam in the bathroom and Ones in the bedroom and when I call 'Alexa' while in the bedroom
Hi there I'm considering swapping my move and roam in for 2x ones and something else due to having trouble with the new in wir d products and my wifi just a pain and don't need them would rather a couple wired ones is it possible to swap? Don't have boxes for them but have receipts, brought online from Sonos themselves.
Having just spent another hour and a half trying to find a solution as to why my Sonos speaker randomly stopped working, then downloading app updates, rebooting, unplugging, replugging, resetting forgotten passwords and still not being able to play music like I was at the start of the day….I am wondeing if anyone can recommend a good wireless speaker to use instead of the ridiculously expensive good for nothing Sonos speaker I have?
I am playing music through Spotify to a few devices: Speakers attached to an airport express, Denon Receiver, Computer, and Sonos Move. After 20 minutes or so you can here a click on Sonos Move and then the music gets out of sync, like an echo. If I turn the spotify connection off for Sonos Move and back on it will run for another 20 minutes or so. My connection to Sonos: Spotify on a Mini Mac, Orbi Router to Orbi Satellite to SonosI noticed that I’m getting RX Packets dropped (see below):br0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 48:A6:B8:EE:92:66 inet addr:192.168.1.22 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::4aa6:b8ff:feee:9266%702539728/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:9703223 errors:0 dropped:67071 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:571522 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:4471608129 (4.1 GiB) TX bytes:208990338 (199.3
I’ve got an iMac with an external Mac CD-ROM Superdrive attached. Works fine for playing CDs that I don’t want to rip onto my hard drive, for various reasons including that I like listening to redbook audio rather than compressed and don’t want to use a crazy amount of storage to rip lossless lots of cds I listen to infrequently. I work in the music industry, so get a lot of music that’s just an occasional listen. My external Superdrive CD-ROM works fine playing through my computer speakers. When I try to choose my Sonos Port as an output, all the controls in the Apple Music player stop working (play, skip, etc.). Sonos has confirmed that this isn’t supported and I have to rip any music I want to listen to. Anyone aware of a hack to get around needing to rip all of my music? Happy to experiment with devices, cords, etc. that’ll make this work for my needs. Thanks!
So now my 3 speakers are only good for the bin after the latest iOS update, I rang the helpline who worked my through various things, all listed in previous ( now closed for further comments) page and after failed attempts was to he would ask for more advice and send me an email . all the email said was I can upgrade with a 30% reduction in price. They must think Im a moron if I'm going to invest in a system that does work anymore.
Hi Something I found strange the other day. When my sonos Roam is connect to my wifi network I can use it with Google assistant to request song but when I leave my house I can't.. Seems strange to me that the mic operation is not transferred from the phone when connected over Bluetooth.. Or is it just me?
When I launch the S2 app on my Android phone (Samsung S21) I get the following message:An app update is required. Learn MoreWhen I select Learn more, I get the following screen:An app update is requiredThis version of the Sonos app can no longer control your system. Update to the current version to continue.Update NowWhen I select Update Now, I get the following screen:Sonos app needs updatingTap the button below to get the latest Sonos app update.UpdateWhen I select Update, I get the option to Open with either the Galaxy Store or Google Play store. Going to the Google Play store takes me to the Sonos app page, but with only the Uninstall or Open option. I seem to be caught in a loop here...
