Hello all, I'm new around here (though not to Sonos) and, given the discussions I've seen in the community, I thought some of you might be interested in my experience of replacing a stereo pair of Play:1 speakers with a single 2nd generation Play:5 as the main music source in my small apartment: Owing to a small and very awkward living space (windows everywhere, bookshelves where there are no windows), I've been looking for a good sounding one-box audio solution forever. A while ago I went a listened to the first generation Play:5 and was able to compare it quite extensively to a stereo pair of Play:1s (the same price, at the time). Whilst I was personally underwhelmed by the original Play:5, I was very impressed by the Play:1s when stereo paired; so much so that I bought them, even though I was really looking for a single sound source. I currently own two Play 3 speakers and may now purchase one Play 1 speaker. Is it possible to send a stereo signal to the two Play 3 speakers while simultaneously sending a mono signal (of the same song) to the Play 1? Thanks.

I wish to know when the new version will come out. The soundbar and subwoofer are a fantastic system today. I'm not a user yet, but want to buy. My concern is that the current models are over 24 months old and normally would expect company to have new upgraded and improved versions cycle through. I can wait for 6 months for a new version as I have an overkill system (Klipsch IKON reference speaker with 12" subwoofer monster) but my wife is looking to remodel the room and prefers a cleaner look. I appreciate your input and any rumors on upgrade and what features to expect that may be worth the wait.

I am unable to get my Sonos play 1 to connect to my wifi, I can get connection using my ethernet cable. I even played my speakers right next to my router/modem.

One radio station drops out periodically (out of country).  Is there any way to increase the buffer from (I assume) 2 seconds to (say) 3-4 seconds?  I appreciate the change would add lag when switching stations, but the existing buffer is inadequate for this one station. Internet speed is fine, most other stations are fine, all four speakers in the house experience it at the same time.  I could do some stupid cludge like buffer from the router, but it seems silly and inefficient.

Am trying to setup a system to go in a lobby - won't have a laptop or phone to control and no internet access. The hardware will be a connect w/o amp, 1 play:5 and 2 play:3. The music source will be line in via the play:5 and the play:3's will be grouped so music plays on all speakers. I've got just about everything figured out except how to have a speaker lose power and then reconnect to the group when power is restored? What am I missing?

Hi - Just got my first Sonos speakers and now going away for several weeks. Not sure if it is desirable or even necessary to power off the Sonos speakers (as I do with my computer, for example) while away. Would welcome any guidance. Thanks

I have a new Samsung smart tv with bluetooth. When I search from the TV , my SONOS 5 is not found. Is there a way to connect to SONOS from bluetooth smart tvs?

I've decided to replace my expensive ($5000) 2.0 stereo system with a Sonos system in my music listening room. It is a 15' x 15' living room. I already have a pair of Plays1, and a Connect, for music in the kitchen area. I love the Sonos system. Anyway, due to budget reasons, I was thinking of a pair of Play3s + the sub or ... a pair of Play5s. I don't play super loud. I'm more interested in the sound quality. What do you think? Are the Play5s that much better for mids and highs than the Play3? I'm open to all recommendations. Thx, Rob

I have currently one play5 gen1. What would be the best upgrade in terms of sound? 1. Replace my Play5 Gen1 with a new Play5 Gen2? or 2. Add a Sonos Sub to my Play5 Gen1? Thanks for your advice.

Hi all, last week I took my sweet two sonos play1 with for a jurney. I just wanted to be able to listen the music in a new place where I stay. My sonos app was full configured with all playlists, favorites and streaming services I use every day. Ok all looks great. My first stop. I turning the speakers on hoping to changing the wifi settings and be able to listen the music. NO WAY! My android software version 6.4.8. How such a simple stupid think cannot be done with wifi only. Ok what options do I have to set it up: Add another sonos system. Let's give a try. Somehow I got it working. I could connect to my speakers. But her is the second disappointment. Where are all my saved steaming account, playlists, favorites I have already configured. Nothing is there. Why?! I love the Sonos system but I am really disappointed there is no support for bookmarks in audiobooks (and podcasts). I love listening to audiobooks and since I'm from Sweden Audible is not an option if I want to listen to Swedish audiobooks. I buy my books in MP3 or on CD and make them real bookmarkable audiobooks in the .m4b-format with the program Audiobook Builder so they are not DRM-protected. It's also annoying that I can't play the audiobooks I have on my iPhone in the Sonos app, I need to use the computer version. So please Sonos, fix support for bookmarks in audiobook (and podcasts) so all your audiobook loving customer can bookmark their audiobooks. :)

Keeping it clean

I am looking at getting the optimum response from my sub and rather than moving the beast around unnecessary, I would like your opinion on room placement! Currently I have the sub placed in position 1 on the picture, underneath my dinning room oak bench facing into the room. I am considering position 2 and 3, primarily so that the sound of the bass is not being blocked by the table. Obviously however, these positions would place the sub some way from the middle of my play 1s. It might be worth nothing that the area immediately in front of the sub under the bench is open. Is my setup okay as it is or can it be further improved? It also might be mentioning that I have young, inquisitive children who might think the growl of the sub means it is hungry and needs feeding....

Hi, Love my 2 play 5's and sub. Don't know quite how to explain, but here goes. I know sub volume adjusts with master volume, but it should be built into software so that sub volume is a certain percentage of master. A higher percentage at low volume and vice versa. I'll put it this way. When listening to low volume we use 'loudness' to give a little extra bass but at higher volume you generally don't need it. I find myself adjusting sub level according to master volume. Couldn't software be written to do this automatically using some type of gain so the listener can adjust to personal preference? I'm using the TuneInApp for several years now on my smartphone, tablet, Mac and - of course - on my Sonos devices. iTunes offers hearers the possibility to choose from different stream qualities a radio station provides. It would be great if I also may choose them from within the Sonos controller apps. This may also practical when a user is on holidays: when the user takes his Sonos Play: loudspeaker with him 😉 and connects it to a mobile 3G/LTE router this could help saving bandwidth.

Hi everyone, I'm about to pull the trigger on a pair of Play:5s but I have a question about auxiliary inputs with a stereo pair. Forgive my ignorance, since I'm not an owner yet, but when I set up a stereo pair in the app, is the aux input of one speaker pushed to the paired speaker? I'm asking because what I've read tells me that I need an AirPort Express if I want to actually use the Sonos units with AirPlay, and not via the Sonos app... am I right about that, or wrong about everything? I'd ask in a store, but I don't have a stockist nearby, so I'll be ordering online. Thank you very much for your help.

I was wondering how directional the sound from the Play:1 is? If I place it on a bookshelf which is against a common wall to my neighbour (in an apartment block), will he get much noise from it if I was to turn the volume up. Obviously I wouldn't have the Play:1 facing the wall, it would be facing the rest of the room, but I am curious. thanks.

Hello all, I'm designing a whole home audio system for my house which is currently under reconstruction. I'd like to go with Sonos. I think it'll be more cost effective than going with a multi-room audio system that they're marketing nowadays. I also am in desperate need of great sound quality and power. I plan to entertain a lot. Because of pitched ceilings, I'm really leaning towards the SpeakerCraft in-ceiling speakers so I can direct the speaker downwards. Some rooms are larger, others are smaller. I have about 8 zones all with two speakers except one which has four. I plan to use 8 individual connects to control each zone individually and/or multiple zones simultaneously. I want separate amps (not a Connect:AMP) that won't break the bank to give me the power Connect:AMP won't. The SpeakerCraft speakers I'm leaning towards are 8 ohms/125W. I'm stuck when it comes to amplifiers. Some say pre-amp + amp for the Connect, others say not necessarily. I would prefer a multi-input/multi-

Hi there everyone, 1st post and all that so if this isn't in the right place......sorry I've recently added to my Sonos setup by adding a Playbar and an extra Play one for 5.0 surround sound and the Play 3 is in the bedroom. I used to use the Sonos Bridge when I first got the speakers (1 and 3). Obviously now the bridge is redundant. My question is does the bridge create a wifi network for the Sonos to work from or does it just extend the existing network? If it creates ones would I be able to plug it into power while camping and run my play one off it while camping? Thanks in advance K

Since I am lacking space, could I put a Sonos Sub, right behind my Play5 (gen 1)? How will it sound? Thanks.

Just got a Play 5 2nd Generation. It has a non-standard adapter. The cable is really long. My power plug is directly behind the place where I want to put the Play 5. Can I buy a shorter Power Cable? I see an option to buy a cable in the Sonos Shop but it does not specify the size.
